Too Broke to Vote
Everybody I know say they too broke to vote
With all that heavy slave mentally we could've broke the boat
Nobody cares about me
Nobody cares about my family
Nobody cares about my folks
So Nobody gets my vote
Nobody for President
That's my campaign slogan
We got money for wars but can't feed our homeless
The government is hopeless
It's like a reality show
The Real lives of the house liars
Starring Anglo Saxon Christians
Change the channel sound like a bunch of arguing bitches
Switch up,
the game-show
AMERICAS Next top corrupt judicial system
For instance, I'm saying look at my options
Voting for office is like picking out which Gun you wanna get shot wit.
These politicians think they battle rappers
And they swear they spitting that hot
****!
Gun control, abortion
Civil liberties, extortion
energy, the economy
Immigration and global warming
But I ain't feeling the burn
And hell naw I'll never get trumped
The Clintons had they chance with me, they reason my cuzn still locked up
Mass incarceration it's still ****ed up
3 strikes, 25 to life, nigga good luck
**** yo Future
**** yo daddy
**** yo rights
**** yo mentality
In Actuality, the constitution said I was just 3 5ths of a man
What's stopping them from saying that again?
The top 3 percent
Over the 13th amendment
Minus the 40 acres plus the rest of my reparations
Yeah They doing that new
Government math
Water gate to White water
Call that a government bath
the law was we couldn't even use the same bathroom
Back then where was your government at?
Behind our backs, ingesting crack in it up
Yup, the government laugh
But in our face they wanna cry and sob
And wonder why we shoot and Rob
But guess what? nothing stops a bullet, like a job
And we Can't elect without no college
And don't even get me started about the electoral college
Let's be honest!
Thats how they really choose the president and that's facts!
They got y'all confused with these views from republicans and democrats
Liberal or conservative, Man I ain't none of that.
I'm hungry,
Nigga, where the money at?
Cuz I'm too broke to vote
I'm too broke to cope
I ain't trying to check no ballots
I'm trying to check this balance on these checking accounts
Y'all being careful
Double checking it counts
But Just like Florida it's gonna be another miscount
And once they get to this amount they gonna try to dismount.
Flip sides back and forth it's
Political gymnastics
Like Olympic acrobats
Go for the Gold cuz that's who makes the rules
And all this pageantry is just designed for fools
They gonna give you the one they choose
To Big to fail
To Rich to lose
And I'm still to broke to vote
So how do we fix this **** then.
Give her away
In the End
Is where it begins.
So I vote we Return the country back to its original owners THE Native Americans!

Crashed into my glass door earlier tonight.
What a blow to my face.
It felt as if I had broken my nose.
Was rushing with last minute preparations as guests were on their way to visit us.
Didn't see that the door to the kitchen from the outside terrace was shut.
Duh!!
Husband still with a patient at his office.
Managed to make it to the freezer and get an ice pack, then to the nearest mirror, saw that I had blood all over my face, then felt sorry for myself and wondered why people go into sports like wrestling of boxing.
Now guests and husband talking amongst themselves, me with plaster on my nose, and two black eyes, needing to call the Villagers for support.

Thank you all for your kindness. Feeling much better, although a bit sore.
And a bit grumpy, and annoyed at myself.
Just a few hours before that I had thought about being finally in the clear, with that yearlong Uranus square finally fading, and also last week's Mars square Saturn behind me. Too soon.
I was reminded of an image from the IChing, about a fox crossing an iced-up lake and listening to the cracking sound, and just as he gets to the shore he relaxes too soon, breaks through the ice, and so he gets his tail wet.
Making a fresh resolve to remain more mindful and alert.

Oh Ulli, you made me think of a story from my childhood. (I was probably 5 or 6 years old.)
There was a brand name of "sneakers"/tennis shoes called "PF Flyers" that were the rage. The television advertising was effective on me, and the superhero-like tag line, "P F Flyers awayyyyyyy!" was part of my vocabulary. Well, the gods smiled on me, and I got a pair! I laced them up and immediately ran through the house. When I got to a glass door I must have thought was open, I shouted, "P F Flyers awayyyyyyy!" and ran right through the glass door.
Not a scratch.
So, the lesson is not to let the glass stop you. hehehhee
p.s. Sorry this happened to you, Ulli, and I'm glad you weren't badly injured.

It’s official. I’m an owner an old lady car. (sorry for the politically incorrect language) It’s one of those car that’s in pristine condition aside from the bird seed bag that busted open this past winter. It’s her birthday this month. She turned 13.
Today, I circled the driveway so I could watch the odometer go to 70,000. I expected that it’d slowly roll but it flipped like a digital clock. Anti-climatic.
25% of those miles were add awhile I was still part of the tick-tock-world. There was a time when I’d rack up 70,000 miles in 1 1/2 - 2 years. My job was only 30 miles round trip. So much running away. Back then I labeled those miles self-improvement or mental health or training or certification this, certification that. Now most of it I no longer use or relate to. Guess it was needed to get to this place on the journey.

In The Inner Planets, Howard Sasportas tells a delightful story of a Mercury seminar, during which he gave an exercise to the audience, after first dividing them into groups according to their Mercury sign.[4] Predictably, the Mercury in Aries group finished first, while the Taurus group needed more time. The Geminis came up with four times the information of any group. After completing the exercise, the Cancer group gave each other massages. There was just one Mercury in Leo, who joined the Aquarius group, and not surprisingly, given the opposing signs, there was some tension. An argument broke out in the Mercury in Virgo group; one woman was brought to tears when the others criticized her views. The Mercury in Libras debated cordially and completed their list with beautiful penmanship. Sasportas claims he can't remember what the Scorpios did, perhaps repressing it. The Sagittarius Mercuries sped through the exercise, then got sidetracked into a philosophical discussion. The Capricorn Mercuries frequently called Sasportas over to make sure they were doing things correctly, while the Pisces group had difficulty crystallizing the attributes of their sign.

Indeed.
When I was around 8 or 9 I got it in my head that I was gonna do a back flip. Was very spontaneous....I have no idea where the thought came from.
Anyway, I was terrified and therefore not fully committed. I landed very awkwardly on my neck. I heard a terrible crunch when it happened. I laid there for several mins in terror, afraid to move. But lo n behold, I walked off, no worse for wear really. A miracle in my book. 1 inch one way or the other and i'd have likely been crippled for life....all because of a silly compulsion.

Scorpio provides psychic flash shortcuts which means mental reasoning is often neglected.
So Mercury acts more like an antenna, instead of a processor of logical thought.
Then it becomes a question of where they have that antenna tuned to...angels or demons.
Usually a bit of both, alternating, with very little room for the grey areas.
Their life task is to find their own true selves, develop discernment, anchor their loyalties wisely,
and shine like bright stars, from their own innermost core.
My guess is that Sierra is well on her way.

What are the best books to study the planets and their attributes?
While we hear from the resident expert(s)...
Here’s a freebie from Linda Goodman that covers Sun signs patterns, mutual aspects and compatibility. Linda Goodman: “New Approach to Human Heart: Linda Goodman’s Love Signs (http://www.my-ab.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/Linda-Goodman-Love-Signs.pdf)”.
To give you a feel for the authors' material, here's a snippet from: Derek Parker & Julia Parker. “Parkers’ Encyclopedia of Astrology.”
Mars
Mars is the fourth planet from the Sun and the nearest SUPERIOR PLANET to the Earth, orbiting the Sun every 687 days. No doubt originally because of its striking reddish colour in the night sky it has always in astrology been associated to some extent with violence and warfare. It RULES Aries and is in DETRIMENT in Libra; it is EXALTED in Capricorn and in FALL in Cancer. In modern astrology it represents human energy and the way it is used, including the sex drive. It has an influence on the red blood corpuscles and the adrenal glands, represents the masculine element in the personality of both sexes, and is related to aggression and heat – the heat of sudden anger as well as physical heat. In the right relationship to other elements of the HOROSCOPE it can represent assertive leadership and a pioneering spirit. Mars can fall in any of the twelve signs of the horoscope, irrespective of Sun-sign.
Mars and the Zodiac Signs:
Mars in LIBRA
The mind will be willing but the flesh may be somewhat weak: Mars is in a languid mood in Libra, and procrastination may well hinder achievement. Once motivated and encouraged by the appreciation of others, however, much can be achieved, probably helped by energy from the placing of the Sun, Moon or rising-sign. The appreciation and encouragement of friends and colleagues is important to those with Mars in Libra, and the desire to please and impress will be a strong motivation – not, however, in a self-aggrandizing way. The aggression of Mars will be toned down in Libra, though there will be a perverse tendency to provoke a quarrel simply because of the enjoyment of a good row. A positive element of this placing is the need for a happy permanent relationship, spiced by a naturally healthy and enthusiastic enjoyment of sex – though once again, however willing the mind, the desire just to lie back and enjoy the moment may mean that the partner has to work rather too hard.
Uranus
The first of three ‘modern’ planets, and the seventh major planet of the solar system, Uranus rules Aquarius (traditionally ruled by Saturn). Uranus was discovered in 1781 by William Herschel, whose name it briefly bore. It orbits the Sun every 84 years, taking approximately 7 years to pass through each zodiac sign, during which it exerts the same influence in the HOROSCOPES of everyone born during that period. Unless the sign in which it is placed is also occupied by the Sun or Moon, or is the ASCENDANT, it will tend merely to colour the other characteristics revealed in the horoscope. For instance, if ambition is heavily emphasized due to the influence of other planets, “Uranus will show the degree of that influence, or to some extent how it emerges in the character of the subject. The planet may also provoke changes in life, but on the whole it has a GENERATION INFLUENCE rather than specially affecting an individual.
One individual effect, however, manifests when Uranus makes specific angles to the position it occupied at the moment of birth. Perhaps its most important influence occurs when it has travelled half-way round the zodiac, and is exactly 180° from its natal position. This happens when the individual concerned is about 40 years old, and Uranus occupies its POLAR SIGN. The Uranus half-return can be used to help activate new interest, to change and sharpen one’s image; it sometimes signals what could be called a new lease of life – perhaps the mid-life crisis. The full return, when one is 84, can be equally interesting; individuals at this age have been observed to perform exceptional feats such as parachute drops and deep-sea dives.
Uranus in SAGITTARIUS
If the individual is intellectually sharp, the planet will add fire and enthusiasm to their need for challenge, and will add the ability to evolve new concepts. The humanitarian aspects of the Uranus influence will certainly manifest, as will increased originality of expression – especially if Sagittarius is a dominating sign. The planet will also help Ariens and Leos in this way; everyone with Uranus in Sagittarius will be able to make use of its capacity to strengthen enthusiasm and forward planning.

I did the graveyard shift for three months my senior year of high school before I switches to second shift. It’d be years later that I realized I was too tired to know how hard that chunk of time was. Whenever there was a rough patch, I’d reflect back for a second wind.
Since, I’ve collected a lot of milestones. Glad I didn’t know how to remote view. I’d not have the wherewithal beyond one foot in front of the other. That’s a helpful reminder for me for those that still sleep through their alarm clocks.
Hear, hear to those gutsy, quirky, innovative, determined, strong, crazy like a fox, and/or creative system busters that’ve lived multiple reincarnations in this lifetime.

Same kudos from me here. Filling in for friends, just last week did a 14 hour shift one day from early a.m. to mid afternoon with no discernible breaks, a 12 hour straight thru and then somehow, the first time ever, had my alarm give me an extra hour, to be late for a straight 9 hour work day. Luckily one of my friends, 9 years on the same job, had a very late day a week earlier, thus laying no guilt on me, and knowing how diligent I am at even new tasks.
It is understandable of how off bodily systems can be when asked to work such hours. The only redeeming grace that makes such tiring work possible is camaraderie, where snappy, insulting, and impossibly demanding higher ups make even short work periods not worth the effort, certainly not the wage. Much can be accomplished in tough conditions when we lift each other up and keep our spirits light. Even that too can be difficult when we don't get our days with the rhythms of the sun. Kudos Maximus my friends !!!!!

Musings:
When I read of these folks leaving, I surprise myself with a blend of ‘a little too happy’ for them and a wish I could trade places. Then I clear it up for myself with it’s more out of curiosity than completion of a life-list.
But then that opens the door to old tapes of work ethic you 'should' keep on keeping and religious guilt of others suffer while I sit…
Then the other echoes of:
Life’s a rigged game.
Life isn’t meant to figure out.
I’m the map maker in my little world.
My little world is plenty big and relatively warm.
Live. Forgive. Love.
Most of what I tell myself I don't believe. Maybe that's why I'm still here. I gots more to do or more to lighten up about.
PS I layed down for a twenty minute nap and woke up three hours later. My mind and body are tired....

