FYI:

During high tourist season, 150,000 visitors and 30,000 residents have been ordered off the North Carolina Outer Banks, as Hurricane Irene is projected to hit North Carolina on Saturday afternoon. NBC’s Mark Potter reports from Nags Head, N.C.

MSNBC Reports:

Irene Takes Aim at East Coast, Evacuations Spread

Hurricane Irene took an ominous turn westward Thursday, putting cities along the East Coast in its cross-hairs as it grew to Category 3 force. The shift puts Atlantic City, New York and Long Island in the powerful storm’s path as it barrels toward the U.S. First landfall is expected Saturday in North Carolina and projections show the storm cutting through New England on Sunday. As many as 150,000 tourists were evacuated Thursday from North Carolina’s Outer Banks.

Evacuation orders later spread to parts of New Jersey, Maryland, Virginia and New York, as governors of each state joined North Carolina in declaring states of emergency to marshal federal resources ahead of the storm’s landfall. Officials postponed Sunday’s planed dedication of the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial in D.C indefinitely. In South Florida, eight people on a jetty were injured by a wave churned up by Irene.

Evacuation orders widened Thursday to include parts of Maryland, New Jersey, Virginia and more North Carolina counties after the forecast for Irene took a turn for the worse. In Florida, eight people were reported injured by rough waves stirred up by the menacing hurricane.

The massive storm was now expected to track farther inland, threatening 65 million people along a shore-hugging path along the Eastern Seaboard from North Carolina to New England.

I'm in Connecticut. It should slow down considerably when it hits here.

While those in the outer banks need to take precautions and get out of the area, this storm is being played up regarding it's likely impact on the Northeast. Unless HAARP is unleashed to ramp this storm up to create more powerful winds it should just be a catagory 2 which is not very threatening. Watch dutchsinse or utilize intellicast for scaler activity in that region. This is no Katrina, but the weather channel seems to want to act like it is.

I'm in CT as well... and with all the technological advances the newscasters and meteorologists are having a field day... it's coming no doubt, but we won't know what is going to happen until it happens... just going to be smart and not take unnecessary chances. (by that i mean when/if it gets really bad and dangerous then I will simply move my chair further into my garage while watching it!) ;)

Alex Jones is reporting that the subways of NYC will be shut down on Saturday, and possibly shut down for weeks.

I'm actually pretty upset about the coverage on this. People and the media are acting as if hurricanes were invented last month. By the time it reaches where I live near NYC it's going to be a category 1. It can't be anything less than a cat 1 unless it dies out and just rains.

So other than the "unsung" war in Libya just wtf is going on in our world right now that the media is barraging everyone's awareness with what seems like a completely normal storm? I do recall this type of fearful attitude being somewhat normal for hurricanes but this time it just seems over the top. I keep hearing that it's going to be the "worst one in 50/100 years". WHERE ARE PEOPLE GETTING THIS FROM? My friends and I were watching radars on the news last night and the rainfall alone was all in the moderate range when it was off the coast of Florida, where it was still completely on the ocean with full access to water.

My BS meter is burning itself out and I'm feeling like either I'm a loon or everybody else is. Can anybody with actual information and not a suite of forecasts that predict everything from rainbows and puppies to doomsday chime in?

One other thing I noticed, not sure how it could be relevant but it looked fairly strange to me. I was looking at my weatherbug app to track the rain storms the other day as I always do. It happened to almost exactly match Dutchsinse's models for the quakes running from Colorado to around Virginia and then up the Appalachians.

Here is the CNN update

Hurricane Irene continues its churn toward the U.S. East Coast, and all indications are this storm will be, as President Obama said, "historic." Here are some events that weather experts say could develop over the next 48 hours:
-- Irene is bringing gusty winds, heavy rain and dangerous surf to the South Carolina coast today.
-- North Carolina will be pounded by Irene’s forces Friday night and Saturday.
-- Irene will head north Sunday, hitting a large swath from Virginia to Maine.
-- Major metro areas of Philadelphia, New York and Boston should brace for possible widespread damage, including major flooding, as Irene hits Sunday.
-- The strongest of Irene’s power will be to the east of its center.
-- Widespread power outages are expected over a large section of the Northeast.
-- New York’s metro transit system will be shut down at noon Saturday.
-- East Coast travel will be severely disrupted starting tonight. Hundreds of flights and Amtrak train lines have been canceled.

They have also called for the mandatory evacuation of most shore towns and announced the Parkway would be closed off south of 98.

This seems to be overkill to me too. Maybe it is a test to see how compliant the public will be for the next false flag :(

Now, how would Obama know that it'll be "historic"? What are the criminals up to now...? Where are the good aliens when you need them? Because if this is a HAARP directed hurricane, then they should disable all of the HAARPs, the way they did all nuke weapons....
I think it is a test...at least to see how serious people take HIM. I also think that there are alot of people who scare easily; so they'll jump when told to jump. And ask how high...
Sad....

Well, I live in Long Island and the eye of the hurricane it's suppose to pass right here so.... it will be my first experience with a hurricane but it seems to me that it's not going to be as terrible as they want it to be. If that was the case, they will be reporting from the places where it has already passed and I don't see that in the news. I'm sad I'll probably be without Avalon if electricity goes out!

Okay, so you all might think I'm a bit wacky, but I'll share this suggestion anyway:
As we all know, there is consciousness everywhere and that includes the air....Clouds react to our thoughts, right? Who hasn't played with them like that? They respond to love the way anyone would.....And if you play with them in a loving way, they'll send you images and messages via the clouds.
So, I'm suggesting, speaking to the air beings in your areas and ask them to lessen the hurricane's ferocity wherever it is now. Speak to them as if they were your dear friends....They'll respond....

Talk to Irene via YOUR local sky. She is part of the same. I've sent her love and asked her to lessen her storms.

Not my words but I can't help but seem to think this is what this whole mess is really about. Maybe I am just getting to cynical in my old age.

"Crisis and leviathan: The state loves to assert its control, and what better time than a crisis? "They ordered the evacuation of more than 2 million people, shut down public transport in New York and other cities, and put the military on alert." The state has confirmed (like after Katrina: http://bit.ly/edpqFC) that it can put everyone in camps. It's ready for hyperinflation and civil unrest, are you?"
