View Full Version : The Sun did a strange thing today....

I'm not even sure which section to put this on, but it concerns the Sun.
I took a picture of the Sun around 3pm because it seemed really big. I guess after about a week of rain, it would look alittle big.... :becky:
After a few minutes outside, suddenly the sky and everything turned noticeably darker for like a few seconds. I kid you not, the Sun grew smaller and no rays came out of it! At first, I thought maybe something moved in front of it....But the clouds that were near it weren't big enough to cover it....
I don't know if my pictures will convince anyone, but I'll chance it.

Yes! I was hoping that no one thought I was just seeing things....Thank you, Corson!
And I have to agree with WhiteFeather. It was so beautiful that I put everything on hold just to go out and enjoy the Sun and warm weather.

I'm going to do that, ShadowStalker. If I'm lucky to get pictures of strange things, that would speak louder than words....

The sun was weird here in Brazil as well today. A huge halo ring was around it. Iīve never seen this before. It was just beautiful.

i noticed today that there was a halo like affect around the sun here too. i could not look directly at the sun because of the intensity of the glare, however, when i put my sunglasses on and made my eyes focus on it, it was very strange. i could see the halo directly and then i noticed that the sun was wobbling.. it was very strange. i never noticed a wobble before. but that could just be me.

Thanks for the post, interestingly enough, my wife has been telling me for past several days about how strong and intense the sun has been. (She is the one that monitors the Sun in the family) B-)

The halo around the sun is called a sundog.

Yeah. I know it is a quite normal phenomenon. All I think is that it is absolutely beautiful! :)

I noticed a rainbow, not a halo, around the sun the other day. Don't see that too often. Actually there has been small rainbow effects in the sky quite a bit lately. Usually on a nice day with no rain and few clouds. Keep looking up!

Yes halo or rainbow, same thing. They're pretty cool eh? Rad pics RMorgan and aonascimento!
I have two really great pics of a rainbow sundog that was facing opposite the sun. I have no idea how to insert a jpeg...

Chemtrails enhance a sundog. times of heavy (night-time) spraying acn result in extra enhanced Halo or sundog. They are interesting though. That said, the sun has been intense here too. Maia, in your second photo, there appears to be some sort of "abberation" around the 10 or 11 oclock position of the suns edge. Hmmmm, perhaps something did pass in front of the sun.

Awesome pic maia. Wonder if the objects SOHO viewed around our sun have anything to do with it?

I noticed that too. Would have to be quite large

last year I saw this halo effect around the moon a few times.
I have seen it around the sun a couple of times also.
I always put it down to the chemtrails and other muck.

could anyone explain to me why a comet hitting the sun at aprox the 4/5 oclock position would cause an explosion on the oposite side, surely the explosion would come from the same position it was hit, or do dirty snowballs penetrate so far into the plasma ball as to cause explosions on the opposite side? forgive me if i am being stoopid but i dont get it

Probably, it was nothing but a HUGE coincidence. Scientifically,itīs impossible for a comet to create this reaction, which happened thousands of miles away, on the opposite size.

Thanks RM, just as i thought but people are talking as if its cause and effect, it was a very large object(slight understatement) and a large CME ,
i presume that the stereo A/B images are not in real time, does anyone know the timescale(if time exists) from the comet appearing in the frame to it hitting the sun?

No. Iīm not sure about the time scale.
You know, I always say that the sun is just doing his stuff, like always. The problem is, now that we have a tool to observe the sun, everybody think that CME, sungrazing comets hitting the sun, are new things. They are not. It always happened, it will always happens, and probably, the sun will continue to do its stuff much longer after the human race is extinguished.
People seem to be obsessed with all this new telescope technologies and images. Now, every celestial body is planet-x, every solar flare is abnormal...Come on...

