I have no TV, no radio.
... Internet, alternative media, David Icke Headlines, ConsciousMediaNetwork, Avalon and some good newsletter subscriptions, that's enough for me.

I have not had a T.V. for 15 years. I only watch it when I am at the gym on the treadmill and am always reminded why I dont have a t.v. The crap on there always makes me run faster.

I have a TV in my room, but haven't turned it on in many months and it's not connected to anything, not even my old xbox anymore. However I have been wanting to get rid of it because they seem to send things through it to me.... I know it must sound crazy to some... But the TV at times makes a BIG noise out of nowhere and my consciousness changes in a major OBVIOUS way(they do overt mind control to me if you are new to this forum or w/e so they wouldnt have to nec. hide it from detection). It's like they are testing, or using perfected beams THROUGH the TV somehow at me. It must sound paranoid, maybe not on Avalon. But think about it. TV affects consciousness irrefutably. So basically they may have a satellite that can direct something through the TV(this isn't even counting digital possibilities), and use some form of mind alteration with it. Perhaps programming. kind of like a macguyver government type thing. Reminds me of how old friends used to make bongs out of different things. lol
People I live with watch and have TV downstairs... I turn that on every so often when I'm cooking food to pass the time. but it's rarely on beyond like 3-30 minutes, however long it takes to cook and eat. Soon as I'm done eating it goes off and I go back online or do something else.
What is online is so much better than TV I never really watch if if i have a choice between the two.

And when I come in places where they have a radio or tv playing, I rapidly escape. I can't stand it.

During the Vietnam war I was at my parents house trying to eat dinner while watching the nightly news
The "news" always started with the body count of those killed that day, so many vc killed, and much fewer American, allies etc
I couldn't stand the tv anyway, and all of a sudden I "got it", I mean what they were doing with this programing and the war in general
I got up and shut off their tv(without asking) and never watched one since

I have one in the house but it's not connected to anything except my dvd player because I do enjoy watching movies once in a while, but I haven't had cable or watched a tv show since 2004, and I can't say that I miss it . I can't believe the amount of sh*t that passes for entertainment these days lol !!! but then again, I guess if you wanted to really dumb down the masses so that they don't question what is going on in their world "reality tv" would be the way to go

I know exactly what you mean, Onmi.
And I also know that there is information out there (would need to find it again) that proves the influence /spying abilities connected to the new HD technology. Some people had really freaky experiences...and the bigger the screens, the easier and the more effective the manipulation gets.
Wonder what people would think if (when) they find this out...

Right, well I don't consider myself to have a TV even though I have two...Wait wait let me explain! I don't have a signal, no means of picking up even a faint signal. I use these two TV's as monitors for when I'm doing major editing, when those small screens just won't do..It allows me to watch a DVD though of course. One TV is connected to my Mac and the other to my PC (running Ableton live 8 on my PC and Cubase 5 on my Mac)

Omni, I remember seeing something ages ago about some (if my memory serves me correctly) Itlaians who had contact with advanced beings, and they used to use electronic devices such as radio to make things appear or communicate with them. Nothing sounds weird to me anymore, so who the hell knows!
SpiritHorse, can you link to this info about the HD technology spying stuff by any chance??

Particularly from an energetic point of view, I don't think people are doing themselves a favour when watching TV (which is mostly related to wars and fear = news) whilst eating...they absorb that energy with their meal.

I like to keep one foot grounded in society by seeing what kind of programming they're trying to install into the public so I watch a few of the more popular tv shows every now and then, mainly though I prefer to download the tv shows and movies I find inspirational onto my laptop then hook it up to my big tv with a HDMI cable, best way to watch all the new releases IMO and I never have to waste time watching through any adverts. I've always been a big fan of a good story so wouldn't cut it out completely.
As I've been studying hypnosis for about 8 years I'm quite well trained in most of the many mind control techniques they use to try and program people, always makes me laugh when i catch them trying to subconsciously install something, knowing what tricks they use is the best way to guard against them and also gives a better working knowledge of how to reverse any damage that may have been caused to transform it towards more positive ends.
Omni, I remember reading a story once about how the americans used a trojan horse type trick in afganhistan, they couldn't get their troops into the afghan cave system so instead they allowed a shipment of new high def flat screen tvs to be lost in transit, the afghani troops took the shipment and set the tvs up in their little underground hideaways, then when everything was in place the americans were able to hijack the tvs in some way sending out signals that confused the afghani troops to the extent that the american soldiers could just walk into the caves and shoot everyone without meeting any resistance. I only read the article in passing at the time so can't go into any more details or find confirmation of the event, I didn't look any deeper into it yet found it interesting nonetheless.

I just got rid of cable, even though I git an HD tv a couple of months back. The cable bill was too expensive. I just picked up a media player box. That goes from my modem to my tv, and am watching Alex Collier from Awake and Aware 2009 on You Tube. I can also watch all my stored media on my external hd. I also have an x-box and ps2 that I hardly play on. I'm a big Tomb Raider fan. I don't think I'll be giving it up though.

