michael moore will be studied as a government propagandist in colleges in the future.
Oh! Wait ,thats right he is already.
The way he destroyed Charlton Heston in his movie about gun clubs was quite subtle and evil.
charlton Heston was not just wanting to hold on to his treasured B.B. gun he was holding on to the constitution.

I take it Michael Moore's point is that capitalism in the particular form we know it is just a form of institutionalised greed.
Moore would no doubt like a system that curbs greed much more effectively. He may have in mind some kind of new monetary system, or maybe something based on barter or credit. I don't know.

You guys are too hard on Michael Moore, he may well have an agenda that is not obvious but I find his movies rather good. Particularly the gun one. The problem is that when you mix guns with alcohol then people get hurt. As far as the constitution goes and Charlton Heston my understanding about the right to bear arms is in the context of the USA in the early days not having an army to rely on should the english or any other invader turn up again. Well the USA prob has the best army in the world now so the right to bears arms is not necesary and should not be used to justify guns for the general public.
Gun lovers are just like any religion or belief system, they live in their own little paradigm and justify what they believe and everyone else is wrong. If we live in a society where in order to keep the peace everyone has to own a gun then even a child could work out that this is wrong. Gun people.....wake up. Hooray for Michael Moore.........

You thought wrong.
The ''founding fathers'' even explained that the continental army was there to protect the state.
They stated that the right to bear arms is a back up to the right to petition the government for a redress of grievances. If they ignore you, then you remove them by force, that is what they envisioned.

Even the title of the thread brought a chuckle without going any further :)

The 'Dump Truck' is a closet Lefty-Shill, no doubt about it..!
The 'Cheek' of the $200million Fat-Man to try and hijack the OWS protest is just 'Not On' & that goes for George Soros's MoveOn.org..!

I agree, especially in the US those two labels are quickly applied and carry built-in positive and negative connotations respectively.
I've spent my life and earned my living as a businessman in the US but I can say that I agree with Moore, capitalism is a profit driven system and the result as we see is that nothing counts unless it contributes to profit resulting in the destruction of the environment and enslavement of the working class.
Socialism seeks equitable distribution of resources. Yes, it's been run corruptly in the past but capitalism is being run corruptly now.
Personally if there was a system that I would like to see run correctly it would be global socialism with competent and ethical leaders.

Interesting if you consider it was capitalist system that led to Henry Fords invention of the 'production line'. Probably the single greatest invention to have lifted more people out of poverty than anything else. On the flip side we get socialism with its tendancy to run out of other peoples money. Of course the world has never even seen a free market in action but then we'd all have to grow up somewhat before that can happen.

Respectfully, wrong, wrong, wrong. The gun lovers are not the problem. Guns allow the people to protect themselves from the controllers!

Only in an indirect way; Ford was producing way more automobiles than he could sell because only the top 10% could afford to buy one. It's Fords solution to his overproduction problem where his greatest achievement lies. He raised the working wages of his employees so that they would become customers who could afford to purchase the automobiles they were producing; other like minded business owners followed Fords example and this is what had expanded the middle class that currently has become and endangered species.

I do take your point and in fact IIRC he was at one stage considering giving them away provided he got the monopoly on spare parts!! (Canny bastard) Upon reflection that would make him the father of planned obsolesence as well.
I was trying to point at the ongoing benefits in the leveraging of the concept but once again I have to recognise that it has simply accelerated the onslaught of the consumerist lifestyle and the not so good that that entails.
Which leaves me with the fact that I am yet to see an example of any form of govern-'ism' get the balance right, perhaps a moneyless meritocracy....
Note to self - Stop digging :p

Moore seemed to understand the problem when this student asked.
