Ulli,
You have me in hysterics this morning with my coffee. :)
Good.
That means particle day is for real.
(Particle means tickling people's parts. )
Must include auraucaria here, as well,
as (sh)he is my muse...
the anima complementing my animus....
And vice versa.
I think forum rules allow waving only

When I announced yesterday that today was going to be particle day I didn't realize I was postulating a major weather change.
The whole of Costa Rica has become hazy, and we are told on the news this is due to Sahara dust...
Last time this happened was about three years ago.
Considering that Sahara dust is mostly made up of the accumulation of thousands of years of camel dung....
I will be canceling particle day, and just settle on wave day.
That is surf wave, not tsunami....ok?

Hello Villagers--
Synchronicity and irony are the gold star words for this past months' events. Of course, just as I had gotten used to the idea of parenting three children and announcing it--I even more abruptly had to get used to the idea that I wouldn't (yet). On July 19th, I mourned the possibility of this third unexpected child. And though I am still grieving the loss, I am now at point to see what blessings are possible manifestations of that loss-- and use them to their fullest.
And far less tragic but sadly as impactful was that my smartphone was stolen while I was providing asked for assistance in a neighbor's domestic violence situation. I ashamed to admit how much that affected my daily life-- wow. It was my phone's hotspot connection I depended on for my net surfing---so when I was finally ready to start talking about the broken mess I became because of that pregnancy's end-- I couldn't.
July has been one huge face slap of reality--- and though it has been unpleasant-- I have come to assess my current situation and moving from it with critical realism. Taking full acceptance of my shortcomings and how I have allowed them to weigh me down. Seriously, I've had enough of the kinda good enough life or I'll make it work-- really those are the type of things that just hang in the closet with the tags on it. So basically it's yard sale time--- or just put it out on the curb time-- it's taken me a while to get this point and I know it will take a lot more time and sweat to get what is worthy in every facet of my life--and I'm ok with that.
Anyway, I'm attempting to catch up and hope I'll be able to be a more regular presence. On Saturday, I'm getting real internet hooked up and cutting out the TV-- baby steps...
And Ulli, I just read about the passing of your friend and share that feeling of loss in a different yet timely way...((Hugs)).

That's interesting...one thing im very sensitive too is feeling trees/plants vibrations and a marijuana plant was one of the strongest ive felt...a lot of vibration coming off of tht plant! It seemed more alive then other plants to me because of tht.
I used to lay under a canopy of them and just breath; if felt very right, very relaxing.

A lot of noise in the forest tonight. The creatures are out.
I'm sitting on my front porch under a dark moon listening to a chorus of frogs, crickets and coyotes howling across the forest.

In all seriousness though this thought crossed my mind as I look at the picture...I guess if u take the story to be truthful in some way...this doesn't make much sense. Why would adam and eve all of sudden feel the need to put clothes on but this tribe doesn't? Makes it seem like we were animals groomed for something different...

I feel bad for the parents in this situation because all they wanted was to be compensated for not only the damage done to their property but fracking also jeopardized the well-being of their family’s physical and mental health and, rightfully so, they wanted to be compensated for that too! To agree to also have their children gagged to keep the deal intact is something that they are going to have to live with for the rest of their lives. One wonders how they can even look at themselves in the mirror every morning after agreeing to something like that but they sure didn't have much choice in the matter, did they?

Woke up today in a haze. Felt, at first, aweful. I could not understand what was wrong with me. Got a zap last night from the master, I learned today. Feeling better now, with a death grip on my grounding stone. Was thinking about something last night of importance but I cannot remember it now.
As an update, my weapon attachment for my staff has been shelved. It is too dangerous. That thing could kill, I tested it and it was far more effective than I'd hoped. It is not my style, so the project is cancelled. The staff is repaired and painted up nice, but it will not get a weapon attachment. Besides, what I'm learning now is a far better weapon if it is ever needed for that.
My new project is a lightweight telescoping laddar I can carry around on my back along with my tools. No car is a bit of a bother, I must admit when you are in construction. Not much fun arriving on site with an overstuffed bag full of tools when every one else comes with a service truck. This job I'm doing now requires that I buy a laddar that I will then leave behind because it costs too much to transport home.
Oh well, that's my bed, I made it now I have to sleep in it. It's alright. Had I had the proper facts to base my choices on I would have chosen differently. So, given what I had to work with at the time, I chose very well, keeping my integritry intact and sacrificing my convenience and comfort instead. Quite the opposite of what most decided for themselves given the same set of lies and deciet fed to us as truth. In light of that, I am mollified.
There, I feel better already.

Every year, sharks kill 10 people.
Every year, 100 people die from being stepped on by cows.
Every year thousands die and millions are sickened by drinking milk from cows who have been kept in pens, fed GMO grains and shot full of antibiotics, only to have many of the remaining nutrients in the milk destroyed by the heat and pressure of pasteurization and homogenization.
Drink the real milk (http://www.realmilk.com/) - raw milk from grass fed cows.