As for the projected sh!tstorm headed this way:
I look at it this way, yesterday, there was an acre of land to grow food. The day after a gigantic economic crash there will still be an acre of land to grow food. I think the "nearly wealthy" people will be hit the hardest because they are so enmeshed with money and so close to grabbing the 'brass ring' that only they could see. Those that don't have all that much material wealth don't have that much (of artificial value) to lose. We (the vast majority of "we") don't have material wealth, but - because we have functioning compassion, empathy, and love, because we have our soul-to-soul connections with our family members and friends - we truly have that deeper and much more real wealth. We will still have that wealth the day after a gigantic economic crash. And the acre of land... and some seeds. We're gonna be OK.

It makes me think the next couple years will be cake... is this because of the preperation that was made cause of the warnings from the past...or is it from the lack of the fruit from such warnings...i dont' know.... It is certainly not easy to pull the mind out of future worries or past regrets; but setting those things down and enjoying the now is not only more productive and grounding; but really the only thing you CAN do.

Oh, dear, I missed the second part (Strange Fruit) which is apparently illustrated by heavy graphics, so I came back to add a warning for those visuals.
I was reminded of Nina again following an article I chanced upon about a new biographical movie. I personally don't think Nina would have agreed on being represented by a white actress, not that this is offensive in se but it's inappropriate in the light of the fundamentals of what she was fighting for.
Why not Whoopi Goldberg, I wonder, she has the facial contours and the right vocal timbre, she's black and she sure can act.

I look out across the skies to our lake district, and across the Solway Firth, and for the last year, it is totally rare to see a 'normal' cloud formation. Now mostly overcast, weird layers, and some 'vibrating'. Some clouds look like flattened 'meringues', no randomness/fluffiness any more. It's all so vile and criminal, I worry for the younger generations who are being deliberately poisoned and mind-warped. 😢

I got a walk in just in time... When I arrived home, I quickly gathered up the groceries and ran up the stairs in a blast of wind, rain, snow, and sleet pelites, while some parts of the sky were colored in sun rays. I instinctually laughed, either because it struck me funny or I got a jolt of the electric feel in the air.

Today I watched again a childhood movie I grew with.
The 12 chairs from Mel Brooks (watch online here (http://putlocker.is/watch-the-twelve-chairs-online-free-putlocker.html)).
It was not as funny as I remembered it. Yet I enjoyed the music much better as I understand it now.
The theme is very zeitgeist: Hope for the best, expect the worst.

No way of knowing

Hope for the best, expect the worst!

Some reach the top, friends, while others drop, friends
Hope for the best, expect the worst!
I knew a man who saved a fortune that was splendid
Then he died the day he'd planned to go and spend it
Shouting "Live while you're alive! No one will survive!"
Life is sorrow—here today and gone tomorrow
Live while you're alive, no one will survive—there's no guarantee
Hope for the best; expect the worst

"And now regarding thy question, “How is it that no records are to be found concerning the Prophets that have preceded Adam, the Father of Mankind, or of the kings that lived in the days of those Prophets?”
Know thou that the absence of any reference to them is no proof that they did not actually exist. That no records concerning them are now available, should be attributed to their extreme remoteness, as well as to the vast changes which the earth hath undergone since their time.
Moreover such forms and modes of writing as are now current amongst men were unknown to the generations that were before Adam.
There was even a time when men were wholly ignorant of the art of writing, and had adopted a system entirely different from the one which they now use. For a proper exposition of this an elaborate explanation would be required.
Consider the differences that have arisen since the days of Adam. The divers and widely-known languages now spoken by the peoples of the earth were originally unknown, as were the varied rules and customs now prevailing amongst them. The people of those times spoke a language different from those now known. Diversities of language arose in a later age, in a land known as Babel. It was given the name Babel, because the term signifieth “the place where the confusion of tongues arose.”
Subsequently Syriac became prominent among the existing languages. The Sacred Scriptures of former times were revealed in that tongue.
Later, Abraham, the Friend of God, appeared and shed upon the world the light of Divine Revelation. The language He spoke while He crossed the Jordan became known as Hebrew (Ibrání), which meaneth “the language of the crossing.”
The Books of God and the Sacred Scriptures were then revealed in that tongue, and not until after a considerable lapse of time did Arabic become the language of Revelation….
Witness, therefore, how numerous and far-reaching have been the changes in language, speech, and writing since the days of Adam. How much greater must have been the changes before Him!
Our purpose in revealing these words is to show that the one true God hath, in His all-highest and transcendent station, ever been, and will everlastingly continue to be, exalted above the praise and conception of all else but Him. His creation hath ever existed, and the Manifestations of His Divine glory and the Day Springs of eternal holiness have been sent down from time immemorial, and been commissioned to summon mankind to the one true God.
That the names of some of them are forgotten and the records of their lives lost is to be attributed to the disturbances and changes that have overtaken the world.
Mention hath been made in certain books of a deluge which caused all that existed on earth, historical records as well as other things, to be destroyed. Moreover, many cataclysms have occurred which have effaced the traces of many events.
Furthermore, among existing historical records differences are to be found, and each of the various peoples of the world hath its own account of the age of the earth and of its history.
Some trace their history as far back as eight thousand years, others as far as twelve thousand years.
To any one that hath read the book of Jük it is clear and evident how much the accounts given by the various books have differed.
Please God thou wilt turn thine eyes towards the Most Great Revelation, and entirely disregard these conflicting tales and traditions."~ Baha'u'llah
I've been telepathically or spiritually prompted to share this passage by Baha'u'llah for some time now.
So here it is, for everyone's perusal.

Normally I start going cross-eyed with hows and thous and prophecy.
... but I have come to respect you so I will consider.
One has to see this in a historical context.
The messages Baha'u'llah wrote were written during the nineteenth century- feathers dipped in a bowl of ink, and in Farsi, the language of Persia, and some in Arabic, a language he was never taught.
The speed of writing was such that the ink on the top of the page was still wet when he reached the bottom of the page.
When he was inspired to write people left the room as they could not stand the energy, or they passed out, unconscious.
To me this all sounds like the message was channeled. Automatic writing.
Several decades after his death in 1892 his greatgrandson Shoghi Effendi, who had studied at Oxford, translatied the writings into English and it was he who wanted it to be in that poetic old style that we now have.
The world was then still more religious than spiritual, and I guess he thought that Shakespearian language would give it the weight and dignity he thought it deserved.
I have read the same text in German where it flows more modern and readable, although after more than forty years away from German I'm beginning to find all German to be a bit unreadable.
It was the Gurdjieff teachings that had prepared me to understand that if reading requires effort on the reader's part the message has more impact, once that willingness to engage was activated.
I guess I could also have just replied to your post, Calzie, with a simple "I know what you mean",
and that would have been just as sincere a reply, but wouldn't have taken you to the mysterious origins of Baha'ullah's message.

Wow. I never got that from Gurdjieff, but then, there are few of the enlightened whose words I've perused to the depth required to truly internalize their methods and their messages. With that said, I have to agree with this statement with all that I have. I have found this to be so. It is as if there is an energetic emanation from the words themselves, as symbols of origin. I'm reminded of the movies where they show words on a page, being read by a witch or sorcerer begin glowing and shifting on the pages.
This is a different energy than that exuded by words of a lower vibratory nature that are similarly unreadable upon first consideration.

We read in our head, with our own voice. It's an auto-hypnotic, like half of a feedback system standing in place for the whole.
Symbols double up the effect for a more visceral subliminal delivery. The why of motion picture films.
The take-away, is that no matter the opinion of the idea of corruption in film, or whatnot, visual media with sound, and the same with the written word, both have advanced humanity, wholesale.
This is indisputable.
In that form of domino logic, VR will be more of the same. The corruption will be in evidence, as will the benefit.

This is in line with contemporary theory of reading and writing being parts of one and the same process. See here (http://projectavalon.net/forum4/showthread.php?89292-Robert-Graves-and-Archaeolmythology&p=1052553&viewfull=1#post1052553). If any of my posts are of any value, it is because I am fairly practised in this dialectic whereby the two feed off each other. You don’t need to have had paranormal experiences in the outside world: writing/reading in itself is one such experience, but it is not some kind of instant revelation, rather an ongoing process of discovery. So if the Internet has taught us to write (expressing ourselves to the collective)
then smartphones have taught us to "text" (expressing ourselves in a more private one-on-one setting, without the body language).
So which of the two will lead the way for us to become truly social?

Thank you Village!
I love to heal myself. Love my supplements and have been trying to heal the arthritis in my left foot. I had been trying borax which removed the arthritis from my knees and the right foot. But the left foot was stubborn. I had tried ACV for a couple of weeks and it was not improving, so I decided to try Tumeric. I went to whole foods and chose a 500mg supplement. I took the first one on Tuesday. Wednesday I woke with what I thought was flu symptoms. I felt terrible all day long, so instead of taking all my supplements I dosed myself with 5000 mg of Vitamin C staggered throughout the day and I also took Oil of Oregano. I felt a little better on Thursday and by Friday I felt fine, so on Friday I went back to taking the supplements plus the Turmeric.
Saturday around 3 am I woke up the the most horrific pain under the right side of my rib cage. No matter how i positioned myself I could not get rid of the pain. By 7am I gave up trying to sleep. Pain was shooting across my back and up my right shoulder. I got up and googled turmeric and gallbladder and found on Livestrong.com "Do not take turmeric if you have gallstones".
I am so thankful to Ulli who was up and online! She was an angel to be up so early and so willing to help another person in need. :heart: :hug:
Apple Cider Vinegar in water and Milk Thistle drops in water helped with the pain on Saturday. Saturday night was horrible. I kept waking up in intense pain and on when I gave up on trying to sleep Ulli was again online and available. :hug: About 20 minutes after she posted here on the Village. The pain started subsiding. I would gladly send you some of our excess sunshine.
It's overflowing here.
My garden is so dry, despite hours of hosing every day.
The day they stole that hose which was going to bring river water to the property changed everything.
We were going to install an irrigation system to see us through the dry season, and instead we got two dogs to secure the property.
Security comes first, I know, but I feel sorry for my plants, (as well as all dry plants all over Costa Rica) and also myself, for all the labour we put into this during the last 8 months.
Normally we have rains here by early April but there is a delay this year.
And then there'll be another new development...muddy paw prints all over, once the rains begin in earnest.
The cats have left mud prints as well, but those I consider decoration.

I just had to buy a truck load of water, I feel your "a touch to much sunshine" woes... My plan is a well to fix the "dry season" issues.
My dogs get locked inside or outside until they & the ground dries...
of course, some smart person tiled my entire house in white ceramic tiles, so that makes any prints a bit less aesthetically tolerable.
Maybe your irrigation efforts could benefit from a few smaller "water ram" set ups.
They will look far less tempting to steal and work great (assuming you aren't too far above the river in elevation). plus they are mechanical & require no power.

Very interesting, Target. Unfortunately our river is quite a bit lower than any part of our property.
This would work up the mountain, where a lot of my friends who have farms up there get their water from springs, and might wish to increase the water pressure.

What do they say about too much of a good thing? I know some people around here have turned part of their yards into rock gardens for conservation of water when we actually have summer, it gets very humid or so I thought, until I visited Dominion Republic, now that is some oppressive humidity.
I can understand security coming first, hope those pups are up to the challenge.

15 min a day, lift heavy things with INTENSITY; every day objects are fine.. make sure you feel strain in your muscles.
This will do multiple things, most most importantly is it strengthens connective tissue and adds bone density (saving you from injury).. Lifting weights is probably the most important & fastest/easiest exercise possible; you can completely ignore cardio if you push really hard in those 15 min bursts.
You'll notice benefits in just a few weeks; I highly recommend it ;)

Hello to All. http://avalonlibrary.net/paula/Recovered/wind14_zpsdciucqpc.GIF
Today, I was invited to my sister’s daughter-in-law baby shower. Included were the moms’ kids, and lot and lots of babies. It was held in a hotel with full breakfast and dinner buffet and drinks of all kinds. (One of the financial benefits from mother, mother-in-law, step-mothers itching to welcome in their first grand child.)
This was new and a great idea. We were instructed to not wrap the gifts. They were put on display. I surmised that guests used the time to eat and greet at our assigned seating. And, it saves trees, the dumps and dollars.
A niece shared that her five year old daughter, who’s in kindergarten, was one of four girls in a classroom of fourteen. I inquired on how many other kindergartens in the system. One other and the ratio was about the same. If this is accurate, it’s very telling.
My niece also shared that her daughter got a second notice sent home because she didn’t do her homework. When the niece asked her daughter why, she replied, “I didn’t want to.”
My heart aches for these poor little ones. Common core = frustrate these light sparks and dumb them down.
All in all it was a fun time. Then my unpredictable “time to leave in ninja-invisibility-style” gene switched on. I altered my frequency and walked out without notice. Back to my no-clock-time cave. It gets cozier and cozier as the years roll along.
Continuing hermit-mode.
Came naturally.
Dunno how long it will take.

