had heard that there was a coronal mass ejection with the Sun and that we should expect some northern lights activity in Carvel, Alberta, Canada. I went outside at about 10:30PM Mountain Time, and it peaked around 11:05PM Sept. 9, 2011.

I was in northern Alta the day before yesterday and in the evening the northern lights were going pretty good then, along Hwy #43.

Great picture, Jagman!
I noticed on Google Earth that you are approximately 53°31' North. Is it unusual to see northern lights in Carvel?

I thought Carvel sounded familiar. I passed by there in 1980 on my way from Jasper to Edmonton. I LOVED the Icefields Parkway from Banff to Jasper!
