Can anybody answer me this simple question

when is the last time that something positive has happened

I woke up this morning to the sound of birds singing...there is a lot of beautiful things happening all the time, problem is we take them for granted. The fact that we have not been blown to pieces yet either by a comet or nuclear bombs is rather a miracle but it is an everyday miracle

The problem is that we have been trained (by TV, radio, etc) to focus on the bad while the good is there all the time for us to appreciate. I guess that if the news reported the good it will be a never ending report because there is so much to say!

President Jackson had come to thoroughly dislike the Second Bank of the United States because of its fraud and corruption. Jackson then had an investigation done on the Bank which he said established “beyond question that this great and powerful institution had been actively engaged in attempting to influence the elections of the public officers by means of its money.” Although its charter was bound to run out in 1836, Jackson wanted to "kill" the Second Bank of the United States even earlier. Jackson is considered primarily responsible for its demise, seeing it as an instrument of political corruption and a threat to American liberties.

There are joys and sorrows in every moment.

That sounds like a cliche..but I assure you its true.

Humans focus on negative news because it is an evolutionary imperative to pay attention to that which might threaten your survival. Psychologists have realized this and thats why bad news sells, and no one is interested to watch good news.

If everything is good, then it poses no threat to you or your family and you will not pay attention to it.

This is simple survival.

As the above poster theorized, you have to re-train your mind, your heart, and your soul to see the beauty in all things, have gratitude in your heart for your enemies, for the enmies of mankind. Without them we would have no one to push against. No one to overcome, and thus no way to grow.

To build a champion weightlifter more and more resistance must be applied. They can't keep lifting the same weight.

In our case, the evolutionary pressure must be increased exponentially in order to induce a leap. great negativity must be applied to bring out the positive reaction necessary for this leap.

They do this by creating questions that can not be borne nor answered.

When we have lost all hope, and everything seems like it is lost, once the light looks to be all but gone out.....
