Not wishing to cause undue panic or fear ... but remember the Canary Islands are where some have speculated about a large tsunami as randles points out ...

Worries of Mega-Tsunami ! 720 Earthquakes On El Hierro In One Week

“An unprecedented 720 earthquakes have been recorded on El Hierro, the smallest of the Canary Islands, during the past week,” says this article by Mark Dunphy.

Described as a “significant increase in seismic activity,” the earthquake swarm has prompted the Canary Islands Government to convene the first ever meeting of the Steering Committee and Volcanic Monitoring.

The National Geographic Institute (IGN) and Volcanological Institute of the Canary Islands is continuing to record scores of earthquakes, measuring between 1 and 3 on the Richter Scale, each day. The majority of earthquakes are being recorded at a depth of between 5km and 15 km.

There is no indication at present that the low magnitude seismic activity is a precursor to any significant volcanic activity or, indeed, stronger earthquake activity. El Hierro is currently the most volcanically active of the Canary Islands. According to ElHierro.com,“El Hierro has the largest number of volcanoes in the Canaries with over 500 open sky cones, another 300 covered by the most recent outflows, and some 70 caves and volcanic galleries. Since the Spanish occupation, there have been seven eruptions. More than 200 years have elapsed since the last eruption.

The island of El Hierro emerged from the ocean after three successive volcanic eruptions and consequent accumulations, crowned by a volcano more than 2,000 metres high.

During seismic tremors some 50,000 years ago, a giant piece of the island cracked off, crashed into the ocean and caused a giant tsunami that most likely rose more than 330 feet (100 m) high and probably reached as far as the American coast.

About a half a million years ago, the volcano, Taburiente, collapsed with a giant landslide.

In a BBC Horizon program broadcast on 12 Oct 2000, geologists hypothesised that a during a future eruption a similar landslide could potentially generate a “megatsunami” some 2000-3000 ft (650–900 m) high in the region of the islands.

The huge wave would radiate out across the Atlantic and inundate the eastern seaboard of North America including the American, Caribbean and northern coasts of South America a mere six to eight hours later.

According to modeling estimates, the tsunami’s waves could possibly reach 160 ft (49 m) or more high and, depending on topography, could extend up to 16 miles (25 km) inland, causing massive devastation along the coastlines.

I have just been to read your original thread.

This made me cry

You know something ?? I am at a place here in my life where I am at peace with myself. My children are happy and enjoy their lives. If it is Mother Nature working her magic...then whatever will be..WILL be. And there is nothing that You or I can do about it. If it is manmade, then I hope that God does NOT take pity on them. Regardless of each of our Geographical locations we will all be affected. Some more than others. I do not fear it, what is the point.. I am grateful for each and every day here on this Earth and If and When something happens, I will continue to walk barefoot on the sand from time to time, stare up at the beautiful Chemtrail free skies, and stare at the mountains in compete awe of how beautiful Mother Nature really is :)
I ask for no more than any other, smiles, love and happiness and the hope that one day we all live in a better world.

As for the moon, a member of staff today who usually does not know what day of the week it is, said that he woke up at 6.30 am this morning and just sat and looked at the Moon, he said that he had never noticed how big and bright it was before,,..My thought ?? Enjoy it while it lasts !! :)

Today,...Today,...my tears fall. My daughter is currently behind her school desk in the Mountain taking a Mathematic exam, and I am at work, 100 metres from the open sea.
Time is moving so very slowly. My daughter has instructions what to write on anything that is left standing in thick black marker pen showing a directional arrow so that I might find here...
Its just the tick tock tick tock :)

I am an islander too and one of my daughters is on the other side of the island each day in school.
A couple of days ago I had to think about the famous La Palma predictions and simulation. A tsunami from
across the ocean would hit that part of the island first. The necessity to make some pre arrangements crossed
my mind. But we would have a couple of hours preparation time so I should not worry.

So, I can imagine how you must feel. But also remember you are the awake and aware. People will need you.
Sometimes there is only a subtle difference needed for survival. I feel you can provide that difference.
So please know that you are probably there for a reason. Do not fear and stay focused. Keep your intention on
staying safe ... You will have a lot of supporters here to aid you with mental strength !! :grouphug:

This week has been a very 'strange' week here. I have had tourists walking into my shop and just bursting into tears.1..a young couple late 20's..as I was booking their excursion he suddenly burst into tears and said that his dream had been to be a boxer, but due to a car accident and subsequent surgery he was not allowed to box anymore...
2..,a young girl turned up / early 20's / she was looking at publiity boards, I walked out of the shop and asked her if I could help her....she burst into tears and threw her arms around me telling me that her boyfriend was an alcoholic and was abusing her....
3...a man / possibly early 50's / came in yesterday and showed me his hands. He told me that he had had an accident years ago and could no longer work anymore and that he cannot cope psychologically.

Strange times...the vibrations are changing and I personally believe that people are awakening too late/all at once and cannot control their sadness, interestingly though....they were ALL Tourists...

Like you living on an Island, always brings uncertainty... MAINLY BECAUSE..we are uncertain as to when the next power failure will be and do we have enough candles...how hot is it going to be...and can we afford to run the air con unit :)
But now...times are achanging...as they say...GO WITH THE FLOW ...I learned a long time ago NOT to swim against the tide...and if we EXPECT the UNEXPECTED....we can NEVER be surprised !!

You WILL have warning.,..a couple of hours...WE HAVE.....leaflets...that advise that we carry ID, medication, and a radio with batteries to listen to the emergency services,,,, THERE WILL BE NO ALARMS SOUNDING..NO SIRENS BLARING... just a rumble and then WE SUCK IT UP !! :)

Much love to you and your family, friends, neighbours during this trying time!!! As a pet owner I can't imagine what you are feeling with the possibility of having to leave your dog behind. I would be devasted.

I too have been observing the bizarre behaviour of sea life, earthquakes, volcanoes and humans for many months now. We are all feeling the effects. This is not normal!

Let this be a wakeup call to all those still denying what is going on. Randles you are fortunate to have this warning....I pray it serves you well!!!

The Island of La Palma is still a concern...should the volcano Cumbre Vieje collapse (there are 500 volcanos on El Hierro)...there is a problem with the 'weight of water'..local geologists are concerned about the ripple of water that would naturally cross the ocean slamming into the side of La Palma, which as we all know dropped almost 2 metres.. I hope for an underwater eruption at worst, I hope that there is no chain reaction with the conncting lava tubes... Here on my Island there were concerns for Mount Teide (which was and still IS referred to as the Regeneration of Teide), back in 2004 we were geting 4+ every now and again. Vulcanologists came, measured the sulphur levels, the background heat and shortly after the park was declared as being triumphantly accepted within the arms of the 'World Heritage'...this stopped walking to the summit and other wanderings in and around the National Park. Parque Las Canadas.., the tremors stopped and the forest fires began..Of course, there are earthquakes off shore since then,...but NOTHING has shocked the Islands as much as El Hierro,,
The canarian people are less concerned about El Hierro than they are the chain reaction. Our closest shore is the West coast of Africa, or just a little south, the Cape Verde Islands.

We all know, more or less, that for Every Action,...there is a Reaction..
To calm down Mother Earth may ripple backwards..
Is she suffering growing pains >>>???
Is she simply trying to shake the 'fleas and ticks off her back' like a mal/mistreated animal would...???