Every year thousands die and millions are sickened by drinking milk from cows who have been kept in pens, fed GMO grains and shot full of antibiotics, only to have many of the remaining nutrients in the milk destroyed by the heat and pressure of pasteurization and homogenization.
Drink the real milk (http://www.realmilk.com/) - raw milk from grass fed cows.
http://www.publicdomainpictures.net/pictures/10000/nahled/1-1210683375MNYR.jpg
Here's another:
If farmers fed the cows grass for the last 5-6 days before slaughter, the vast majority of the toxins, specifically parasites and viral/bugs.. would be washed out of them and the meat would be so much healthier for humans to eat, that tens of thousands less people would die from eating at and it would actually be far more healthy to eat, on average. The medical systems would save many billions of $$ per year. (10-20 billion a year)
But is not done, as it would cost the farmers about $5-10 (max) per cow to get it done. It should be mandatory, ie, forced by law.
But, if they did that, they'd be forcing the understanding that the way the cows are fed is very unhealthy. For the cow and the people.

Real question is how has it come to this?
Totally absurd issues regarding food sources in many countries now ... really beyond any sane excuse.
Cities cannot "afford" sending cops to shootings ... yet there seems to be no shortage of funds for those outrageous raw milk and organic food farmers ...
Does no one else here see how freakin' ridiculous this has become???

Jeepers Carmody our cattle, dairy and beef live on grass all year round. And there is absolutely no need to be cutting down rainforest to be feeding cattle either! Holistic management and mob grazing can bring back deserts to fine grasslands again but it takes stock to do it. Desertification is caused by taking stock off land and also set stocking the land. This can be reversed by replicating how the great herds moved naturally a hundred years ago.
Also there is no shortage of land in America for stock to graze on. There are so many absentee owners. Budding farmers can lease land for next to nothing from all reports. And using Holistic Management methods can make a good profit.

As I speak my truth I must be prepared,
For others to feel, react, and share,
If I can get over feeling threatened and scared,
I will learn the lessons Life has for me there.
Did you feel that new Moon in Leo? Now get ready for Mercury to go into the fire and square Saturn this week! Remember that things are not as bad as they look/feel during these transits. It can be a time of deep reflection and new understanding if you take the time and have the determination to stick it out. The Friday Moon/Venus conjunction will lighten it up and some fireworks may fly when She moves into Libra Saturday......Injoy!

Whatever the "end of days" is supposed to be, to me it marks merely transition.
There is no end, and there won't be a collective mass dying event.
Before I turned spiritual I lived a city life, full of stress and ambition,
only caring about worldly things and my own success.
Then came my awakening, and I knew I could not continue my old patterns. That was in the late seventies.
So the adjustment to my rebirth, the letting go of old habits, which I knew did not serve me well,
was really rather painful. But there was no end, ever. Only new beginnings.
Now Im living a life free from desires, always grateful,
and with the ability to manifest all that I need. Serene.
When I have a spell of discontent it's my lower self pining for the cheap thrills of my earlier life.
Knowing this I just ignore that voice, and get back to the Here and Now, my true home.
Ok, that's the story of one individual.
What is happening in the world at large is that the time has come for the collective
to go through the same type of transition, for humanity to wake up,
and experience such a period of massive changes, one individual at a time.
But it's not the end of the world, never. It is 'childhood's end', or the end of adolescence,
and the beginning of humanity becoming mature.
The meteors, tidal waves, comets, etc, are all inner dimensional harbingers of the changes which will happen as people make their adjustments on a large scale. Businesses will close, new relationships will be formed, house moves, etc...
Change change change.
Once I got safely to the other side, the life Im now living, I had to thank the divine hand for the miraculous guidance
that was made available during the darkest moments of my transition years. It became obvious that a higher intelligence knew what it was doing.
The same is now true for humanity at large. Mankind will not be left alone, to die, but must pass through these tests and trials to have its diverse limbs cemented together, to become one being.

It took me years and years to learn that the way to jump off the hamster wheel is by an act of willingness to be happy.
In the past I had always wanted outside influences to change my state of mind,
but I learnt finally that it has to come from within.
In the end I could not even use my chemistry as an excuse for those depressions.
It was simply my old self kicking and screaming...
and negative thinking, cynicism, pessimism, bad outlook on life.
So I shut it up with the occasional gummy bear bag, or ice cream.
But just step into happiness was tough, and humor finally did it for me.
The wheel is still spinning now, but the hamster is dead.

Greetings, villagers. Life is busy these days.
Manifesting seems to be a process of continual movement that is augmented by being able to pay attention to everything going on around me and being able to determine what is pertinent to moving forward and also what arises to take me in the wrong direction. And both seem to be occurring. Being able to differentiate between the two can be difficult if desires get in the way.
Once when I was younger I gave up a great job with a future for another job for more money. Seemed like a good decision at a time but ended up being terrible. A good lesson, one that brought me to the realization that following a path of inner fulfillment was much better than following one of economic gain. It literally came to the point where it was impossible for me to be able to stay someplace where I felt I no longer fit. This became so extreme, that I gave up a guaranteed job with no replacement in sight, leading to an extended period of unemployment.
Still being in the phase of life where economic concerns are still prevalent, small children to take care of, mortgages and car notes pressing, is the conundrum that leads most to accept situations that do not align with their self-perceived life-paths.
But living in times where so much is on the line, where we are not guaranteed a tomorrow that is somewhat similar to today gives rise to an even deeper state of cognitive dissonance.
If the world changes, how much will the world I've invested years or decades in creating, change? If the world changes, how much will I need to change to keep pace with it?
For me, the answer boils down to a small smile and a warm joy that births inside of me. To the realization that I have not invested my life in the accumulation of material possessions. That, if there is fundamental change, walking out into the world with only the clothes on my back would not present me with any internal difficulties. Or, perhaps it is the anarchist scorpio within me that seeks to bring order to outer chaos and conflict, that thrives in unstable and evolving conditions and environments. But, perhaps, it is what seems to be a certain knowledge that the world cannot continue as it is and it will change beyond recognition in our lifetimes.
And if it doesn't? Each moment will continue to bring its challenges and the peace that lies beyond will still beckon in the silent moments and the stillness of zen living. Personal and collective evolution will continue without dramatic and traumatic shifts and life will be in the details and the joys of total immersion in the now moment.
Come to think of it, that is the future, regardless.
So it is ALL good. No matter what.

