I started meditating roughly 4 years ago. My main focus when I began was chakra meditation. The very first time I did chakra meditation, I used a guided audio that incorporated chanting and verbal direction. I was totally amazed when I was able to actually feel physical, vibrational sensations at my chakra points. Over time the physical feeling of the chakras grew stronger and engulfed more sections of my physical body during meditation.
After a couple years of semi-regular chakra meditation, I decided to spend my meditation time on other things such as astral projection, getting in contact with my guides, past life regressions, etc.
Today I realized I hadn't done any chakra meditation in about a year and half so I dug up the old guided meditation, put on the headphones and gave it a go. After about 15 minutes of frustration, I gave up as I wasn't able to spark the usual feelings of my chakras charging up as I remembered them from before. I was bothered by the apparent fact that my vibrational state had dropped because I didn't keep up with the exercise. How can spirit be so fragile I wondered...
Having given up, I decided to take a nap and sleep off the frustration. When I awoke about an hour later, my entire body was buzzing and charged - much the same as I remember it from the peak of my chakra meditation days... only stronger. This "charged" vibrational state stayed with me the rest of the day and is with me even now as I type this.
Finally it dawned on me - this vibrational state, at some point, became the norm. I couldn't get that spark from today's chakra meditation because I was already in that higher state - and I have been for quite some time now. I was trying to achieve the same reaction from the past when I was in a lower vibrational state... no wonder it was frustrating! Now its obvious to me that essentially what I was trying to do was feel the burn from lifting 10 lb weights after having trained that muscle for years at heavier weights!
I'm feeling very good about this, so I thought I'd share! ;)