I have been reading your posts today and I also want to say that the light, love and positive energy you put out is what we all need to stay focused on. The messages you relay bring in positive enery. The video is beautiful and so true - it is a wonderful world!

I think the most important message is that no matter what "they" try to do to us, or to this world, it is our love for ourselves, for others, and for this beautiful world that "they" can never take away. That love is what binds us all and what will defeat "them" in the end.

Yes, they are, and have been.

Here’s my $.02 worth – distilled from various comments on other threads. I’ll make it brief and succinct, simply as a statement of my private thoughts and opinions at the moment.

1) I have a great deal of attention on something that beat me over the head very strongly (metaphorically!) telling me to get out of California after Kerry’s conference before the beginning of October. Others have received the same ‘message’. I have no hard data at all and do not know what this is about.

But I did rebook my flight and cancel my seminar in Portland in mid-October. (There were other reasons for this, though: the ‘warning’ was not the only factor.)

2) The hype about Elenin is just hype – and a distraction. It’s simply a small comet and may well have disintegrated by now. It was always way too tiny and lightweight to have any conceivable effect on Planet Earth.

It is/was a couple of miles across at the most, and was over 20 million miles away at the closest. That’s like saying that you’re worried that your car would be run off the road by a tiny fly minding its own business seven miles away. (I just did the math!)

I feel the hype may be deliberate, and many people may have fallen for it. The entire alternative media has gone nuts about this cute but otherwise very insignificant comet. The magician on stage always distracts the audience to the left when he’s quietly making something ‘magical’ happen to the right.

3) My attention always goes to where it’s needed. I ask myself questions, and then the answers usually come a few days later. That happened a few days ago regarding the financial meltdown to come next year (I have data which I'll post in a separate thread later). And similarly for the solar problems in 2013 which may effect the power grid and all long-distance communications.

In the same way, my attention went straight to El Hierro this morning, and has stayed there all day.

4) What I’ve done here (and have also often done in the past) is alert some folks who have are pretty good at wiggling their noses and fixing situations behind the scenes. I’ll say no more about this, except that they have an excellent track record at staving off or ameliorating potential imminent problems. (They're not the only ones doing this, of course.)

5) In the meantime: it’s very important to avoid the fear drama. We can easily attract that which we fear. So a balance is always needed.

Earthquake swarms are not uncommon, and like a sleeping giant stirring, Mother Earth often goes back to sleep again -- but not always, of course. And we do not know whether the Powers that Be, using HAARP and other classified technologies, are giving the sleeping giant a sharp poke or two for reasons of their own.

Positivity can be 'switched on' in all of us...it is like happiness...it rubs off. Fact !! Its infectious. I find it very easy to detatch myself from what is happening, as I cannot afford the luxury of being distracted. I am trying to stay centred and focused. If all of the people that read this thread ask themselves the same question...? How is it possible that I do not know this ??? then my job here is done. Maybe that is what I was put here for. Maybe, just maybe if each person passes it on, it will encourage other people to switch off their televisions and 'choose' to question, and look, and dig, and poke until ...the Truth will set you free. A month or so ago, I was involved in a channeling session at which time a question was asked about the stability or instability of the Canary Islands. Some people will accept this type of information and others readily reject it. This information came from an off-Earth being. We were told that from their perspective, the Canary Islands would not experience catastrophe within our own Earthly lifetimes.

I have lived in places in the past where the Earth rumbled under my feet quite often and the buildings in which I lived and worked swayed to and fro. I lived very near to a major fault line. It is not fun. I was able to move and did and now live in an area where I feel tiny movement under my feet. I'd rather have tiny.

Although Randles, I would definitely not unpack the bug out bags, what is happening may be Gaea resettling herself.

I have good news for you. I've read where the tremmors are actually starting to subside. Further, take light, according to scientists, there is only a 10% chance of a volcano erruption. Not perfect news but really, really good news, comparatively speaking. If the volcano does erupt, that might be good because it would relieve the stress at the site. Is there a place to go where you will be safe, should the volcano decide to take that small % and run with it?

If you feel like you need to leave, along with your daughter, you must go. There will be people waiting to take you in, and protect you on the main land but they won't get that chance to do something for you, if you don't let them.

Mother Earth surely goes through an enormous transition. So maybe a great number of small quakes should be appreciated, for movement is to be expected and it's much better to live through many smaller ones than through a few giant quakes, I guess.

Let's all stay balanced to assist during this transition and make it as smooth as possible.

This activity doesn't seem to be tectonic (fault system generating EQs) but rather volcanic... no idea if the thing is gona erupt or quiet down and go back to sleep?

However, if not already done, I would add gas masks and particle filter masks to your bug out bags... Iceland recent eruption as an example.

My feeling right now is there will be no "mega" disaster but clearly those in the immediate area need to stay nimble.

I don't think it is necessary for an organized group meditation. We can certainly all continue to do what we can to help and heal in our own way.

Good Morning Calz...
My Islands are not 'developed'...let me explain..
In the 1970's these Islands were dragged, quite literally into Tourism Heaven. The MattBrinx Gold Bullion Bank Robber built Resorts and 'Timeshare' was born here. Hotels were thrown up quicker than bloodline landowners could dimantle their banana plantations and offer their land to be built on, with a few goats thrown in for good measure. Resorts multiplied at a rapid rate of knots and the original ownership of land was distributed accordingly, whilst the said occupancy levels in Hotels was tied up in contracts with Tour Operators. The 80's and 90's were good to these Islands. The Canarians were enjoying the 'ride' of the Tourism wave that swept the Islands, Corruption was King and the Alcalde's had the last say.
To Join the Policia Local,,,you need to be able to run (at an adequate pace) without getting out of breath whilst sitting a simple mathematics exam concluding that 2+2 really does =4. The Guardia Civil is split into two factions The New and the Old Pro Franco...(yes,,,it still exists), inbetween there is the Policia Nacional who are mainly policing the police for the Governing Bodies on the Mainland.
Other than Fresh Fruit, which is Organically grown here,,,,EVERYTHING else is imported...
And so....to ask a local 'official' as to where I can get a Gas Mask or other Filter Product would be like asking the Mayor of Arona if he would please dismiss one of his family from their long standing nepotistic positions and give ME a jobbie, which may or may not come with a mask :)

I'll try construction site suppliers and the likes... also paint suppliers and toxic fumes stuff like cars/auto body repair shops, boat builders / shipyards as well with the one building fiberglass + epoxy resin boats, etc...

By looking at the diagrams of the spread of the tremors it looks more like a bubble of magma is building up, so that a volcanic eruption might be first and could be followed by a collapse.

Of course, an eruption at El Hiero can trigger a collapse of Cumbre Viejo on the next island... sorry, but I am looking at worst case scenari here.

Still, we can hope the volcano breaks crust (without the west side falling into the ocean, as some scientists and simulations would suggest), and eases the tension. I can't think of anything better to concentrate on to allieviate the situation.

