I expect a lot of people are doing this already.
I am doing this, my goal is to reduce the power of the weather system known as Irene and minimize the damage it may cause.
This is my present tense format thinking for this:
"The weather system known as hurricane irene has abated and causes minimum damage - for the highest and best good of all - and people are not afraid, despite the attempts by the forces of darkness to instil fear"
Personally I feel extra empowered in this because I do not think Irene is completely natural, and therefore we can act powerfully to attenuate the forces represented.
Fire at will.

Its funny cause when I was a kid sometimes I would draw pictures of the sun shining and put them in a window when there was a storm. My mum would always smile at this thinking it was just a kids thing. :)

I'm very heartened by the comments of this thread.....
Negative can always be neutralised with positive.....
The ratio is 5: to 1:
1 negative will take 5 positives to neutralise.
(can be anything, posts, threads, acts of kindness etc)

Back when Cyclone Yasi (allegedly category 4) was coming for the east coast of Australia, the media went wild. One paper said that Yasi would hit houses with the force of a nuclear explosion. This pissed me off so much that I started a thread similar thread here. In the event, there was a bit of a wind, there were some localized damage with a town flattened and a lot of crop damage but no-one died and the next day the press could only report that no-one died. Later they found one one bloke dies, but he had killed himself by accident using a petrol generator in an enclosed space. Who knows if it was us that did it, but it was a great effort - and I like to think it helped.
What pissed me off this time was hearing Michael Bloomberg's news soundbyte stating that there would be a "mandatory"... "I repeat the word mandatory" evacuation of low lying areas and then proceeded to be extremely vague about what these low lying areas actually were.
By what authority is this done? By what means would it be enforced? Can it even be enforced?
Now evacuation in the face of such a threat may very well be a great idea, but I despise the way this is being spun in the media.
So, I hope we can all take the puff out of Irene and make them all look stupid. As it is right now I read its a category 1, barely even a Hurricane.
Please.

For anyone who needs encouragement, I just popped outside to offer my greetings to mother Earth and offer my support/strength against those who would try to abuse her. Before I even got outside I could see that the sky was a beautiful crimson sunset and was reminded of the old adage that "red sky at night; shepherds delight!"
I accept that storms are part of the metabolism of mother Earth but I will not consent to her abuse.