Here's a short poem by the Swedish poet Karin Boye (she was a lesbian who tragically took her own life in the middle of the last century)
Vad befriar människan?
Inte är det tingen
Prylar är ett satans band
När man vill lyfta vingen
What liberates man?
Not the objects
Odds and ends are the bonds of Satan
When you wish to take wing

I'm glad you're recovering, Transiten, I do not know much about lime disease except that it can be very serious and gotten from ticks. So your return to health is a real blessing indeed. When I was younger, I got a Scorpio tattoo on my upper right shoulder blade. Not someplace that could be visible unless I was shirtless, but my ode to a generation's preoccupation with body art. I thought it was pretty cool but never really considered what I was doing in a larger view. I knew that in some traditions, I'm thinking particularly of Judaism here, tattoo art was considered to be wrong but I never considered why.
The esoteric reasons why that might be the case only became clear when I saw the movie, "What the Bleep Do We Know", now many years ago. It was the scene where Amanda was lying in the bathtub after realizing the power of water and the power of intention. She had written affirmations all over her body and had immersed herself to take full advantage of the power of creative visualization. Tattoos are a marker of intention. Impressing into your skin, in your field, a belief, or a reality, image or idea that then "sets" itself, becomes an even firmer and inviolate part of your overall being.
I still appreciate tattoo art, may even get more. Maybe not, I seem to have no strong feelings either way. But when I look at some of the things that people put on their bodies these days, I really have to wonder if they realize what kind of reality for themselves they are imaging and intending into being. All of that said, to say, I guess I'm biased in the matter, but Scorpio is a pretty interesting star sign, one that I've perhaps over-identified with at times. It's just really really strong in me. Transformation seems to be my thing in this life. :)
Hmmm, Calz. Admin Dude. Thanks for the reminder, I might have to put that title back in use.

Are you talking about international law?
The photos I saw seem to be mostly from China,
where it appears anything goes,
as far as animals is concerned.
If they forbid the dying of pets
they might also consider not putting them in their soups.
I have seen some shocking stuff.
Also, I need to mention, I'm not in favor of messing with pets in any way, other than keeping them clean.

I also find most grooming excessive.
Well Uli I can only speak for here in the US...im not certain about other countries?

I know many of You have slept with crystals and such under Your pillow through the years...the past few nights my dreams have been phenomenal involving Loved Ones/ Family/Friends in past/present and future type scenarios of well, just fun and reunions and reconnections. I have put 2 sizable quartz crystals either side of my head under the pillow at eye/temple level...it has been, ummm, out of this world : )

Good morning, my friends. Am temporarily stuck in the city, car trouble, since yesterday. It is funny how this happened, like the Universe had a hand in it. Since Em and I live so far from civilization, shopping doesn't happen often. Which I have no problem with, haha. But it does make things like school clothes a bit of an adventure. So we set out with a plan, a strategy, to hit only certain stores on a very well thought out route, starting out by us and eventually ending up in the city. One day and done.
It worked quite well, this plan. Power shopping. We were at our last stop, decided we would head home, exhausted but feeling we had accomplished more than we normally would in three trips. Got in the car to head home, car wouldn't start.
As it worked itself out, we are reminded how much we have to be grateful for. Even though the old pos we just got for M wouldn't start, which was the back up plan, and even though Mike and Little One were two hours away in the country anxiously awaiting our arrival home.
I am reminded, blatently and unmistakably, Universe is taking care of us.
Grateful for a cool place, grateful to be in the midst of family, grateful to still have this place in the city, grateful to have learned how to create this shield, and grateful to be returning to the peace and quiet very shortly.
It is okay. Love to All,
Jake

Amazing how the universe works! Love it. Wouldn't have it any other way. A couple of weeks ago, the clutch went out on mee truck, as I was going over Snoqualmie pass. We were delayed just long enough for my wife and I to take a walk with the dogs. We found a small cave and huddled in it for fun. We had a blast! We did not make it to our appointment, but we found out later that the clinic that we were going to had shut down for the day. (some flooding damage, and they had to close for the day)
When we got back to the truck, and tried to engage the clutch,,, it was fine!! No problems. We simply drove home with huge grins. It has not happened since, and I have taken it to a shop to see if there are any problems, but nothing.
Love this universe!!! Jake.