I have TV and Radio,
If it where not for shows like X-files, and shows like that got me started on my treck I never would have bothered, something told me that some of the stuff in these shows have part of the truth.
Now I watch shows like
Ancient Aliens
UfO files
Warehouse 13
Ureaka
Alfas
I watch stuff like the above, I read stuff like the above, I write stuff like the above.
I need a new radio, so I can start listening to shows like Coast to Coast live.
If I am not reading a book then I am out and about adding to my Project: Shadowstalker show.
If i'm not doing that, then I am reading, about the stuff I post here and on youtube.
If not anything from the above list then my daughter and or son are having a convoluted conversion.

Rather than tell you if and how its affecting you, I'll tell you how it affected me - this is off topic so if you're only interested in how to avoid the media, I'd say leave the room when that **** is on.
Here goes -
When I began to wake up, I had a different girlfriend back then. She loved (like most people), gossip mags, watched all the soaps like Eastenders, hollyoaks etc, and was obsessed with things like Big Brother.
I honestly think if she had began to wake up with me we might have stayed together, but she was addicted to the tv and addicted to drama.
So I wouldn't say I was affect directly from the TV since waking up (as far as I'm aware), but the more I watched the things I was into like the Camelot interviews and documentaries on UFO's etc, the lower my tolerance becamee with buying into the drama or even being around people when they were watching all that stuff. It started to make me depressed. I felt like an adult being forced to play the same childs game every day.
In the end, I believe it played a big role in why we broke up.
In my case however, I should probably point out that she was so obsessed as if it were real life, that I began to discover a pattern. Just for your 'amusement' I'll share.
The pattern goes as follows:
If something terrible happened on TV like someone died in a soap, she'd call me up all loved up, and try to apologise for her crazy behaviour. I didn't mind that, kinda thought it was sweet. But....If someone did something like cheat on the girl, there'd be hell to pay. Once I discovered the pattern, I literally asked someone I knew to just text me if I'm in trouble or not lol.
But it got so out of hand that one day she went for the kitchen knife...And then I was single.
A sad and true story - I'm sorry to say! But I guess in a sick way I have TV to thank for getting out of an unhealthy life.
Sorry people, I know this is off topic, but wanted to share that. Look out for those patterns though eh ;)

About 2005 i became aware of being unnaturally charged with negative feelings that seemed to permeate my whole being and most things around me. After i'd realized the actual state i were in, it didn't take me long to figure out the source of the negativity. Since that realization, i abruptly cut the tv broadcasts out of my life. Needless to say, i did myself a great service. My old CRT is for some reason still part of the furniture. Once or twice a year i use to fire it up, just to check if it still works. I get all the entertainment i need from carefully selected content on the computer.

I love true beauty. Nature is beautiful by itself. Among people it is found, where people have the intent to express beauty. That's not very much the case on the TV shows, I figure. There are some outstanding moments or movies, though.

I have not realy lookt at tv for at least 10 years, but mostly for i workt all the time, and i really hate commercial and them negative news reports.
This was before i woke up.
A few years back just prior to my awakening, i whent and got one of those big screen TVs. I use it as a screen for my computer and i see my movies there to.
I have not used it for a year though,
(i am living with my GF) she got two TVs phuuu and she cant go to sleep if the tv in the bedroom is not on:( She knows i hate tv, so i just kiss her good night and wait in the other room. And then i turn the tv off when she sleeps. (wierd huu)
The tv in the living room are just a nightmare, she looks at a tv serie about some tv cook competion hells kitchen Chef Ramsay.(i had to google it:P)
This Chef Ramsay are just spawned right from hell, Gordon Ramsay are shouting at those poor sleepers:( (i dont look at the tv, but i can still here it)
I tell my GF you are literally killing me!! you know that right??
But the tv are mostly off now after i moved in...:)

I have not watched a single show or movie on TV for more than ten years. I literally get sick when I watch it now. Within minutes, I get outraged at the blattant brain-washing. But the commercials are even worse - those I simply cannot watch without shouting comments to counter the programming. Sometimes I come running into the living room wondering what hypnotic trick they're pulling with all those flashing lights. I see it from down the hall, my girlfriend sees nothing.
I am subjected to her TV watching 24hrs a day. The TV never gets turned off. I have learned to live with it. But I keep myself protected as well because that mind-control crap coming out of that box can literally control those not even watching or even in the same room.
But it is at night, when I go to bed (with the door closed) that I realize how extensive and comprehensive and effective their mind-control programming is. Because under the words and music there is a coherent hum that sort of sounds like an over-worked computer hard drive searching its contents for data. This hum is the mind-controling carrier wave and most do not know it is there. In my bedroom, with door closed, I cannot hear any music or words - but I hear the clicking, whirring, humming of this carrier wave. I block it with love and a smirk.
Radio, I am sometimes forced to listen to when working with the guys. That is much better but the commercials bother me a lot. And the grade 7 banter from the commentators drive me crazy. All about gay-bashing, sex and sports - how boring. But I love my rock-n-roll so what are ya gonna do, eh?