Me too! i prefer an 'annoying' ticking clock to any other noise. I can turn on media. Perhaps I am hiding from my former life, easy to close doors, responsibilities gone (parents, pets, partner, son), just don't want to progress and that is bad. Learning online is great, and gardening. Wade has helped - so much to read, and so exciting!

Every once in a while I ask if I've checked out, i.e. hiding, not progressing? The answer comes up the same: I'm In-Joying and learning.
I love not being tethered to a clock or rules of when to eat, sleep, do laundry, grocery shop, etc.
I created this life and am just as grateful today, as the day I walked away from the no-clock-world in 2004.

Oh man, Paula, i'll bet your ninja invisibility is downright impeccable in those instances...had me laughing!
But i'll bet my technique even rivals yours.;)....ive become so proficient at escaping awkward social situations without detection that my friends used to call me "Houdini".
My escapes were so notorious that, if I was with a group of say 3 or more people, theyd all paper-scissors-rock to see who was going to take on the responsibility of shadowing me...especially if I was driving.(note: I hated driving people to social functions, downtown, bars so forth...But since I always insist on driving myself(simply to control my own fate) people just assume they can tag along. And i'd let them..as long as they understood that I might wanna come home in 20 mins, 40 mins, I never knew. I might wanna stay all night, who knows? I'm very unpredictable that way...even I don't know what i'm gonna do. Furthermore, i'd tell them that I wasnt going to waste 20 seconds looking around for them in crowded bars when I was ready to go...better keep an eye on me. Because when i'm ready to go, i'm ready to go. I'd make sure everyone was very clear on this... and theyd swear up n down they were...but every f#cking time there'd be some winer complaining about this n that, nevermind that I was driving them around on my dime, my time...AND I was taking all the risk by driving after drinking. But someone always had a complaint...unreal...)
So anyway...thats how "Houdini" was born. And he still lives on today. The skill has gotten me out of many a social situation. And youre right, theres nothing quite like getting home after you know youre scott free..nothing like turning off the phone and embracing the solitude..

Mike, I soooo relate to your post. Fortunately, I live in a different state than three of my siblings. Which is the perfect, built-in excuse to go solo and noncommittal. Though, I admit on the noncommittal part, I may be in need of an intervention.

Ha, the child within. You made me smile. My mother is very hectic in the kitchen and whenever she organises something she makes sure to have a large helping crew of sisters-in-law (totally mismatched with what the kitchen can actually carry). Usually they are ready long before the guests arrive. For some inexplicable reason she likes to have me hanging there in the kitchen as well...for wallpaper, I think. I get no tasks because she's worried I'll mess up and embarrass her in front of the guests. Sometimes I get onions to peel, but that's if I'm lucky. Usually I just have to be there, stationed...just in case. So, diners like that, if required, I'm present, greet the guests, small-talk, but soon enough, :Music: I is gone. Come home and then I call my mother. She'll ask: Where are you??
And I'll say: Oh, I'm at home.

First time in ages that I didn't find out right away by being on my computer,

Firstly, such a device is constructed of quartz crystal, due to it's transmission of a wide variety of wavelengths.
Secondly, it is constructed with a purified nano/atomic dispersed dopant. (gold, whatever is chosen)
Thirdly, it is constructed where the solidus state for the dopant and the quartz glass are different. (which is the norm, most dopants have a lower melt point than quartz crystal).
Fourthly, the crystal is slowly cooled under controlled conditions to get the dopant and quartz to go into a solidus condition in a very controlled way/manner. Depends on the end point desired and what can be done.
Fifthly, most importantly, the key point, is that it is brought from the liquid form into the solidus form, under electrical loading, and also, possibly, magnetic loading, and possibly under pressure loading, or physical excitation, or all at the same time.
This creates a hyper-dimensional resonant electret/crystal.
Here is the genesis of such in modern physics. What you are looking at, is the reverse aspect of making the crystal, spoken of in the idea of melting the glass, and making nanostructures:
Forming glass shapes: Lowering the 'softening temperature' via electric field (http://phys.org/news/2015-11-glass-lowering-softening-temperature-electric.html)
http://cdn.phys.org/newman/gfx/news/2015/formingglass.jpg
On a serendipitous occasion, while attending a conference and listening to Rishi Raj, a professor of mechanical engineering at the University of Colorado Boulder, speak about the remarkable effect of moderate electrical fields on lowering the sintering temperature of certain ceramic powders, Himanshu Jain, a professor of materials science and engineering at Lehigh University, began to wonder if a similar phenomenon was possible in a glass—because he knew that the implications could be huge for glass technology.
The two professors chatted briefly during a coffee break and a spontaneous collaboration to explore the possibility began.
As the team of researchers at Lehigh University and the University of Colorado Boulder discovered and describe in Applied Physics Letters, from AIP Publishing, a similar, albeit slightly different, phenomenon is indeed possible in a glass.
The basis of the team's work and experiments is fairly straightforward: glass softens upon heating in a furnace, so it can be readily observed as the onset of rapid deformation under the application of a compressive load. "We wanted to discover whether or not 'softening behavior' could be significantly enhanced by the additional application of an electric field," said Jain.
So they ran a series of experiments centering on comparing softening temperatures while a rectangular piece of glass was heated at a constant rate under the simultaneous application of mechanical load, as well as with an electric field. Then, to "establish the generality of phenomenon and to develop an understanding of underlying mechanisms, we performed experiments on a few different glass compositions of varying properties," he noted.
Forming glass products into specific shapes requires high temperatures, which translates to consuming a considerable amount of energy. "Electrical heating is widely used in the initial melting process, but not for 'forming operations,' which require glass to be soft and easily deformable, while also keeping the desired shape," explained Jain.
The team's approach, which "lowers the softening temperature by electric field, offers the potential to save significant amounts of energy, but may also end up leading to innovative methods of 'micro-forming' because electric fields can be manipulated much more precisely and selectively than plain old heating," he added.
For the team, actually observing the softening of glass at a significantly lower furnace temperature was the most exciting part of their experiments. There were, however, some surprises along the way. "One of these 'unexpected results' was that soon after the softening of glass, we observed a strong glow coming from the anode region," Jain revealed. "Upon continued application of electrical field, we observed smoke and substantial destruction of the sample."
In terms of applications for the team's work, the results of their study will prove extremely useful for micro- and nano-forming operations in which micro- and nano-scale glass shaping is desirable, as well as for high-precision nanostamping. The same applies for modifying physical properties near electrodes.
"Gaining a better understanding of the underlying phenomenon will help us learn the limitations of glass as an electrical insulator," noted Jain. "There's tremendous interest in using glass as a supercapacitor for energy storage, for example. But it's critical not to use glass that deforms easily in such applications, so it would be helpful to know in advance how the glass will behave."
Now that the team has discovered this phenomenon of electric field-induced softening of glass, since they're a group of materials scientists, they've moved on to exploring its mechanisms and behavior during various stages.
One way to do this is to perform experiments on a broader variety of glasses with specific characteristics. "This will help us to identify glass compositions for specific applications that exploit electric-field-induced softening," Jain said.
Their goal now is to further develop electric-field-induced softening for practical applications with an industry partner.

