Went to Boston and NY city with Mini Flash and her Swiss-Portuguese bf.

The bf is such a nice, intelligent, funny and affectionate bf, I just wish it would go forever with my daughter. Those are hard to find.

But hey, they are 21 and 22, the odds of long term are not in their favor.

We also stop to eat with one of my best friend in NH.

So, everyone enjoyed the trip and the Americans, which was the target: undo false assumptions about Americans in that young European mind.

In Boston they visited MIT - him thinking of a potential Phd there, and Harvard, my daughter having a fancy of going to
Harvard - no way I could ever afford it, if she were admitted, which is doubtful as well. But she now talks of studying to have a degree, from someone who had the prognostic at an early age of not being able to finish high school or even primary education, because of heavy language handicap. This is just incredible, I am sooo proud of her.

Then we went to NY City. I was surprised by mostly kind behavior towards the tourists we were. Great time.

I currently know 6 nuthatches, 3 pairs. Each pair has their own territory and I visited them a few days a week. I've known Hatch the longest, going on 5 years. Then it's Patch, just over 3 years, Kiwi and Lentil, one year and Maggie and Dart getting close to a year! Nuthatches are the best little birds ever. Love them

Paula, that is truly lovely! I have been fortunate to travel extensively in the last two years and in some places they had those bird feeders, I sat and watched the birds life go by. They live and hone a couple of dimensions and their wider connection is evident via their ability to sing and produce in such high notes, they seem to know their relation to all that is around them and have a 'secret cooperation' with one another and other life forms in the eco-system - contributing their assistance with their calls - delivering some information : )

You are fortunate to know their song/calls/warning/chirping from so close as your own sided mirror bay in the kitchen. How awesome is that! In the last year I've been studying and expending on Animal and nature communication and spend some valuable time in the forest of the British Colombia and in the UK. I took some courses - which I found to have great value and got to have some acquaintance with wonderful people with nature sensitivity (that is us in our natural state) I hope to share more about that in another post and in the mean time please note that one of these pictures below 0311 is a special dedicated to you :hug: (though a little bit upside down, sorry about that, not sure how to straightened that)

This reminded me of how years back a blue heron slipped through into this plane. It was right outside my kitchen window. I rationalized that they are stealth and quick, but I stay open to the possibility that he was somewhere and then entered here.

I keep a log of animals, birds and insects and watch for patterns and themes. August had some unique examples. Yesterday, there was a grasshopper in my bedroom, on the 23rd, a cicada on the desk stair and on the 5th, I found this crayfish stranded in my driveway. The little guy was so over heated that the jar quickly steamed up from the little water I had added. There are a lot of water bodies around but the odds of him not getting run over were slim to none. His new residence is in a river across the way.

I am watching the livestream of the Paradigm Shift Summit in Australia this weekend.

I attended the first two Shift Summits in 2016 and 2017 and enjoyed meeting so many like-minded people—awakened souls who care about the future of the planet. The positive energy in that room was worth the price of admission. This year, I thought I’d try the Livestream version, but it didn’t work very well at my end.

I did manage to catch part of Anthony O’Flynn’s opening address to the audience. He is one of the organizers—a nice man who is both wise and funny.

One comment that caught my attention—and I’m paraphrasing—was that once the majority of people start to wake up and realize what has been going on in the world, there is going to be turmoil, projected anger, fear, frustration etc.

He also said that people like to argue with each other, especially on the Internet. This got a laugh from the audience. He added that it’s important to realize that we’re never going to agree on everything. We just have to look for ways in which we can agree because we’re all on the same team. There are no “others.” A mindful presence is important. We are not our thoughts; we are an essence.

Just before the Livestream cut out on me, he said that we need to hold the light—to be there for other people who don’t understand what’s happening. We need to hold the light for other people.

This resonated with me. It occurred to me that this forum—this wonderful community of awakened souls—is a great opportunity for us to practice before the “real turmoil” begins.