Can't stand those so called reality shows they tend to like to hurt folks in the public view, and i know folks who want to be on these shows, So I ask them "do you really want to embarrassed in front of the whole country and downgraded and yelled at in from of the whole country?" There is not one so called reality show that does not do this to a person, not one.
The news it just a means to keep the depression flowing in most who watch it.
People to degree are what they watch, if you are into drama you tend to watch those reality show.
If your into learning then you tend to watch certain channels like history channel and the like.
But in the end most folks tend to watch what there spirit tells them.
I see it this way if the spirit tells them to watch those drama show then maybe the spirit is telling them that there is something wrong in there life and they need to change it.
For some it takes time.
If the spirit tells them to watch the news, then maybe they really need to see the hidden issues, there spirits maybe trying to tell them that,
That as well needs time for them to see.
I on a subliminal level I was never effected, neither where my children, my son and daughter would rather read, write, on be on the net.
Very rarely would we watch a show that had nothing to do with our research.
I consider it all a soul contract of learning, for all involved on this planet, everyone wakes up on there timely schedule.

I do on occasion watch programs that I record, usually HGTV things, or paranormal stuff. I never watch the news, or unrecorded programs., unless there is a tornado in the area, in that case we turn on the radar, if we cant get to it online. In general, I find the noise from the tv annoying.

I generally listen to music anyway, or watch a DVD, or if I do end up watching telly it's more often than not if something quality from yesteryear is on - like "the sweeney", "minder", "fawlty towers" or something like that... The new stuff I find is generally bland.

Wow it is amazing to see how many people here have ditched the tv and radio! I'm sure it's no coincidence that there are so many aware people here...and so little tv watching going on. I have a memory of my first experience with television. I would have been very very young and I remember it felt unbelievably intensely powerful. Like a deep swirling vortex, it was at once very frightening and incredibly alluring at the same time. However, the more I watched it, the more 'normal' it became.
Tv played a big role in the end of my last relationship. My partner loved to vege in front of the box and it would drive me crazy because no matter where I went in the house I could not escape the horrible sound. Now it has been 5 yrs since I had that invasive technology in my home...luckily my current partner feels the same.
I do feel it assists with extricating ourselves from the matrix, and allows us to tune into our own vibe. It's the kind of thing that feels difficult at first ...but before you know you realize you are missing nothing, and have gained so much!

In my Humble opinion, WE have to understand the mainstream media
#1 What are their agendas ??
#2 What Journalists are favorable to our opinions?
#3 Sometimes the mainstream media lets out a nugget
of truth (sometimes lol)
About six months ago I was watching the news early one morning and their was
a scientist being Interviewed about a breakthrough in meta-materials.
He stated that an object of signifigant size was sucessfully cloaked!
Although that story never ran again, It was very Important! Im sure they were

I am a bit of a "shut-in", so I probably spend more time on my computer than most, and I watch movies on my computer fairly often.
In the past year, I watched reruns of Stargate Atlantis on TV ( I didn't have a TV when it came out, so had never seen it before) and a few other shows on the SciFi and History channels pertaining to "forbidden archeology", UFOs. etc.
Then I discovered that I could download Stargate onto my computer using my Netflix account, and I prefer my computer screen to my TV, so I watched it on my computer instead, which was much more pleasant.
My TV seems to emit a very unpleasant energy if I'm watching broadcast TV, but not if I'm watching a DVD on it from my DVD player.
I find commercials are so obnoxious and frequent, if I hadn't had a remote with a mute button, I never would have watched TV at all...
Are TPTB sending out some kind of weird toxic mind-numbing energy on broadcast TV? That would be typical, I suppose. (sigh)
I get DVDs from Netflix and watch them on my TV, but I rarely turn my TV on anymore otherwise.
I have found some enjoyable movies and BBC series on youtube.
There is a private site online with a collection of period dramas which I watch sometimes.
These current times are so tumultuous, so I find nostalgic movies like Pride and Prejudice and series like Upstairs Downstairs to be oddly comforting sometimes.
I wish they hadn't cancelled Stargate Atlantis though. I really enjoyed that, and actually was writing sequels in my head after I had watched the last episode. LOL!
I actually prefer reading, but our local library is very small, and buying books is not possible on my budget.

It's surprising what commonality I see in these posts. The sports shows are some of the worst hype and insane/inane commentary designed to fulfill the military hegemony of us versus them winner take all that I've ever heard. I find just the background noise when I'm in a bar or restaurant deeply irritating. Ever notice how television sucks the energy out of a room like a giant shop-vac and then fills the space with a huge infomercial designed to dumb and numb?
Not to get off topic, but what about newspapers? Another thread or just an obvious off shoot soon dispatched on this thread? I remember once watching the news (after not watching tv for a long period) and the anchorman said what would you think if you heard.......bla bla bla (can't remember). I began to think about it..what would I think if I heard...bla bla bla. As I began formulating my ideas, I was interupted by the anchorman saying "you would think bla bla bla". I remember being stunned...hey you #$&tard that wasn't what I was thinking at all. I wonder how many people don't even bother trying to formulate their own thoughts and just wait for the television to tell them what to think. Life without tv is liberating on so many levels!