Atoms placed precisely in silicon can act as quantum simulator (http://phys.org/news/2016-04-atoms-precisely-silicon-quantum-simulator.html)
In a proof-of-principle experiment, researchers at UNSW Australia have demonstrated that a small group of individual atoms placed very precisely in silicon can act as a quantum simulator, mimicking nature - in this case, the weird quantum interactions of electrons in materials.
The publication of this latest advance towards the development of a silicon-based quantum computer at UNSW coincided with the opening of the university's new quantum computing laboratories by Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull.
"Previously this kind of exact quantum simulation could not be performed without interference from the environment, which typically destroys the quantum state," says senior author Professor Sven Rogge, Head of the UNSW School of Physics and program manager with the ARC Centre of Excellence for Quantum Computation and Communication Technology (CQC2T).
"Our success provides a route to developing new ways to test fundamental aspects of quantum physics and to design new, exotic materials - problems that would be impossible to solve even using today's fastest supercomputers."
The study is published in the journal Nature Communications. The lead author was UNSW's Dr Joe Salfi and the team included CQC2T director Professor Michelle Simmons, other CQC2T researchers from UNSW and the University of Melbourne, as well as researchers from Purdue University in the US.
Two dopant atoms of boron only a few nanometres from each other in a silicon crystal were studied. They behaved like valence bonds, the "glue" that holds matter together when atoms with unpaired electrons in their outer orbitals overlap and bond.
The team's major advance was in being able to directly measure the electron "clouds" around the atoms and the energy of the interactions of the spin, or tiny magnetic orientation, of these electrons.
They were also able to correlate the interference patterns from the electrons, due to their wave-like nature, with their entanglement, or mutual dependence on each other for their properties.
"The behaviour of the electrons in the silicon chip matched the behaviour of electrons described in one of the most important theoretical models of materials that scientists rely on, called the Hubbard model," says Dr Salfi.
"This model describes the unusual interactions of electrons due to their wave-like properties and spins. And on of its main applications is to understand how electrons in a grid flow without resistance, even though they repel each other," he says.
The team also made a counterintuitive find - that the entanglement of the electrons in the silicon chip increased the further they were apart.
"This demonstrates a weird behaviour that is typical of quantum systems," says Professor Rogge.
"Our normal expectation is that increasing the distance between two objects will make them less, not more, dependent on each other.
"By making a larger set of dopant atoms in a grid in a silicon chip we could realise a vision first proposed in the 1980s by the physicist Richard Feynman of a quantum system that can simulate nature and help us understand it better," he says.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Note the interchangeability of quartz crystal vs silicon. Or, concurrently and in situ...note the quantum behaviour of nano dopants.
beautiful... but which part is eatable?
The part nearest to the house is mostly ornamental.
But the greater part of the property is fruit trees.
I could post pictures of those too, but you would still not be able to savor them.
We just finished a harvest of oranges from two dozen trees. Delicious Valencia oranges.
Now there is a harvest coming up a of carambolas. The branches are touching the ground, from the weight.
I got my freezer organized yesterday as there won't be enough room for them all in the fridge freezer.
Then there are mandarins, limes, some sour cherry-like fruits of which the name escapes me.
Also have several cassava plants, called Yucca here.
Not doing lettuces, tomatoes, carrots, cucumbers, as the local farmers markets are abundant and very cheap.
And I love going there.
Our avocado trees are struggling as it isn't quite warm enough for them.
We even have soursop trees, and the soursops are all inside plastic bags to protect them from a fruit fly that ruined our harvest last year.
Organic farming is a lot of work, and most of us we do ourselves.
You are welcome to use it. Cut and paste the address. It won't get lost like some from those companies that go under because I added them to my photobucket account.
How did I get such a large collection? Initially from you, Cal. I followed the addresses to those companies. To save time, what I do is I have a file 'at the ready' with the addresses and each has a name tag and indexed such as signs, animals, favorites.
Ha! a new one for my collection. I named it "Cal's thinking bubble":
THE MILITARY INDUSTRIAL COMPLEX!
I certainly don't hide it... my avitar is a picture of me in uniform... on my profile page is a picture of me in Iraq while deployed.
I have been military intelligence, now I'm a "Cyber Defense warrior"..... I'm deep in it, DEEP; yet I still feel disconnected... I love what I do (solve puzzles basically & find people who are doing... questionable things... (usualy not questionable... haha)).
I, of anyone I know on the bored (haha.. forum, at least now that Goode is gone) am the best target (haha again!) for the Shill label... I don't mind; I know my intent is good & I love you all (my STANDING invitation to ANY avalon forum member to the USVI is still there.. I will do anything in my power to make a trip here possible for any forum member... should they choose to do so) more than any common man I meet on the street (due to my own callousness based on numbers & common mentality of peoples, I'm easy to sway though if you don't mind conversation and follow it with substance).
I suppose that my definition of civility does not include ignoring facts or the lack of detail; as an example: I do not let my children say "I did good on my test" I correct them.. "you did well on your test"... Grammar is so important, is that petty?
if it is...
Is being petty indicative of being a shill?
well ****, I'm a shill then.
:)
(though I disagree, because again; that is a violation of grammar).
However, text is the worst form of communication possible, what is typed can have projections easily applied to it as there is no tone, no pace, no body language... how do you read intent from text without understanding nearly fully the poster? I don't think it's possible.
Generally, we don't.
se la vie (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/C%27est_la_vie)
out of politeness I will conform to projection, I feel it's limiting and entropic in nature... but then I think humans are the ultimate entropic expression on this planet, so I suppose it fits... so maybe it "is what it is".
If nothing else I live by "question everything always" and that is NOT a comfortable state for most people and probably the direct reason why I have very very few "friends" in my daily life.
anyway... ego vent... there's my side; judge me how you will.
I truly appreciate the support, but I think Giovanni needs it more (or maybe I'm being assumptive). I like the guy, I have no quarrel with him. I hope this isn't a long term issue at all and he continues to be a positive contributor to this forum.
I feel like I escalated this situation because I was a bit "worn out" from my own personal life situation the last few weeks and vented in this more public thread... I do not regret what I posted in his thread, but I am sorrowful that this would have (or did, I'm still not sure) caused anything more than a provocative thought or two (which is usually my only goal).
At this point I'm willing to offer to help him fly down for a vacation on the beach, free horse rides & a place to stay! I'm CERTAIN this could be cleared up "face to face".
(If my distaste for text communication hasn't been clear.. I'll state it again now: THIS IS THE WORST WAY TO COMMUNICATE! for various reasons that I can expand on further if desired). so much confusion in text...
So here's how my brain works:
Problem: text based communication.
Symptom: No personal context
Symptom: No pacing, or tone for contextual reference
Symptom: No body language, facial expressions or gestures to help give emphasis and meaning to contextual reference
Solution: Video based communication
Sub problem: not time sensitive, minor contextual issues.
I have a YouTube channel and am comfortable creating video responses, but perhaps we can encourage or tie in somehow video based communication? I think much of the messages could be clarified via video due to the above issues and lacks in text communication.
Natively there is no way P.A. could support this, the video requirements are just too great for a low funded site like this (full disclosure: I've never donated to the forum monetarily, but do not think that is a bad thing). Implementation would be difficult, but not impossible (GO PAUL!).
I know my energy is not always acceptable, I'm an incessant "fixer" even when sometimes things don't need fixing. But hey, we play the cards we are dealt, right?
Hello, Everyone :waving: — just stepping in to point out that, of course, that wasn't the reason. As you know, it's very rare that anyone is asked to leave because of a few heated words on one topic. We all have passionate views sometimes, and we all have our bad days. We know and understand this, and always allow for human nature.
It's where there's another longstanding agenda that there's a problem. There was a great deal of history, and observer had been critical of myself and the forum for well over 18 months prior. Some of this was not publicly visible. He was no friend of Avalon.
After his account was unsubscribed, we discovered that he'd been knowingly supporting TeXaR's duplicate ('sockpuppet') account. The two had been working as a covert 'tag team' together, with Hervé in their sights. It was 2 against 1 in the ring, and this was nothing to do with geology. It had been a vendetta.
Observer's understanding of the history of planet earth, it's evolution, and it's ultimate control mechanism and the technology of today, was second to none.
What I would like to see, regardless of the tension between Herve and Observer, who often disagreed on topics, or whether Observer was "tag teaming" Herve with Heyokah as TeXar the sock puppet, is some way to honor his great works and to highlight them.
The software this forum uses is not very friendly with observations, lessons, epiphanies, conscious awakenings, and collective conclusions, and that which is not on the front page as the hot topic for the day disappears into the abyss. Unless you are reading this forum every day, and follow those who interest you and read all of their stuff, it is hard to know what gems there are, who wrote them, and where to find them.
If the intent of this forum is to bring science and spirituality together, then there is a real missed opportunity here. Many will come and go, but their contributions need to be hallmarked, in my opinion.
Ps. don't worry WiFi is 99% safe.
You'll love this
THE MILITARY INDUSTRIAL COMPLEX!
I certainly don't hide it... my avitar is a picture of me in uniform... on my profile page is a picture of me in Iraq while deployed.
I have been military intelligence, now I'm a "Cyber Defense warrior"..... I'm deep in it, DEEP; yet I still feel disconnected... I love what I do (solve puzzles basically & find people who are doing... questionable things... (usualy not questionable... haha)).
I, of anyone I know on the bored (haha.. forum, at least now that Goode is gone) am the best target (haha again!) for the Shill label... I don't mind; I know my intent is good & I love you all (my STANDING invitation to ANY avalon forum member to the USVI is still there.. I will do anything in my power to make a trip here possible for any forum member... should they choose to do so) more than any common man I meet on the street (due to my own callousness based on numbers & common mentality of peoples, I'm easy to sway though if you don't mind conversation and follow it with substance).
I suppose that my definition of civility does not include ignoring facts or the lack of detail; as an example: I do not let my children say "I did good on my test" I correct them.. "you did well on your test"... Grammar is so important, is that petty?
if it is...
Is being petty indicative of being a shill?
well ****, I'm a shill then.
:)
(though I disagree, because again; that is a violation of grammar).
However, text is the worst form of communication possible, what is typed can have projections easily applied to it as there is no tone, no pace, no body language... how do you read intent from text without understanding nearly fully the poster? I don't think it's possible.
Generally, we don't.
se la vie (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/C%27est_la_vie)
out of politeness I will conform to projection, I feel it's limiting and entropic in nature... but then I think humans are the ultimate entropic expression on this planet, so I suppose it fits... so maybe it "is what it is".
If nothing else I live by "question everything always" and that is NOT a comfortable state for most people and probably the direct reason why I have very very few "friends" in my daily life.
anyway... ego vent... there's my side; judge me how you will.
From our Dear Friend Flash! :heart:
Tell Target that if he likes correcting his kids grammar, he may not mind if I or you are correcting his French Grammar. We don't write "se la vie" but "c'est la vie". Do not kill the beauty of Molière's language.
I'm staying out of this now, don't want to take sides about who is right and who is wrong...
With this many players on the stage I simply don't get a clear picture.
I had no idea that TeXar was Heyokah, hmm...
So when this many people are more concerned with their own self-image as truth seekers,
than their self-image as peace-makers, it is inevitable that there are going to be clashes.
Frustration and impatience and the need to be right will always get in the way, and make it impossible for spirit to correct cosmic messes.
Faith and trust in the goodwill of higher intelligences than ourselves are the only way that we can get protection from the brutality and inhospitality of nature going to extremes where life can no longer flourish.
Running Deer, thanks for the tutorial on how to use the search function here at Avalon. I have tried to go back into my own archives, and find that I can only go back about 4 pages. I would like to start with my own writing, collate all of it into categories, provide a page with links, and post it on my thread "from the Gripreaper" Then, anyone who wants to read it could easily find it, since I'm post mortem about six months now, many don't even know who I am or what I wrote, including myself! I think it would be interesting to see if I've learned anything in the last 5 years and if there's any gems in those 4000 posts.
This would be the best method, have the original author make a collective info dump of some type... though a general format (loose!) could be helpful for structuring the info... chronological? Topic based? Information management is a very very important skill & not one I do very well at.
I often go back and read my older posts; I felt it was narcissistic at first, but I do not think so now; self analysis is the most important thing I do (IMO). I have to continually confirm that my actions line up with who I think/want to be & not who my base programming can guide me to. There may be some useful things for others as well.
Prompted to reply here, Sierra, as this subject of 'spiritual versus occult' is one I've been wrestling with for some decades.
Both have their place. A person can still be spiritual if they believe in the 'spirits' of darkness. Atheists who believe in a spiritual hierarchy that they can control or command, via the use of knowledge.
And equally a person may wish to use occult knowledge to achieve a goal, and yet do so in the utmost respect for others and with no wish to harm anyone. Yet never ask the angelic realms for help.
Children trust their parents to look out for their safety, and have no clue that the knowledge which their parents are guided by is not always spiritual, but scientific (i.e. hidden knowledge to the child, with occult meaning "hidden", as the child doesn't understand weather forecasts nor the science behind it.
So it's about what each word means.
The important thing is that all can agree on a definition of those terms.
Normally the occult path is that of knowledge of how the cosmos functions, at the level of laws. Predictable events such as sunset or sunrise. Ocean tides. Even eclipses.
Everything is very precise at that level, i.e. Source or God has a system in place that helps things to operate smoothly, and predictably in the multi-dimensional cosmos.
Like rotation of stars or planets, i.e. a huge clockwork where things can be predicted.
But then there are also the exceptions, due to the fact that higher evolved beings ( the good guys) can use their conscious intent to change those events, and to answer prayers sent to them by people of trust and of faith. And so they can break the rules of the clockwork.
Even in cases where someone who might not deserve such an act of mercy can still benefit, and have thus a chance to change their attitude.