With coffee in hand, staring at screen, I ponder. I ponder the years of challenges, obstacles and growth. In reflecting on having been screwed, blued and tatooed over the years by others and in rebuilding my health something is happening. Forgive me, I cannot quite articulate it. I have knowledge, skills and experience - yes, but a sense of knowing grows. The rain is battering the window outside, the sky outside is grey, and I feel a sensation like a silent hairdryer on my head as I type. No sound. No voices. No images or "messages". Just a very light tapping. And no, not wind inside as I sit here at my kitchen table. No idea what it is, but as I type it continues. Emotion is building as I type. I want to cry but not for pain, loss or frustration. I am grateful. I continue to experience, learn and evolve. Right here, right now - I am becoming. What ? I ask. That remains to be experienced. I don't have answers or pretend to extol great wisdom, but I will continue to share and participate as I experience. And for that, I thank you.

This is very important, and a mostly un-noticed / un-talked about phenomenon.

My wife is a phone addict with a very powerful justification ("It's for business")...


Project Avalon and Reddit (somewhat Youtube as well) are the only "social media" I use and I know I'm an extremely light social media user... yet I still frequent 3 platforms in some social-media aspect, the addictive nature is VASTLY under-rated... I even notice it on PA or Youtube (I only lurk on reddit)where the compulsive desire to check feed back (thanks, likes, upvotes etc..) is prevalent; it's an incessant NEED to seek validation.

Validation over nothing, usually; which lessens the impact of the validation feed back loop for IMPORTANT things like accomplishing life goals etc..

I have gotten her to turn her phone on silent when we go to dinner a few times... so I'm chipping away ;).

I've taken to always having my phone on silent anymore... and the only thing I use it for other than text and calling is reading books via kindle app... not sure if I'm justifying, but I haven't checked it in 3ish hours so I think I'm doing ok at least.

I like what my brother and his wife do. They go out to dinner on Fridays, and the rule is twenty minutes to catch up on missed calls and then turn off the devices.

I have a very high feeding station in my garden with a ‘catch tray’ underneath, to prevent flying cats... The offending stripey feline (who frequently arrives with ‘feather-boa-claws’) sits chattering his ‘Hannibal Lecter’ sucky-sounds even whilst my pairs of Wood Pigeons, Ring-necked Doves, 25 Goldfinches, multitudinous sparrows, starlings, crows, robins et al feast on the hi-energy no-mess offerings in the metal Defender feeder. However.... little devil has a trigonometry-brain, and seems to have now perfected an acrobatic display never thought possible before. Snatching in mid-air is his speciality...
I have to resort to other diversionary tactics.....hmmmmm, meanwhile a pair of rubber gloves, some kitchen roll, and double dog-poo bags have to be utilised to remove any sad remains of the ‘unlucky ones’. :cat: :facepalm:

I spent the last several days updating my internet world because someone used my VISA to make a couple of purchases for video/gaming stuff. How it happened I couldn’t say because the card is wrapped in a protective sheath. I only use it when I’m filling up my gas tank. I’ve had the card for almost 30 years.

Between Visa, my internet shutting down for the last four-five days and the electricity kicking off three times, it’s been an eye-opening experience on how much ground I’ve lost in patience and going with the flow. Adaptability is one of my strengths; time for an upgrade in the creative process. Time to streamline aspects of my life.

Many folks are reporting emails again being messed up (accounts shut down) extra charges, and communications mess-ups.. The last time I filled my tank was over three weeks ago. The Visa guy suggested that someone hacked an online company.

The charges from several days ago were made on the same day at the same company for almost the same amount $38 (and change). They probably figured most wouldn't notice small amounts. As a preventive measure, I changed some ways I do business.

I did teach to an internet and cards security group of a bank a while a because contrarily to some poster on another thread who say they are what they are not, I am a real corporate trainer -

What they told me was that most card frauds happen at gaz stations, to never use a bank card there, but always credit card since the theft is cover and easily reverted back to the station, while a bank card theft takes a whole inquest before being reversed.

It is either that one of the clerk input a copying software into the paying machine, or that someone else (a customer or a mirror well directed) looked over your shoulder to have your code when you punched it. Afterward, they only need the copy of your card.

You can also be stolen from a distance machine picking up our card number from your purse or pocket.

anyhow, always check your credit card spending, it is where there is the greatest amount of fraud, gaz stations being the worst.

The whole thing was induced by the loud song of the cicadas outside (i had the window open)...
I was somehow drawn to the sound, which got louder and more intense as i focused on it...
couldn't discern if the sound was outside or inside anymore...
Remember wondering why no vibrations... but wait, it's said it can also be sound(s), so i went with it...