I do still watch some tv, but mainly one or two programmes I like and whenever a good film comes on. Used to watch CNN and BBC World News - but now they just irritate me! I get all my news from the Internet - David Icke/Avalon/Camelot etc.

Craig, I wish we had one of those used book stores in my small town. I've patronized them too too, other places I've lived.
Your previous post reminded me of a guy I knew years ago when I lived on the East Coast. He was a young radical hippie professor and kept on top of a tall bookcase in his living room, as a kind of work of art/political statement/momento , a TV with an ax buried deep in the screen, which he had put there himself in a fit of rage at what was being broadcast. Needless to say, there was no other TV in his home. LOL
I speed read a newspaper once every few weeks just to check in on what people are currently being fed within the consensus reality, and find myself nodding and thinking "yea, that's about what I figured".

I watch tv, And I have to tell you folks there is some quality programming
on these days Keeping up with the Kardashians , Survivor, Jersey Shore lol just kidn
I do watch a lot of news Brian Williams, Bill O'reily, Anderson Cooper, Yahoo news
I try to get a wide variety, Anyway Anderson Cooper is my favorite. A few weeks ago he went swimming with great white sharks without a cage. Hes got balls ppl lol
Im sure they were
told to shut up !
The reason its good to watch some mainstream news at least is so we can read between the lines.
Its about what they don't say a lot of the time. That's how people like Bill Cooper was able to predict something terrible going to happen and that Osama would take the blame for it. With both mainstream news and alternative news, you should probably ride the middle of both and take neither as the whole truth, because bot sides are pushing an agenda at the end of the day. Does that make sense? It does to me...

Back in the sixties, I would watch TV maybe once in six months to see how the cultural messages would change and it was rather amazing even back then. About a year ago a sister lent me a TV series to watch on my computer. I was appalled by this lawyer type show which she found witty and sophisticated. It seemed as if the cultural values have become proto psychopathic. When my grand daughter visits, she (age 8) and I snuggle and watch some Hulu movie for kids. Some have heart but most are training kids to be mall rat consumers or undesirables if they don't follow the latest trends.
Sometimes I turn on the car radio but find it annoying and wonder why people pay extra for fancy car music systems and them blast them so loud that I wonder if the toddler in the back seat will be a deaf teenager.
Recently I have been wondering about the computer, too, especially conspiracy news radio, whistleblower interview shows, forums like this, YouTube news about HARRP, earthquakes, radiation, secret space programs, threatening comets, etc. It all makes me feel that the world's fate is so hopeless: conform to the norms and become a half human, half robot slave to the PTB.
Even as my generation grows older, I see too many people going through the hell of chemo and I wonder why they are willing to do so rather than just die. They trust doctors who are indoctrinated by big Pharma and never question all the drugs they are given.
So it isn't just TV that is scary; besides the sublimination messages, it is the fear building messages that see to be designed to destroy our hearts in all media.

I don't have/own a TV, however the internet is almost the same thing, depending on how you use it. I watch fluffy stuff (movies) on evenings when I need a break ... I call it my drug-of-choice. In general, TV is machine designed to program the watcher. I will admit that I just got back from house-sitting for someone for 2 days... they had a TV and I enjoyed watching some full length movies while I was there.
A couple of years ago I spent some time in bed from illness. I used TV then as a form of entertainment. I viewed old movies, and made it a game to watch the programing put in place back in the 1960s thru 2000 which has become reality now in the way people believe and behave.. Very interesting indeed!

SpiritHorse, can you link to this info about the HD technology spying stuff by any chance??
Many thanks
ND
That was the site I was referring to:
http://educate-yourself.org/lte/HDtvcovertsurveillanceagenda12apr08.shtml
When you scroll further down on that page, people are sharing their experiences.
Having read through it, I must say the bit where it says "I'm watching them" gave me the creeps! Does anyone have any proof of spy techniques going on (or any stories they would like to share).
All I can offer is that once, many many years ago before I was even awake, a guy who worked for Sky told me that there's secret mics in the box to pick up what you say. I honestly thought he was mental at the time. This has just jogged my memory. This is freaky...This was in the early 90's.

Our cell phones are designed the same way. Even if you cycle them off they can still be used to pinpoint your location and listen in on conversations.
I bet that even if you pulled the battery, it would still keep working for a time - ever seen the capacitors in a modern cell phone? They are big because they use a form of pulsed technology that extends the life of the battery.

When I came to the realization that we were not being told the truth on ALL news channels, and that regular programming was conditioning society, I still was compelled to watch, as if drawn. So I canceled cable TV and have no antenna. Its been 6 months. Best thing I ever did.

I have a family of four and I do not impose my *vote* on the others.
I can offer "advice" of a parent ... but I am not into a heavy hand.
That said I like watching dvds (I like movies which if patient enough to wait til they come out on dvd cost 1$ to rent instead of the theatres costing over 50$ with treats). I still like watching sports on occasion (but not nearly as much as when I was young).
I held off the flat screens as long as I could (until others broke down) as with the usa gov taking away analog triggered a red light. No doubt what was bad has gotten worse.
BUT ...
Free will includes family members. All I feel comfortable with is giving advice ... for better or worse.