I am who I am, and can only approach this event as ME !! It took many years to find ME..and you know what ??? I LIKE ME ! I am a naturally smiley person, a giver with balance and enough love inside of ME that washes over any fears or anxieties I may have...
In essence...the Inner Child is in control.. She is charming, intelligent and knows exactly what to do..and no matter what will be..the Inner Child keeps taking that leap of faith day after day and is so much 'intune' with magnetic and dimensional changes around her that it is more comfortable to tune into the symphony rather than listen to the 'big band play'
And so,,, I wish for you, that if you are ever confronted or challenged by forces,,OUTSIDE of you...I wish that you find Your Inner Child on some level, this will help you to keep Smiling and Waving :)

ign.es is very slow updating ..the ticker tape there is showing quakes today 1.5 to 3 mag.
HOWEVER
Seismos El Hierro has racked up 79 today already..7593
...There is something missing here...maybe its the storm that is one its way that is causing ign.,es and Siesmos El Hierro to be out of sync with each other :)
If up until midnight last night to 5pm this afternoon there have been 79 registered , that is one almost every 11 minutes

1) I have a great deal of attention on something that beat me over the head very strongly (metaphorically!) telling me to get out of California after Kerry’s conference before the beginning of October. Others have received the same ‘message’. I have no hard data at all and do not know what this is about.

But I did rebook my flight and cancel my seminar in Portland in mid-October. (There were other reasons for this, though: the ‘warning’ was not the only factor.)

2) The hype about Elenin is just hype – and a distraction. It’s simply a small comet and may well have disintegrated by now. It was always way too tiny and lightweight to have any conceivable effect on Planet Earth.

It is/was a couple of miles across at the most, and was over 20 million miles away at the closest. That’s like saying that you’re worried that your car would be run off the road by a tiny fly minding its own business seven miles away. (I just did the math!)

I feel the hype may be deliberate, and many people may have fallen for it. The entire alternative media has gone nuts about this cute but otherwise very insignificant comet. The magician on stage always distracts the audience to the left when he’s quietly making something ‘magical’ happen to the right.

3) My attention always goes to where it’s needed. I ask myself questions, and then the answers usually come a few days later. That happened a few days ago regarding the financial meltdown to come next year (I have data which I'll post in a separate thread later). And similarly for the solar problems in 2013 which may effect the power grid and all long-distance communications.

Earthquake swarms are not uncommon, and like a sleeping giant stirring, Mother Earth often goes back to sleep again -- but not always, of course. And we do not know whether the Powers that Be, using HAARP and other classified technologies, are giving the sleeping giant a sharp poke or two for reasons of their own.

randles... I looked at the youtube vid with the funky clouds... so strange to see that right after I came in from outside... I was chilling out back in my teeny yard and just watching the clouds (which btw looked as if they were being whipped up in slo motion... very cool) and was noticing a rather curious upper layer of clouds that looked pretty much like those clouds on the youtube vid. Not sure what to make of it but it is what it is. I am hoping that things calm down soon there and the storms you are expecting blow over rather benignly...

oh and I saw something rather incredible as well... the sun was surrounded by a 'cloud rainbow' never saw anything like it before! I just wish I was able to get a picture before it was gone...

It's a wake-up call that has so far gone unheeded. Time after time we've been warned of these upcoming Earth changes and to follow our own hearts and intuition in these matters. If the husband of your heart is on the other side of the world in safety, why are you not with him? Why he is not with you and your daughter to convince you to leave? Do you stay to protect a beloved home or hearth that is more important than your life?

Like the Captain of the Titanic but with far less warning, are you to go down with your ship, the Canary Islands? Are you keeping that island afloat ~ this is always a distinct possibility. Is there a greater purpose to be there at this poignant point in Earth changes?

Is there something to prove like facing and overcoming your own fear? I'd like to understand better but need some clarification to be able to follow your actions. How many shakes from this volcano have been felt by now? Over 600...in this part of the world. Are we to sacrifice virgins still into the hungry mouths of volcanoes as in days long past? Are you waiting for Divine Intervention? If so, we should all concentrate on lessening the fierceness of the volcano in unity of purpose instead of the wailing and gnashing of teeth on Avalon. Just an idea.

Mother Earth is benevolent and she has given much warning to your area of the world. The question becomes this one: why are you still there? I love you and ask that Angels guide your way and clear all obstacles from your path.....to safety.

I must say that Darla's post is where I am on this, particularly where she says to remain open to how you CAN leave the island. Not today or tomorrow but in a matter of months. Also you have a child to consider. Think too that once the crisis is passed (18 months abt?) you can return, perhaps.

I am feeling that the time frame here is 5 (or 6) - 9 months and the danger level is 75% that a strong event could occur ie submerging the island(s) and that the 18-month mark will see the story played out.

As to how we can also help here to release the pressure on more than one location along this zone, a group meditation as suggested is also a good one. I'm in.

Sory if that's not all warm and fuzzy but this timeframe carries challenges. While calmness is key along with holding the positive view, discernment is very important imo. We must all be ready to move at a moment's notice which means that we should release our stuff and carry very little baggage day to day.

The Canary Islands: Riddles of Light and Stone

Whether they are the Isles of the Blest, Elysium, the Fortunate Isles or the surviving mountaintops of fabled Atlantis, the Canary Islands--an archipelago off the coast of northern Africa--remain enshrouded in mystery, a fact overlooked by its burgeoning tourist trade, more interested in the cloudless skies and fine beaches. The islands of Lanzarote, Fuerteventura, Gran Canaria, Tenerife, Palma, Gomera and Hierro, which have belonged to Spain since the archipelago's conquest by Norman mercenaries in the 14th century, were a point of interest to all the chroniclers of antiquity and medieval Christianity. The religious and occult significance of the seven volcanic isles has been handed down from the earliest dynasties of Ancient Egypt to our own UFO-minded times.

The association with an earthly paradise is not difficult to understand. A spectacular landscape awaited the mariners of yore: the twelve-thousand-foot peak of Mount Teide presiding over a cobalt-blue ocean festooned with flying fish. Flowers, chestnut trees and rich green valleys covered the seaward landscape, while the landward side (facing Africa) revealed nightmarish vistas of lava flows and beaches of black volcanic sand. The Canaries offer surprises galore, with trees unique to the islands; giant lizards--now nearly extinct--that gave the Spanish conquistadores quite a surprise; enormous ravines and canyons that become raging rivers during the wet season, and arid plains where camels are used to pull the plough. Contrary to popular belief, the islands were not christened after the bird of that name, but due to the abundance of local dogs (canes) encountered by the Conquistadores.

Who were the Guanches?

The Guanches, the original inhabitants of the Canary Islands, were a warlike race, according to chroniclers. Tradition claims that Saint Avitus, an early Christian martyr, met death at the hands of the Guanches during his attempt to evangelize the islands.[i] The Guanches possessed no weapons or boats--the latter being a very unusual feature for island dwellers--wore goatskins, and were subdued by the European invaders' use of the horse, which was unknown to them. Ignatius Donnelly pointed out in his groundbreaking book on Atlantis that stones had been uncovered in the isles of Hierro and Palma that bore sculptured symbols closely resembling those found in archaeological digs near Lake Superior, prompting an association between the enigmatic Guanches and the cultures of North America.[ii]

The tall, fair-skinned Guanches, believed by many to be the last surviving specimens of the Cro-Magnon Man, employed a curious language consisting of whistles when communicating with one another across gorges or hilltops. They also practiced the art of mummification to an extent known only to the Incas and the Egyptians, believing in the immortality of the dead, and going as far as leaving dead rulers mummified and unburied to provide "assistance" to the living monarch. They lived in complete isolation from the rest of the world, and indeed, from one island to the other.[iii] Spanish chroniclers state that the Guanches presumed that the rest of humankind had been lost in the Flood, and that they were its only survivors.