So here is the whole process of life evolving, from ignorance towards knowledge. And then with the discovery of the infinite to stretching constantly further away comes the discovery that in reality we will always remain ignorant when comparing ourselves to Source.
This is where the abusers of occult knowledge go wrong, as they are too proud to realize that for them, too, will come the day when none of this knowledge serves them anymore.
And at the level of children outgrowing their parents, discovering that their parents were never all-knowing at all, comes a great moment of liberation.
And then they will strive on their own, to become all-knowing, before they can accept that true spirituality is more encompassing than all the knowledge in the world.
You’re welcome, Grip. It’s a good idea. You can request a sticky for your "From the Gripreaper” thread. If you've saved some of your posts, you can run a google search with the first couple of lines. It'll take you to the forum post for other possible ones on the same thread. When I’m in a pinch, I’ll add my name and a few key words in the Avalon search engine.
If I understand your post, I’d not want to volunteer for the committee that hallmarks members' thoughts. For one, it could cause division if some make the “profound post of the day” while others get overlooked. What’s profound for one is old news for another in any of the areas: money, spirituality, health, science, etc. One other layer of complication is that some relate to “a picture says a thousand words”, while others enjoy lengthy “Four score and seven years ago”.
I miss a lot posts and threads because there are subset of a subset of a category. How I get around it is bookmark them as they pop up in the news feed. Thereafter, it’ll automatically come up.
For the curious, from “How to Tips”, post #22 (http://projectavalon.net/forum4/showthread.php?66104-How-to-Tips-with-Visuals-for-Links-Quotes-Images-etc.&p=847929&viewfull=1#post847929) here’s how to bookmark in 2 steps:
Part A: Click on the drop down menu found at the top right called, “Thread Tools”. Then click “Subscribe to this Thread”.
http://i1262.photobucket.com/albums/ii610/WhiteCrowBlackDeer/Computer_Tips/thread_subscribe_zpsff3da898.jpg
Then click “Add Subscription”.
Part B: How to check for the latest in your ‘news feed’ in 2 steps
Click on, “Settings” found at the top right.
http://i1262.photobucket.com/albums/ii610/WhiteCrowBlackDeer/Computer_Tips/settings_zps812b043b.jpg
Now, if anyone has posted since the last time you checked the site, it’ll register in your “news feed”.
Here’s a sample of what comes up, “Message Board: Avalonians Request Our Help”.
I have tried to go back into my own archives, and find that I can only go back about 4 pages.
If you click on the right arrow, to the right of the "4", in the list of page numbers in the upper right area of search results, you can go back further.
http://thepythoniccow.us/Search_Page_Numbers_Arrow_Screenshot_2016-04-24_13-58-26.png
You can get as far back as about page 30 to 50 (it varies by server load) by clicking on the "Page X of Y" pull down menu, to the left of the "1", in that same list of page numbers. This gets you back to approx 600 to 1000 posts ago of your contributions here. However you have to go backward in time at most 4 pages at a time, 5 ... 9 ... 13 ... 17 ... 21 ... 25 ... and so forth, as the search code only goes a little bit (4 pages of results, 80 posts) deeper each iteration, in an effort to avoid hanging the forum's backend database on deep searches. It's faster and easier to click on the right most number explicitly given (where the "4" is in the above image), and go back 3 pages at a time, with a single click each iteration.
Specific searches that limit to threads you started or to some keyword can get back further, usually all the way back to early 2010, if they match anything that far back. For example, just now I was able to get all 451 threads that Bill Ryan has started, all the way back to April 10, 2010, with appropriate settings of Advanced Search.
The "Advanced Search" routine used to have more options, but (1) they were essentially never used (2) they caused the important options to be used less, due to confusion, and (3) deep, long searches are a burden on the forum database, which passed one million posts on file, as of last November 2, 2015.
I can go back further, from my backups, and I could provide a member with a text file with all the posts they made, for those more prolific members who have more than 600 to 1000 or whatever posts that they can obtain using the forum's search facility. Using the custom tools I have to search my backups, I can for example easily get all 21381 (as of a few days ago) of my posts.
Ideally, we'd enhance the forum search facility, but that's more than we're able to do, with the abilities and resources we have.
Continuing with Jung, first part was good, this one's on consciousness. Going liberal & literal with this translation (it's late):
(PATTERN OF BEHAVIOUR AND ARCHETYPES; relating to matters of "the shadow"; 'the inferior part of one's personality')
The expression 'the inferior part of the personality" is inappropriate and misleading, while the term 'shadow' does not indicate anything that would fix its content. The 'man with no shadow' is statistically the most frequent type of human. The human who claims to be just that which he wishes to know of himself. Unfortunately, neither the so-called religious man nor the uncontested scientist are exceptions to this rule.
The confrontation with the archetype or the urge implies an ethical problem of the first order, the urgency of which is only felt by people who by necessity see themselves forced to assimilate the unconscious, and to integrate their personality. This, by the way, is the faith only of those who realise they are suffering from neurosis, or realise their psyche isn't doing too well. We're certainly not dealing with a majority. Those who are more of a mass type of human (cf. the masses) don't realise anything, and don't need to, because the only one who can really make mistakes is the unknown person, traditionally 'state' or 'society'. But as soon as a person realises that something depends on themselves, or should, he starts feeling responsible for his mental condition.
I agree. I should have clarified, I was speaking specifically of myself, and why things are the way they are. I suspect I blew it badly in a previous lifetime with occult dabblings coming from the wrong motivation or denying others their free will. Chris
Having clashed a few times with Observer, let me say that his mantra was, quote, ‘they are very clever at what they do’, to the point that if you think that you have the slightest wiggle room, you are deluded. If this were true, which I don’t for a moment accept, we would still have to live in the illusion that it was not. It is totally negative in the sense that anything one does is ultimately pointless, so ultimately anything goes. It brooks no discussion, defeating the very idea of a discussion forum. Observer had one friend, Heyokah/TeXar (and vice versa), which is one more than you would expect, but he could be no friend of Avalon; Avalon was his mouthpiece. His message was almost suicidal despair – maybe not on the physical plane, but on the metaphysical plane: he had this ‘Common Reality’ of his own construction in which he would include us all and from which he had to escape. I will not accept anyone’s ‘Common Reality’ that is not in harmony with my own perception of reality, which is precisely what we all bring to the table. A common reality is not a given – a box – it is a work in progress, a joint work in progress. No one, but no one, has all the answers: they cannot as we don’t even have all the questions. I am posting the link below because this goes way beyond the individual case of Observer.
http://projectavalon.net/forum4/showthread.php?1420-Simon-Parkes-about-Mantis-Aliens-Reptiles-and-other-aliens.&p=1059762&viewfull=1#post1059762
Yes, complexity of structure is an illusion that comes riding in on ignorance -- lack of knowing. Finding the underlying connection point tends to wipe away the perception of incompatible complex components.
There's many ways to describe the issue at hand, hence the difficulty of finding the correct point or placement from which to view. That is it's nature, until the given 'oh!' (aha!/eureka!) moment arrives.
Reduction of complexity into simplicity is the norm, when enlarging one's overall experiential position. But, that it may be hard won. Or not.
Note that science, as it stands and within how it is strictly maintained, involves much in the way of incompatible and incontrovertible complexities. The people within it are flawed and they are also within an inability to understand the basic maxims of expanding logic...which is that reduction to simplicity is the norm. That science must revise entire channels of established logic, in order to go forward into a wide ranging simplicity.
Essentially, it can be noted that the problems of a complexified and locked science that seems indecipherable and bound to being goosestepped dogmatic haze .... is an issue of the humans within it, not one of logic.
Like PurpleLama, I interpret the SUV to be the body.
And the driver would then be the spirit/soul.
And you have a scenario where the driver, i. e. spirit/soul wants to disconnect from the vehicle/body.
Park that car, in order to operate without a vehicle.
Could this be to do with Piscean desire to escape from 3D?
Anyway, the body or car is doing its own stuff, without being driven, because perhaps your time here isn't up yet?
But somehow, fortunately and mysteriously, it stops short, before it crashes.
Whatever that means, to me this dream is about your attitude towards your body, which is calling for more attention.
And getting it, obviously, because you even asked for help.
Great stuff.
Yes, complexity of structure is an illusion that comes riding in on ignorance -- lack of knowing. Finding the underlying connection point tends to wipe away the perception of incompatible complex components.
There's many ways to describe the issue at hand, hence the difficulty of finding the correct point or placement from which to view. That is it's nature, until the given 'oh!' (aha!/eureka!) moment arrives.
Reduction of complexity into simplicity is the norm, when enlarging one's overall experiential position. But, that it may be hard won. Or not.
Note that science, as it stands and within how it is strictly maintained, involves much in the way of incompatible and incontrovertible complexities. The people within it are flawed and they are also within an inability to understand the basic maxims of expanding logic...which is that reduction to simplicity is the norm. That science must revise entire channels of established logic, in order to go forward into a wide ranging simplicity.
Essentially, it can be noted that the problems of a complexified and locked science that seems indecipherable and bound to being goosestepped dogmatic haze .... is an issue of the humans within it, not one of logic.
The fact that the same simple patterns can be described in a vast variety of verbal expressions adds to the getting lost in the complexity ( which isn't really there)
But individuals choose the words they are comfortable with, and hence we have the " comfort zone", or style, that defines different cultures and ages.
I noticed how many people on this forum understand the "as above, so below" expression as something literal, like upper and lower. And so we see that tree symbol, with the root system reflecting the branch system.
Yet I see only the simplified geometric patterns , which are more like symbols, and therefore have nothing to do with size, or scale, but internal similarities which one can then draw from, to describe other life forms.
This is why analogies work, when describing so-called complexities.
Analogies serve to remind us of the common underlying designs, like dot(1) line(2) triangle(3) square(4) pentacle(5) hexagon(6) etc...
and now I will stop, as I'm sure I've lost y'all.
Ulli, rambling, triggered by Carmody rambling....
Having clashed a few times with Observer, let me say that his mantra was, quote, ‘they are very clever at what they do’, to the point that if you think that you have the slightest wiggle room, you are deluded. If this were true, which I don’t for a moment accept, we would still have to live in the illusion that it was not. It is totally negative in the sense that anything one does is ultimately pointless, so ultimately anything goes. It brooks no discussion, defeating the very idea of a discussion forum. Observer had one friend, Heyokah/TeXar (and vice versa), which is one more than you would expect, but he could be no friend of Avalon; Avalon was his mouthpiece. His message was almost suicidal despair – maybe not on the physical plane, but on the metaphysical plane: he had this ‘Common Reality’ of his own construction in which he would include us all and from which he had to escape. I will not accept anyone’s ‘Common Reality’ that is not in harmony with my own perception of reality, which is precisely what we all bring to the table. A common reality is not a given – a box – it is a work in progress, a joint work in progress. No one, but no one, has all the answers: they cannot as we don’t even have all the questions. I am posting the link below because this goes way beyond the individual case of Observer.
Those extended limbs and camaraderie were promptly hacked off. Thus, I reasonably ceased attempting.
To say... it reminds me of how Ray McGovern spoke about the necons. How they were considered by the CIA regulars as complete nutbars who were dismissed for their extremes of positions, positions which were untenable in any form, and any place.
Problem was, their insanity was so pressured and dogmatically lived... that it gained ascendancy in the US political open and dark systems.
Craziness is a form of loneliness, cutting oneself off, which is what I understand sin to be. A ‘lone nut’ is something of a pleonasm. I suggested somewhere on this forum that the lone nut meme in the JFK assassination actually referred to Kennedy himself as a one-off white hat among the elite. Normally you stay sane by remembering you are not alone, in other words through cooperation and altruism; our current society is insane because it values selfishness and individualism. Hence madness which originally results from isolation can however spread to form the mass psychosis of the last hundred years. Nonetheless, the solution is to still to stick together. A group of true lone nuts cannot produce any coordinated action for any length of time, whereas a coordinated group of truly sane nutters can, does and will achieve exactly that. The trouble with Kennedy was that not only was he not insane, neither was he alone; he had a brother, RFK, another in the wings (Ted), and another a generation down the line (John Kennedy Jr) etc., and most of all a whole nation and more to back him up.
When I went out this morning it was raining, a couple minutes later it was snowing and few more minutes later it was hailing. This went on. The wind came too, we played a little cat and mouse. Back inside the sun came out, very bright, as if none of this had really happened. And now it's gloomingly dark, I'm waiting for the first lightning stroke to be cast out of the nervous clouds.
Welcome to Belgium.
I have been having some intense dreams the last few weeks. One snippet happened twice.
Twice I dreamed that I had parked my suv and was walking away and the vehicle started moving forward but automatically stopped before it smashed into something.
Anybody want to take a stab at interpreting?
Thank you!
-jean-marie
The best interpreter is the dreamer himself.
Cars, and steering esp., have to do with control. Who's steering? Who's in control, of your life? So, if you parked, you're the driver but there's a problem.
Just when you think you're all set and make yourself ready to leave, something happens. You revise the situation. It looks good, and then something else happens.
Worse than the first thing (car moving while you had already parked it). Now how could that happen? How could you not have prevented that? Etc.
You say you dreamt this twice.
It might relate to a current situation. Where you are trying very hard to make something work and initially under the impression that it is working but then blocks pop up out of nowhere.
Your turn to see if there is something in waking life that you can identify with this.
I don't mind; I know my intent is good & I love you all (my STANDING invitation to ANY avalon forum member to the USVI is still there.. Craziness is a form of loneliness, cutting oneself off, which is what I understand sin to be. A ‘lone nut’ is something of a pleonasm. I suggested somewhere on this forum that the lone nut meme in the JFK assassination actually referred to Kennedy himself as a one-off white hat among the elite. Normally you stay sane by remembering you are not alone, in other words through cooperation and altruism;
My interpretation: being crazy means going against the greater system to which you belong to; stepping out of it and calling it out means you are crazy a lone nut.
But who is the group you belong to and hold this alliegance to: secret societies, the hidden government. Don't be crazy stay within the lines or you will be called crazy or taken out.
This larger group does not do cooperation and altruism very well, they say all the words but do the opposite. Their is an old saying, "If you want a friend in Washington, get a dog
our current society is insane because it values selfishness and individualism.
