"Buddhist roshi Joan Halifax works with people at the last stage of life
(in hospice and on death row).
She shares what she's learned about compassion in the face of death and dying,
and a deep insight into the nature of empathy."

That is a wonderfull presentation of and on compassion by Joan Halifax, thank you Astrid for posting it in the forum.
Yesterday I went for a walk,it was late afternoon and I found some peace and quiet in a local garden.there,I closed my eyes and listened to the few birds remaining on the tree When darkness came down slowly. When I made my way back home I heard the crying of a small kitten in the bushes.it was frightened and alone, probably hungry.I tried to reach it but the block of the thrones didn't allow mw to get close,I called him and asked for him to approach but he was simply there looking with wide open eyes and continued with heartbreaking wails.there was nothing I could do.I was 30 minutes walk from home.I turned on my heels and went on walking, his cries increased as if his last hope was diminishing.I came back and tried again to no avail, went on and back again.. at last ,I left crying myself for the little cat that is stuck in the bushes.
There is sorrow in our world,so much that I often think that some of us humans do have compassion but what about 'god',does 'he' has any??
At night, when going to bed,I read a few segments from Barbara Marciniak's book "earth"- it also refered to compassion and to death:
About compassion:
"On a planetary scale, the energy will lead you towards the opening of the center of emotion and offers a solution to the growing chaos.so when systems are crashing, use your emotions to move forword.Without emotions, especially those of love, you are doomed to destruction. You will experience feelings that awaken the soul. When these feelings connect to the heart in fibers of compassion, you will be able to capture reality through a source other than your rational intellect,So you start to feel your way into reality...Earth changes that occur as a result of this will formulate the final spin of consciousness that is needed to restore sanity, life - purpose and existence of significant proportions for those who will feel that the earth is their home"
About death:
"You compare the changes in the earth to death. On your planet you know almost nothing about death. Every twist in these have a tremendous opportunity to learn about death. For some of you it seems that when people leave, or die, a problem occurs, as if something is not done properly. We see the opposite: We see people who leave the planet equipped with a new perspective. This gift is given to them because many of you have an open heart and convey the purpose of subsidiary, and allows others to know and understand what purpose they came here. Not everyone came here to see the new earth. Are you able to understand that some people came here to die peacefully, without torture and pain,to die with a sense of liberation?"
"This is a challenge for each of you to help others leave the planet. It Does not mean taking their life. The life force that is you have a purpose and order and the more you communicate and stay with your body, the easier you make the transition.
At best, you will learn how to die consciously and deliberately,to stop the activity of your body. There's nothing to be afraid of death, except the things you imagine about it. everything happens according to an order from you,Trust yourself and shape your own experience. Dare to create the best"
"When do you fear death or pain, and the opportunity arises to help someone die, your heart might want to quit. You may think "I can not do it, I can not look at death, it's too scary." Keep your heart open. As soon as you will resign from the last vestiges of fear and misunderstanding, many of you will be called to work with the dead and to help release."
"One of the greatest gifts that you can give your parents is to help them on their way out of the planet, like the help they gave you to be present on the ground when they gave you the gift of life. They brought you into existence, andthis circle can be sensed."
"You can relate to being with people when they leave planet earth as a privilege. Maybe you will not be able to assist and accompany them when they are in their wakefull mind, because you mightnot want to return, however, you will not be able to avoid death in the coming years.it is a privilege, remember it all along - it's a privilege to help people die."
"There is healing in death, because there is life on the other side of death. While you are sending energy to people that are in transition, pass it also to earth. Supporte the earth in its process, and let her know that you want to be here and to participate in the transformation. This is a true form of enabling, when you give in and accept the process and allow the earth to make the necessary proces."

Astrid, I haven't watched the video yet, but will when I can get to a quiet place. Thanks for posting it.
Limor, thank you for the post about the kitten, and for the wisdom from Barbara M.
I must be into empathy this evening, because I keep thinking of the kitten, and your kind attempts to save it. <3
All love,
Marianne
