View Full Version : Earth Shifting.....?

Hello Everyone,
I have noticed in the last few months that my doors don't fit quite like they used to.
They get stuck and don't open easily. I have to tug them. Never a problem before.
My only explanation is that the earth is shifting somewhat and is affecting the foundations of my house.
Anyone else around my area (northern NSW, Australia), had similar experiences?
Or anyone else at all, in any part of the world?
I know this sounds like an inane post, but I can only think that there is an earth shift below us, as we all know. And this is the physical manifestation of it, up close and personal!
Any feedback would be interesting,
Cheers to all,

Hi Lily,
My house has cracks that open and close depending on how much rain we have had. We are on clay soil so it is not unusual here. This also causes problems with my doors and I have one door that I can't close anymore :D I am also in NSW.
That could be what is happening where you are as well :noidea:

Hi, I live on the mid north coast and I haven't noticed this. But I remember that back in montreal (where I'm originally from) there was a house that collapsed due to the foundation being messed with by incompetent builders and that is what they said they noticed in the lead-up.
Also heat expands things...but it has been winter here so that is not an explanation.
Stay safe!

The earth could be shifting, or you could have roots playing havoc with your foundation. Do you have any big trees close to your house?
Cheers,
Fred

Thanks antelucem, have not had any rain here of late. We have that really deep coloured, red soil here (you could grow babies in it). So can't blame any rain.
Cheers,

Hi Fred S.
Yes, I do have a rather large hedge next to my property. Could be the culprit. Plus it has been unusually hot today, we are just in Spring here in Oz. But that doesn't explain the doors in the last couple of months.

There's an outside door that I have to toatally rehahang every couple of years because of roots. That job is ovrerdue now as a matter of fact. There are many distortions in our house because of this: Crooked windows, walls that dip or rise where they meet the ceiling, mis-shapen door frames, etc. If you want to see if the tree or hedge is the culprit, dig a 2' deep trench along the side of the house where the tree or hedge is, and see if you uncover some gremlin roots. If you do find em, cut em out...
Cheers,
Fred

The outer crust of the Earth itself is shifting, according to several sources and will continue to shift until early 2014. Although I don't know if this is the cause of your door problem, Lily. We have seen pictures of the huge fissures in the Earth in Africa that cover the length of a few football fields. I have also seen pictures of Earth fissures in the state of Michigan. Some of the sink holes around the world are caused from this shifting. And, as I simply drive down the streets in the city where I live, I have been noticing long vertical cracks in ALL the roads that were never there in years past. Something very basic is happening to the Earth.

I live in an old wooden Queenslander and this type of thing happens every year...
Nothing to worry yourself about Lily...

I remember reading about an article that said there was fissures in africa that meant to be the beginnings of a new ocean/sea... did a little googling and found this link (http://www.foxnews.com/scitech/2009/11/03/giant-crack-africa-new-ocean/) although I have to agree that I think it will happen sooner then is reported

Hey Lilly it could be just moisture. I have the same problem with the wooden doors in my house. when the humidity level in the air is high the wood sucks moisture in and the wood expands accordingly wich make the doors jam. i guess its because of the weather and season. it will correct itself when its dryer.

That's what's been happening here at my apartment, too! The doors either aren't staying shut or they won't open and close right. The front porch is coming away from the wall, too.... I think that the Earth is shaking all the time even if we don't feel it....
But also, my building is pretty old.... No trees nearby, though....
Last year everything was okay, though...