Hi guys,
I will openly admit i watch t.v. quite regular,
Weather it be at my friends or at home if my family have it on, and My girlfriend who is onto this kind of stuff that we all know and love.
She still gets sucked into the media like a puppet, realty t.v. the soaps i get exposed to it all for at least a few hours a day.
Now the questions i want to ask you guys are these:
1# do you think this is affecting me
2# how do you think it is affecting me
3# should i try and stop this and how can i avoid the media influence
Thanks for your support guys, this is a matter that has been on my mind for some time.
Kind regards
Sean If you look at it as the ptb's illusion tool to sell you things you don't need, and manipulate your emotions to march at whatever drum beat they want for the day, I think TV would only strengthen and confirm your resolve to do without it whenever possible.... just my opinion. I have no doubt the signal from TV affects your mind/spirit , just stay on guard against the corporations agenda to keep you in a neverending shoppin line...

I've been around computers since 1973.
I purchased my first PC around 1983/4.
I've been on the Internet since 1995-ish.
Around 1993-ish the rules in the house all TV commercials were to be muted out, even if company was visiting.
Since my hubby gave me the boot in March 1999, I've NOT had TV. I've seen a lot of personal relationships flush, and it seemed that at least one of the two involved were heavy TV abusers.
For me the release from TV was a great opener for candle-light evenings & meditation. :)
I get all my radio shows, audio books, PDF's, documentaries & movies through the Internet -- currently torrents.
I used to share out movies [from 2000 to 2007] using approximately 400+ Gbytes per month, approximately equal amounts out as well as down.
After being cyber-hacked three times in a row, I've mellowed out my file swapping -- mostly documentaries, and a big C2C collection.
I briefly scan about one newspaper per month. My favourite magazine is National Geographic.
My vehicle has a MP3 player which usually has some downloaded talk shows or an audio book in it.
I watch at least two documentaries each day and at least 1 hour of talk show or some audio book.
I'm on the Internet at least 8 hours a day. I'm a big user of Wikipedia.
Most of my browsing is related to financial issues, be they price/time charts, financial reports, financial web-sites, some mechanism for filtering trading activity, or news related items.
I have some 6-8 Terabytes of files off-line, to re-watch subsequently or to share with friends.
A big motivator was the removal of deep degrees of ignorance that I grew up in, deep curiosities of many topics that began with UFO's & crop circles, and to reduce the likelihood of being side-swiped by some burgeoning trend that could be developing in my ignorance of it.

Have a tv. Watch movies or my fave - Fashion Police - when I have a quiet evening. But this doesn't occur so often. The kids will watch a bit of tv while I am cooking - usually 'Cars' or a Hayao Miyazaki movie. It's actually safer than having them go freerange, as when 5.30 pm hits, they start climbing up the walls and jumping off stuff and I wouldn't cope with the screams and bruises!
I listen to classical music when the kids haven't turned the all the dials in myriad directions and lost abc fm.
I put black tourmaline all over the tv (which the kids sometimes try to eat) and all over the wi-fi set up. Not happy about the amount of tv, but it could be worse.

I moved to the US some twenty years ago, and in that time I've been given three TVs.
It normally goes something like this: "Did you see the game last night?" "No, I don't have a TV."
Word gets around and a couple of days later someone turns up with a 'spare' TV, which I am too polite to refuse.
First I bought a VCR, then a DVD player (which died about 5 years ago). Let me know if you want a good TV.
I do watch movies (computer drives projector and stereo, great for opera) and keep up with (mainly alternative) news on the computer.
Mainstream news is a joke. They haven't yet mentioned that the economy is obviously about to walk off a cliff.
On the rare occasions I come across a newspaper (in a diner), I rip out the crossword page and throw the rest.

Great thread, Over the years on and off I've lived for a few years at a time without a TV. Its such a liberating feeling. I always remember going to somebodies house and they'd have the tv on and I would find myself mezmerized by all the pictures and sounds coming from this box that everyone in the room was fixated on.
At the same time I have watched my fair share of rubbish. I have never really owned a tv but I would be in a house share where some one else had a TV.
I dont own a TV now and I'm certain I never will again. but I did in my last place, when I was living in my own city I moved into an unfurnished house. My mum helped me to move in.
When she realised I had no TV she said, oh no, what are you going to do? I'll get you a tv, I tried to explain that I was fine, I didnt need one.
Any way a few days later she called with an old TV. Now, to get internet with my provider I automatically got cable TV, in fact you cant get internet without cable tv coming as part of the package.
I found I would turn on the TV in the morning while I was wakeing up thinking I'll turn it off after an hour. Over the course of about 6 months I got caught up in watching TV again. One week I realised I had watched Jeremy Kyle a few times that week! So I rang the provider and told them I wanted my cable cut off, they offered me 3 months free cable. I was caught off guard with that and I agreed, for a few weeks and realised they had pulled a fast one on me. I rang them back and just said get rid of it now please.

