A night of UFO sightings in Trumbull County, Ohio, first believed to be a prank call turning out to be very real is documented on police radio recordings.

Do you still work as a dispatcher?
No--after I worked as a dispatcher I became a full-time police officer. (I had been a part-time police officer.) Now I'm an investigator for the county prosecutor.
After the incident, while you were still a dispatcher, did people start calling and telling you they were seeing UFOs?
Absolutely, and it kind of made me not want to do this show! I've done some press about what happened, and afterwards my mailbox is always full--I still have people come up to me all the time and tell me about their UFO sightings. I think it's because I was a police officer so they feel like. "If you've seen it, then you'll believe me." So I listen, if it makes them feel better.
Were you afraid?
No, I wasn't afraid. There wasn't a lot I could do about it. We were the police, what were we going to do? Call the National Guard?
So you never felt like you were chosen to see what you saw?
Not at all. I can't even say what I saw was a UFO. I will say that it was like nothing I'd ever seen before. I've seen the shuttle launch, missile launches, it was not like either of those things.
What was it that stood out for you?
It was the way it moved. It was linear--it jetted off faster than anything I'd ever seen. It was just exhilarating. I was a police officer for 15 years and a dispatcher for a decade, and I never saw anything like that again. In fact, no one has. The fact that we all saw the same thing, and it's never been repeated--never come anywhere close--after all these years makes me believe in what we saw. But a UFO? I can't say that for sure.