Our current society is insane because we have insane leaders who own all the newspapers that promote selfishness, loveless sexuality and getting new body parts
but not true individualism, but a false one, be one of the crowd, join the group think and don't stand out and tell the emperor he has no clothes, and that he is crazy, but don't say it or else you will be seen as CRAZY.
Hence madness which originally results from isolation can however spread to form the mass psychosis of the last hundred years.
A few mad men can infect others to see in the madness of their leaders and their tight little circles. and hidden plans and mechanisms. It can spread and disrupt the larger design. It called a revolution or a mutiny not mass psychosis.
Nonetheless, the solution is to still to stick together. A group of true lone nuts cannot produce any coordinated action for any length of time, whereas a coordinated group of truly sane nutters can, does and will achieve exactly that. The trouble with Kennedy was that not only was he not insane, neither was he alone; he had a brother, RFK, another in the wings (Ted), and another a generation down the line (John Kennedy Jr) etc., and most of all a whole nation and more to back him up.[/QUOTE]
I love your reversals,
yes, we must stick together and support our mad king.
The nutters, in your view, are the seers who see that the real crazy ones are the larger group, the leaders, they are really the crazy ones. Look around, all the pollution, wars who else but a crazy emperor and his cronnies, would create such a world. The nutters are the leaders, the lone nut is the sane one.
BY THEIR WORKS THEY SHALL BE KNOWN
But the lone nut must be dealt with, and after that we (the insane emperor) will built monuments and give him a holiday, say what a great guy he was all the while we were the ones who took him out. On his death date we will bring out our talking heads and say all kind of nice things about this "nutter".
That is crazy...really crazy.
Rahkyt, you probably weren't around last year when I closed my Barbados apartment.
Now, when I go, which won't be as often as in the past, I'll be staying with friends.
I live in the mountain village of Orosi, Costa Rica.
You are welcome.
Initially I planned to do an infinity pool, but since we'd have to heat it, and they nearly all develop leaks, we decided to just stick with an outdoor hot tub...financial reasons. If I need a good swim I can go to to either Atlantic or Pacific coast...just a few hours drive.
But there are also nearby pools...some even with thermal waters.
‘tautaulogically the same thing’, as James Joyce puts it, adding the spelling mistake for extra effect. You would expect nothing else from a holographic universe; except that in the real world there are slight variations, such as writing ‘tautologically’ with an o. ‘Tauto’ means the same (t’auto, t’ same), i.e. selfsame. So the world is really only pleonastic up to a point: over an eon it is plastic, things change, stuff happens; we do not live in a kaleidoscope.
Pleonasm on the other hand conveys the idea of being excessive or superfluous. Crazy means wanting to do away with the excessiveness, i.e. cosily in a perfect kaleidoscope. This is uncomfortably impossible because 'plus c'est la même chose, plus ça change'.
A while ago you posted another interview of Maya somewhere else but it wouldn’t open for me.
Btw, Maya's most recent run on C-Span (http://www.c-span.org/video/?408126-4/washington-journal-maya-rockeymoore-minority-entrepreneurship) this past weekend, in regards to minority entrepreneurship following the 2008 crash.
I watched the interview in this link, this time it worked. It was so very much time to sleep last night with about 40km of bad weather cycling on my counter but what can I say: it was too interesting to put on the list.
She is right about so many things. Inclusion, for instance. Agreeing on inclusion and agreeing on it being of a diverse nature still is a problem here. We sing songs (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HYMXS-laqnI)about that, the toddlers learn riddles about inclusiveness in school, we love to pride ourselves in showing art that embraces the world but comes puntje bij paaltje (as we say in Dutch; if push comes to shove), the labour market seems to have its own rules:
you can't be black (I hardly ever see black people in Flemish administration), you can't wear fabric on your head (banning both largely and modestly veiled ladies, except sometimes for migrant related-matters, if government-ruled, they might allow it. Private corporations: very unlikely. And no Sikhs either), you can't look Chinese (I hardly ever see Chinese or Asian people in administrative jobs yet we have them and they were born here. These are the people who make the stuff that runs administration. The Chinese then seem to primarily opt for running their own businesses).
I chose the example of administrative jobs for illustration because that’s where you can actually see people, see the diversity of society. A diversity that is a fact. It’s not an interpretation, it’s a situation. You can’t make it disappear by manipulating the labour market such that these foreign faces can’t be seen.
I mean: come on. It has to stop.
Making the (rest of the) general population believe that all these ethnic minorities "simply" have serious issues integrating and using that as a never-ending explanation as to why they are so invisible on the labour market is getting bo-ring. It also miserably fails to explain why we have people like Maya. And no: she is not an exception.
That doesn't work anymore. We are too many exceptions now.
It always remains a mystery to me why so many people keep buying into the rhetorics. It is intellectually insulting. To me as a fellow-human, but as much so for the ones buying it.
Pseudo-arguments like that work to appease those that are convinced that people of colour are lazy bastards leeching the social system (cf. the republican caller from Arizona, 46 min) and are creating economical problems for the autochtonous (as we say for original locals, as opposed to: allochtonous (http://www.thefreedictionary.com/Allochton)) people. “Wé can’t keep paying for that." And those votes play an important role. Especially for the politicians currently in power as it is their ideology and they need that ideology standing to survive the next elections.
I picked this up last night from a newspaper headline: Flemish education scores bad on equal chances (Itinera study (http://www.standaard.be/cnt/dmf20160426_02259878)based on Pisa-test 2012, under supervision of Oeso). And that is problematic, of course, but the thing is, I can't recall a positive test result yet. It's the same every time. Bad scores for equal chances. If you come from a "priviliged" environment, the article says, you have seven times more chance of becoming a top student than if you come from a weaker environment. And this has to do with teachers as well, when will these reports start emphasizing that? Teachers are influenced by these differences in their perception ànd evaluation. Some unconsciously and some know very well what they're doing. And these are the people who from ages as early as 2.5 help in determining the educational trajectory of the child.
Included in the report (pun intended) "We need inclusive education".
- Yes, I know, now when will it be ready?
Does Maya have specifics as to how the foundation wants to see education evolve? Where I can I get the report she refers to?
Maya mentioned that people of colour despite growing in the US are many among the marginalised. It is a structural problem. It's also a local frustration where we have youth wondering why, even though they are born here, participate just like any other child, still have to face the risk of such a prospect. This in turn ties into the terror threat. Two weeks ago, there was a young man from a foreign background on the radio who was invited after he had initiated a Twitter project aimed at confronting terrorist propaganda. Confronting and refuting, with the aim of making it unattractive for the - as he said - many young people willing to buy into it. Why? Because it targets their frustrations. It promises them a solution, and it comes from people who present themselves as having gone through the same thing. It facilitates identification.
So, just going on inclusion, you can see that there are so many layers.
I must say I never heard of people of colour being charged more for a mortgage. Very surprised and shocked to hear that.
Buying a house is not a priority for ethnic minorities here, I think. I can't speak for others of course, but it's increasingly impossible, and some venture. (Liveable) Houses are at round 180.000-190.000 EUR and higher. Even the people who can afford it, get help from grandparents and parents in the form of in-advance-inheritance. People with low income usually just struggle getting social housing (for rent), the lists are long. So, they are too busy either finding ways to rent liveable private appartments at 600 EUR-700EUR (2 bedrooms) or unliveable appartments at slightly lower, and don't think so much about buying property. But it used to be different. Among the migrant workers who came here in the late sixties there was a portion that at one point bought a house, and still own it or their children inherited it. So, as early as the first generations you will be able to spot property holders.
A Tennessee caller stressed that family is important, and I would like to underline that, without making people feel guilty who were/are in situations where family became untenable due to violence, abuse, etc, and where attempts at restoring balance, exhausted. These are not healthy situations, not for the partners and definitely not for the children. I write this because there was a caller refering to black single mums. And he made it sound like a careless option.
It was interesting also that Maya made a link with the entertainment/cultural industry because it plays a larger societal role than assumed. And she refered to the last Oscars and people mitigating that (btw Jada if you're reading: please, do a Nina movie with a black Nina). What is projected on the television screen, in theater plays, in the group of popular book writers, in the group of local painters, etc., as "society", on a daily basis imprints your brain (even if genetically foreign*) to divide the world as you will enter it from the moment you leave the house, into belonging and not belonging. Compared to the Netherlands, for instance - and with all due respect to national TV VRT (http://deredactie.be/)'s efforts over the last couple of years (where are the local black people in TV-land) - we're doing...deplorable.
At the end of the interview there was a caller from Virginia who suggested a monument and also mentioned the "root of slavery". And I keep thinking about that because, we have no root of slavery to trace our problems back to.
It's sad to see that Maya is having a hard time establishing republican partnerships. There were republican callers, so they're aware and seem to care enough to call and be heard, then why not take on that challenge and actively join to work towards a solution? Is it, like I think I heard her say, a problem of visibility? See the example of labour market above, is it inappropriate for the republican public image? Will the standards forever prescribe an as uniform/neutral (whatever other words they (mis)use for it) appearance?
Coming back to the core of the interview, business ownership. I can see this locally trending as a reaction to labour market exclusion. And whereas one caller pointed out capital as the primary block, I would estimate that here we would have: regulations/compliancy. Regulation for business ownership requires excellent command of the local language. That's where things start going wrong. You need to understand sufficient legal, accountancy, fiscal terminology if you want to dive into that pool. Now, we will find the entrepreneurs brave enough to try it, but there is a great risk of failure because soon enough one finds difficulty complying (timely) with regulations, and when fines pile up, costs pile up, it ends.
I had a business myself at one point and because I couldn't afford an accountant, I did all the administration myself. A couple of times, I forgot a deadline; I used to combine this business with a part-time job. And risked being fined, were it not my timely proactive reaction to get things sorted.
In my case, I've succesfully completed the full educational trajectory and when I look at the entrepreneurs I'm talking about, who may have come here as old as 20 to 30, older, no valid degrees (secondary education in foreign lands or higher education not recognised in EU), having had to learn the language at that age, having gone through a period of unemployment and the social isolation that comes with it (not very promoting of practising newly learned language), I worry about that. They definitely need more support, perhaps in the form of mentoring, ideally by someone who also speaks their home language, knows their culture and knows how to help these people transition into the rigid bureaucracy that we have here, and that you need to understand very well, if you want to be succesful at what you're doing. These people are highly motivated for trade, some have roots in trade, and our economy needs them but the trade alone is not enough. I had to stop because once I started building a solid client base and income substantially went up, my due taxes became so high that the business was no longer profitable. Belgium has a tax reputation. We've seen large corporations leave one after the other because they get better tax offers with our neighbours or further.
Maya said in the beginning that African-American women are least likely to have businesses with employees. That's a trend I spot here as well. Most businesses if owned by people of colour, will have males as entrepreneurs. She made me so curious as to how this report would look based on our local situation.
Let me close with saying that I found Maya's appearance impressive. She was very eloquent and so elegantly handled the questions. Very laudable what this woman is doing :bowing:.
* = meaning that even people of colour will be imprinted the idea of acceptance of a dominant white society where their own role is predestined subordinate, and into being unreasonably critical of other people of colour
I use to believe the ‘no pain, no gain’ mantra, but for the last 28 years it’s more about sharpened focus, breath and simple enjoyment of movement which enhances flexibility of mind, body and health.
I touched down on the earth plane with a busy mind and body. I’ve been active my entire life: softball, field hockey, basketball, racquetball, simple yoga stretches, weights, 3-5 mile runner, Kung Fu, Tai Chi fighting and form, etc.
Below are snippets from Covert Bailey’s book, “The Ultimate Fit or Fat (http://www.amazon.com/Ultimate-Fit-Fat-Covert-Bailey/dp/0618002049/ref=asap_bc?ie=UTF8),” and a link to a calculator that’s based on the formula from his book for percentage of body fat (http://www.fat2fittools.com/tools/cbbf/).
pg. 8-9 - "If you gain weight more easily now than when you were young, it is because your muscles can no longer burn up all the calories you feed them. The ultimate control of metabolism is exercise…
…Exercise can change your metabolism in such a way that you become more and more resistant to gaining weight…
…The control mechanism for obesity is not diet, it’s muscle metabolism….
…Even if you loose weight on a diet, your aren’t fixing the slow metabolism that makes you quickly gain weight again."
pg. 83-4 - "The fewer muscles you use, the longer you need to exercise. If you want to shorten your exercise time, you have to find activities that incorporate lots of muscles. The more muscles you use, the greater the systemic, whole-body response and, therefore, the less long you gotta do it!"
Here’s another personalized principle:
If you’re fit, exercise long.
If you’re fat, go short but often.
"In very fit people, exercising for long periods affects more than just the fat-burning enzymes. These people notice improvements in mood, sleep, and appetite control that those who exercise for only twenty or thirty minutes a day don’t experience. Fat people, because their muscles tend to switch to sugar-burning more easily, don’t get these improvements even if they exercise for long periods. They just get sore, crank, and hungry. For this reason, I recommend that if you’re fat you should exercise for ten to fifteen minutes two to three times a day. As you become fitter, you should extend your exercise for longer and longer period but also give yourself longer rests between exercise sessions."
Along the same lines, consider this:
The fatter you are the more often you should exercise.
*********
pg. 85
The older you are, the LONGER you need to exercise.
BUT!
You need to exercise more gently.
“… If you exercise too hard, the muscles spend all their energy repairing damaged tissue instead of growing new tissue. And here’s another exception for older folks:
If you’re older, don’t do the same exercise every day. This ties in with what I just said about older people taking longer to repair. By vary their exercises, they can work different muscles while the previously exercised muscles are being repaired.”
pg. 41 - “Big people are not always fat. Skinny people are not always lean.”
