After practicing with certain herbs over the years.....I thought I'd start a journal of sorts for input.

I will post the admixture and the effects of each herb first and will follow with a report. Most if not all the background information will be pulled from bouncingbearbotanicals and Erowid. I'm not promoting any sort of drug usage in terms of entheogenic brews as you will see in the plant descriptions.

Tonight's potion contains 3 tablespoons of mugwort, a serving of ginger tea, 3 leaves of white sage, a dash of cream, a dash of orange juice and about a cup 1/2 of water. Light rolling boil for 10-15 minutes with essentials pressed from teabags. the mysticism of 3 ;)

Sweet Dreams
Artemisia vulgaris (Mugwort)

This amazing shrub has been known since the ancient times, and reportedly, Roman centurions used mugwort inside their sandals, so that their feet could remain in great shape. The shrub was also used by ancient Europeans and Asians in treating various ailments. The Greek physician Dioscorides of the 1st century AD supposedly stated that the Goddess Artemis, who gave inspiration to the plant’s genus name, used the herb to offer succor to women in the throes of labor and childbirth.

The wise Chinese have been using mugwort for centuries now, and one of its best known uses is in the ancient art of acupuncture, where the heat from a burning roll of chopped mugwort leaves in the shape of a cigar is applied on certain selected points on the patient’s body. This therapy is used as one of the main ingredients in ‘moxa’ or ‘moxibustion’.

USES
The mugwort has a large number of uses, and has been traditionally used to treat digestive disorders, and it has also been used as a tonic for various remedies. The mugwort is known to be milder in action than most other species of Artemisia, and this means that it can be taken for improving appetite, digestive functions, and absorption of nutrients over long periods of time, in small dosages.

The elimination of worms within the body is achieved, and whenever needed, it can be used to induce menstruation as well.

It has stimulant and slightly tonic properties, and is of value as a nervine and emmenagogue, having also diuretic and diaphoretic action.

It is also useful as a diaphoretic in the commencement of cold. It is often use in combination with Pennyroyal and Southernwood.

Erowid.org has extensive information on the use of this herb as a dream potentiator and psychic aid as well.

Ginger ( Zingiber officinale )

In China, ginger has been used to aid digestion and treat stomach upset, diarrhea, and nausea for more than 2,000 years. Ginger has also been used to help treat arthritis, colic, diarrhea, and heart conditions. In addition to these medicinal uses, ginger continues to be valued around the world as an important cooking spice and is believed to help treat the common cold, flu-like symptoms, headaches, and even painful menstrual periods. Native to Asia where its use as a culinary spice spans at least 4,400 years, ginger grows in fertile, moist, tropical soil.

Medicinal Uses and Indications:

Today, health care professionals commonly recommend to help prevent or treat nausea and vomiting associated with motion sickness, pregnancy, and cancer chemotherapy. It is also used as a digestive aid for mild stomach upset, as support in inflammatory conditions such as arthritis, and may even be used in heart disease or cancer.

White Sage

White Sage is one of the most sacred herbs among indigenious North American peoples. Salvia apiana is used to expel evil spirits and negative vibrations from auras, home and environment.

White Sage is thought to bring strength, wisdom and clarity to the mind. Sage has been used to ensure immortality. It is carried to promote wisdom.

Some believe if you desire a wish to come true, write it on a sage leaf and hide it beneath your pillow. For three nights sleep upon it. If once you dream of what you desire your wish will be materialized. If not, bury the sage in the ground.

Decibellistics, we need to be friends! I will send you a request.

I love this thread! It's like sitting down to chat with old friends.

Thanks a bunch for starting it, and I'll look forward to your next post.

All love,

Just imagine for a minute how healthy and vibrant we would all be if The Medical Mafia spent just 1% of their forture on exploring herbs, spices, and other natural remedies. Mother Nature provides us with all remedies, for all ailments. The medical authorities would see her beaten into submission, were it possible.

It's partly a paternal thing. Grumpy old men can't abide the knowledge base that women have obtained over thousands of years. And it was women over the ages that gathered berries and plants, while men hunted. When will we embrace the feminine energy?!

