I'm throwing this one up one more time. I think it is interesting that the building class values these types of arrangements. This is an activity defined by the elite and wealthy factions of society. In the past only churches, rulers, and royalty could afford to create these types of talismanic systems.
Thank you everyone for all the kind words and interest.
Really what we see here if you think about it is a framework of control. Not in a physical manner but psychological. This system of monuments and all of the themes and talismans contained therein are kind of like the function that the media serves in today's world. This plants the seed of belief and faith in many people and they don't even realize it. Think of the psychological impact on provincial minded people when they first saw the pyramids in Egypt. This instills respect and awe for the people or org. that created the monuments. This is also a framework for manipulating other people who value the alignments who may not even realize the full scope of the what they are taking part in.
I have taken a lot of flak from people who enjoy Burning Man for pointing this out. Burning Man is a veneration of the Druidic custom of the Wicker Man in which a live human being was placed inside a giant wicker human efigy and burned alive. This is absolutely no different from the "mock" sacrifices you see at Bohemian Grove. Here we have a bunch of hipsters disapproving of Bohemian Grove but they will go take part in the same sort of ceremony on their own terms without even realizing it! That's what I'm talking about.
