I am making this post to highlight the inadequacies, inefficiencies and horrible lack of backbone that the United Nations exhibits. Virtually everything that the United Nation touches starts and ends in disaster. There is absolutely no reason for this to happen, there is plenty of money and manpower to solve this problem and others just like it.
The Story......Dateline September 5, 2011
A record 4 million people in Somalia need humanitarian aid and 750,000 people are in danger of "imminent starvation," the United Nations said on Monday.
Famine in the African nation has spread to the Bay region, which is now the sixth area in Somalia suffering from an acute shortage of food, according to the the U.N.'s Food Security and Nutrition Analysis Unit (FSNAU) and the Famine Early Warning Systems Network.
Officials are calling for a surge in response efforts as the crisis is predicted to get worse.
"With the current food security outcomes famine conditions are expected to spread to agro pastoral populations in Gedo, Hiran, Middle Shabelle and Juba regions and riverine populations of Juba and Gedo in the coming 4 months," Grainne Moloney, FSNAU's chief technical advisor, said in a statement announcing the latest survey results.
Of course it would require some things to happen that many people would not like. It would take force to go into Somalia and remove the current corrupt government. The rebel leaders that committed genocide against their own people would need to be imprisoned and it would take a degree of nation building to get this country on track. There would be setbacks, there would be failures and there would certainly be people dying.
There are many that probably think that this genocide can be halted through talking or through some type of negotiation but that would be wishful thinking. This crisis has been no secret to our world leaders, they have allowed this problem to gain momentum and it is now at a critical level. Talk would solve nothing at this late stage.
The alternative would be allow these people to suffer greatly and die a horrible slow death. Europe and the United States send enough aid to allow our leaders to sleep at night. This, for the most part is channeled through the UN which allows these corrupt bureaucrats to also get a good night sleep. Many countries in Asia pride themselves on having a good standard of living and gaining wealth by the day but their contribution to these starving nations is nil.
There are some doctors and volunteers committed to the struggle but not enough. The difference they make is for individuals which is wonderful but it does not help and entire society or even a community.
I am sure there are many that feel this is a direct result of the PTB eliminating population from planet earth. To a certain extent they would be right but I believe it is more a result of "people" from developed countries turning a blind eye to the problems and not caring enough to demand action by United Nations Leadership. We demand nothing of this organization, they are accountable to no one. Their failure on almost every disaster they touch goes unnoticed, unreported and we go about our daily business not really caring what happens in Somalia or other nations on the brink.
This can change regardless of what the PTB want, if the people of the world took a stand and forced the United Nations into action we could see some results no matter how small. The other alternative is to start calling for the dismantling of the UN, in today's world they are doing more harm then good.
I am not an advocate of one world government, but if we are going to have to live with a United Nations we need leaders there that can make a difference, leaders that can lead instead of being more concerned about where their new apartment is in Manhattan or which restaurants they can score reservations at for dinner in NYC.
The only way that we can find that leadership and force it into action is to demand it, to insist upon. As long as we turn a blind eye nothing will change!
There are two areas where we can make a real impact if we demand change one is with the United Nations and the other is with the Federal Reserve! Both organizations thought to be complex but in reality very simple to understand but greatly misunderstood.