Certain cultural aspects found in the modern Canaries are believed to be part of the Guanche legacy: cockfights, the agricultural methods which were later imported to the Spanish Caribbean and even a culinary contribution, gofio, a form of cereal that is still consumed today.[iv]

Ancient Seafarers

The Canary Islands were known to the Carthaginians and to other sea-faring peoples of the Mediterranean. The Roman chronicler Marcellus, describing the "land of the Aethiopians" mentions a cluster of seven islands in the Atlantic Ocean, whose inhabitants preserve memories of a much greater island which held sway over them for ages; They are the seven Hesperides made famous in mythology by the labors of Hercules, and described in the Book of Ezekiel as the isles of Elysium (Ezek. 27,7). In the 1st century B.C., an unsuccessful bid to conquer the island was made by King Juba II of Mauretania.[v]

But all evidence points to signs of an earlier occupation by unknown quantities. On the isle of Hierro, there exists a wall of basalt facing the ocean, far above sea level which is carved with a number of undeciphered glyphs, among which are prominently displayed discs, labyrinth-symbols and sunbursts. The gorges of Tejeleite and Candia also contain rock shelters with petroglyphs presumably etched into the rough basalt by the aboriginal occupants of the archipelago. Elaborate cave systems--like that of Belmaco, on Palma--are filled with the same insistent petroglyphs and images of discs and sunbursts. The Zonzama Stone, unearthed on Lanzarote, provides more intricately carved symbols: messages from a past we unable reconstruct.[vi] Who were the original carvers of these symbols, and what was their purpose? It is true that the oceans were being navigated by Neolithic mariners whose voyages may have well inspired those of the Phoenicians or the Cretans. They left no traces of their existence aside from the "cyclopean" stone walls, tumuli, fortresses and memorials can be found on the coasts of the continents bordering the Mediterranean and the Atlantic coast of Europe as well as on the Canary Islands and Malta, and perhaps even as far south and inland as Zimbabwe. Two German scholars,

Hermann and Georg Schreiber, have pointed to the existence of a "heliolithic" cultural sphere (borrowing a term coined by H.G. Wells), owing to the fact that solar worship, personified by the disk symbols, is common to all these sites). The Canaries were important to them, following this line of thought, as an important center of solar worship. Or perhaps for other reasons...

A Wealth of UFO Sightings

Unexplained lights have soared above the volcanic peaks of the Canary Islands throughout history. Commercial airliners have been repeatedly intercepted over Lanzarote as they prepare to land on Gran Canary or Tenerife. Could these brilliant lights be the discs represented on the ancient Guanche stellae, and the reasons for the islands prominence not only in recorded history, but also in the days of lost Neolithic realms?

In 1975, coinciding with a global increase of UFO sightings, a group of contactees from Santa Cruz de Tenerife allegedly established contact (by means of an improvised Ouija board) with the occupants of the enormous flying craft which had hovered every night over their skies at La Tejita, a beach not far from the slopes of Mt. Teide. On one of these instances, the Canarian investigators were able to witness an enormous light some 1200 feet away from the beach. Double rows of windows emitting a purplish light could be made out through the use of binoculars. The spectators experienced a "missing time" interval during their sighting, and were assured later on by the light's "crew" that they had been brought aboard for an hour and a half.[vii]

A year later, a driver on a lonely stretch of road saw a perfectly round orb, silhouetted in a bluish light, which flew over his car at low altitude, causing the engine to stall. The witness was able to see two tall humanoids in attired in red garments through an aperture in the noiseless sphere, which landed on the roof of a nearby farmhouse before taking off again in the general direction of Tenerife. Shepherds had encounters of a grislier nature with a "robotic entity" that sliced a mountain lion to pieces and walked in a stilted, crab-like manner.

By 1979, UFOs had started to interfere with the regular operations of commercial airliners flying in Canarian airspace. A DC-9 flying between Lanzarote and Grand Canary was intercepted by an oval-shaped craft as it took off, flying over the airliner and "escorting" it for 20 minutes until it became lost in the clouds. A smaller commuter plane was equally intercepted and escorted for ten seconds at an altitude of 9000 feet by another object, which bathed the plane in a bluish-green light.[viii]

In a world where it is increasingly harder to keep a secret, particularly in the post Cold War era, surprisingly little coverage has been given to a recent "crash/retrieval" scenario which took place in 1992. Two Canarian youths and their friends claim that the Spanish military, in conjunction with unnamed foreign powers, retrieved a mysterious artifact that fell from the skies on the evening of October 12, 1992.

Sergio and Mario, whose surnames remain undisclosed, were on their way to Las Cañadas del Teide Park, an expanse of wilderness on the island of Tenerife, with another acquaintance and his girlfriend, when they found the narrow road leading to the natural landmark barricaded by armed personnel in yellow Jeeps with "ET" license plates (Ejército de Tierra, the infantry). The would-be tourists were told in no uncertain terms to turn around and not to attempt re-entering through the park's southern entrance, either. The officer in charge of the barricade told them that landslides had wiped out the roads ahead.

Their curiosity piqued by the suspicious roadblock, the foursome decided to park their vehicle and try to enter Las Cañadas on foot, finally managing to reach a hillside from which they were able to see another detachment of military vehicles. A powerful beam of light swept the sides of Mt. Teide, as if searching for a particular object. But what was it?

According to investigators, the Canaries Astrophysical Institute had placed a call earlier that evening to the Spanish Army, claiming that "an artifact" had crashed in the Ucanca Valley, at the feet of Mt. Teide. Whatever "it" was, it possessed a tremendous mass, having apparently snapped off a 450-ton lava projection jutting from an outcrop close to the summit of Mt. Teide itself, which can be reached by cable car from the ground.

Rescue helicopters from the Spanish Air Force base at Gando were dispatched to the area in question the following morning, unable to find anything at all after five separate sorties. The airbase's radar claimed not to have picked up anything unusual on the night of October 12 or the early hours of the 13th.

On the island of Grand Canaria, across the water from Tenerife, a couple in the village of Almatriche had witnessed the descent of strange lights, which they were unable to identify, and which appeared to be heading straight toward them. The lights changed course in mid-air and headed toward Tenerife. The time of the sighting was 10 p.m.--just prior to the Canarian youths' arrival at Las Cañadas.

The evening's excitement wasn't over for Sergio and Mario. Once back in their car and returning home, they were surprised to encounter a convoy of ten large military container trucks with balloon tires, darkened but for their intermittent hazard lights. The convoy moved slowly, and the onlookers were given the impression that materials of great weight were being carried aboard the sealed vehicles.