I got out thru the feet (felt like suction; thinking: What does one do now?)... and suddenly stood upright. Rather hovered...

Didn't look at my body at all, said instantly: No boundaries - i can pass through everything. Which i did, door and walls and ground without further notice (one ceiling wouldn't let me pass - an issue to be solved next time!).
First goal, the mirror. Result: Almost exactly same physical appearance.

The rest isn't really disclosable; only so much:
I forgot about my second intention and did sth completely different (thanks to sirdipswitch's main thread from a couple of yrs ago, which i just gave a bump)... "he's doing the superman thing"...

Can't recall re-entry; the whole thing kind of shifted into dreamland
(where i discussed mistakes, do's and dont's of next "exit" with myself, and asked myself frequently if "this is still it"),
half lucid, half not lucid - i.e. at times i was aware i could - and did - change things... e.g. i had entities chasing me explode [splatter!],
and destroyed large parts of a city (just by thinking, and just because not wanting to go to work :biggrin1:)

Is the situation the same over water? These lines are still there...

The background of this was the news reporting severe flooding at the Mallorcan east coast... got family there.

So, then i find these straight lines of rain echoes from the Spanish main land,
extending all the way to the balearic islands... pulsating, and stationary for hours...
on my local weather website (daily on it, for years now, and never seen anything like it);

to verify, i go to this other website i posted - and find the same sh!t, even more elaborate...

Hia Meeradas - I went back to the locations again, and this time pulled up an IR satellite view over Spain to show the cloud structures. There is what appears to be strong linear cloud patterns in the satellite imagery.

This type of phenomenon appears now and then with different weather systems, where ground clutter plus ducting from the atmosphere bends the radar signals to give a strong rain/weather area and in other areas nil as the radar is bent out of the way (no reflections come back). Where it ducts obviously is pretty darned interesting. I'm pretty sure its due to conditions happening with the radar being bent and ducted.

Might be useful to do a google-earth and see below the lines what ground structures are there, such as maybe mountains/valleys/hills.

I agree - the way the images are assembled over-water appears perplexing and counter-intuitive, no mountains there :) It would be worth investigating further how the images are assembled from their individual radar locations.

Although this image below is not in any way exactly explaining the radar "illumination rays", it does show how a point source (the radar beam analogy in other words) using the sun's point source output can be occluded by objects dense enough (the thermal/cold areas and warm areas of the sky and clouds) to refract and bend the energy.. Straight line "rays" show up.. It's impressive to see this stuff happening tho :)

PS - looking up the radars used in Spain, the one causing the anomaly over water is the Palma De Malorca radar; it's site called "ESPM - Illes Balears".

Notice the Coverage Map highlight. The lines show up as fan shaped wedges within the radar's coverage.

Good question on 'how long' - is the weather still present (look at the satellite imagery to determine that)..

I would think one would have to take a look at the historical records from the radar over time to see how long something like this goes on for. If there are clouds and "weather", and other radars operating and/or if there are physical ground features in the way of the radar beam (like what's the radome look like, is there a building nearby which could splash back some of the beam, and so forth).. all that could be reasons for "fixed" holes or potential anomalies to show up WHEN there is water or ice in the sky. In other words, the anomalies are there all the time, but only show up when there is something additional for the radar to look at in the sky (i.e. "weather")...

Like passing a searchlight through a stand of trees into a fogbank.. If the trees (the anomalies) weren't there, the beam of light would evenly illuminate the fogbank.. We could see the fog then from the light (energy) reflected back at us (the receiver)..

But with trees in the way of the beam, we see, "holes" in the illumination image that comes back to us.. That is one way of looking at it. If the beam is bouncing up, or sideways and then back again, around something close to the transmitter, the pattern would be even more complex.. Thing is tho, one will only note it when the echo comes back from the water/ice..

I seem to recall weather fronts with inversions present (hot up top, cold down below) generate the most forms of ducting, and anomaly. Also a junction of multiple fronts coming together (high/low pressure ridges), wall clouds due to intense heating and cooling, roller waves coming off mountains and tall buildings... so many situations could open up anomalies.