Yes, Jake, exactly! On Friday, I realized I was sending out entirely too much negativity about this trip...dread, anxiety, a bunch of knotted up crap. So I changed what I was sending out, I visualized the roads we would travel, visualized the stores, visualized how much fun Em and I would have since we can giggle for hours over thing most people don't even notice. I visualized the salespeople, the whole experience. And I sent out nothing but good stuff.
First store, Em must have tried on fifty shirts, no joke. Now normally, she would have gotten all upset and then I would have gotten upset, but instead we ended up with a whole bag full of stuff she adores :)
At about 3:00, we were wearing out. Had done jeans, shoes, and shirts. Had to finish up with some gym type shorts for marching band. It was about 105f, in the middle of the concrete jungle, no shade for miles, got into the car and put the key in, it turned over but wouldn't start. I looked at Em with a hint of panic, she looked back with the same. Took the key out, put it back in and it started right up. Now, if the Universe had not been taking care of us, we would have been stuck about 30 minutes away in the heat in the middle of thousands of people and their collective stress, in the heat of the day in Texas.
But no. Got real close to our house here, finished up, then the car died. Just so happened that K and her boyfriend were getting ready to go to a wedding, had just enough time to get us, and our haul, home where we would be fine. Funny, they left thinking we would go on home to the country. We grabbed the key, jumped in the pos, wouldn't even turn over. This morning? Pos started right up. Haha. Just to make sure we stayed here though, the pos (unbeknonst to us until the light of day) also had a flat tire. So the (obvious) reason it wouldn't start is because if it had I would have gotten stuck at night outside our neighborhood with a flat tire.
So, for whatever reason, and I do Trust there is a reason, we stayed put. There are so many more ways the Universe intervened, but that's enough sharing for one day.
Have an awesome day everyone :) I know we will...

Jake and 1inMany, both your stories remind me of my ancient convertible VW in Barbados. The gas gauge didn't work, and I would run out of gas quite frequently. The weird part was that it never happened when I was in the middle of nowhere...like some sugar cane field, which could have been dangerous, but always within feet of a gas station.
Or uphill from it, so I could just let it roll right in.

Go check your tooth pasted, does it have Fluoride or SLS in it? that's FAR worse for you than a simple dye that men and women use(, especially in their elder years) quite often.

Neither he nor the two machinists who worked with Simon for 40 years

Understandably they are upset.
Of the dozens and dozens of Simons's white friends (all elite types)
apparently I was the only one who reached out to his black coworkers

White minority life in the islands has meant integration for some,

Thanks so much for the smiles and laughs this morning. Hamsters and psychedelic kitties. Hey Donk, your comment about going to Newport, Oregon made me laugh because I work at a KOA in Newport, WA and we got a call from someone on the road wanting to make a reservation. Beautiful jewelry Ulli, and also had to nod my head in understanding when 1inmany was talking about car trouble.

All our cars are older so I can understand some maintenance issues, but all in the same weekend? It is truly odd. Must be a message in there somewhere. I hope the message is not that nature doesn't like cars, haha, because though this is more than likely true, we depend on them...and will continue to depend on them until we don't have to any more. Animal totem...
3 times in the past weeks I have seen stunningly beautiful, metallic teal-green bees. The last one flew into my car when I opened the door, and proceeded to walk in a circular route on my seat. Somehow, I knew it would not sting me, so I put down my hand and let him walk onto my fingers. Once removed from the car, he did not want to fly away (unlike most of the bees and wasps I liberate from my house - they usually take right off.) This little guy just wanted to walk around on my hand. After a minute of this, I decided to give a gentle puff of air to help send him on his merry way. Nope. He just hunkered down, weathered the gust, and started walking around again. I was in the middle of a parking lot, no where near vegetation to coax him to go to, so I was finally able to coax him to walk on the luggage rack on top of my car (and assumed he was just fine, and departed whenever he wanted when I then drove away.)
More than once in the past, I have laughed when I let some tiny creature out of my house, thinking that it was probably highly sentient - possibly even a reincarnated Buddha. (Note to reincarnating Buddhas: please do not reincarnate as a mosquito!)
Well, this little guy was probably highly sentient. At least, we communicated. (Or, perhaps he was sentient and I am merely under the illusion that I am sentient.)
So, I guess I have a bee totem right now.

Much Love,
This is my theory. Once a person has woken up and opened their mind to the supernatural world, especially the higher world, then an orderly unfoldment takes place...like, lesson 1, lesson 2, lesson 3, etc.
When I started to study astrology, reading a pile of books, all with great interest,
I suddenly would be meeting people of the same sign...
there would be the month of the Geminis.
Later on I would meet only Aquarians, etc.
This pattern went on for years.
I'm convinced that when one is observing one's dreams and thoughts,
paying close attention, then one will see the correlation, between the inner and outer, until eventually the biggest AHA! moment of all arrives...
that the self causes stuff.
Blockages of traffic, broken down cars...at the root is often either too much ambition and desire, or a real fear of what's ahead, so as to create the excuse for not going.
Meanwhile when things flow evenly its because one is in a state of inner equilibrium, with full intent on the goal.
There is that story in the bible, about Jonah on the ship in the storm.
And the other passengers figured out that the storm was caused by someone in their midst, so they threw dice...
and thus they discovered it came from Jonah's relationship with God (subconscious) and so they made him walk the plank,
to stop the storm.
So to that society the idea of stuff being caused by our own subconscious selves
was something quite normal and natural.

