I remember being asked this while in a contemplative state and so began the next leg in my journey.
breaking down the understanding behind the saying "False Idol" brought me to the understanding that an idol was another word for "form" or any thing with a shadow could be called a form. that would mean everything in the univers etc... is a shadow, form, and perhaps false.
so then the opposite of shadow is ....... light? if so what kind of light, the light of a fire, or the sun ...??? the light described in OBE's ...???
i remember reading a book called "the dissapearance of the universe" . the author wakes up one morning seeing pillars of light cast in shadow and he askes the ether "what does this mean" and he's answered "this in your perception of the light"
so .... what is this light that we rarely see with our bodys eyes but with the minds eye? kida makes you wonder if your a mind or a body, and if i am a mind,... then what am i?

You already have your answer...light of perception! You are pure perception. You came, you saw, you laughed...you kept on laughing!

Shadow and Light balance each other. Neither is all evil. There is evil in Shadow and there is evil in Light.
Many people feel that doing anything in Shadow is bad. It isn't. Shadow is where most healing takes place. Shadow is where the hardest soul lessons are learned. There is great value in having the ability to "see" in Shadow. Shadow terrifies most Humans because of the stigma placed on it as an inherently evil or bad place. It is dark, but if you are able to not use your eyes to work there you can see as clear as if you are in light. All true healers must have the ability to do work in Shadow because that is where much of those that need help will be found.
People that say they are only working in Light as quite unbalanced because they do not understand the nature of the balance between Light and Shadow. Healers must be able to go where the soul they need to help is at the time. We try to walk a line that is equally between Shadow and Light to stay balanced. Sometimes we stray into Shadow and sometimes we stray into Light...such is the nature of one's life path.
You have both a physical body and a soul. Your mind/ego lies in your physical body. Your heart/compassion lies in your soul. The soul is infinite. Therefore, the light you see with your soul is infinite. The light you see with your physical body (mind/ego) ceases when your physical body ceases to exist and you move from the physical to the soul.

Great post, great questions, great responses. My contribution is to highlight the fact that all material creation is in essence a shadow. Just like the action and manifestation of anything at all is a shadow of the original intention, conception and thought. What is most real is that which lies beyond. Beyond what? Beyond the mortal veil, beyond the rule of Cosmos, beyond materialism. Beyond light, beyond darkness. Beyond duality. Words can be barriers when speaking of such things, and I've been told by those who speak poly-tonal languages (African or Asian) that the mono-tonal family of the Indo-European language group that is comprised of the languages we all speak here are generally inadequate to the expression of most things in great detail, an example being the number of different words used to denote the same meaning with slight variations, like the many words for types of snow in Inuit, or spirit in some African languages.
In my experience, once you go beyond the duality and witness for Self what lies beyond, the limitation of language, upon your return, necessitates the utilization of old and sometimes trite colloquialisms such as those employed in spiritual discussions of duality ... and yet, they are inadequate in the expression of the sheer incomprehensibility of the Divine. But, I suppose, these things Must Be. In the End and, simply put, we are Divine. We are Infinite, we are Eternal. All else is further elucidation of these fundamental Truths, attempts to apply form to what is, inherently, formless.