The allegations of the four witnesses aside, the fact remains that all approaches to Las Cañadas park were blockaded for two weeks until authorities announced that the "landslides" had been cleared. A hunter who had been spending the night of October 12 at El Refugio, a natural shelter on the slopes of Mt. Teide, claimed having seen "a brilliant cloud" come within six meters of the peak's summit and spin around it at tremendous speed, giving off bursts of energy before flying away. Local UFO researchers Asunción Sarais and Francisco Padrón initiated what promises to be months of research into this possible "crash/retrieval" incident, which is merely the most recent episode in a long history of sightings. In spite of official silence on the incident, it has since become known that employees from the Canaries Astrophysical Institute were threatened with the possible loss of their jobs if they discussed the incident.

In the U.S., increasingly greater attention has been paid to the folklore and traditions of our native peoples with regard to manifestations of the UFO phenomenon. The same is beginning to happen in Spain, where anthropologists have experienced a renewed interest in searching for Guanche artifacts and possibly even locating surviving Guanches in isolated communities on the smaller islands.

Looking at the graphs from El Hierro, just be ready to jump start because, although the number of tremors seem to decrease, the energy dissipated is sharply increasing with a higher trend than in any of the previous months. It's probably from that trend that officializing an "Alert" is being discussed....

So, if you happen to feel a "bigger than usual one" it wouldn't hurt to make a trial run... rather than waiting for a "how big was it?" answer from official sources.

Hey, guess what we need to try now? That's right, it's time to gather in a joint effort meditation. We will be able to actually see if we have made a difference with randle's charts. randle, will you be the central guide, while the rest of us focus giving our energy to your intention?

What possitive focal do you want to concentrate on, in order to alieviate this energy build up? Would it be a good idea to have a new underwater volcano errupt? Would that help? We wouldn't want to stop the quakes, that wouldn't be good. And shearing off the west wall isn't the best solution. There must be a crack in the ocean bed.

Not pertaining to the above but there can't be endless lava production, can there? Lava production isn't infinate, is it? It just seems infinate when its happening, as if there were a never ending underground source.

But we don't want that, all we want is a nice kinetic energy flow, a good transition between high and low. The perfect storm.

How ‘bout somebody on that side of the pond who has the means or knows someone who does send an airplane(s) or boat(s) to rescue Randles and her daughter and little dog and whoever else can fit . . . . . Surely there are people on the forum or the thousands of guests that come here every day can organize and implement a rescue mission.

Randles there must be other locals like you . . . . can you come together and hire transportation out. Where is your husband??? Can you go there???

I know there have been huge scandals before about donating money to help members but if ever anyone needs a helping hand and proactive action and quickly it would be Randles and other souls on these islands.

I am so tired and I was just about to update the events here today and I read your Post. Your words are wonderful, gave me a lump in my throat and almost made me cry....You have a good heart and a courageous soul. I just want it all to STOP !! Here I am living on an Island, floating off the coast of Africa in the Atlantic Ocean,,,and for almost 13 years I have enjoyed Nature at its very best. I have raised my children on Islands where Family and God come First. My children enjoyed a childhood. A childhood. For so many wonderful years they had no idea what Adidas/Nike/Billabong meant. They were just like all of the other canarian children here. Going to school, no uniform required, surrounded by Nature, running barefoot on the sound. And slowly they grew up. I allowed them, as they grew, to question openly things that they were taught and simply did not understand, and never to be afraid of the answers. Just as the tremors started, my 18 year old daughter left home. She spread her wings and I gave her my blessing to live with her best friend from Venezuela to take leave, and live on the North of the Island in Santa Cruz,.....I am financing it... :) She took with her my Yorkshire Terrier doggie..I kind of figured it would give her some sense of responsibility and routine,. That left myself and my youngest daughter..who turned 16 yesterday...and of course Bella, my Pekingenese living here in the South. On our own. For reasons that I CANNOT go into my Husband is away from home at the moment. For reasons that I CANNOT go into.. simply put..I do not know when his work is finished and we will be together again. He is the only man I have ever loved. And it makes me proud to call him my Husband..and so,, here I am on this beautiful magical Island, living my life, learning who I am, growing a little more, and loving myself a little bit more each and EVERY day. I work. I work in a shop that sells Excursion tickets to Tourists. I work long hours, 7 days a week. I work and sleep, and inbetween I dig and I poke and I nosey around, mostly where my instinct takes me. Much like the rest of the Avalonians here. And just over two months ago, I was pulled to my own doorstep and started to really take a look NOT at La Palma, but El Hierro. Within a short time I was watching it all unfold before my eyes. I searched and I dug and I pushed and I poked, I cross referenced Fats as I was searching...and all the time I was coming up Blank. NOWHERE was it being REGISTERED. NOWHERE,,and then it popped up on Irish Times,,they were coming up with the same as me...2 plus 2 equals 5....there was the odd follow up every now and again, but the coverage just stopped. As if it had stopped. But every night when I came home from work, I would log on, go through my routine of checking El Hierro..and it was not stopping. It was increasing at a rapid rate of knots. RSOE EDIS were happy to tell the whole world of at 2.3 in Greece banging away up to 5 times a day, or 2.2 in Italy over the Summer....you get my point ???...but not a sodding thing was being said about the 4200 plus more or less the same that was happening on my doorstep..Nothing. Not even Chinese Whispers. And so it continued. I flagged it up every now and again on a relevant thread here on this Forum. Waving away saying "hello..I actually live here,, please let me tell you ",...but more often than not the thread would get buried in something or other..and it would disappear in the wilderness. The day that I KNEW the Island Cabildo on my doorstep was starting to get worried and saying really good soothe sayers to a population of 10000 plus El Hierrans THAT HAVE PROBABLY ONLY LEFT THEIR ISLAND A HANDFUL OF TIMES IN THEIR WHOLE LIFE,,,"everything is okay..nothing to worry about, carry on, but remember where are Volcanic Islands,," I started this thread. I have ensured that I have a bug out bag ready for myself and my youngest daughter, and have carefully and mindfully paid attention to the suggestions made here. Particulary to Ian Gordons recommendation of a rudementary dust mask. That purchase I made on my way home from work tonight. The money is NOT the reason i cannot leave this Island. The reason that I cannot leave NOW ..is because during this summer my childrens passports expired. It smacked me in the face like an Iron Pan about 4 days ago. It will take about 6 weeks to send off and receive them back. Without that, we cannot travel. Most may think that..why does she not just go to the Embassy and get an emergency issue >>>>? And the answer is..,.because we would have to fly back the UK as we are British Passport Holders...That my friend leave me with nowhere to go..and then I have to find the finances to get to point B,,..SO...we have no other choice but to ride it out. My savings are split up into small denominaion notes in waterproof bags in the bug out bag, SHOULD something terrible here happen. That shoud allow me to buy food and water for a high price. Remember this is an Island and FOOD is imported. We grow bananas........and then hopefully if the airways are open the passports will get here and WE can all go.
So, Thank you, but I hope you understand, It is a Catch 22 in a very Real situation, and I am taking the hits on a daily basis as they are coming...