That's interesting, Ulli. It got me to thinking. Last week, really late at night (for me), I had a big Aha moment. I saw connections between things that I never did before. And what came from this moment was seeing my intention, or something I really wanted, become reality, and I got this particular information/thing I wanted. It wasn't a material item, it was something I have wanted to understand for a long time, and something that is attainable through understanding. And several things all clicked together in this one moment, and I saw-for the first time ever, even though I have been watching for a while-that my intentions had an affect on my reality, on the real world I see.
And this weekend's trip showed this, too. I could have stressed and gone into this weekend creating a negative experience. But I set out to change the experience with positivity, projecting what I wanted to happen, thus intended to happen, and it did.
So, I'm looking at this car thing. Earlier in life, I could see this as a sign I needed to slow down. Stop for a moment. But now, I live at a more realistic pace. And in the past few weeks, I have been making huge headway on identifying the source of certain fears and have released many (ye old shadow work, methinks). But...since the problems with these cars were not serious (though so far one problem is going to cost $650), the message might be to stop and double check. Which I will gladly do :) And, if this has been a test of my balance, so far it remains in tact. Only very minor upset, and just for a moment. :)
Aw, geez, Reilly. You're just saying that because we both noticed the weird and impossible family resemblance in person. Bwahahaha. Thanks for saying so, just the same. And dangit, you know darned well I did blush...

(this isn't my friend - just a photo I found. My friend was uniformly metallic, neon, teal-green.)

May be the bee sticked around because it was on a spying mission. Someone needed to know about the palm of your hand abilities lol. Have you thought of it? Come on, we are on a conspiracy forum, it cannot be just a cute little bee. Maybe it was this bee:

Now there were two directions to take this research. They might have explored the possibility of rats having a fom of consciousness closer to our own than previously thought. But no, the conclusion seems to be that we all... die like rats.

That is the origins of scientific principle, when done by the engineering mind. The mind that would be a mid level rubber-stamp paper-pusher cleric, in the middle ages.
Bacon's inductivism, vs Descartes Deductive/rationalism. that the engineering mind works from negative projection of deductive reasoning into rationalism, and forces prediction from what has been written before.
It throws away observation in favor of what it knows.
This is not science, it is pure projected emotion, in the form of filtered and 'blind to it's origins' thought formation.
Descartes was trapped in the box and limited himself to the idea of only creating from what is the box.
Whereas Bacon threw the box away and observed, in full awareness that he, as a observation platform, shaped the view, and attempted to compensate for that.
Descartes failed to recognize the internal shaping aspect as projection into the formation of all that follows - for all the wordiness wasted on trying to cover that up. Negative proofing by forcing nature into expectations and projections, and all that.
Bacon was alchemical and Buddhist-open, in comparison.
Bacon's scientific revolution was an open and expanding universe, whereas Descartes' universe was a closed one forced by human desire.
Descartes' universe is doomed to fail, even though it tries to build ever more complex shapes from it's limited box bits. This is why you never let engineering minds drive mental revolutions, as they fold back on themselves.
But they can't see this, so they force as hard as they can for their box and walls, running roughshod over all the rest.
They make an excellent zipperhead warrior (as praetorian guard) for the academic machine.
Descartes ended up existing in projected dogma, not realizing that he did. Thus the appeal of an apparent openness - to the ultimately 'unaware of itself' closed mind. Very comfortable and easy to adopt.
when science has problems it has to retreat to the parent and ask what is going on. it has to retreat to philosophy, it's origin point. Scientific method and science is a minor subset of philosophy. Nothing more. Like all angry children, it does not want to talk to it's parent, it wants to figure it out on it's own. That's fine.
But it needs to understand it's origins.
The more difficult a problem to solve, the more basic, the more fundamental the mistake.
First... to realize the problem exists. Science fights to deal with the understanding that a fundamental problem exists.
And when it does, it must ask it's parent.... philosophy, 'Who am I?'
"Some of the most important debates in the history of scientific method center on: rationalism, especially as advocated by René Descartes; inductivism, which rose to particular prominence with Isaac Newton and his followers; and hypothetico-deductivism, which came to the fore in the early 19th century. In the late 19th and early 20th centuries, a debate over realism vs. antirealism was central to discussions of scientific method as powerful scientific theories extended beyond the realm of the observable, while in the mid-20th century some prominent philosophers argued against any universal rules of science at all." (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_scientific_method)
If you create a rule, you've got rolling and expanding dogma as an ever increasing intrusion, and, over time...you are back to square one with written and inescapable religion.

I agree with you, Carmody. . I took a class in philosophy in college and Descarte was my first introduction to the world of philosophy. I could not agree with his conclusions. Although his teachings did lead out of the mire of over a hundred years of philosophical backwoods. And the dadaists that preceded him and Sarte that followed were like a breath of fresh air to the intellectuals of the day. Finally someone made the big leap, tying the promise of science and the industrial revolution to a philosophy that elevated them both to the heights of authority. Existentialism opened the door to a mind set allowing for the complete over-turning of previously held beliefs from centuries past. These guys killed God and then replaced him with the modern ego as the sole arbitor of reality! A neat trick, really.
After that course I began my own hunt for meaning, since philosophy seemed to have gone down the wrong road. After having spent many years developing my own philosophy, I did an extensive, albiet somewhat cursory, research into all philosophers down through the ages. Although some philosophers were close to my theories, only Kant remained standing at the end of my study. I had rediscovered many of Kant's interpretations by my own methods.
All of that lead me to understand that truth is not the domain of the well educated and the intellectual but is there to be tapped by any who wish it and put in the honest work. We do not need authority figures telling us what is what. What we do need is gate keepers and way showers to ensure we have access to all pertinent information to draw our own conclusions as best suits us individually.
In most cases truth is personal, not interpersonal until you get to the higher level truths.

