"A series of lights in the night sky caught the attention of several people on an weekend outdoor activity in Moravia, east side of San José. One person took out his camera to record the strange event which continued for several minutes around 8pm Saturday night. Attending the Platanares de Moravia party were physicians, including Marco Vargas, director of the Trauma Unit of the National Children Hospital of Costa Rica, other professionals and agents of the Organismo de Investigación Judicial (OIJ), who all witnessed and surprised by the lights

chinese lanterns sometimes give the game away by appearing below the horizon and have intervals of passage as they go through the sky.
Also they appear to have a glow emanating from the top of the lantern.

IMHO.ho ho.
And from watching the ****ing things from my loft window for a good few years as they seem to be very popular where I live.

Oh, Flasky, that was an adorable question. :)

Chinese lantern simply refers to collapsible, paper lantern, usually made out of rice paper and bamboo sticks. A candle is placed in placed in the lantern, causing it to rise.

Lanterns are usually released in numbers at festive and ceremonious occasions, and has become a popular thing to do, internationally.

Also known as Sky Lanterns.