Hi randles, Bless you and your family. The home that has served you all with so much love and freedom is being shaken at its core. Your attention is focussed and you feel the need to draw others attention to this situation. Why is no one watching? You are. And by your posts, many are watching. I'm sure that you will continue to draw the world's eye to your shift.
As all of this unfolds, may I ask this; have you sent off for new updated passports? The six weeks required that may seem like a lifetime today, but might in fact be just the time you need. The worst that could happen is that you do not require to take action. But you will have the power to take action if you feel that you do need to do so. If you need help to apply, just post what you need. We are all ears.
On Monday Morning I get the signature required by the Doctor to verify that she has known my girls for 2+ years... then off they go...first to Madrid, then Madrid send them to the UK, then Uk to Madrid, then Madrid to Tenerife.... GOT A PLAN THOUGH !!! SUBMARINE.,.. Its a Touristy Yellow one, it has 300 hundred batteriers and when they are fully charged...it is good to go for 8 hours....all I need to do now is kidnap the Captain and bribe him with chocolate....cunning plan huh ??

Let me feed you a little bit more...please forgive me if you already know some of this.. and please forgive me if my info gets lost, as I am experiencing difficulties with a 3rd party logging me out of this forum...

The origins of the island date back some 100 million years when the ocean floor shifted with the movement of the earth's mantle. The crust consequently cracked into a three pointed star releasing flows of magma.
After three successive eruptions, and consequent accumulations, the island emerged from the ocean as an imposing triangular pyramid crowned by a volcano more than 2,000 metres high.
The initial crevices became channels for further lava flows which grew into three mountain ridges topped by numerous volcanic cones. While the magma cooled in these channels, it solidified into gigantic vertical basalt dykes, typical of the geological architecture of El Hierro.
The volcanic activity, principally at the convergence of the three ridges, resulted in the continual expansion of the island. A mere 50,000 years ago, as a result of seismic tremors which produced massive landslides, a giant piece of the island cracked off, crashed down into the ocean and scattered along the seabed.
This landslide of more than 300km3 gave rise to the impressive amphitheatre of the El Golfo valley and at the same time caused a tsunami that most likely rose over 100 metres high and probably reached as far as the American coast.
Although over 200 years have elapsed since the last eruption, El Hierro has the largest number of volcanoes in the Canaries with over 500 open sky cones, another 300 covered by the most recent outflows, and some 70 caves and volcanic galleries, notably the Don Justo cave whose collection of channels surpasses 6km in length.

There is evidence of at least three major landslides that have affected El Hierro in the last few hundred thousand years. The most recent of these was the 'El Golfo' landslide that occurred about 15 thousand years ago, involving collapse of the northern flank of the island. The landslide formed the El Golfo valley and created a debris avalanche with a volume of 150–180 km3. Turbidite deposits related to this landslide have been recognized in drill cores from the Agadir Basin to the north of the Canary Islands. Detailed analysis of these deposits suggests that the slope failure did not occur as a single event but a series of smaller failures over a period of hours or days. This more or less accounts as to where the West Face went missing..Local tsunami are likely to have been triggered by these landslides but no evidence has been found to confirm this.

On 25 August there were reports that some horizontal deformation had been detected, but that there was no unusual vertical deformation. At that time, the total number of trThe Volcanological Institute of the Canary Islands and National Geografic Institute’s seismic monitoring station located in Valverde, detected increase seismic activity beginning noon 17 July 2011. The seismic monitoring network was increased in density from July 21 to allow better detection and location of the seismic events. There was an earthquake swarm with in emors had exceeded 4000...

According to the Ministry for Industry, Tourism and Commerce, El Hierro will become the first island in the world to be energy self-sufficient. This will be achieved through a €54 million project combining a greater than 11 megawatt wind farm and two hydroelectric projects.

The project, created by the local Gorona del Viento El Hierro consortium with financial aid from the European Union, will construct five wind turbines capable of producing 11.5 megawatts of wind power to supply electricity for approximately 11,000 residents, an additional number of tourists, and three water desalination facilities. The hybrid wind/pumped hydro storage system will store surplus wind power by pumping water up 700 meters (approximately 2,300 feet) to fill the crater of an extinct volcano. When winds are calm or when demand exceeds supply, water will be released from the crater to generate 11.3 MW of electricity, filling an artificial basin created at the bottom of the extinct volcano. Water in the lower basin is then pumped back up again to the upper reservoir when there is excess wind power.

Was aware of the previous but the latter was news to me. Germany and Spain are the forerunners of energy sustainability. Kinetic hydro-storage, with potable water, supplied by off-time energy is an ingenious solution, add flywheels to that off-time, and it will become even more efficient. Make that energy work!!! Increditable initial investment. Don't appreciate the local. It does make you wonder if there are those who would like to see this destroyed but then, building these things on fault lines makes no sense from the initial planning. Hummm...

The prevailing winds for Tenerife, are from the NE, that's in your favor.

randle, passport, or no passport, no one is going to stop you or your girls from getting off a potential time- bomb. Don't you know someone you can call for help? This has got to be an island of boaters.

Was aware of the previous but the latter was news to me. Germany and Spain are the forerunners of energy sustainability. Kinetic hydro-storage, with potable water, supplied by off-time enIIergy is an ingenious solution, add flywheels to that off-time, and it will become even more efficient. Make that energy work!!! Increditable initial investment. Don't appreciate the local. It does make you wonder if there are those who would like to see this destroyed but then, building these things on fault lines makes no sense from the initial planning. Hummm...

The prevailing winds for Tenerife, are from the NE, that's in your favor.

If you look at the Siesmos Heirros which is CONNECTED to this site through ign.es..their count is 46 so far for the day...this keeps happening...I can understand a time delay...but I don't understand why all the conflict in figures..

IGN's listing cuts out anything below 1.5 magnitude whereas El Hierro counts tremors that are below 1.5 magnitude (yellow bars) and below 1.0 magnitude (green bars).

The energy graph is a cumulative one so that any little burst keeps being added to the previous total. What that graph shows is a change in the trend of the accumulation, i.e the slope of the accumulated energy -- steep or shallow. A steeper trend started when that 3.2 EQ happened. However, with the new scaling of the graph that steeper trend is made less obvious than with the previous scale.

Now, if you see an even steeper trend occurring on that graph... keep the engine running, ready to go!

PROYECTILES

Los proyectiles volcánicos comprenden desde fragmentos del tamaño de un pequeño guijarro hasta grandes rocas y bombas de lava incandescente, y pueden llegar a considerable distancia. La lluvia de ceniza volcánica puede cubrir una zona aún más amplia.
Mientras permanezca en zonas próximas al volcán protéjase con los cascos duros del tipo utilizado por los trabajadores de la construcción, motociclistas o jinetes. En zonas más alejadas, deberá protegerse de los efectos de las cenizas y de cualquier lluvia que le acompañe.

CENIZA

La ceniza volcánica no es exactamente ceniza, sino rocas pulverizadas expulsadas en una nube de vapor y gases. Abrasiva, irritante y pesada, puede derrumbar los techos de las casas. Ahoga los cereales, bloquea las carreteras y los cursos de agua y,combinada con los gases tóxicos, puede lesionar los pulmones a los niños, los ancianos y aquellas personas con problemas respiratorios. Los gases altamente concentrados, capaces de envenenar a personas sanas, se encuentran sólo en una zona muy próxima al volcán. Pero, cuando el dióxido de azufre de la nube de ceniza se combina con la lluvia, se produce ácido sulfúrico (y, a veces, otros) en concentraciones que pueden quemar la piel, los ojos, y las membranas mucosas. Use gafas protectoras (gafas de esquiador o una mascarilla respiratoria que cubra los ojos, NO gafas de sol). Use un paño mojado que cubra la nariz y la boca, o máscaras industriales antipolvo si dispone de ellas. Al legar al refugio, quítese la ropa, lave completamente la piel que ha estado expuesta y los ojos con agua limpia.