Doctor ordered to demolish 'mountain' built atop penthouse apartment in Beijing
By Le Li, Producer, NBC News
BEIJING – A doctor who spent six years and $130,000 transforming his penthouse apartment into a mountain retreat has been told to tear it down by officials who said the work was done without permission.
Zhang Biqing, who founded a chain of Chinese medicine clinics, bought the 26th-floor dwelling and then moved rocks, wooden panels and shrubbery to the roof using a service elevator.
The bizarre residence sits atop one of several high-rises in a very affluent corner of the city’s Haidian district.

Study shows language can cause the invisible to be seen
[quote]Abstract
Linguistic labels (e.g., "chair") seem to activate visual properties of the objects to which they refer. Here we investigated whether language-based activation of visual representations can affect the ability to simply detect the presence of an object. We used continuous flash suppression to suppress visual awareness of familiar objects while they were continuously presented to one eye. Participants made simple detection decisions, indicating whether they saw any image. Hearing a verbal label before the simple detection task changed performance relative to an uninformative cue baseline. Valid labels improved performance relative to no-label baseline trials. Invalid labels decreased performance. Labels affected both sensitivity (d?) and response times. In addition, we found that the effectiveness of labels varied predictably as a function of the match between the shape of the stimulus and the shape denoted by the label. Together, the findings suggest that facilitated detection of invisible objects due to language occurs at a perceptual rather than semantic locus. We hypothesize that when information associated with verbal labels matches stimulus-driven activity, language can provide a boost to perception, propelling an otherwise invisible image into awareness.(/quote]
Actually Carmody I think this is a case of what in French is known as breaking down an open door. The main purpose of language after all is to be the finger pointing to the Moon, warning against hidden dangers. "Propelling the invisible into awareness" is another name for teaching. Language is the map of the territory; it is hardly surprising that we sometimes manage to navigate with its help.
There again, the main purpose of much of the research that gets funding these days seems to be breaking down open doors, in other words propelling the visible into awareness, i.e. stating the obvious.

If those systems work in one way, then they work in others.
We know that they do, as cognitive dissonance, the very point to be addressed, says it does not. Hoisted by it's own petard.
In this case, the research supports that people live in a state of not seeing things for what they are, and a state of cognitive dissonance.
We have science, indirectly telling people, flat out... that their minds and lives, how they live them, how the PTB work in the world of visuals and sound, how that all can -and is- lying to them, in a couched system of interaction.
Again, we know that to be true. But now we are on the verge of proofs in this area (in this particular case), provided by one of the cornerstones of that system. Science.
That language, phrasing and visuals, can provide a block to perception. If it provides the aid, that is a very high chance that it can also provide the block.
If it works in one way, it works in the other. Basic deduction as applied to the data presented.

Study shows language can cause the invisible to be seen
Abstract
Sorry if you found this helpful; I didn't, thass'all.
The magic word here (talking about language no! lol) is dissonance. If you can implant ideas/values/behaviors long enough for them to be tied to beliefs, which are usually not based on true here and now realities, through words, you create the dissonance and the senses, or reception channels, cannot work properly anymore. Beliefs will overtake reality/experience and will be very difficult to modify. You have created dissonance, which in turn, when enough of it is created, lead to a form of schizophrenia.
This is what happens to all fundamentalist beliefs (religious or not), to all national beliefs, personal beliefs network, etc. We become detach from reality.
So words help see the visible and invisible, but also help hide the visible. "There is mass destruction chemical weapons in Irak" syndrome, repeated enough times and tied to nationalistic beliefs.

Carmody: That was really all it took. When the researchers offered valid clues, the volunteers in the experiment began reporting being able to see the image being shown to one eye, despite being flashed in the other. In contrast, when given words that were not related to what was being shown, the volunteers were still not able to see the image right in front of their eye. This, the researchers contend, suggests that the brain does not separate processing of input information by type. Instead, it appears clear that there is some overlap. They suggest that the word cue causes the brain to "get ready" for what is to come next. If what was advertised does show, then the brain is ready to see it, despite the distraction offered to the other eye. If it doesn't, then the distraction overwhelms the senses causing the image to be ignored.
Something seems wrong to me with that study. It is like stating the obvious, of course there is synaptic links in between the senses and their representation, in the brain. This is very well acknowledge for Learning, to use multi-sensory inputs, many entrance doors, they are synergenistic.
Sound like some PhD students needed to have an easy reasearch to be able to complete their doctor degree.
What is tells me though, is that in order to ignore the information given, you have to overwhelm the sensory system with useless noise (just looking at this present forum sometimes makes you understand that it is well understood by the controlling elite). The information then is either rejected or goes straight to the unconscious. Link it with pre-existing beliefs (established prior) and you get unconscious reacting.
Eureka: this is why now that lots of advertising are wordless - new car adverts, shampoos adverts, etc. It makes it go to your unconscious.

My initial attempt at lacto-fermentation appears to be a success. This past sunday I packed the jar with okra, tomato, and basil, with a little onion and garlic, and this morning I opened it up and took a big whiff and it was all I could do not to grab a fork and dig in. It smelled quite delicious, which indicates a successful experiment, as my reading has informed me that if the experiment was a failure, one sniff and I would really, really know it.

There is another side to this dissonance business. The history of music and poetry is the history of ever bolder dissonances, or to put it in a more positive light, expanding the domain of harmony with ever greater complexity. Art is about finding ways not to programme people with dissonances but to increase their sensitivity to complex harmonies. It is one painless way of learning how to deal with paradoxes.
Hence there is a positive side to this as well as the familiar negative one. There has to be, or how are you going to convince anyone that they are an infinite being having a finite experience. You cannot get to that point of understanding on a diet of pure consonance. The problem with cognitive dissonance is not the dissonance: it is the lack of cognitive sophistication to take it on board.