I've never had TV ( my family had got one in the 60s when I was a kid ).
Here in the UK we have the TV licience to think about. Even when I've been tempted to pick up a cheap telly at a car boot sale I've considered the licience and thought better of it.
In recent times they have been compiling a list of 'housholds' without a TV licience. They claim to be doing it to help reduce the wasted effort and cost of applying there heavy handed intimidation of non licience fee payers.
As I am one of the people on this list, I have some concerns about what might be the full purpose of this list.

If you're aware of the constant barrage of mental programming from TV you are able to not absorb it or have it affect you, of course that's only if you know you won't be affected and you are not in fear of being affected. To me it's almost like a game to see how unreal and shallow the brainwashing attempts are. I went through about a 20 year stage of no commercial TV. When my children were young we only played occasional movies for them, mostly uplifting musicals and fun fantasy type movies. Keeping our young children away from commercial TV was important to me so they wouldn't be as brainwashed as their peers. But of course I brainwashed them in the beliefs I had at that time. It's impossible to raise children without a huge degree of mental conditioning and one can only hope that the way they raise their children produces a healthy, happy and aware human being who is not brainwashed by mainstream cultural and corporate conditioning.
Now I watch TV. When I had a stroke about 6 years ago I began to keep the TV on constantly to drown out the loud sounds in my head. I managed to get rid of most of the sounds (and all other stroke symptoms) after several months because of using pulsed electromagnetic field therapy, but I do have a constant low humming sound now which gets pretty intense If I turn off the TV and have no music on. The meditation I used to do was to focus on the sound current and the sounds I hear are exactly the same and are constant. It's not tinnitus. I think I opened some kind of pathway in my brain when I had the stroke that keeps me connected to the sound current. If I keep listening to the sounds in my head I would be pulled out of my body way too often. The sound current is one way to leave your body and it's the way I used for many years of meditating. Keeping the TV on grounds me and keeps me in my body.
There are a few shows I like, mostly science fiction and NCIS type shows along with documentaries. I also agree with the couple of people who have said they like to know what's going on in society and how we are being programmed to think by those who control the media. It probably helps a lot to go through a stage of not watching commercial TV for many years so you will know how powerful the mental programming is. If you never go through that stage you may not be able to easily keep yourself from being influenced by the constant brainwashing. It also helps if you are the type of person who doesn't automatically believe that anything you hear is the truth. Even if people think they are telling the truth they are often unaware that they are retelling others lies or distortions, so they sound sincere.
I'm very aware of the electronic pollution we live in but I refuse to live in fear of it and will no longer hide myself from what's going on in the world. I enjoy seeing what I consider to be a rapidly changing and largely devolving civilization and feel lucky to be here in these interesting times!

No TV, no radio
as norman said - here in UK we are subject to a tax called tv license - lately the government started to consider subject to it all people who have means of watching TV - like i phone or computer. We have been harassed by the tv license people for years. I thing their purpose is to finally make you pay that license and so to motivate you to get a tv at the end - how many people would pay for something and not use it.

It drains me quickly and almost induces a dribble. The TV licence people harassed me a few years ago and I pleaded with them to send an officer around to finally put paid to there assumptions. It did not happen.

yea, I think they are going to try to morph the TV licience into a 'broadband' licience. They already shifted it from being a radio licience to a TV licience and it's almost sure they'll try the next shift.
If they do that I'll have to seriously reconsider my on-line status. At £145 a year it's a lot of money I could use for something else ( probably another government tax like car tax )

If I am at someone's house with a TV I to tend to get mesmerized by it. It drains me quickly and almost induces a dribble.
Thanks TATODAY

When you scroll further down on that page, people are sharing their experiences.
Having read through it, I must say the bit where it says "I'm watching them" gave me the creeps! Does anyone have any proof of spy techniques going on (or any stories they would like to share).
All I can offer is that once, many many years ago before I was even awake, a guy who worked for Sky told me that there's secret mics in the box to pick up what you say. I honestly thought he was mental at the time. This has just jogged my memory. This is freaky...This was in the early 90's.
First of all, let me say I have three T.V.'s and I keep them off as much as possible. I have some family members who watch certain programs, but if I was alone, I would get rid of all three.
Anyway, I know for a fact, that you can be watched thru the T.V.
One of my close friends had an experience with being watched thru the T.V. and that's all I better say about it.
So the question is, not whether you CAN be watched thru the T.V., it's ARE you being watched thru the T.V.
What I mean by this is are you being watched, because we are all being watched?
Are you being watched because you have become a target for whatever reason?
Are none of us being watched at the moment, and will we be watched in the future?
Another creepy thing that I just remembered, was reading about government surveillance of our conversations thru the landline telephone. Whenever you would receive a hangup phone call, that would be the Echelon or Carnivore calling back to re-establish contact with your phone to monitor your conversations.
As more and more people got connected to the internet and started using cell phones, this call back activity ceased completely.

No tv at all. Listen to radio in car, at times. Old "cd" player for yoga music. I had a tv hooked up to a dvd but noticed it was used to transmit elf programming into home, so got rid of it. Agree totally with law of attraction in that what you focus on you magnetize as your point of attraction. Media is used to keep most people drawing in some pretty unpleasant situations. My life is pretty amazing without it :)

I have both T.V. and Radio. I watch mostly news and sporting events as well as Ancient Aliens and Conspiracy Theory with Jesse Ventura. I do like to watch the lies the MSM are telling to get a better understanding of current events.
PS lately to watch TV makes me feel uneasy.