Something that is continually present is how the maps are put together, such as the coverage area is generally "circular" with 75-150 miles radius from center.. Also potentially there may be a time difference when there is moisture on and within the radome that covers the radar dish. Also getting an indication of which radars are in the area operating simultaneously...

Pretty much way past my pay grade and time available to do such a search.. Possibly Nexrad and Doppler radar developers would have some information in their troubleshooting logs, as I have seen reports from the weathermen in general (being technically not radar hardware/software electronics experts)... that they don't have a technical clue.

I’ve had time to accept Foxie's failing health because she's kept us informed for the last year. I miss Lady Loxie and will miss her when it’s time for her to spread her wings.

I can't find the post but it was on the "Here and Now" thread when Foxie explained that her doctor diagnosed it as congestive heart failure. I could be wrong about the name, but it’s where her heart muscle has weakened. Shortly after, she posted a little bit about her condition on December 17, 2017. (post below)

A few months ago on the “Here and Now”, she said she’s not able to go to church, so someone from the parish she use to attend came by to take measurements of the space for a new washing machine.

Foxie has also told us that a dear friend calls her twice a week to make sure she’s okay. I’m comforted by that thought.

A few other things that help me know Foxie is not alone and is cared for:

1) Meals on Wheels comes each day.
2) There’s a neighbor who comes over to shovel snow, so my guess is the neighbor is in contact with her year round.
3) She has seven children though I don’t know how many live close by.
4) Foxie is appreciative that there are so many on the forum that care for her. Avalon has filled her to the brim.

While traveling into town with my son, yesterday, and listening to him passionately tell me about seeking equitable financial justice for the many months of collaborative music he is making, with no support from his fellow musicians.....I talked to him about Foxie and how much I appreciate her insights and openness, as well as the support she receives here on Avalon. It seemed a distraction to him until I told him about her and what I have learned from her sharing here.

She was obviously on my mind and even though he knows little beyond my appreciation for the humanity I find so vibrant and alive here in Avalon, especially with so much respectful challenging and prodding we do for each other, he knew that there existed for me a soulfull experience from this woman. I shared with my son how quickly Foxie seemed to grow into her awarenesses, though it all is the confirmation of the humanity and heart she always had in her.

It was easy to see and feel thru her sharing with us, just as others do here, the necessary balance between the passions we have and the need for conscious examination of the important choices we make.... A constant reminder to check into the infinite resources available to each of us when we Listen to our Hearts.


A reminder that there is no distance or time when a Heart is open, unfettered by all of the distractions that melt at the sight of a smile like hers, for the Heart that makes those smiles cannot be described, just enjoyed.

My darling daughter is practicing her song which she will present at her college.

She cannot even guess how much I like hearing her nice voice and her composition. How soothing and good it feels to me.

Also, she is now wanting to write something on discrimination towards the handicap people, how little we listen to them, and how it feels to be obliterated kind of. I do not know if she will write this book (language usage is her main handicap) but I know now she will go far in self accomplishment and most probably in helping others in a larger scale than most.

Gosh I will miss her when she leaves my home probably next September.

About 3 hours ago, a fire broke out at a camp ground some 10 miles (give or take) from Sierra's home in California. It's dry as a bone there, and the winds are blowing toward Sierra's home. The road out is blocked with stopped cars and so she is trying to figure a way out.

Very good that Sierra is out of danger now. I used to live in Felton, right there in the affected area of the Santa Cruz mountains, and Hwy 9 is only one of 2 highways through there which are quite far apart, just 2 lanes and very windy in parts, so it's no wonder the traffic has not been moving. Lots of beautiful old trees there and sweet little mountain towns. I sure hope they put the fire out soon.
update: The fire in the Felton area is a different one than the one that raged through Paradise, but that fast moving fire may still go as far as the Santa Cruz mountains, which is currently under a warning.

Our neighborhood is gone. We were right on the Butte Creek canyon with a view so pffft. Clothes on our backs, bag of meds, iphone and ipad. We abandoned the car, and then were picked up by two different drivers. Took 4 hours to go 18 miles on the one open road. I’m fine with the house gone but oh I weep for my Martha, who hid, and we could not find her.

The video of us heading down the mountain to Chico does not want to load. I was able to load it in skype.

