I have been thinking about starting this thread for a while, and would like to know whether other people think it would be as useful as I hope it might be.

What about a "Resource Bank" of expertise of the members of Avalon?

People could post a little information about their skills or interests - could be on a professional or 'hobby' level - and not only would be learn a little more about our fellow members, but there may come a time when we need a bit of advice, and we would know who may be able to help.

I suppose I am thinking of sharing information that is primarily of a practical kind, and which may be of help to someone else, although I don't want to tie anyone's hands :p

Shall I start the ball rolling?

I am a teacher by profession, although I am lucky enough not to have to work full time any more, and am happy to be out of the politics and paperwork - I just go in to work when I am needed, and can therefore just enjoy being with the kids! :nod:I do find education - in a wide sense - fascinating, and have written a few books for teachers.

Interests? Anything arty/crafty - am currently into felting. Swimming. Cookery. Music (piano). Spiritual practice.

I have asked moderators to set up such a bank in a private area.

I think this is a great idea. I'm interested in making automata and am having a problem making the eyes move!
Do you know?

You know what I do know?
The place wouldn't be the same without pinealnugget.
You gonna come to the Dublin workshop for November 19 + 20?

Am an oil painter and illustrator.
Go on about the mind.
Solve problems that nobody want an answer to.
Make automata, but cannot make the eyes go side ways.
Swim and used to fence.
Like mucking about with words.

I know some things about electrical work. Happy to answer any questions.

Also musical theory, if that helps.

I'd like to know about automata too! Was just thinking about that Tony.

I am a jack of all trades and a master of nothing. However I do have a BFA majoring in Photography including early techniques, ex egg based Emulsions. I took a minor in ceramics and have worked as a production potter, focusing on ready made clays and glazes, ex i know what will be good clay to use and were to look for it, I also have a working knowledge of what rocks and minerals to use for food safe glazes. I have built and fired wood burning kilns. To pay the bills I work in demolition and construction, so i have a basic knowledge of building. I also play and make hand drums.