It drains me quickly and almost induces a dribble. The TV licence people harassed me a few years ago and I pleaded with them to send an officer around to finally put paid to there assumptions. It did not happen.

I like to watch movies and oldie shows. But I have noticed that watching regular TV affects my mood, and makes me apathetic. So I don't usually flip it on, unless there's a storm coming and need to watch the local weather to track where it is (tornado watches, etc.)
I remember when we lived in northern Vermont, when the boys were very small, it was a very rural area with no way to get reception without an antenna or satellite dish. We decided not to spend any money on that (since we didn't have any $!). No TV. It was the best decision! The years we spent there were filled with creative endeavors because there seemed to be so much time, away from distractions. I read to the boys a lot, and they developed a love for it as well as many interests that sprang from being exposed to a larger world. I began to write and draw/paint. I gave art classes to the kids, because the school didn't have an art program. There were kids who had never considered art before, who opened up to it and amazed their parents. Energetically, it felt like little flowers blooming all over the place! It was one of the best times of my life.

My ___ says TV cant manipulate his mind - as answer to my warning. Yet, he believes all the propaganda he is fed by the news and there is no swaying his opinion.
It is not only the adverts that mold our thoughts. It is the shows themselves that re-enforce our social behavoirs and beliefs. Most shows support our belief in our infallible police force, that you cannot get away with a crime - which of course is BS. Other shows tell us how to pick up girls or how to dress to get picked up. Other shows stereotype individuals. The beautiful airhead blonde being one of the favorites. But there is the ugly girl and her sweetness. The bodybuilder whos into himself, the no-soul business man, the tousle headed skinny genius, etc. To me this sort of programming is dangerous and insiduous. I won't even go into Jerry Springer-type shows. OMG! And most cartoons are even worse.
As for being watched through your TV: in the old days, with cathode-ray tubes, it was technically or theoretically possible to recieve input through the screen. Now, with flatscreens, they would actually have to place a camera in the screen because this technology is not reversible like cathode ray tubes were.

I have three TVs in my house. I like the History channel, Bio channel, comedy channel (hey a need a few good laughs from time to time) and movies. Plus my boyfriend would move out if he could not watch the NFL or NBA. I think the TV is bad for you if you are watching it all day or constantly getting caught up in it. I know that most of these reality tv programs are fake so it's more like entertainment and never taken as fact.

No radio or TV for 2 years here...
I own a small television that is connected to a DVD player only, and I hardly ever use that. With just the music CD of my choice when and if I want to listen to it, the energy in my home has become harmonic and strengthening. I have much more time now for introspection and meditation.
No newspapers, either... too much alarmist junk and negativity, and a fair amount of unfactual reporting. I keep up with world events through the internet and alternative news websites, researching and coming to my own conclusions regarding what is going on and why.
Forums such as this one have been invaluable to me in gaining perspective and expanding awareness. So, many sincere thanks to you, Avalonians, for helping to make this place a shelter in the storm of MSM junk.
I didn't suddenly quit mainstream media but slowly tapered off and found that the more I let go of it, the more peaceful my surroundings have become.
Now, when I'm out of my home and in the presence of a television, I am struck by the lack of real entertainment value and a certain immaturity in the programming. The 'nightly news' content seems like blatant propaganda to me now.
Weaning myself from all of the above has been one of the best things I have done.

I do not watch TV and don't own one in last 12 years.
Funny fact tho is i do alot stuff for tv dudes :)
done few documentary's, commercials, animations 'n stuff for few Tv houses here.
Thing is.. as i do that stuff alot i know what nonsense they selling into every single thing they show to people and simply cant buy it, sadly i see internet is going in Tv direction alot but with even more nonsene to offer :D
My speciality is adding / removing from recorded video .. thats called compositing and i can add or remove anything you like from video
And believe me... I remove alot! :D
Also one big point is when someone is making a tv show, like documentary, idea of director is not how to get message or something smart to listener, but how to make fun show and interesting behaviours without real value.

Forgot to mention, every year or so I watch tv when staying in a motel/hotel or at a friends place when staying over night, and am shocked each time by the ever increasing violence and the shortened sound bite breaks.......often cutting to another scene every 5 or 6 seconds! Drives me crazy!(though some would say that for me it would be a short trip)
The tactic of chaos, confusion, and then telling you what's what is quite effective.....Oh, gee, this sounds like problem, reaction, solution, doesn't it?

I have a TV, I play the playstation 3 on it occasionally, or watch movies through netflix. And I also watch shows from digital cable like this show TORCHWOOD, very interesting season.
But that might take up 5 hours of my week. The rest is at work, traveling to and from work, or practicing(for one of my jobs)
I have a question, do you believe that using a computer is better for you than a tv? or is it just something newer and more advanced?