Fire 18,000 acres now. Apparently the entire town is burning. How the fire got from the Pentz side canyon on the east side to the Butte Canyon on the west (Paradise is on a ridge between the teo canyons) is a mystery to me. The video shows where both fires on both sides closed in on Skyway, down to the curb. It got hot there.

It was SO good to finally drop below the tree line, out of the darkness and into the fresh air.

Our sweet sweet realtor called us, picked us up, and took us to her parents house. We have a private room, bath, and we’re with the kindest people.

I am so grateful.

Hello, Everyone: I have an update from Sierra. She'll post here later, and sends her love to you all. She checked in very briefly with the moderators, and I'll do my best below to relay how she is.

She took this short video, fleeing the scene in a truck. It's daytime, but literally as black as night.

Summary: she's fine, positive, strong and immensely thankful. She and her husband escaped with their lives, the clothes they were wearing, and with Pippin, one of their two cats. She thinks Martha must have died, hiding in a kitchen cupboard.

She's sure their house will have been destroyed, as was almost the entire town of Paradise. The scenes were apocalyptic. They're staying with kind friends, and have a bed, food, and transport. They already have money (cash in hand) from insurance, a rental car, and will have a hotel room Sunday or Monday. She reports extraordinary heroism, selflessness, and genuine sacrifice all around. It's been like a war.

Woolsey fire forces mass evacuations from Malibu to Calabasas; many homes lost


The Woolsey Fire made a destructive march through Ventura and Los Angeles counties on Friday, destroying numerous suburban homes, closing freeways and causing portions of cities from Calabasas and Thousand Oaks to Malibu to be evacuated.

The 8,000-acre fire jumped the 101 Freeway Friday morning and was making a march toward the Pacific Ocean, fueled by dry conditions and extreme winds. Its rapid movement overnight prompted thousands of people to run from their homes as the flames came close.

Firefighters spent the night and morning battling the fire by air and on the ground, in some cases preventing it from sweeping through neighborhoods. But fire officials say at least 20 homes did burn and perhaps more.

About 75,000 homes in Ventura and Los Angeles counties are under mandatory or voluntary evacuation orders, but with the situation rapidly changing, that number is expected to grow. There have been no fatalities or severe injuries despite several reports of people being trapped by the fire.

Ventura County fire officials said crews that had been working the Hill fire, which has scorched roughly 7,000 acres in the Santa Rosa Valley area, were redirected overnight to the Woolsey fire. Officials said they expect the Hill fire to burn to the ocean.

PARADISE — Five people died in vehicles while trying to escape the fast-moving Camp Fire, the Butte County Sheriff’s Office confirmed Friday morning.

The five people were discovered in vehicles in the area of Edgewood Lane, near Pentz Road.

If we really want to understand what Sierra and the whole West Coast are dealing with now and for the forseeable future, this is the video to watch, imho.
Also keeping in mind that the West Coast produces a big percentage of the produce that supplies the whole rest of the US and other areas besides.
Drought, fires, floods, earthquakes, volcanoes all can take a toll and if highways and bridges are affected by the increasing number of disturbances, shipping can certainly be affected as well.
This is not something that can safely be ignored, and Avalon should be aware.

Deep sighhh - death toll now up to 42 confirmed around the Paradise area.. over 250 still missing..

As was pointed out in the http://projectavalon.net/forum4/showthread.php?103940-The-strangeness-of-the-California-Fires&p=1259230&viewfull=1#post1259230 thread, there have been fire-tornadoes being reported in the Camp-Road-Wildfire which destroyed Paradise where Sierra and her family lived. It was pointed out to the disbelief of some that I felt fire-tornadoes have been responsible for the odd burning of melted vehicles in the burn area and still some green trees standing seemingly untouched. It is just a fact of how tornadoes move.

The fire isn't expected to be contained until the end of November, and has and continues to expand.

The Malibu fire update - the Sheriff has said, no volunteers (such as residents) who are NOT officials will be allowed into the area affected or to be affected by the fire, no matter what their skill level is - (paraphrased).. The ONLY ones to access that area will be the officials, the official fire-fighters (and rescue), the film crews that have been authorized by official pass, nobody else.

Sheriff Kory Honea said the list was dynamic and could easily contain duplicate names and unreliable spellings of names.

