Good Books on the history of Israel? Recommendations please?

Hi Guys, I am interested in a reasonably true view of the history behind the creation of Israel - including the real agendas and power struggles that go on behind the scene - perhaps explaining the Zionism intermingled with it? Excuse my ignorance. Can anyone recommend any good books on it or any good documentaries. Thanks in advance.