“…when we did the body fat test, Alice was overfat . At 32 percent, she looked slender, but she was fat inside. Over the years, fat had seeped in and around her under exercised muscles, giving them the appearance of the marbling we see in tender, high-fat steaks. Her fat had piled up while her muscles had atrophied from disuse. In a sense, fat had replaced muscle, so she hadn’t gained weight. She was getting fatter but not heavier. But muscles can hold only so much fat! Eventually fat is deposited outside of muscle, under the skin. This subcutaneous fat doesn’t replace anything; it is simply an addition, so the person’s weight begins to climb. It would be only a matter of time before Alice’s marbled muscles refused to hide any more fat and it would ‘spill over’ under her skin; she would gain weight.”
pg. 138 - “Exercise if worthless if you don’t recover from it!”
“…some body builders lift every day, but they're careful to not use the same muscles each time. They might work the upper body one day, the lower body the next.
The amount of recovery time needed after aerobic exercise isn’t so clear-cut. We say that twenty-four hours is usually sufficient, but that number varies with how old you are, how hard you exercised, and how long you did it…. Use your common sense.” “…If you’re older, allow more time for recovery. Do a greater variety of activities so that, like the body builders, you use different muscles.”
pg. 97 - Get a balance diet of good exercise: aerobics, cross training, wind sprints, weight-lifting.
Another good book by him is “Smart Exercise: Burning Fat, Getting Fit (http://www.amazon.com/Smart-Exercise-Burning-Fat-Getting/dp/0395661145/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1460578954&sr=8-1&keywords=Smart+Exercise+burning+fat%2C+getting+fit)”.
A ‘lone nut’ is something of a pleonasm.
Ooo. New word, at least for this one.
Carmody be Pleonistic. Carmody exemplify being as an in situ Superfluous orgasmic explosion of Pleonastomy at it's brightly lit radiant finest greatness.
‘tautaulogically the same thing’, as James Joyce puts it, adding the spelling mistake for extra effect. You would expect nothing else from a holographic universe; except that in the real world there are slight variations, such as writing ‘tautologically’ with an o. ‘Tauto’ means the same (t’auto, t’ same), i.e. selfsame. So the world is really only pleonastic up to a point: over an eon it is plastic, things change, stuff happens; we do not live in a kaleidoscope.
Pleonasm on the other hand conveys the idea of being excessive or superfluous. Crazy means wanting to do away with the excessiveness, i.e. cosily in a perfect kaleidoscope. This is uncomfortably impossible because 'plus c'est la même chose, plus ça change'.
We may not live in a kaleidoscope - but it might be a tumble dryer.
Yes, complexity of structure is an illusion that comes riding in on ignorance -- lack of knowing. Finding the underlying connection point tends to wipe away the perception of incompatible complex components.
There's many ways to describe the issue at hand, hence the difficulty of finding the correct point or placement from which to view. That is it's nature, until the given 'oh!' (aha!/eureka!) moment arrives.
Reduction of complexity into simplicity is the norm, when enlarging one's overall experiential position. But, that it may be hard won. Or not.
Note that science, as it stands and within how it is strictly maintained, involves much in the way of incompatible and incontrovertible complexities. The people within it are flawed and they are also within an inability to understand the basic maxims of expanding logic...which is that reduction to simplicity is the norm. That science must revise entire channels of established logic, in order to go forward into a wide ranging simplicity.
Essentially, it can be noted that the problems of a complexified and locked science that seems indecipherable and bound to being goosestepped dogmatic haze .... is an issue of the humans within it, not one of logic.
When the overview comes, it collapses into simplicity -is sort of what I was saying.
Like so. (http://projectavalon.net/forum4/showthread.php?90121-JOHN-PILGER-ASKS-Where-are-the-dissidents-in-art-film-the-theatre-literature&p=1064236&viewfull=1#post1064236)
Thanks RunningDeer, for answering Dennis's question. I'm on and off PA in recent months, but more regularly on than off in recent weeks, although I generally just peruse the most recent content looking for alternative news.
Violet, thank you for your commentary. I'll try to answer as best as I can. I've contracted with Maya over the years - as my formal training is in geographic information systems (GIS), which she uses in some of her grant projects - and was also a Fellow with her company, Global Policy Solutions (GPS) (http://globalpolicysolutions.com/) for a while, back in 2010, so I have a general familiarity with what her work is and what it covers.
Inclusion, for instance. Agreeing on inclusion and agreeing on it being of a diverse nature still is a problem here. We sing songs about that, the toddlers learn riddles about inclusiveness in school, we love to pride ourselves in showing art that embraces the world but comes puntje bij paaltje (as we say in Dutch; if push comes to shove), the labour market seems to have its own rules:
you can't be black (I hardly ever see black people in Flemish administration), you can't wear fabric on your head (banning both largely and modestly veiled ladies, except sometimes for migrant related-matters, if government-ruled, they might allow it. Private corporations: very unlikely. And no Sikhs either), you can't look Chinese (I hardly ever see Chinese or Asian people in administrative jobs yet we have them and they were born here. These are the people who make the stuff that runs administration. The Chinese then seem to primarily opt for running their own businesses).
I chose the example of administrative jobs for illustration because that’s where you can actually see people, see the diversity of society. A diversity that is a fact. It’s not an interpretation, it’s a situation. You can’t make it disappear by manipulating the labour market such that these foreign faces can’t be seen.
I mean: come on. It has to stop.
Institutionalized mores take quite a while to overturn because they are semi-automatic. The United States is a nation that has had to tackle these issues of diversity head on because we are one of very few nations in the world that have been created around an ideal, that of natural law and citizenship within a nation of equals. Almost all other nations in the world are ethnic nations, evolving around ethno-racial groupings in the region of their societal and physical evolution. E Pluribus Unum, "Out of Many, One" is a credo that has meant a lot in this nation to disparate populations over time. To all of the immigrant populations as they come to this country and are assimilated, no less so with the indigenous black population, as we have taken on the issues that now affect ALL populations below the 1%. Darker populations in Oligarchies, have been target populations, "canary in the coalmine" populations, now, for centuries. What has been done to us historically became part of a blueprint that is being applied across the nation, in many other nations, and across the world. Now, with technology being what it is, global, voluntary slavery is ubiquitous in ways that we here are all very familiar with.
Our parents educated us in black history early. We had access to a voluminous library, spent many hours in libraries and were not sheltered by our parents from the nature of black life in the US of A, even though we were physically sheltered in our early surroundings. We were raised as military brats, our mother was a teacher our father an NCO who became an officer and we traveled this nation and the world in our youths, living for the most part on military reservations that are the closest thing this nation has come to true, integrated and egalitarian communities. Despite being raised in such a bubble-like environment, we identify fully and proudly as black American. Quintessentially American/Omni-Americans, in fact, as our genetic line includes African, native American and European genetic strains. Don't get no more American than that. Because of the tradition of black insurgency here in the US, it is, quite literally, built into us. Ingrained as a genetic expression. We are designed for this and Maya encapsulates and expresses the nature of our very being ably.
Making the (rest of the) general population believe that all these ethnic minorities "simply" have serious issues integrating and using that as a never-ending explanation as to why they are so invisible on the labour market is getting bo-ring. It also miserably fails to explain why we have people like Maya. And no: she is not an exception.
That doesn't work anymore. We are too many exceptions now.
We are. And, to top it all off, the 2008 financial crash was important in another way. In that event, we witness the formal ending of the tacit agreement between the 1% and middle class whites. This resulted in the youngest generations of whites realizing their status and exclusion from a system that is unsustainable over time. They discovered the nature of the system, some chose to begin to explore the rich protest literature which has exemplified other people's navigation of this system and which has been written and honed by blacks and other minority populations in America for centuries. People such as Maya, my other sister, Meredith (http://www.huffingtonpost.com/dr-meredith-rockeymoore-brooks/suffer-the-little-children-treating-chronic-pain-in-kids_b_7856492.html), or even myself, raised within the system but without many of the material strictures experienced by other blacks in urban areas or country environs, have no boundaries upon our potentialities and so are not constrained mentally by some more overt and generally recognized forms of racial conditioning. While only a small percentage of black Americans have this life experience, others - also limited in number - who lived corporate lives, or who come from the entrenched "black elite" that this nation has also always had, have some facsimile of this type of mental freedom as well. The exceptions continue to abound.
It always remains a mystery to me why so many people keep buying into the rhetorics. It is intellectually insulting. To me as a fellow-human, but as much so for the ones buying it.
Well, here in the US at least, intellect is not always in evidence in these questions. They are very visceral for many people, apparently, kind of atavistic or even innately xenophobic. While there are studies that tend to show that very young children are inherently racist (http://time.com/67092/baby-racists-survival-strategy/?awc=5160_1461862311_158e213fd59878d3dbc473a16ea1d670), social conditioning in the modern area can override what may indeed be natural, xenophobic tendencies as our society becomes truly global in nature. A process that seems to be coalescing at break-neck speed currently.
It seems to be primarily self-interest. The well-being of ones self and family. In-group behavior that is also very ancient and tribal in nature. Universalism does not one seem to be one of humanity's natural tendencies.
Does Maya have specifics as to how the foundation wants to see education evolve? Where I can I get the report she refers to?
You can visit her website, the link to the report should be available there somewhere. If it is not, then it has not yet been formally been released by the corporate entity that commissioned it. Their website would be the place to check, then.
I must say I never heard of people of colour being charged more for a mortgage. Very surprised and shocked to hear that.
Oh yes. From Roosevelt's New Deal to home loans for veterans after WWII and the mass suburbanization of the white population, blacks have been left out of America's rise into prosperity purposefully and with deliberate animus. Gerrymandering and redlining have been political strategies that have been put in place in order to retain control by whites, even over places with majority minority populations.
The funny thing is, in this country at least, whites want to keep blacks out of their areas, but then, they work as hard as they can to keep us from succeeding in our own areas as well. There are many tales of black communities being deliberately destroyed because of their prosperity, and of strategies designed to siphon money out of black communities as well as talent. Some call it "integration".
A Tennessee caller stressed that family is important, and I would like to underline that, without making people feel guilty who were/are in situations where family became untenable due to violence, abuse, etc, and where attempts at restoring balance, exhausted. These are not healthy situations, not for the partners and definitely not for the children. I write this because there was a caller refering to black single mums. And he made it sound like a careless option.
Yeh...another narrative with a long and tedious, as well as ignorant, history in the USA. One that totally ignores the context and continuing institutional barriers in favor of a strict and blinkered look at census statistics. I could, but it's too long to go into here. Suffice it to say, if you're interested in such issues here in the US there are many, many resources available on the net that can shed more light on the topic.
It was interesting also that Maya made a link with the entertainment/cultural industry because it plays a larger societal role than assumed. And she refered to the last Oscars and people mitigating that (btw Jada if you're reading: please, do a Nina movie with a black Nina). What is projected on the television screen, in theater plays, in the group of popular book writers, in the group of local painters, etc., as "society", on a daily basis imprints your brain (even if genetically foreign*) to divide the world as you will enter it from the moment you leave the house, into belonging and not belonging. Compared to the Netherlands, for instance - and with all due respect to national TV VRT (http://deredactie.be/)'s efforts over the last couple of years (where are the local black people in TV-land) - we're doing...deplorable.
A very important point, as the media serves as our oral historian and our campfire tales. The things that bind us together in a collective, cultural whole. Which we indeed are, despite our diversity and differences. While more diversity has been expressed on the boob tube pretty consistently over the years and decades, it has only been during the Obama era that those roles have transcended the narrow, stereotypical strictures which defined and limited black actors, and black people, for decades. Many point to the upcoming majority-minority evolution of the American polity as reason for this, many blame some sort of multicultural conspiracy. I've read and seen them all. I know that the sovereignty movement sees citizenship as defined here in the US under the 14th amendment (meant to give blacks freed after slavery legal rights) - which also gave corporations legal personhood - as corporate enslavement and they are probably right, which leads us into all kinds of problems. Us, against them, primary among these problems. Politically speaking, the black population in the US, because of the peculiar institution and our peculiar history, have always served as "entertainment", labor and, also, as a tool/threat to keep lower and middle-class white populations in line. Who is to say this is not a part of this increasing media visibility, as we see in Trump's rise and the increasing demagoguery of the Right, that a visceral and violent racism lurks just beneath the surface in a substantial proportion of the American population, even still ...
At the end of the interview there was a caller from Virginia who suggested a monument and also mentioned the "root of slavery". And I keep thinking about that because, we have no root of slavery to trace our problems back to.
And this is why the US is so unique. And is also why black populations in other nations look to us as exemplars. Because we have been forced into struggle since we were forced here, for life itself. In other nations, the black populations are smaller, and not seen as threats. With no history of slave rebellions, no history of abolitionists, no history of the KKK and night riders, no history of black codes or Jim Crow, no history of native American genocide, a different type of history of eugenics, of operations like Paperclip and FBI COINTELPRO, a more recent history of Manchurian and Monarch programming, on and on, and on. It all remains interconnected and goes back to this nation's original sin, race-based slavery.
It's sad to see that Maya is having a hard time establishing republican partnerships. There were republican callers, so they're aware and seem to care enough to call and be heard, then why not take on that challenge and actively join to work towards a solution? Is it, like I think I heard her say, a problem of visibility? See the example of labour market above, is it inappropriate for the republican public image? Will the standards forever prescribe an as uniform/neutral (whatever other words they (mis)use for it) appearance?
There is the Left, which Maya represents, there is the Right, represented by Conservatives, there is the middle, where many of her callers find themselves, and then there are the Outliers, like us, here. The outliers are getting more numerous and stronger, which is affecting the Left, Right and Center. A critical mass will soon be reached and that fundamental shift so many have talked about for so long now is well in progress and nigh unavoidable. No one can tell the time, but it is coming like a wave crashing on a beach. Inevitable. Thank goodness.