(No DEW) - Firefighters were gaining ground against the blaze, which blackened 222 square miles (575 square kilometers). It was 45 percent contained and posed no immediate threat to populated areas. Crews managed to stop it from spreading toward Oroville, population 19,000.

This patch of California, a former Gold Rush region in the Sierra Nevada foothills, is to some extent Trump country, with Trump beating Hillary Clinton in Butte County by 4 percentage points in 2016.

what a year. no, seriously, many people close to me have faced unbelievable personal, financial and commerical challenges this year. The most confident I know have been brought to their knees this year and had some REAL reality checks. Me? I lost my sight waking up in a hotel room in May this year, and have had overcome a phobia of needles to receive injections in my one eye. (I lost my left eye in a shooting accident age 15), but here, right now - I LOVE THIS FORUM.....

...there's the weird, the wacky, the out there and also the REAL AUTHENTIC EXPERIENCES of many, who have been round the houses, and many who do not suffer fools gladly, many who are somewhat discerning and can smell the BS and see through the veneer of spotlight hungry supposed whistleblowers.

I feel for those in California, I feel for those who have suffered loss this year be it financial, emotional or otherwise. Some folks are dreading the rains as it will make it difficult to work in the mud, and ash. Local reporters are saying now "mother nature" is not cooperating ! So are they saying let it burn? There is a key complication in all this of which I find myself having to frequently remind myself:

The tasks of hammering nails, climbing rocky cliffs and flying airplanes have a certain inescapable connection with reality ... if you aren't up to performing the tasks competently, it hurts ... or worse.

But the tasks we often set for ourselves on a forum like this are far more convoluted, complex and controversial ... and cloudy. Large groups of the best experts available can spend generations hopelessly lost in a cul de sac, never suspecting that the earth is not flat, and that's one of the easier tasks. What about the question of how to best organize the common political, social, and economic concerns of seven billion, and growing, people?

One type of mind control involves defeating logic as a method of thinking.

Modern formulations of basic logic begin with the statement: You can’t have A and not-A. Which is a way of saying contradictions are unacceptable.

So it’s no surprise that mind control attempts to introduce contradictions into rational processes.

You see this in propaganda.

For example: People who are vaccinated are in danger from those who are unvaccinated. (“Keep your unvaccinated child away from my vaccinated child.”)

There is a concealed contradiction here. You can see it by merely defining (according to conventional terms) the meaning of “vaccinated.”

It means “immune,” “protected from contracting the disease targeted by the vaccine.”

But if the vaccinated person is protected and immune, then coming into contact with an unvaccinated person will bring no danger.

Therefore, the notion that vaccinated people are A) protected but not-A) in danger is absurd, a contradiction.

The easiest way to defeat logic is through deficient education. Never teach logic. Ignore it. Instead, teach specific values. Teach anything except logic. Don’t teach children how to spot contradictions.

Logic is a significant problem for people who want a closed and unfree society. Teaching logic tends to produce sharp and independent minds.

Here is another example of non-logic: A ballot initiative passed by the voters of Maui County is illegal, because it set up a new law regarding commercial agriculture, when in fact commercial agriculture is regulated by state and federal laws, which trump county laws.

There are several ways of attacking this proposition, but the most basic way is:

The ballot initiative was not aimed at commercial agriculture (https://jonrappoport.wordpress.com/2014/11/05/election-bang-maui-bans-gmo-crops/). It called for a moratorium on all Monsanto/Dow experiments using non-commercial GMOs.

In what has become a federal court case, the judge and the lawyers for Dow/Monsanto are proceeding from a false basic premise.

Of course, the failure in this case is a willful ignoring of the facts. The argument is: A is B. No it isn’t. A is A.

There are a number of arguments afloat these days which proceed this way:

“The science concerning ABC is settled.”

“’Settled’ means ‘true.’”

“Therefore the science concerning ABC is true.”

Science doesn’t operate according to what officially favored scientists claim. It doesn’t operate according to consensus at all. Even then, there is always room for reasoned dissent.

One type of mind control involves defeating logic as a method of thinking.

Modern formulations of basic logic begin with the statement: You can’t have A and not-A. Which is a way of saying contradictions are unacceptable.

So it’s no surprise that mind control attempts to introduce contradictions into rational processes.

You see this in propaganda.

For example: People who are vaccinated are in danger from those who are unvaccinated. (“Keep your unvaccinated child away from my vaccinated child.”)

