‘I Can’t Believe What I’m Confessing to You’: The Wikileaks Chats

On May 21, 22-year-old Army intelligence analyst Bradley Manning initiated a series of online chats with former hacker Adrian Lamo after a story on Lamo was published at Wired.com.

The chats continued over several days, during which Manning claimed that he was responsible for leaking classified material to the whistleblower site Wikileaks.

Weird.
First: he confesses to a complete stranger? Possible answer is this: [ Adrian Lamo (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adrian_Lamo) ] donates his time and expertise to Voluntary Legal Services of Northern California, a Sacramento-based nonprofit providing assistance to indigent and low-income clients involved in civil litigation. " Or maybe Lamo's connection to wikileaks. or both.
Guy says he's gonna be discharged, from what seem mental instability reasons (If i decipher it right- "pending discharge for “adjustment disorder” [. . .]")
Than he says he leaked all those stuff , then, if I understand it right, it seems he did not did that voluntarily. ("im a source, not quite a volunteer")

There is something "fishy" with the Lamo guy.He was a hero of sorts. Now I've got mixed signals, maybe he's on short leash himself (work for us or rot in prison type).. seems to be interested in Wikileaks, but also seems to be out of inner circle (and like to get into? assignment? If that, he just blown his cover)

Nevertheless, the leaked material was very powerful indeed. Hope it opened some more eyes.

SaiCO, I agree. This story gets stranger and stranger by the minute.

I do not get this guy Lamo at all. He has made money gifts to Wikileaks, who this guy has been in contact, then he runs to the PTB and gives this guy up.

Very strange indeed.
