IMO, they have feathered their nests, and seeing what the short-term future holds, are withdrawing from the market. My hope is that the short-term future that I think is worrying them is just the tip of an iceberg which will be found to include game-changers like open-source technology and zero-point energy.

I agree, with some of the Avalonians responses. Yes They may be heading for their DUMBS or holes in the ground from some possible catastrophic b/s event. Or. Free energy/technology will be exposed very soon, crippling their corporation. In the last two years companies have been reporting double digit profit increases while sales have been up fractions of a point at best.

So what's a CEO to do? Perform one time actions such as reducing inventories, selling off a chunk of the business, or laying off employees. This makes the bottom line look good to the board, the CEO gets his bonus, and then blows town before the realities of the situation show up.

If they wait for the 2011 fiscals to be reported, they are pariahs instead of heroes.

Get out while the gettins good, and leave the next poor bastard to clean up your mess.