There is a concealed contradiction here. You can see it by merely defining (according to conventional terms) the meaning of “vaccinated.”

It means “immune,” “protected from contracting the disease targeted by the vaccine.”

But if the vaccinated person is protected and immune, then coming into contact with an unvaccinated person will bring no danger.

Therefore, the notion that vaccinated people are A) protected but not-A) in danger is absurd, a contradiction.

The easiest way to defeat logic is through deficient education. Never teach logic. Ignore it. Instead, teach specific values. Teach anything except logic. Don’t teach children how to spot contradictions.

Logic is a significant problem for people who want a closed and unfree society. Teaching logic tends to produce sharp and independent minds.

Here is another example of non-logic: A ballot initiative passed by the voters of Maui County is illegal, because it set up a new law regarding commercial agriculture, when in fact commercial agriculture is regulated by state and federal laws, which trump county laws.

There are several ways of attacking this proposition, but the most basic way is:

The ballot initiative was not aimed at commercial agriculture (https://jonrappoport.wordpress.com/2014/11/05/election-bang-maui-bans-gmo-crops/). It called for a moratorium on all Monsanto/Dow experiments using non-commercial GMOs.

In what has become a federal court case, the judge and the lawyers for Dow/Monsanto are proceeding from a false basic premise.

Of course, the failure in this case is a willful ignoring of the facts. The argument is: A is B. No it isn’t. A is A.

There are a number of arguments afloat these days which proceed this way:

“The science concerning ABC is settled.”

“’Settled’ means ‘true.’”

“Therefore the science concerning ABC is true.”

Science doesn’t operate according to what officially favored scientists claim. It doesn’t operate according to consensus at all. It operates according to what is true and valid—and the best way to ascertain that is through the broadest possible analysis accomplished by a wide variety of independent researchers, who attempt to replicate prior experimental results.

Even then, there is always room for reasoned dissent.

This piece on logic reminds me of a recent NPR "news" story of an event in which nonsense or non-sequitur was used to make a point (invalid as the point is because it is illogical), that was yet another not so veiled assault on Trump, as well as on the natural right to bear arms as recognized in the Second Amendment.

The story being covered on this episode of NPR (which I rarely listen to but was stuck in traffic and wandered to the station) was the police shooting of a security officer at a restaurant or bar. I may be wrong, but I believe the event occurred in Chicago. It happened within the last 2 weeks or so.

The victim was black. The ethnicity of the officer who fired the fatal shot was not made clear or I missed it, but I believe the officer was white.

In short, a man brandishing a gun with nothing good on his mind went into the business establishment where the security officer worked. The man posed a clear and present danger to the patrons and employees. The security officer was armed with a handgun. The security officer sprang to action, pulled his weapon and at some point and in some manner restrained the would-be assailant and got him outside and on the ground. No one was injured inside the business.

Then the police show up. The security officer has the assailant on the ground with his gun on him. Reports are conflicting, some say the security officer had an insignia or something that identified him as security and that he announced to the police that he was security. Maybe so, maybe not so. I suspect he did. In any event, the police shot and killed the good guy. Truly sad to say the least.

So against this backdrop, last week NPR has an anti-gun and anti-this-or-that-activist on the program. The point NPR made prior to turning the microphone over to the activist is that guns are bad and kill people. In that context NPR raised doubts about about the merit of Trump's statement, since the recent shooting at the country western club in Southern California, that one way to avoid these mass killings in public places is to arm and train certain key people to act and to take down the perpetrators and thereby prevent or minimize the senseless slaughter of defenseless people.

Then, on this cue the activist says something to the effect that: "Trump forget to say that its OK to arm people, unless they're black." He then talks about gun control. NPR then cuts to an interview of the security officer's "partner" who is a woman, but apparently not married to the security officer. After listening to a few ridiculous questions designed to invoke tears and sobs from the partner and outrage by the listeners, I turned the station. (The partner was not present and thus could provide not facts as to what happened.)

So,what is the logical fallacy in this spin by NPR? There are probably several. But the one that hit me as I was listening is that: NPR wanted us to conclude that the idea of arming key people to prevent mass murder won't work. Yet, the very story NPR used demonstrated that it in fact arming qualified people can, does, and in this case did, prevent mass murder.