In my case, I've succesfully completed the full educational trajectory and when I look at the entrepreneurs I'm talking about, who may have come here as old as 20 to 30, older, no valid degrees (secondary education in foreign lands or higher education not recognised in EU), having had to learn the language at that age, having gone through a period of unemployment and the social isolation that comes with it (not very promoting of practising newly learned language), I worry about that. They definitely need more support, perhaps in the form of mentoring, ideally by someone who also speaks their home language, knows their culture and knows how to help these people transition into the rigid bureaucracy that we have here, and that you need to understand very well, if you want to be succesful at what you're doing. These people are highly motivated for trade, some have roots in trade, and our economy needs them but the trade alone is not enough. I had to stop because once I started building a solid client base and income substantially went up, my due taxes became so high that the business was no longer profitable. Belgium has a tax reputation. We've seen large corporations leave one after the other because they get better tax offers with our neighbours or further.
I have lived in Belgium for a time. A town called Vilvoorde outside of Brussels. Maya lived in the Netherlands, spent a semester at the University of Leiden. I don't recall if she mentions the prevalence of Latino-owned businesses. We see that a lot down here in the Southwest, but, the culture down here supports bilingualism in a way that I'm sure your nation may not. She did a study that I made the maps for a few years ago, looking at the aging Latino population, where they were, and if services were available in those locations. We found that, in many cases, they were not, as this population has begun to spread all around the nation, instead of being concentrated in the southern regions.
Let me close with saying that I found Maya's appearance impressive. She was very eloquent and so elegantly handled the questions. Very laudable what this woman is doing :bowing:.
I'm sure she would thank you for your kind words. She works very hard and is now very experienced. The world is changing. She is at the forefront of that institutional shift, along with her husband (https://cummings.house.gov/). We will see what comes next.
The two years I just spent in Canada were noticeably racism free. I was in Montreal/Hudson, and Cornwall, Ontario. Now, the 1st Nations folks I knew, know differently. I think the history of black Americans fleeing slavery in the US may have something to do with that. Montreal was very diverse in my eyes as well. Amazingly so. We actually have three official languages: Dutch, French and German. They are all three officially supported.
By way of charicature: The francophônes (French-speaking*) refuse to speak Dutch/Flemish, the Flemish refuse to speak French and the German-speaking* tiny bit in the east,...I don't know. They're a bit remote from the general scene, and not so much higlighted in daily life.
Each country has its history. There is a historical reason why both country parts don't like the other language that much. A.o. the French and Dutch rulerships and related linguistic issues. And how the Flemish have had to fight for their language to be recognised and institutionalised when French was dominant. They were historically looked down upon because they were "just" peasants, and their language got the same respect. They fought for a Flemish identity, a Flemish culture and independence.
The relationship with the Dutch is also interesting. There are bits of Belgian history on the forum, more relating to the royals and their ancestry, I think, but the cultural perspective and these constant shifts have left marks in many ways.
The Dutch, original owners of Dutch, also had/have(?) their idea of what ideal Dutch is. I always get the remark from Dutch people that Flemish is cute. Whatever "cute" means. Sounds a bit patternal to me. And sometimes I get a bit irritated when Flemish and Dutch intellectuals gather for debates because the Dutch can't resist correcting the Flemish. Thus history flares up now and then.
When I read through your text, but I'm going to have to read it again more thoroughly (I find American history difficult to follow and memorise), I thought of how when people go back in time to understand the present, there is a question that often arises: why do people hang onto the past so much?
When the jews commemorate the Holocaust, some people ask the same question: "are they always going to hold (Germany/us/everyone/...) accountable for that?"
The same with slavery, the same with colonialism.
The word used is victimisation (Don't be a victim, make something of your life. Move on.)
Racism is another such controversial word. The person who feels discriminated might see a racist. The racist sees a self-victimiser, or if he's the worse of racists he might see something else. The circle is round.
Maya also mentioned the United States being a nation of Immigrants, except for the native Americans. How does she or you deal with criticism relating to victimisation?
Thanks for your time, feel free to answer any time.
When you say, "some people ask the same question", you are talking about white people. People who have internalized racism, from whom the institutionalized expression of racial dominance has spread across the world, into every nation and culture. You are talking about people who live white privilege unconsciously for the most part complaining about hearing about an issue that is still not over. Racism. it still exists. it is still killing people. it is beneath everything that is currently going on. It is still the cultural perspective that is raping the world. Gaia Sophia. The Black madonna and child, the First People of this planet.
While beginning formally in the US in the late 1700s, it is an expression of an older imperative that has been passed down in the attempt to obscure historical truths and to create a false history that passes as the mainstream even unto this day for most people, although that also is changing slowly.
It is a question based upon ignorance. About how the past is still with us, how it is still affecting the present. How it is not gone. How time is an illusion. How genetics are affected (epigenetics) by memory, how trauma is passed down through the generations.
It is a question that pisses black people and others off, frankly, coming from white people who, because of their privilege, don't have to experience the same types of lives, the same types of prejudiced experiences no matter where they are in this country and to different extents in other countries. It is a question that, when answered in the way that I'm answering you right now, pisses off other white people, who don't want to have or hear this discussion either and wish that we'd shut up about it.
I answered your questions in good faith. And honestly. I do prefer educated responses and I'm sorry not to be able to educate you about our history as it would take half a lifetime.
Racism is another such controversial word. The person who feels discriminated might see a racist. The racist sees a self-victimiser, or if he's the worse of racists he might see something else. The circle is round.
Maya also mentioned the United States being a nation of Immigrants, except for the native Americans. How does she or you deal with criticism relating to victimisation?
Thanks for your time, feel free to answer any time.
It is not controversial to those who experience it. It is controversial to those who engage in it. And who don't want to hear about it. Even in nations where there are what we in the West call minority populations in charge, Africa, S. America or Asia, you still find expressions of racism and white supremacy.
I deal with such criticism by telling those who come to me with those perspectives to educate themselves. Multidimensionally. To look at the reality in different areas of people interaction. To understand how hypocritical it is for victimisers to blame the victims for their situation. And to realize that they should see this failure to reason logically within themselves. If they don't see it, they have a glimpse then of the very boundaries of their own self-awareness, and also of the parameters of the greater issue, the depths to which they themselves are brainwashed by the supremacy complex within which they live and breath.
And to come back to me when they have alleviated their ignorance somewhat, so I don't have to laboriously type answers to questions that reveal the questioners lack of research or desire to truly know something.
I appreciate your prompt response. These things catch my attention because of parallels.
And now a new layer has arrived, the refugees. My sister works with refugees. Sometimes it's hard. She too sees parallels with those that came before.
The passion that speaks from your words makes me think all in paint again. Artistic expressions can be passionate like that. My canvas boards should be here any time now...
Here's a Dutch art project as a wake-up call to the way we deal with refugees. It's called Moving People.
Almost 60 million people are on the run, worldwide. That amounts to nearly 60 million individual stories. Stories nobody wants to hear. Worse still, stories of people nobody really wants to know about.We want to give these stories, these people, these refugees a human face. By telling their stories and opening eyes. Making connections and showing people a different way of looking at refugees. Encouraging empathy and strengthening social cohesion.
Which is why we are launching our guerrilla street art project Moving People. Be ready for thousands of miniature refugees appearing all over Amsterdam and The Hague. On park benches, at stations, at traffic lights, along the canals, in the zoo, in front of various ministries….they will pop up everywhere! Nowadays, they even appear all over Europe, in the USA, Canada and China.
Moving People is a street art project in which everybody can show commitment to refugees and let their voice be heard in a creative way. If you do happen to find one of the miniatures, you can take it with you and place it somewhere else. In this way you can contribute physically to the project by moving the miniatures around the city. Let other people be moved by their stories too!
The man, Tourad, on which this miniature was based appeared in a news interview earlier this week. And some other miniatures too, came to life. The way these people's faces lit up, because people were listening to their story.
It's going to a be a weekend of pause and reflection for me.
A nice - and hopefully sunny - weekend to you all!
Each individual must come to terms somehow with what's wrong with the world.
Racism cannot be eliminated by force, and blacks, being underprivileged, can't ever convince a racist of his wrongdoing.
Racism can only be eradicated from the top down, by the _voluntary_ transformation of racists, by their voluntary acts of seeing their own programming and then immersing themselves in the black culture.
By reaching out, and opening their homes and socialize with whoever appears on the screen of their lives, regardless of race.
That way showing the world by example that staying stuck in their own materialistic privileged castles is no longer an option for them.
Legislation works only up to a point. There is too much force behind it, making matters worse in many cases.
I'm wondering if 'busing' worked ( taking school kids to neighborhoods of different race) as it might have been too forceful, too, and cause backlashes by not allowing for the process to happen naturally and voluntarily.
The two real causes of US racism today is a) the individual who is unaware of their racism, of the cultural programming that made them that way and b) the satanic white elite, who control the media and who allow private prisons for profit, and portrait blacks as good for sports and music as best and as untrustworthy at worst.
Only spiritual awakening to our common roots (Africa) as well as our common destiny (death) will bring about change, and that should never be forced.
I agree with Violet about the role of art, although even the art world can be infiltrated and misused by those with racist agendas, too.
Community potluck gatherings is one method that works. Then slowly those from the two extreme camps (of either side) might discover that they are missing out.
Rahkyt, you probably weren't around last year when I closed my Barbados apartment. Now, when I go, which won't be as often as in the past, I'll be staying with friends. I live in the mountain village of Orosi, Costa Rica.
You are welcome.
Thank you Ulli!!!!
Costa Rica remains on the extended *must visit* list!
It will be good to spend some time with a good friend and see this country that everyone I know who has visited, has loved.
Initially I planned to do an infinity pool, but since we'd have to heat it, and they nearly all develop leaks, we decided to just stick with an outdoor hot tub...financial reasons. If I need a good swim I can go to to either Atlantic or Pacific coast...just a few hours drive.
But there are also nearby pools...some even with thermal waters.
Woo hoo! I'm down with natural bodies of water.
It could not have happened that way because it was institutionalized racism (https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/wonk/wp/2016/04/28/we-cant-forget-how-racist-institutions-shaped-homeownership-in-america/) that caused the patterns that we see today. Resegregation (https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/education/wp/2016/02/09/in-an-age-of-resegregation-these-schools-are-trying-to-balance-poor-and-wealthy-kids/) is the order of the day.
And this is how and why living on military reservations was so awesome. You're in base housing and have no choice in who your neighbors are. So, you're kinda forced into integration. Overt shows of racism were punished under the Uniform Code of Military Justice (UCMJ). In the Air Force, squadrons would have picnics, ceremonies, and everybody comes together. In the Army, Companies would do the same. For enlisted and officers coming into the military with their "real world" experiences, they bring those with them. But for their children, the military brats like us, growing up in such an environment gave us the opportunity to experience true integration as a way of life. We were not missing out. It was our daily life experience. But for our parents, of course, that was the opportunity for them to see what they had been missing out on.
The 'fear', of course, when looking at potentials...is that the elite will accept Trump, to do their thing to help him win, and make it conditional on their selection of a running mate for vice president.
Then it would be JFK-LBJ all over again. Where they help Trump win, Trump 'catches a cold', and the vice becomes president and wreaks havoc like LBJ did.
Such a scenario is as obvious as the day is long, at least - for those who are paying attention.
Poor Jesse is beside himself. The Land Lady scooped up his partner, probably for a horse show or grooming. Jesse prances back and forth, back and forth while calling out for her. Each time a car comes by, his head snaps up to see if she's returned.
Here and now, well its a bit me, me, me, for me, is it not?
So I'm thinking to cease making sounds (talking etc) for a week or month and find out how that goes!
Why is a slightly different consideration. Best put in a musical time line I think! But this is not over a limited condition of a single verse, more an extended single point of perception!
We may see? Or I shall?
Real but short...three weeks + one day. Drats! But, signs are a-changin'.
Beginning April 6th, 2016, The Church of Scientology will no longer receive tax exemption in the United States. Attorneys for Scientology have 30 days to appeal the case, although it is not yet clear whether they will or not.
UPDATE 4/28/16: The Church of Scientology has regained their tax-exempt status within the United States. Contact your local Representative to complain and have it removed (http://www.house.gov/representatives/find/).
Starting with an empty page, well...canvas in this case.
I have some sketches of ideas, where I want to take this particular painting. Drawing was easier, quicker too, naturally. I don't often paint, I get into a dual relationship with the canvas. Like so:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BCU_A9lSQDs
The empty page didn't work for me. My black oil paint is little, the board large, the budget tight. I went to the construction store and got me a pot of black paint.
Perhaps a black page works better. We'll see from there.
The sudden death of Jonathan Cainer at 58 has come as a devastating blow to his millions of loyal fans who looked to his insightful horoscopes for daily guidance and inspiration. Days before his death, Jonathan prepared a special feature on a rare astronomical event unfolding this week — five planets appearing to orbit the Sun in reverse motion. And next Monday will see Mercury make a rare daytime transit across the face of the Sun — a once-in-a-decade event.
Right now, for the first time in ten years, five important objects in our solar system are retrograde at once. In a rare astronomical event, Jupiter, Saturn, Mars, Pluto and Mercury all appear to orbit the Sun in reverse motion.