FLUJOS PIRO CLÁSTICOS

Una nube de gas, polvo, cenizas, etc. que puede rodar por la ladera del volcán a una velocidad superior a los 160 km/h. este material es incandescente y se mueve demasiado rápido. La única defensa es protegerse en un refugio sólido y subterráneo. El fenómeno es denominado por los científicos "nube ardiente"..

RECOMENDACIONES ANTE UNA ERUPCIÓN VOLCÁNICA:

No se deje llevar por el pánico y manténgase atento a las instrucciones que dicten las autoridades a través de la radio y la televisión.
Lleve una radio con pilas y un teléfono movil.
Aunque la erupción se desarrolle tranquilamente, no se acerque al volcán. El viento puede arrastrar escorias calientes y existe la posibilidad de que se arrojen súbitamente productos sólidos.
Evite las hondonadas, donde pueden acumularse gases nocivos, incluso después de finalizada la erupción.
Si es sorprendido por una nube de gases, protéjase con una tela humedecida en agua o, mejor, en una débil solución de amoníaco o vinagre.
Respete las normas de prohibición de acceso a los sectores declarados peligrosos.
Utilice las vías de comunicación fijadas por las autoridades.
No preste atención a rumores alarmistas ni los difunda.
Si las autoridades deciden establecer la evacuación, prepare rápidamente el equipaje familiar, que puede consistir en ropa de abrigo, documentación y medicamentos personales, alimentos no perecederos para tres días, una radio de transistores y una linterna, limitando el equipaje a lo que pueda transportar a mano cada persona con facilidad de movimientos. Esté atento a las instrucciones, recuerde acurdir a su PUNTO de REUNIÓN establecido.

EN CASO DE AVISO DE EVACUACIÓN RECUERDE

Cuando las autoridades de Protección Civil ordenen una evacuación preventiva, es porque se considera indispensable hacerlo para proteger la vida de los ciudadanos. Para realizar una evacuación segura se debe acatar las instrucciones que den los diferentes responsables de seguridad yemergencias y además es necesario mantenga la calma, asegúrese que todos los componentes de la familia están presentes en el punto de encuentro familiar, acuda al punto de reunión más cercano establecido en el plan insular para iniciar la evacuación y albergue.

En caso de evacuación

Mantenga la calma, evitando las situaciones de miedo y pánico.
Llame al 1-1-2 en caso de Emergencia o si tiene a su cargo una persona impedida que usted no pueda trasladar hasta el punto de reunión.
En caso de evacuación, las autoridades establecerán las vías de evacuación más adecuadas y el punto de reunión óptimo para la población. A través de los medios de comunicación le informarán de ello. En todo caso es mejor conocerlas con antelación y conocer el Plan de Emergencias.
Las instituciones, edificaciones y escuelas deben tener en su plan de autoprotección las recomendaciones relativas al riesgo volcánico.
Antes de salir de la vivienda no olvide coger su maleta con sus enseres personales y sobre todo, la medicación imprescindible y la documentación personal y de la vivienda
Desconectar los servicios de electricidad, agua y gas.
Escuche la radio los informes oficiales sobre la actividad volcánica.
Evitar acercarse a las zonas consideradas de peligro, los gases pueden ser tóxicos, las cenizas son abrasivas, el viento puede arrastrar escorias calientes y en cualquier momento el volcán puede cambiar su comportamiento.

Acciones a realizar en caso de un escenario de cenizas:

Cuando este cayendo cenizas cierre las puertas, ventanas y toda la ventilación de la casa (chimeneas, calefacción, aires acondicionados, etc.) para evitar que entre en la vivienda.
No permanezca en áreas descubiertas, evite que los niños salgan a jugar y evitar los ejercicios.
Tome especial atención a personas con problemas respiratorios o mayores de edad.
Evite salir y si lo hace para evitar problemas respiratorios utilice mascarillas para polvos, también puede utilizar toallas o pañuelos humedecidos con agua, y pretéjase la vista con gafas de tipo nadador, utilice camisas de manga larga esto reducirá el contacto con la piel.
En caso de registrarse una abundante caída de cenizas, no conduzca vehículos para evitar accidentes por falta de visibilidad. Si es sorprendido por la lluvia de ceniza dentro del coche. Permanezca en él con las ventanas cerradas.
Lávese los ojos, la nariz y la cara con suero fisiológico casero añadiendo una cucharadita de sal en un litro de agua hervida.
Mantenga tapados depósitos y cisternas de agua.
Evite que las cenizas entren en contacto con los alimentos. Lave bien las frutas y legumbres. No consuma alimentos al aire libre.

Si se vive en una zona de riesgo de sufrir un terremoto, conviene adoptar una serie de medidas preventivas, tales como:

En relación a la estructura del edificio

Revisar, controlar y reforzar el estado de aquellas partes de las edificaciones que primero se pueden desprender, como chimeneas, aleros o balcones.
Revisar, asimismo, aquellas instalaciones que pueden romperse: tendido eléctrico, conducciones de agua, gas y saneamientos.

En relación al interior de la vivienda

Extremar las precauciones en cuanto a la colocación y sujeción de algunos objetos que pueden caerse, en especial los pesados y los que pueden romperse como lámparas, espejos, botellas, etc.
Tener un especial cuidado con la ubicación de los productos tóxicos o inflamables, a fin de evitar que se produzcan fugas o derrames.

MEDIDAS DE AUTOPROTECCIÓN A ADOPTAR DURANTE UN TERREMOTO

Si se produce un terremoto de una cierta intensidad, intente concentrar la atención en evitar riesgos y tenga en cuenta las siguientes recomendaciones:

Si está en el interior de un edificio es importante

Buscar refugio debajo de los dinteles de las puertas o de algún mueble sólido, como mesas o escritorios, o bien, junto a un pilar o pared maestra.
Mantenerse alejado de ventanas, cristaleras, vitrinas, tabiques y objetos que pueden caerse y llegar a golpearle.
No utilizar el ascensor, ya que los efectos del terremoto podrían provocar su desplome o quedar atrapado en su interior.
Utilizar linternas para el alumbrado y evitar el uso de velas, cerillas, o cualquier tipo de llama durante o inmediatamente después del temblor, que puedan provocar una explosión o incendio.

Si la sacudida le sorprende en el exterior es conveniente

Ir hacia un área abierta, alejándose de los edificios dañados. después de un gran terremoto, siguen otros más pequeños denominados réplicas que pueden ser lo suficientemente fuertes como para causar destrozos adicionales.
Procurar no acercarse ni penetrar en edificios dañados. El peligro mayor por caída de escombros, revestimientos, cristales, etc., está en la vertical de las fachadas.
Si se está circulando en coche, es aconsejable permanecer dentro del vehículo, así como tener la precaución de alejarse de puentes, postes eléctricos, edificios degradados o zonas de desprendimientos.

