View Full Version : Falling Asleep the Last Few Days

The last few days as I lay down for the evening to sleep I have been having a strange experience. I hear an bang inside my head almost like a firework explosion and it is fairly loud. I am not asleep yet nor am I drifting off, rather I am still wide awake.
The first time it happened to me was about a week ago and it actually startled me for a half second. I thought someone banged something outside etc. However I quickly realized it came from inside my self. It has happened 3-4 times since usually as I try to get comfortable it only happens once and I later fall off to sleep. Anyone have any ideas about this?

Just double check your blood pressure to eliminate that and then start thinking about where in your body it is coming from.. or which part of you is receiving the sensation.....

I have explosions of light in my head and they scared me the first couple of times. Not anymore through, now I try to hold on to them. Sometimes they stay seconds and just become brighter and brighter but if I open my eyes it's pitch black and the light isn't there anymore when I close them again. It's about the same time as you describe - not asleep but getting ready to. Sometimes there's a sound ... short bang of sorts, but mostly just light.

Judging from my many years of Astral experiences, this is a moment when your pineal gland is activating, therefore auditory and visual imagery experiences are starting to hit. It's your 3rd eye chakra energy port activating as a result also.
The sounds can be voices, conversations, big bangs or explosions of LIGHT. Big bangs are usually related when the astral body prepares for separation.
Simply, you have just become aware of them this time.
If you would like to find out more, check my posts on Astral projection. I would also recommend you to read the material that Jake posted on the same subject.

G'day Referee,
You may like to take a look at Wiki's page on "Exploding Head Syndrome". Sounds very much like what you are experiencing.

Quote from the WiKi : " The cause of the exploding head syndrome (EHS) is not known, though some physicians have reported a correlation with stress or extreme fatigue "
"The mechanism is also not known, though possibilities have been suggested"
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Yes that is exactly how it is but they don't know what or why it is. I would not call this a syndrome.
In the realm of today's mainstream medicine and science, many many important things are being disregarded.

Hi Orion,
I was trying to reply when you were in the middle of editing there. Had me stumped what was going on!
I am simply offering Referee an alternative, as it is good to come at such things from all angles. Your thoughts are, of course, of equal validity. ;) I have suffered this malady, and it is most disconcerting. Actually, it can be terrifying, depending on what it is that you are hearing. In my case, it was exactly as you have quoted from Wiki; extreme stress and fatigue. Just to think of it puts the wind up me!

this has been happening to me as well. when it first started happening, i was scared. now, i kind of just wait for it, then i can drift off to sleep quietly. it is rather startling. when it first started happening, i correlated it with other things, noisy kids, house settling, tree falling....... but now i know that it is something different entirely... also, yesterday, i had to have a tooth pulled, i came home and lay down for a bit, something startled me, not unlike the strange popping noise, when i opened my eyes i saw a white mist floating through my room. it was bizarre. that is the first time i have ever seen a mist of light or dark anywhere near me. i am not sure if they necessarily go hand in hand, since this was the first time that i have noticed it.

Oh off course, all sources must be examined and all different and alternative or mainstream evidences also must be examined. Thank You !
My reply was to help go further and deeper in the matter.
About your case : I learned that this experience is best to be practised when the body is fatigued. The more tired you are, the more body is relaxed and open to this experience.
I know this because in the past it always happened to me around 4 AM clock in the morning, this was the time when it would hit and terrified me, leaded me to sleep paralysis and then to OBE. Something which i didn't fully understood, but that was when i was a child.

Wow! You actually practice this? Orion, I would rather avoid it like the plague! But of course, we have experienced it under completely different circumstances. As with you, it would start at the same time, around 4am, and I would hear the viscous barking of a dog. Frightened the living daylights out of me! It was like there was a full Dolby Digital system in my head, the clarity of the sound was so clear.
These days, I place great importance on avoiding fatigue, and getting a healthy nights sleep. No more dog pound in the head thanks!

Do I practice it ? Yes and NO.
NO because it was occurring all naturally and spontaneous when i was much younger ( well rested and not tired at all ), and YES because i can "practice" it and induce it by myself sometimes and i found 4 AM in the morning (when i am tired) to be the best time.
I did a lot of research on this subject, if you are interested we can discuss anytime, and if you find yourself having this sometimes don't be alarmed, just ignore it and as you ignore you will slip into a deep sleep and dream probably.
There are people that can initiate this any time they want when they want to have an OBE, it requires good training and meditation. I don't do any of these things.

Orion

I myself have been experiencing this for years. Like most others, at first I found it alarming until one of my spooky friends explained what was going on. Now I welcome it, & more often than not try to induce the sensation so I can level up. What's now strange is I feel disappointed if I wake up due to the jolt & let down if it doesn't come about.

A good place to start , when did it start? what changed in your life? eliminate the obvious, anyhoo exploding head syndrome doesn't sound good.

Thanks I think you all are correct that is what is happening. Although I do not think I am under extreme stress or fatigue it is quite the opposite.

Yes, it does not have to be related to stress or fatigue.
In fact those who meditate and those who have a more relaxed and well rested mind and body have greater success to master it.
Being tired or under stress just forcibly kick starts it in some cases.
