Hi All,
Hearing all the interest about the recent Awake and Aware conference made me think about how could this be done in a low budget way and include people from many diverse locations. It seems our chat room is little utilized. The few times I went in I could hear the crickets chirping it was so quiet. I'm not a big chat person but if I knew people like Bill or anyone that had a topic that interested me was going to be present for a set time I would love to pop in and be a part of it. There are some really cool members as well that have a story to share. Could we not have a heading with a chat schedule and when people want to share we could view the chat schedule and reserve a chat room seat. I know this might be extra work for someone but I think the interest would be there. Thanks again to everyone that makes Avalon what it is...

Hello Mojo,

I had participated at some online events with Bill and Kerry, where there was an open chat available.

The disappointment was crushing. Very few actually followed the agreed rules of conduct, and some good questions were lost in a sea of irrelevant chit-chat. And when insults came in... I just had to drop the chat, it was too painful to watch.

So I am sorry to say, but I do not believe that we as a group, are ready to conduct ourselves in an open chat room, and actually have a civilized constructive conversation.

And I've also noticed this here on Avalon chat, when there are more than a handful of members. The ego takes over, everybody wants their question answered first, they get frustrated if it is not, and are not willing to give some space to other members, or to the guests, to actually say something. If a format is requested for ease of read... it's disregarded and so on. And I find myself too in the ego trap quite often, unfortunately.

So unless a format is agreed upon and actually respected, I don't see how an on online event could work.

How about with a delay and a moderator, or maybe a panel of questioners agreed to ahead of time but then some questions might not get asked...

I see what you mean Ilie. Tough nut to crack.

Hello Ile Pandia,
Thank you for sharing your perspective on this issue. It's not so much the idea of the chat room as much as finding a way that is more like a meeting. I have had some neat telenet meetings in the past that connected people from far away and the chat room tool seems like it could work if as you say, we could leave our ego's at the door. Anyway, I had to ask as the Awake and Aware thread was so cool to feel a part of. cheers...