Intente responder a las llamadas de ayuda y colaborar con los Servicios intervinientes, pero no acuda a las zonas afectadas sin que lo soliciten las autoridades. Es importante evitar curiosear por las zonas siniestradas; esto es peligroso y además dificultará las labores de rehabilitación.
RECUERDE

Las medidas de prevención ayudan a reducir el daño que puede derivarse de los desastres.
En caso de emergencia, conocer algunas pautas de autoprotección, ayuda a tomar decisiones que pueden favorecer tanto su seguridad como la de los demá

... and one can clearly see the average/overall trend sharply getting steeper around 20 Sept. That means more energy released with fewer tremors for the 20-24 Sept period. So, keep a corner of your eye on that trend...

I read an article not long ago on why the USGS quit issuing alerts for the West US... got their arms twisted not to do so by local businesses as these alerts were driving customers away and wasn't good for business, etc...

Keeping looking at that cumulative energy graph, what is also noticeable is that the periods of relative rest (shallower trends) between bursts (sharp steep climb) are getting shorter and shorter... keep that engine warm...

It took ~ 45 mn for this one to show up on the seismogram after the ending hour (2.3 magnitude):

I keep an eye on those things since they tend to come into the Caribbean once in a while.

Exactly, but the affect on the industry???? It's a direct hit. And the effect on the economy? Priceless. We all know solar alone is an expensive and inefficient alternative; however, at least it is an alternative. And when connected to a hybrid system, especially with solar passive building (passive building being the biggest and absolute best thing you can do to take yourself off the grid), it makes for a tidy package.

The hybrid wind/hydro system randles mentioned is an absolute thing of beauty to anyone who thinks in terms of being sustainable on a larger scale, or thinks outside the box, fault-line, or no fault-line. However, as tasty as it is to store potential energy in a defunct volcano, the fact that it's being built on a triple faultline, sort of kills any long term sustainability from the start, doesn't it. Who's bright idea was this? Don't know yet.

And then there's this: ABB wins 1.7 million Euro order for Gorona del Viento renewable energy project in the Canary Islands.

That said, if the PTB really are mucking with El Hierro, I doubt it will sink ABB but it won't bode well for the economy; it will soak the emergent sustainable industry, and further serve to dampen the human spirit. But then, that was already done in the initial planning stages, wasn't it? I simply cannot believe it was a case of stupidity. Building sustainably means all parties concerned work as a team. Am I to understand the best and the brightest in the industry all got together and drank a case of dumb?

All I can say is, whom ever "they" are, they must have a death wish for everyone else but themselves.

Goodmorning all.. For weeks I have been posting about the Earthquakes here, and my thread gets lost in amongst other chatter about what may happen in years to come...

I live on the next Island, and ONLY YESTERDAY did the MEDIA SEE FIT to inform the Islands and ask for people to remain calm.
Today the island is banging away every 2 - 3 minutes at 2.6.
Last night myself and my daughter rehearsed our meeting point. It is a 14 minute walk to the nearest solid open ground. There are just a few roadside public water points along the way, the is the safest route to avoid volcanic cones which adorn our islands here and keeps us away from primitive overhead electricity cables slung from house to house.
After the practice run last night with our bug out bags, we went to the bakery for coffee...it would seem that the whole village was there crowded around the television a the MSM was informing of 7000 plus earthquakes to a very 'gobsmacked' population. Some were crying., Others were just in shock,

Like I have said in my previous posts.....its the chip chip chip.....
I hope that I have more time to update you guys.

Sorry to hear this. I thought long and hard about what I could offer in terms of words (they are so inadequate in situations like this) so I asked myself what I would do in the same position. The best answer I could muster is to concentrate on the fact that however fearful the proposed consequences might be and whatever disaster may befall, the fact is that it hasn't happened and therefore may never happen.

I would just concentrate on that to alleviate the present fear. The probability that all this will pass without harm is still very much on the cards.

With that I wish you and your family the very best for the immediate as well as long-term future.

Anyway, the point of my email is that randles seems to be stuck on her little island and she might like to have contact with me as I also live in the Canary Islands but 270 miles east in Lanzarote and above the average tsunami height! No passports necessary and a local ferry ride or two away.

Hey randles, I must admit this is the first time I see your thread and so I became more aware of what is happening in El Hierro.. But I hope you and your daughter are well, it must be a difficult situation (to say the least), I understand the challenges with relocation as something similar is going on in my life (with my husband and my dog), except that I believe I'm the one living in a safer place now, and my husband is in the eye of the storm (long... long story with a lot of confliction, as they are), so my heart goes out to you, it takes a great deal of strength to keep a positive (for most people at least), and humorous, outlook on life.

The institutions responsible for Safety and Civil Protection, and under the Technical Committee that followed, have defined this morning, the action plan for establishing effective procedures for ensuring the integrity and welfare of the population that could be affected by an emergency situation in the scope of this Plan. The preparation of this document is one of the measures provided for when the situation PEVOLCA in yellow light and assigns of staff involved in the emergence of action groups, review contingency plans essential basic services, ongoing information the population, the spread of the Evacuation Plan and Communications Plan check.

At this stage the Cabildo de El Hierro will be responsible for informing the public of the practical aspects of the action plan according to the evolution of the phenomenon, meeting points, shelters and evacuation systems. The website is www.emergenciaselhierro.org.

The Canary Islands government will report weekly on the evolution of the phenomenon, being the sole spokesman for transfer of scientific information. It also enables a dedicated website, which will be available on www.gobiernodecanarias.org / DGSE / sismo_hierro.html

The PEVOLCA includes, in different organs at various institutions such as the National Geographic Institute, the Higher Council for Scientific Research (CSIC), the Meteorological Agency, the Office of the Government, the Cabildo de El Hierro, and Tenerife Cabildo volcanological Institute of the Canary Islands, in this case also involved in Civil Defence, Security Forces, and the mayors of the municipalities of El Hierro

Data provided by the seismic monitoring station can be viewed on IGN web www.ign.es.

Recommendations to the population covered by PEVOLCA

Yellow:

Once declared the yellow phase means you have to prepare for an unfavorable course of the phenomenon, and most importantly is to be attentive to the messages of prevention and self-government to be specific risk areas. The general measures taken in the areas of greatest risk are:

* Listen to your radio or television in the official reports of volcanic activity and its evolution. It is convenient to have a battery powered radio.

* For any additional information call 012

* Also available Internet pages of the Canary Islands and in this case, the Cabildo de El Hierro.

* Be sure to take home all personal documents and family organized and grouped housing to transport most important.

It's possible the biggest conspiracy, if any, concerning these quakes and volcanic activity revolves around protecting the sustainable project. It could very well be that all involved wanted to hush the threat, unless danger was absolutely imminant, as Spain is absolutely one of the leaders in sustainability, serving as a test bed for all the world to see. Can't keep EQ's under the carpet forever.

Best to keep cool heads.

This is a great project. Despite everything, volcano or not, let this project succeed! If it does, and even if it doesn't, Spain, along with the companies, and people involved have proven that 11,000 + people can be energy sustainable. I salute Spain! Here's to the cojones of Spain and the Canary (s)! The years that would lay ahead will tell the story. The Middle East is just as interested in sustainability.

Hey Sygh,.. this project has been talked about openly here since after Tropical Storm Delta in 2005. For us here,..El. Hierro was to Poineer what would eventually substain the WHOLE of the Canary Islands/..
