What Is It?
On September 15th, at various public locations worldwide, people will hand out their own money to complete strangers (two coins/notes at a time) asking the recipients to pass one of these coins or notes on to someone else.
The Aim?
Raise awareness and start conversations about the benefits of economies based on sharing, as well as offer a liberating experience that gets us thinking more critically and creatively about our relationship with money and how we could have new types of economic activity.

What an idea! I wonder what it will bring about in recipients of free coins who have no clue what's going on...

You have to explain to them the meaning behind it when you give them the free coins. It's a way of creating opportunity for discussion and awakening or even just opening the minds of people.

I think the impact would be even greater if regular people like you and I just grabbed our wallet that day and did just this.

Sorry I don't get what you mean about the impact being greater? That's exactly what it is! Did you read the website?

Well, from what I understood from the website, you have to register and it's all official. But if it's like a spontaneous act that day, you know, just going for a loaf of bread and giving people a few coins on the way back home...
That's more impressive, because people will not associate it with an organisation but with an individual, like them...And then it could be something they could mirror themselves to.

Ok I see what you mean. Well registering on the site is optional, so you can still do it without registering. I wonder how people would react if you just went up to them and gave some money. My feeling is that they would be so shocked they would get suspicious and not accept it, or take offence that you are suggesting they are poor or something. If you are brave enough to try it let me know the response!
This guy gives money out on the subway, it's pretty funny....

I don't think many people understood him going by the grins on their faces.
I would opt for a slightly different approach but I do admire this man. A doer.

Yeah I agree, I think they just think he's a crazy guy. I don't really bother trying to awaken people with words anymore. I think it's futile. When they are ready for it they'll awaken naturally anyway. Yeah I agree there are better approaches than his!
