I am trying to get into my hotmail to check a letter and when I click on hotmail my browser comes back saying it is unable to find hotmail.com
Can anyone tell me if California is still outside the Pacific Ocean, or can I assume that the hotmail servers are surfing the damn ocean through Carolina ?

I don't use hotmail.com myself ... but trying it now, it seems to me that
It's up.
It's owned by Microsoft.
It's IP address is in Redmond, Washington.

LOS ANGELES—A power outage cut electricity Thursday to a large swath of Southern California, as well as parts of Arizona and Mexico, causing a nuclear-power plant to shut down and exacerbating strains from a heat wave.
More than one million utility customers in San Diego County, parts of Orange County, parts of Arizona and the Mexican state of Baja California all lost power after a line transporting electricity from Arizona power plants to California customers failed, according to the California Independent System Operator.
The loss of electricity also forced an automatic shutdown of the San Onofre nuclear-power plant in San Franciso

Hmmm for some strange reason my hotmail is not working.
Says
We did not find results for: www.hotmail.msn.com
You can also try the suggestions below or try typing a new search above.
I wonder.....if there is a problem somewhere else.
I am glad California has done slide into the Ocean yet. I like to watch Baywatch

Guess they must be just having server problems in Ontario ....associated with perhaps American Servers....prob.....due to the massive power outage as a result of California's earth quakes

There is series of X-ray flares from our Sun for five days in a row this week. May be it has something to do with power outagges and servers problems?
Below is a link to NOAA page with 7 days history of sun events:

Dear Gary-Arsenault, to your dilemma on accessing your "hotmail" account, it seems like this has been an ongoing problem for many. I've had my hotmail account for years and I noticed one day my info. did not go through or wasn't recognized. I would re-enter my log in info and then I was taken to "hotmail live" page which never happened before...from there I was able to access my account. The next time I tried to access my account, my log in info would not go through. This went on for a couple days. When I could get into the "live" page (which is not the e-mail page, but the page that lists all the options for hotmail), I then tried to access the Windows "help" center. When I got to this section, I found a page that offered help via other hotmail users or you can submit your problem to a support team member who should respond within a short time window. In this "help" section, I could see that this was not an isolated incident, but something big was going on. I think when they start doing updates on programs like hotmail, these changes could and most likely do affect how your p.c. reacts to them. In my case, I think it was the browser that I had been using. I'm horrible at this stuff (technically speaking), but I did the Windows updates and I updated the browser (I think....sorry for not being absolutely sure) and I'm able to access my account again. I got so frustrated at one point, I opened a Yahoo e-mail account and transferred all my hotmail contacts to Yahoo. They have a tool that allows you to do this. So now I have 2 e-mail accounts!! ha ha Don't know if this is helpful....at all, but I just didn't want you to feel you're alone on this issue. Btw, I live in Santa Monica (Los Angeles, CA.) and as far as I know, I'm still dry!!! AND HOT...REALLY HOT!!! Sheesh! Cheers buddy, D

The website http://downrightnow.com/hotmail reports a major hotmail degradation, beginning about six hours ago now, but seeming to get somewhat better over the last 30 minutes:

Paul, do you know what would cause a major degradation?

I don't know what caused this one ... anymore than the guesses above that it was the power outage in Southern California and Arizona.
