Democratic Governor Calls For “Suspending Elections”

News Observer
Tuesday, September 27, 2011

Speaking to a Cary Rotary Club today, N.C. Gov. Bev Perdue suggested suspending Congressional elections for two years so that Congress can focus on economic recovery and not the next election.

“I think we ought to suspend, perhaps, elections for Congress for two years and just tell them we won’t hold it against them, whatever decisions they make, to just let them help this country recover. I really hope that someone can agree with me on that,” Perdue said. “You want people who don’t worry about the next election.”
The comment — which came during a discussion of the economy — perked more than a few ears. It’s unclear whether Perdue, a Democrat, is serious — but her tone was level and she asked others to support her on the idea.

Later Tuesday afternoon, Perdue’s office clarified the remarks: “Come on,” said spokeswoman Chris Mackey in a statement. “Gov. Perdue was obviously using hyperbole to highlight what we can all agree is a serious problem: Washington politicians who focus on their own election instead of what’s best for the people they serve.”

PS - I'll use one of the 1st Comments found in the Full story (http://projects.newsobserver.com/under_the_dome/perdue_suggests_suspending_congressional_elections_for_two_years_was_she_serious). from 'MrLackey' (see below) his view on the 'above article'...

Go ahead, Perdue, make my day(!)

Perdue wasn't joking. She's a fool. But if the belligerent parties of Congress do seek to overtly suppress the will of the people, let them.

Let them suspend elections.

Let them declare martial law.

Let them hear loud whizz-bang answer from the good people (versus the sheeple) of these United States of America :)

There will be a VERY swift, effective, wonderful and patriotic outcome. The whole notion is very exciting.

How about doing away with *lobbyists* on a *permanent* basis ... then we can talk.

:bump:

Preaching to the 'Choir' here Calz...

I personally know a couple of ex-Politicians who turned Lobbyists after their Political Career was over...

...and told them both 'What I thought of them'..! They had 'No Reply' just 'Gravy Train GUILT' written all over their faces.

Both bringing in approx. $60 - 80k per year (CPI Indexed) through their Govt. Pensions for the rest of their lives...

:frusty:

The dumbazz general public essentially does this every election by continuing to vote for the incumbent. Vote them ALL out! Start over.

Why not just not vote for anyone?
In medicine, the cause can't be the cure too.
Voting is the problem, it can't be the solution too.
If there was not one vote placed, what would they do?

A democrat rallying against democracy... if it weren't so obvious it would be hilarious.

Completely agree. And if voting changed anything, it would be illegal.

Well, as our good buddy Al Gore so aptly put it years ago: "The constitution is a living, breathing document". That pretty much says it all, unless we want to go back to this gem from Obama in '01.

Really though, the republic I believe gently died in her sleep some time ago; Few noticed or cared, and there was certainly no funeral or obituary...

I like Einstein's statement: "No problem can be solved on the same level from which it was created."

The only thing we need to do is to cause these people, and the masters they serve, to become irrelevent.

Cheers,
Fred