We have direct tv and have 5 televisions. I almost never watch movies. Last one I saw was Ramona and Beezus, based off children's book. I saw Judy Moody And The Not Bummer Summer at the theater this summer, also based off children's book.
I like documentaries, comedy( I love Kathy Griffin), and I was totally hooked on Lost the last 2 years it was on and rented dvds to catch up. I was not "awakened" at that time, but I was wondering if any Avalonians watched the Lost series? I think that show may have contributed to my spiritual awakening a bit...I really loved how it ended.
I catch some of Disney shows, and I see the "Disney Programming" that is being delivered to children. First of all, there is a show called" Wizards of Waverly Place" and a few weeks ago there was a show titled "Wizards vs the Asteroid". I didn't watch it, but it appeared that it was about an asteroid that was going to hit Earth and the wizards had to use their "powers" to stop it. It seems as though Disney is programming children to the idea of possible catastrophe coming from outer space. Maybe it's an Elenin reference? It had to be filmed months ago.

Soap operas, sitcoms, and the news are deathly unhealthy ... My 2 cents.

Technology / viewing techniques exist to be able to pretty much watch anyone, anytime; heck US military satellites could pick out a dime on a sidewalk 25 years ago - by now I'm sure they can read your thoughts via satellite (and I'm not really being facetious here - the concept isn't very complex at all, and the technology exists). The question is, do they have the motivation to spend resources on you to do this?

I do have a TV I use for movie and Xbox. but I never watch TV-. Today I started an arguing with my grandmother about TVs while watching "loose change" on a norwegian channel. after a while she seemed to agree when I told her that when my cousin is watching TV (shes 3 years old), she is almost uncontactable when trying to talk to her, and my grandmother agree cus then she remembered. She thinks im a Fool who cant think clearly when I do show how critical I am towards 9/11 , TVs. the second world war. I think its so hard talking to her. shes kinda old, guess she dont want to know about something else, she lives her comfortable life. :) I guess its Ok,for her. but not for me. :) btw, I do not watch TV ;D

TV is a psychotronic machine. You are a receiver of filtered information and being exposed without awareness. It's a effective human manipulation tool. When you hear or see false truth thousands times, it becomes real.
I owned a TV half month in life. At that time I was learning English.
No TV nor radio. Why should I have them?

Sorry - haven't read any of the other comments, am replying to the OP.
We haven't watched television in our house since 1992. At first it was a matter of economics; we couldn't afford cable. Then it was a matter of loaction - we couldn't GET cable even if we had wanted to and none of the local stations came in clearly. By the time we got somewhere where we could not only GET cable, but afford it (2000) we realized that not only did we not want it any more, we didn't miss it. And our kids (now 15 and 19) seem to have been just fine growing up without it. In fact, I've definitely seen a difference between them and their peers in regards to attention spans. Conicidence? I doubt it :)

Interesting. I used to get these constantly, several a day to several a week. Recently, nothing. I donʻt have a cell phone BTW; no reception in the mountains here.
I read an article about these and about the technology that allows 2-way communications for tv. It had links to the US patent office to prove that the technology has been available for decades.
I do have a TV, a gift from a friend, but no service; itʻs used for watching videos. In my adult life, Iʻve had tv service about 6-7 years altogether. Most of it was when I had an accident that kept me at home with my leg raised and horizontal for several years.

Reminded me of Skunkworks CEO Ben Rich : "There are no private conversations anywhere on Earth."
Another part of the post reminds me of the rush to change to digital 3 years ago. I read an article on one of the pop science e-zines about the digital switch. One of the digital box CEOs I believe was being interviewed and said that the digital box DID see people in the room, but "just shadows or shapes" to detect if children were present for adult rated films and that sorta thang. Just protecting the children, keeping them safe.
Then a short while later there was a vid on youtube showing a digital converter box being taken out of a sealed carton, unwrapped and taken apart. The box appeared to have a small camera and mic - at least according to the person doing the vid. It appeared to be real rather than a hoax but Iʻm not an electronics expert.
And why was the govt helping Americans to purchase the converter box anyway? It cost the taxpayers billions of dollars to help people purchase the new digital TV converter if they couldnʻt afford it.

Masters of Science Fiction
I just discovered a sci-fi series that aired on TV in 2007 that I had not seen before called Masters of Science Fiction. I am watching season 1 consisting of 6 episodes (each about 43 minutes long), streaming onto my computer from Netflix (also available on DVD from them).
I've only watched the first 2 episodes so far, but they were quite good.
"Preeminent physicist Stephen Hawking hosts this series, which features science fiction stand-alones written and directed by various legends in the field, and stars celebrated actors such as Malcolm McDowell, Anne Heche and Sam Waterston.
Cast:
Stephen Hawking, Judy Davis, Anne Heche, John Hurt, Sean Astin, James Denton, Malcolm McDowell, Sam Waterston, Brian Dennehy, Clifton Collins Jr., Terry O'Quinn, Elisabeth Röhm, James Cromwell "
The second episode is about ETs disabling our nuclear missiles and precipitating "unity consciousness" on Earth, and I quite liked it.
The first starred Judy Davis, one of my favorite actresses, as the psychiatrist of the US president. I won't say more as it would ruin the suspense.