You know the feeling of when you hear your own voice recorded, and played back, it doesn't sound 'right', doesn't reflect how you hear yourself? The same often happens in photographs - people often don't feel like the photo portrays them "accurately" (even if only temporarily accurate.) That's one of the reasons I posted the image of me holding the heads of lettuce - I feel like that image did accurately capture a glimpse of me, at that moment in time. Earth connected. Proactive in changing the food paradigm to a healthful, organic one - starting at home. And, my daughter took the photo, so the vibe passed to her (passing the torch) is one of a love for gardening, success with 100% organic techniques, and maybe a bit of security via self-grown food. Plus, of course, me saying "I love you!" through my eyes to her.
Jake, my daughter made that tie-dye t-shirt for me, so it is extra special.
Flash, you're sweet! Yes, organic gardening will make you glow! :~)
Dennis
p.s. After that photo, those heads and a couple more were washed, torn, tossed with baby kale, spinach, and shredded carrots to form the basis of a huge bowl of salad. Then, we took about 8 smaller bowls, and filled them with other goodies for salads (chopped onions, garbanzos, walnuts, peppers, tomatoes, etc.) and took it all to a neighborhood gathering. One of the neighbors I hardly know said, "Oh, it's you! I heard there was an organic gardener somewhere in our neighborhood." Another said, "Come see my garden." and I got a chance to see her organic garden (no, I'm not really the only one), and she gave me a head of white and purple cauliflower. Several other neighbors asked about organic gardening, and a number of topics from organic gardening to alternative medicine - including a discussion with several people about cannabis oil - cooperative health food purchasing, permaculture landscaping, and even NSA domestic spying came up.
These are ALL new developments, as I have gone to this neighborhood get-together for 11 years. At least, people who may have been afraid to express these ideas are no longer afraid, and are open to learn more. People are awakening, and it is beautiful.

This provides a perspective on the value of humor, metaphor, and various other literary (linguistic) devices which convey meaning more than in just their pedantically literal aspect.
When developing new software concepts in my primary career, I relied heavily on metaphor as a means to hold in the linguistic portion of my mind some intuition that first came to me as an inarticulable awareness. The metaphors would provide a sort of verbal container for a form of these intuitions that I could develop to the point of being able to code and document them, and communicate them to others.
Similarly, comedians such as Bill Hicks and George Carlin provide a larger audience a means to articulate notions that don't fit in the mainstream conversation.

Main stream "experimental" physics is caught in a similar bind. "Experimental" means "we can measure it with our instruments" (which are made of matter, of course.) This puts "off limits" physics of an underlying ether, for only when that ether manifests as particles of mass or as alterations to mass can the instruments of conventional physics detect it.
Imagine studying aerodynamics while admitting of the existence only of birds, butterflies and airplanes ... not of the air itself!
Verbalized awareness is like manifest particles of mass ... the flotsam floating on the surface of a vast ocean for which there are no words.

Thanks Paul, that was a helluva post. it would be very helpful if you could give an example of what you were doing here. Metaphor is a bridging mechanism that takes you instantly from A to B, often a more abstract thing or notion to a more concrete one, so it makes sense that this should be how you went about memorizing(?) software structures.
What I meant by positive/negative dissonance is to do with the nature of the two points connected in this way. Dissonance depends on the distance bridged. A connection will be more or less unlikely. The simple analogy is easier to slide across, while Surrealist-type imagery is a much broader stretch, but possibly more worthwhile when it works. There is every step size in between.
The positive/negative parameter suggests that there are, as ever, two directions to go, say up or down. You can always choose between something uplifting or something downtreading. Hence there is nothing intrinsically nefarious about language: it is another imperfect tool that can be used either way. However it is a skill in its own right, and the great game-changer is that millions of people are today honing that skill on the Internet, the biggest revolution since the printing press provided written material other than the output of the monastic scriptoria. More often than not, this honing will involve discovering that aiming for the uplifting is the more successful strategy.
Concrete analogies of abstract concepts, although imperfect, provide insights and greater understanding. In fact all language does this. We have no non-metaphorical vocabulary for what goes on in our brains and minds. Whether you grasp, or take in, or com-prehend, or under-stand, or intuit (=contemplate), language has no way for us to take something on board other than in originally physical terms. All these expressions, which are only examples, have a metaphorical origin that has become irrelevant because we have moved on from grasping a mammoth.

By the way, it's Mother's Day here in Costa Rica....
so Im wishing everyone who has played the role of mothering people and pets,
men and women alike, a Happy Mother's Day.
I was a single mother for about 6 years (and maybe longer, if you count while I was being daddy for my kids’ mom)…and lemme tell ya, it is soooo much easier being a male single momma…I watch in horror as women are expected to suck it up and do that job with no appreciation, while people bend over backwards to go outa their way to help me out or make sure me and the boys are taken care of.
More often than not, I was treated as some sort of super hero, just for not abandoning my kids. While all too often, I seen so many people look down with scorn (or at least ignored…with the expectations placed on them)…down on the poor moms taking responsibility. Sick double standard.
Love to all the momma’s out there, thanks for what you do!!

