To my friends at Avalon,

Today I attended the state funeral for Canadian politician Jack Layton. In Canadian history this is the first time that a state funeral has been awarded to a politician who was not a Prime Minister... the reason - In a world filled with challenge, to all that met him, Jack was the voice of inspiration and hope for Canadians and world citizens alike.

Two days before his death, Jack wrote an open letter to all Canadians. I would like to share his closing paragraph with you...

"My friends, love is better than anger. Hope is better than fear. Optimism is better than despair. So let us be loving, hopeful and optimistic. And we’ll change the world."

Don't let anyone tell you it's not possible.

RIP Jack.

While Jack's worries have ended, the world is a little less bright today. He is already missed! Thanks for bringing this to our attention.

Thanks WhiteFeather - you may be interested to see the attached link... the first tribute to Jack was from the Canadian First Nation (Native) Chief... made me proud to be a "New Canadian"

He presented Olivia, Jack's widow, with a White Feather...