I totaly agree RM, i was not freaking out about the suns activity or the comet, just interested as it's not everyday you get to see something so huge hit the sun, and I just wish to understand the timescale of nasa's 20 second clip. does it take 20 seconds for a comet to travel tens of thousands of miles, or a 24hrs or even longer, just curious! maybe this isn't the place to ask such mundane questions, should there be a huge conspiracy behind every question? and i said nothing about planet X Y or Z

What if the "target" was something behind the sun???? That could explain the explosion seen on the other side.. Hmmmm just a thought

I donīt think thereīs a target. Sungrazing comets are relatively common:
"A sungrazing comet is a comet that passes extremely close to the Sun at perihelion sometimes within a few thousand kilometres of the Sun's surface. While small sungrazers can be completely evaporated during such a close approach to the Sun, larger sungrazers can survive many perihelion passages. However, the strong evaporation and tidal forces they experience often lead to their fragmentation."
In this case, this poor comet just got too close. I donīt think it has intelligent behavior to target something.

Thanks RM as i said before i totaly agree with your comments, there's enough real crap going on in the world(and offworld) without inventing new ones.
I'm still curious about the timescale of this thing tho, i think i'll scour the NASA website when i've finished cooking for the kids.
take care, peace.

Hi RMorgan, My opinion of this particular comet, is that it is so much larger than most sungrazing comets, I am not convinced that it was not aimed at "something". But, like I have said before, I'm a very new amature in this field of watching the solar events, so I have only seen a handful of these sungrazers. This one on the first was very impressive, and for sure food for thought. It does feel like things are coming to a head in many areas and solar activity plays an important role in all of this.

I noticed a rainbow around the Sun a few weeks ago and it was so cool!
Also, I noticed that the Sun wobbles, too. Or it could just be the Earth doing the wobbling, making it appear as though the Sun is doing it....

Sorry, Bridey, the rainbow I saw were not rings of color around the sun. The different colors were like different lengths each going around it.

To me, the sun seems alot bigger than it use to be. There is a theory about "earth expansion", and that is what causes havoc, earthquakes, volcanos, continental divide etc, maybe there is something to that, and the sun is experiencing something similar. Just thinking outloud. :decision:

Agreed, the Sun does look larger than usual, and brighter. It reminds me of studio lights when one go to take photos, it's hot and too bright.

If you got shot in the head, would you not have a bigger exit wound then the entrance area?.
Maybe the same applies to the sun.

Just adding a personal musical note here:
I am a "human" sung(r)azer to the Nth degree....The Sun's Energy IS intensifying in a Beautiful and Glorious Way!
Mother Earth is about to Shine Her Beauty as never, ever before in Our Human Experience!
THIS is a cosmic propulsion that will be "felt" in the hearts of all humans!
THIS Beauty is about to become so bright with Love...Everyone on Earth with even an ounce of selfless love in their hearts is about to be lit UP!!!

last year I saw this halo effect around the moon a few times.
I remember those halos from last year, I remember one of them as i was taking my 30 minuets break ,back when I was a slave just last year. everybody was in awe, just mesmerized and eyes fixed at the moon's halo.

I had a strange dream this last night, about the sun turning red and me loving it. That it meant a change ...a dimensional shift. And I celebrated. When I woke up I didn't write down the rest of the details....all I recall.

I agree with you, Eaglespirit. Our Sun is glorious! You must not have the Sun being blocked by all the clouds where you're at because by us, it's always cloudy or raining here. WHEN the Sun does finally come out, I drop everything I'm doing and get out there to rejoice in it. I love the Sun more now that I don't get to see it as often....
I don't know if you've seen on one of the other threads it said that we're already a Binary System - that is, we have 2 Suns. Maybe that's why it's so big now.... sometimes through the clouds it seems like 2 different light sources are coming through....

IF we ever find out that we are in a binary system, the other sun would be very very very far away. It would be impossible for it to cast any relevant perceivable light on Earth.
Currently, there isnīt anything even close to be a proof that we are in a binary system.
All threads about this subject are just assumptions and speculations.
