My kid just started to attend a new school, it is part of an american school consortium named "Meritas", they have an strange logo, the teachers don't know what it means, so I'm posting it here hoping that you may help me figure it out:

I wonder why 12 rectangles?, is that the sun top right?, what's the rest? a constellation maybe?

OK, I'm in. The four dots look similar to the stars of the southern cross. This is a long way from the current plane of the ecliptic, so the 'blue' star could not be the sun or the moon. Perhaps it's a comet or asteroid- some approaching space object. Perhaps, if we knew the object and its planned trajectory, then this could actually give us a time when it is in this position relative to the SC. There, that's a start.

So the teachers don't know what it is , maybe the principle, if not then I would be asking the higher ups and if a no-go then I would worry.

I really think this has some kind of hidden meaning, I will ask the principal, but even if he has an answer I'm afraid he wont't have a clue about the bottom of it...

A quick google and I've found Meritas Wealth. www.meritaswealth.com (Hmm.. should I have posted that link?) The symbol for this is obviously masonic, but what is striking about it is the blue background and a similar blue sun. Often corporate logos, and others, when strung together can tell a narrative, as they are created by the same secret societies. Once again, just using fuzzy logic.

Hello hedigoto
I cannot help with the symbology but I am pretty sure that meritas is Latin for 'deserved' ...
Hope this helps. JP

Interesting that the A in the Meritas logo looks like a pyramid with a rising sun.

There seems to be an entire collection of 'MERITAS' organizations, probably all linked-but the educational arm is:
http://www.meritas.net/podium/default.aspx?t=134887
There are Legal, financial and the above. you can request information from: http://www.meritas.net/about/requestinfo
Looks like a definite 'Ethos' of values and vision, yep Meritas is certainly a Latin expression from which we have 'Merit'
You obviously are sending your kid to a private school huh?
Cheers

Well, the Principal finally came back with an explanation, he says the four white dots signify students in different levels of cognition, and the star (thats what he says it is) top right is where the school is trying to guide them...to the light up right...żżż???--I really think the principal doesn't have an idea of the true meaning of it, or if he does he doesn't want to share it....his explanation doesn't make a "click"...there must be something else here...

First of all I think there is 13 rectangles including the large one composed of 12. I also agree w/ the interpretation of the Southern Cross for the dots. As far as the word meritas if it means "deserved" the overall meaning is hard to decipher. Is this an Australian or Kiwi org?

I believe it is an american organization.

Honestly speaking... I design logos and things like that... Many times logos really aren't that deep. Sometimes they are. 12 boxes certainly probably doesn't mean anything... Usually when you have a super-symbolic logo it will have some kind of ancient motif and symbols referencing ancient times or some diety. If it's important, then by all means look into it. But an institution like a school probably doesn't have the resources to fund that kind of R&D behind that kind of logo.
Meritas=meridians=lines. The stars are probably a half-way job at symbolizing space or excelling to the stars. It isn't a very good logo at all, and a half attempt at trying to be symbolic. That's my professional opinion.
Edit: After reading my post - stargates do occur on meridians if I'm not mistaken... So stars juxtaposed with the meridians could be a clever way of showing stargates to higher learning, lol. Just a thought. Symbols collected together could mean all kind of unintended meanings in all honesty though...
Edit2: Could be a half-attempt at illustrating ascension. The creator probably isn't even close to being an initiate and probably ran a google search or something.