Beautiful clear sunny day on the mountain. The cooling trend is over with for now.
My computer is with the computer guy. He's working out a few kinks and putting in a new hard drive. I can't post any pictures. I have my phone.
Just navigated four days with two Cancers (1 of them a triple -moon, sun &ASC), a Scorpio and a Pisces. I'm a Leo....
Feeling water logged. Really not sure what it's about or what inside of me attracted all of the water.:bigfish: we're definitely all on different planes.

My mother-in-law, Lequita, is being sent to an ear/nose/throat doctor, to get an official diagnoses in order to then be sent to an oncologist. Please keep her, and lotusblossom, in your thoughts and prayers.
Thanks.

In the here and now...seems another layer closer..
as of late ive experienced the feelings of briefly seeing/feeling snipets of another time/space...(saying 'time/space' doesn't even relay wht I sense) its a sensation that has no known words tht I am aware of....
however very recently the snipets seem clearer and more tantalizingly tangible...it seems to be pieces of no known timeframe? But glorious indeed--wow so hard to put to words.
Its very disheartening because as I feel/see this very different 'time/space' it is met with despair---I find myself wanting it to be closer--for it not to go, in a sense? I use the words feel/see because it seems to be the closet to these words combined of what I experience...the feeling is unmatched in any known 'feeling' we have-- But this feeling is also combined with seeing visuals Again unmatched in anything we see here. Its quite something...ug

Thanks Paul, that was a helluva post. it would be very helpful if you could give an example of what you were doing here.
You may regret asking that question :).
The last major contribution I made, which required several years to realize, from initial intuitive inkling to widely used, fully developed, supported, documented and evolving code, was cpusets, used in the Linux kernel to manage process placement on CPUs and memory banks:
Linux kernel code for cpusets (http://lxr.free-electrons.com/source/kernel/cpuset.c)
Linux kernel documentation for cpusets (http://lwn.net/Articles/127936/")
User library support for cpusets (ftp://oss.sgi.com/projects/cpusets/download/libcpuset.html)
The key organizing concept, the nesting of increasingly restrictive sets over an underlying domain of elements came to me using Boolean algebras for the metaphor. Cpusets have now been extended to other system resources besides CPU and memory, in a facility called cgroups.
Thanks to spending over a year immersed in Boolean algebras while writing a math thesis on the independence of the Axiom of Choice from the Boolean Prime Ideal Theorem (https://eudml.org/doc/213795), I had an uncommon familiarity with these nesting set structures. To this day, that key concept, that each process belongs to exactly one cpuset or cgroup in any particular nested hierarchy, remains the key, unchallenged and simplifying concept behind cpusets and cgroups, which elevated them above the prior efforts.
At one point, perhaps about 2004, during the key effort to get Linus Torvalds to accept cpusets as the Linux kernel mechanism for managing process placement on multiple CPUs, myself and one other, a Frenchman named Simon Derr, with Bull, were competing against a major IBM project with perhaps 50 or 100 engineers, who were proposing an alternative design and implementation. The two of us won out over that large team, due to the elegance of our design and its minimal impact on the vital areas of kernel process scheduling and memory allocation, which are difficult to keep extremely fast on very large systems with thousands of processors and memory banks being managed by a single kernel.
The metaphor with Boolean algebras (http://mathworld.wolfram.com/BooleanAlgebra.html) (which I knew with a solid, gut level, familiarity) was the the key insight for all that.

This is a wickedly clever, dry, funny clip from some new movie that a friend posted elsewhere - worth sharing with friends ...
V I S I O N E E R S
George goes to the doctor seeking a cure for having dreams.
The Doctor to George: "You seem like someone who follows orders well, you have a desire to please...you're a pleasant affable sort of fellow who doesn't seem to want much, perhaps just to be included. Judging from the somewhat dull look in your eyes, I would rate your intelligence at...average. All of which is good. The problem is your brain scans came back negative and so it's very difficult for me to make a diagnosis because you see, normally, passive men -- like yourself -- are not the sort of men who suffer from....dreams."

I'm with you Flash, but I certainly have no regrets. We now have it from the horse's mouth (wrong animal) that one Avalon mod does the work of, and better than, fifty.
And all this nesting (wrong animal again) suggests to me that the rest of the mod team are birds of the same feather.
But while we knew all that and are eternally grateful for it, Paul does illustrate my point about metaphor bridging one from "solid, gut level familiarity" into unknown territory whether for good (Linux users?) or not so good (NSA).

Mothers Day yesterday meant more face to face conversations with the younger generation.
When they asked what first to study, or how did begin my research,
I suggested to look into Phil Schneider, and take it from there.
Investigate everything about him, before deciding whether he was a liar,
and disinformation agent, or whether he told the truth.
Just such an exercise would already be beneficial to someone waking up,
as their own intuition can then be developed.
And sure enough, synchronicities began to happen...and
just now my intuition directed me to this Avalon page,
which is packed with homework for someone setting out on this journey.
Twenty loaded posts...so now I'm sending this link to my English speaking nephews....

Here's a vid from CurtisW that I would thoroughly recommend
Here's a great clip of Joseph Campbell discussing the importance of metaphor-- and the powerful role that 'myth', as opposed to mere biography, can play in our lives.
Campbell would say the problem is essentially a literary one--a misreading of our mythology as literal truth, thus stripping it of its power to help us transcend the myth itself - for the ultimate purpose of touching the sublime power behind it.

Wow, I'd love to say North Korea has better viewing of the stars, and are more in-tune with the land... but while those may be correct, this shows a nation held in check by (US and US-influenced) sanctions, and heavy-handed ruling, away from technology.