What the story was really about was another effort to get people to conclude that: 1) Trump is a racist (among other bad things), and 2) guns are bad. But, given the typical and regular NPR audience, NPR was preaching to the choir.

I'm beyond that point, now it's just nerve damage that is painful. the worst is an increase in blood pressure (guess what happens when you stand up, or hell even sit up in bed... haha) so I've been stuck in bed for the past couple of days... going to the bathroom is quite the ordeal in working through pain & realizing how useless pain management techniques are if you dont fully focus on them (breathing, mental avoidance etc...).

When my left wrist and a car battery had a close encounter, the car battery won, and the high current fried off enough flesh from my wrist that I could see my wrist bone, clean and unblemished. Fortunately no major tendons, nerves, arteries or veins were fried -- just skin and flesh and minor nerves and blood supply.

I put raw honey on it. It healed without incident over the next few weeks.

I can just barely see where I think the very slight scar remains, if I hold my wrist in the light the right way. The healing was as close to perfect as one could ask for.

ky watchers have a lot to look forward to in December, as yet another bright comet is due for a close — and perfectly safe — encounter with Earth, reports Space.

Just a few short days after the Geminid meteor shower peaks on December 13, star gazers will be treated to a special appearance by Comet 46P/Wirtanen — hailed as the brightest comet to light up the sky in 2018, according to Comet Watch.


First spotted 70 years ago from the Lick Observatory in California, Comet 46P passes by our planet once every 5.4 years. But this year’s flyby promises to be particularly memorable. Here’s why.

Four Reasons Not To Miss Comet 46P

Very close approach
The icy space rock will be making a very close approach to our planet in 2018, coming within 7.1 million miles (11.5 million kilometers) of Earth — or about 30 times the distance between Earth and the moon, notes EarthSky.

Judging by comet standards, this is a particularly close encounter. By comparison, Comet 21P/Giacobini-Zinner — which is about to make an important entrance on September 10, as the Inquisitr recently reported — will be passing at five times the distance, approaching at 36.4 million miles (58.6 million kilometers) of Earth.

In fact, this is the comet’s closest approach in a long while. The last time Comet 46P came close to Earth was in 2013, but that visit only brought it 564 million miles (907 million kilometers) from our planet.

This year’s close approach will occur on December 16, four days after the comet reaches perihelion, or the closest orbital point to the sun.

Brightest comet of the year
Another interesting thing about Comet 46P is that it is what astronomers call a hyperactive comet. Although relatively small, measuring just 0.7 miles (1.2 kilometers) in diameter, this comet will be unexpectedly bright when it swings by in December.

This is because “46P/Wirtanen belongs to a small family of comets that boast a higher level of activity than expected for their nucleus size,” explains Comet Watch. These comets “emit more water vapor than they should,” which makes them shine a lot brighter than other comets of the same size.

This year, Comet 46P is expected to reach a visual magnitude of 3 — the highest in its entire history.

“This is the brightest prediction of known and future passes of this comet. This is also currently the brightest prediction for all comet passes in 2018,” states Comet ch.

In any given year, Comet 46P is usually spotted only with the help of telescopes or binoculars. This year, however, star gazers should be able to catch a glimpse of the comet with the unaided eye.

Thanks to its brightness and close proximity to our planet, there’s a good chance that Comet 46P will be visible to the naked eye on the day of its closest approach to Earth.

As FiOS 1 News meteorologist Joe Rao points out, Comet 46P will become “about as bright as the faintest star in the Big Dipper,” an asterism in the Ursa Major constellation (the “Big Bear”).

“So, if you know where to look in the sky, it will be against the winter constellations of Taurus (‘The Bull’), near the Pleiades and Hyades star clusters,” says Rao.

Great Observation Conditions
Aside from being a very close comet encounter of possible naked-eye brightness, December’s event is also expected to offer excellent viewing conditions everywhere on the globe.

According to astronomers at the University of Maryland, Comet 46P will be visible to sky watchers both in the Northern and the Southern Hemisphere and will shine in the sky almost the entire night.

The comet will remain visible for many hours long after December 16, although its glow is bound to fade the farther away it gets from Earth. By February 3, 2019, its brightness will decrease to a magnitude of 8, according to the Comet Watch video.
