View Full Version : Need Input on Tuning Forks

I am looking to buy a set of tuning forks and finding there's a lot to choose from. I'd love to have any input on brands, good places to buy from, etc.
And if you have any advice, tips or stories about how you've used them, I would value hearing that too.
All love,
Junebug

Giving this a bump -- maybe the weekend Avalonians have something to say. :)
Thanks for any advice. Otherwise, I'm on my own!

What are you planning to use the tuning forks for Junebug?

Hi Lancelot -- I'm going to use them in Reiki healing sessions. I have had them used on me, and I felt the vibration ripple through me. It seemed to set things right and help me release some stuff.
I haven't done much with sound healing but am motivated to try it now for my brother who has cancer. (here's the thread: http://projectavalon.net/forum4/showthread.php?29111-A-Request-for-Healing )
Thanks for asking!

Interesting, never heard of this before but sounds soothing. I use solfeggio frequency's on Youtube it helps soothe as well give it a shot if you haven't already. Im sending you one. There are many different frequencies on this site here. http://www.youtube.com/user/mountainmystic9 Enjoy!
PS Hope all goes well with your brother, there is alot of valuable alternative medicines and info on this site for cancer.

Thank you WhiteFeather! I've never used solfeggio frequencies, but have heard them discussed here on the forum. I'm listening now -- I like it. I may use it this afternoon during the Reiki with my brother.
I believe tuning forks are used near the body, to affect the energy body vibrations, balance them, etc. I need to study up on it. Although sometimes one doesn't need to know all the details, but just to let it happen as it needs to.

Hi Junebug, saw these and thought of you. Seems to be explanations about each fork's purpose, hope they help, and best wishes to Curtis!

Hi Pickle,
Thanks for the links! They look very useful. I think there's a lot to the science and art of healing sound--I'm excited to be learning about it.
And thanks muchly for the good wishes for Curtis! <3

Hi JuneBug. I don't know about tuning forks other than their function but I recently learnt that the scale we use is very recent. I think it was the 1940's that they had a meeting and decided what frequency each of the six notes should be. I had no idea and it made me think of The Council of Nicea deciding what The Bible was.
Apparently there are many different scales and each town/area would have it's own. Each tradition would also have their own but I have no idea where to start looking for them. I think it starts with Flutes and Sacred Measurements.
Do you know anything about this and have you chosen any particular scale that you want to use?

Hi Anno,
No, I haven't chosen a scale -- that's one thing that confuses me! Each vendor seems to have a unique set of forks, and I haven't seen much of the science yet, just glowing words. Which are nice. But I need more for this.
Could you explain more about the 1940's meeting to decide frequency? I assumed the tuning forks related to the musical scale with its 8 notes in an octave. But I don't know that, just as assumption. It looks like I really need to get a good book first and read up to see where I'm at. I was hoping to get going with it soon for my brother.
Thanks Anno, for your post.
All love,
Marianne

I'm listening to an audiobook about music theory and it was mentioned in that. I'll have another listen to that chapter and get some more details for you. What I remember is that an octave is a seven note scale with the first note repeated. There lots of different scales with different numbers of notes in them. The gaps between the notes are the same but the frequencies are different.
The meeting was because Wind instruments can't be retuned like Stringed instruments so when a group or orchestra wants to play together they have to all be using the same tuning. As each local area let alone country, had their own unique tuning it caused big problems as the world got smaller. Hence the meeting to pick one standard tuning that everyone is meant to use. A one world scale I guess.
Given that Music theory is a part of Sacred Geometry and Numerology etc, aside from the obvious effect music has on us, I'm thinking this may be an important peice of the overall puzzle. I'll bookmark this thread and let you know as I learn more. I didn't realise just how complex a history music has.

Pretty Flash!
You'll find them at Sounds True mon ami. Just tap in 'tuning fork' in the home page search.
There is also a budget set in case you're feeling the pinch after your recent techno purchase.

Anno, music as sacred geometry is fascinating, isn't it? I wish my brain were wired to understand math better (in college I fulfilled my math requirement with 'math for poets' course - got an A but boy I worked for it). I suspect math is infused in some way throughout the universe.
Some of the tuning forks are based on the Pythagorean scale ... I want to learn more about that.
My mother-in-law was a composer. She taught me a bit about scales, and explained them, wish I remembered her lessons. And I wish she were still here and we could have a good chat about it.
Thanks for any info you are able to add to the thread.
All love,
Marianne

ST has everything don't they? That looks pretty complete... for $350 it should be too! I'm pinched all right, but it's cheaper to get all of it in one sweep.
I may start with that to use for Curtis, and perhaps get into something more as I learn about it.
Thank you amico mio!

I've been doing healing work with a set of stainless steel tuning forks manufactured in England for about 20 years now (used professionally to tune pianos) , and I like them better than the aluminum forks I've seen, except for the ones that are attuned to the Sun, Moon and planets, which are awesome.

Thanks Onawah, for the info. I saw the solar system-attuned ones and wondered about them. Do you mind my asking, what do you especially like about them? Do you use them intuitively, or have a standard guide to use?

Hi Junebug,
I was watching those videos called spiritual science. In it they say that an ankh placed at the bottom of a tuning fork will result in a sustained tone three times longer in duration.
Wondering if you want to do an experiment?
Or can anyone verify this claim?
I'm lazy, I know. :p
Marianne

Hi Ernie,
That would be fun to try ... I'll see if I can get my hands on an ankh once I have the tuning forks, and give it a try.

Marianne

I don't own a set, but would love to. A friend has a set and that's how I came to covet them. I just love the tones and vibrations they create. I've never worked with them, but I'm sure others have devised ways of using them. An understanding of astrology and of how the planets affect us, etc. would probably be useful. Since they are new, there won't be as much information as yet about how to work with them, I would think.
Thanks Onawah, for the info. I saw the solar system-attuned ones and wondered about them. Do you mind my asking, what do you especially like about them? Do you use them intuitively, or have a standard guide to use?

I'm thinking of purchasing a 528 Hz Tuning Fork and want to make sure the fork is truly 528 Hz. Does anyone know if there is a way to tune a fork after purchasing it?

Hi Marianne,
I did a course on healing with tuning forks back in 2015 and I bought few sets of forks with various frequencies from the founder of the academy. The lady who runs it is an amazing person and very knowledgeable about healing frequencies, she has been running her centre since 2011 and constantly researching, expanding and sharing her knowledge with anybody who is interested .
I have been mainly using the forks on myself and my pets. The way animals receive the healing proves how we are affected by frequencies. The frequencies I am using daily are the OM frequency including a weighted fork - for clearing and grounding and the 528 for healing. If you want to explore more the source of my knowledge about the tuning forks this is the link: https://www.suarasounds.com/
Wishing you a wonderful journey with the frequencies.