Report:

As the hot tea was ingested, i quickly felt the presence enhanced concentration, particularly in sound. Quite possibly just because that's what tickles my fancy but i digress. The concentration was balanced with a calm relaxed awareness simultaneously and I proceeded to lie down. As I began meditating and passing into sleep I felt a strobing effect in my brain. It seemed to come in waves and gradually build until it ceased. It was extremely pleasurable. I seemed to pass easily into a quiet state of mind and my mind easily transitioned through aspects of me entering the dreamworld. Although, I soon fell asleep. In my sleep I experienced very little dream activity in terms of being able to recapitulate them, but as I awoke abruptly for school I had the inner knowing that I had done some relatively serious work, I just couldn't remember.....an unfortunate issue I struggle with, though I particularly attribute to another herbal. I awoke in a calm and peaceful state....I was groggy but not in a bad way or in the usual sense....and trust me my groggy is pretty intense on some days. As I went to school, and even in class the feeling of missing and forgetting something stayed with me which is unfortunate....I suppose my work was trying to download but my preoccupations had made it unable to do so. Other than this nothing much really occurred.....had a healthy poop.

Hopefully, this is useful to people. I certainly attribute some effects to meditation and such but I don't practice any mantras or anything like that. Just simple lie down, shut the **** up, and travel. Though specifically with mugwort I have had the strobing brain feeling as I pass into slumber, with aural enhancement particularly towards nature.....cricket noises and frogs and the such specifically......bug noise.

Interesting sidenote in terms of PEOPLE DOING THEIR RESEARCH WITHOUT AIMLESSLY INGESTING THE SPIRIT OF A PLANT OR CHEMICAL.......40g per liter of mugwort will cause hepato renal disorders.....aka kidney failure. Also pregnant woman might have a miscarriage if they did the same thing. So, this is my disclaimer and case and point. If you are using herbals for alternative medicines or for shamanic purposes, you should know that you are communicating with a living thing, and the chemical constituents of the plant in case you do take Prozac or Western Medicines or MAOI's and things like that. For any of you that doubt this.....watch Into the Wild and see what happens at the end. You should do the same with your western medicines as well.

P.S. Not all of these are going to taste good and in fact might be a little too intense to drink for some. I personally don't care about this so much just due to personal philosophy, experience, and simply just enjoying the experience in whatever way it may present itself to you. But ya, trying your own spicing methods if you care to alleviate flavoring. This one mainly tasted of Ginger with an undertone of mugwort.

Adios

Hi Decibellistics, could I ask what your recommendations are for dissolving kidney stones. I have been trying (repeated once a week about 6 times now) the lemon juice treatment that many claim success with and now have done couple of weeks of chanca piedra. I am having a renal ultrasound next tuesday to see if I am having any success. It is a 25mm (1 inch stone) that I will have to have surgically removed if I can't disappear it myself. I currently have a renal stent in place and it results in constant infection and extreme discomfort and regular pain. Interestingly I am also currently doing sodium bicarbonate treatment that has reduced all infection symptoms to almost zero :)

Ah, Holy **** markoid that's a biggun. Sorry amigo.... It would need to break up into tinier pieces, which would probably take an extended period of time so depending on your pain level it might be best just to get the bugger removed.

Try a combo of Uva Ursi, I've heard about it for bladder infections and urinary tract stuff but it apparently has been reported effective with kidney stones and general kidney issues too. From all of the things I've found. What you need is a **** load of diuretics, antisceptics, and something like distilled water only or at least filtered water in my personal non medical doctor point of view . Buuchu leaf is another one apparently.

¤=[Post Update]=¤

I'm not sure on dosages....bouncing bear has a report of people using like 10 grams a day or something like that with the Uva Ursi

Ya 10g

I've never really had any kidney problems so I can not attest to any of this being valid via personal experience. Good luck in your endeavor and studies on the such.

Thanks for your feedback Decibellistics. I appreciate your responsible tentativeness. I have a most welcome respite from the infection at the mo' due to the sodium bicarb regime but it may come back as soon as I stop in 3 more days, we'll see. I am looking forward to the ultrasound to see if there has been progress, but as you say, it's more of a boulder than a stone :).
