View Full Version : "Smart" meters: Higher pulses of RF than a cell antenna

ktlight

"The FCC limit for public exposure to microwave radio-frequency radiation is about 600 microwatts per square centimeter *for thirty (30) minutes*, at the cell-phone and 'smart' meter range of frequencies. Perhaps people living over banks of meters should aim for a thirty-minute nightly bout of sleep.

These FCC levels are based solely on the heating effect of those levels, not on other biological effects. Numerous scientists and public health advocates have called for much, much lower levels of acceptable exposure, based on a long list of experimental and epidemiological studies showing clear effects at lower levels..

Technical information about measurement instrument: This high frequency analyzer has two (2) attenuators on the antenna, rendering it able to read much higher peak power density levels of RF, and changing the read-out units from microwatts per square METER to microwatts per square CENTIMETER. It reads RF in the 800 MHz to 3.0 GHz range."

N6VwYPL9aE4

"Electrical engineers are not doctors, biologists, or epidemiologists. Biological effects are documented at non-thermal levels of radio-frequency microwave (300mhz-3.0ghz) radiation. Research not funded by the wireless industry shows effects. Precaution is called for. The FCC approved their "guidelines" without demonstrating no harm for long-term non-thermal exposures. & that is what we now have, a vast blanket of long-term, low level exposure for humans.

Review of Smart Meters
2011 October 21

I’m going to gang three articles and publish them here as one. This issue I think will go away with First Contact but what I’m recommending is that we orient towards it “as if” it were not going away. It sounds as if the smart meters do harm and as such should not be used. Undoubtedly they will not be part of the technology that comes into use once the galactics assist us with free-energy devices, etc.
Worried about Smart Meters?

Smart Meter
People on both sides of the political spectrum are banding together to fight the current rollout of wireless “Smart Meters” being installed by electric utility companies across America. The left is citing health concerns while the right is focused on privacy issues. The Smart Meter rollout has started in northern California, where everyday citizens are fighting back against their electric utility companies. Many previously healthy people are experiencing health issues following the installation of these meters, and some with electrical sensitivity have been forced to leave their homes and live in their cars. Most everyone is having a lot of trouble getting their electric company to remove the Smart Meter once they are installed. If you are electrically sensitive or have other health and privacy concerns, what can you do to prevent the installation of a Smart Meter at your home?

Planet Thrive guest blogger Cynthia Perkins, M.Ed., a holistic health counselor helping individuals with chronic illness or chronic pain to live life more fully and author of Living Life to the Fullest: Creative Coping Strategies for Managing Chronic Illness, has put together a very informative web page to help educate people on all the issues surrounding Smart Meters and provide resources and direction for preventing their installation at your home. She writes:

Smart Meters expose all of us to dangerous microwave like EMF/RF frequency on a continuous basis, that among other things can disrupt the brain, nervous system, endocrine system, immune system and hormones. Plants that grow beside Smart Meters die. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to know that if it kills a plant it can’t be good.

Many people across the country who don’t even have any preexisting health conditions report they are developing very serious and debilitating effects from the Smart Meters, like high blood pressure, severe headaches, migraines, exhaustion, high pitched ringing in the ears, impaired memory and confusion, insomnia, nausea and vomiting, constant thirst, heart palpitations, anxiety, and a reduced level of functioning experienced prior to installation.

When a citizen tells the utility company they don’t want the Smart Meter installed they are told they have no choice in the matter, they must have the Smart Meter installed. If a person who becomes very ill after installation asks the utility company to remove the meter, most of them are told, No.

Initially, Pacific Gas and Electric also known as PG&E and San Diego Gas and Electric also known as SDG&E, were very unresponsive and unwilling to accommodate anyone’s request, however there have been so many protests and reports of problems that they are beginning to be a little more responsive and now state that they will consider your request on a case by case basis. You have to fight like heck, but some people are successful at preventing installation or having it removed once they are made ill.”

Cynthia shares the letter she wrote to Southern California Edison to inform them she did not want a Smart Meter installed at her home. You can read it here, where she shares a lot of other resources on the topic as well: Smart Meters Are Hazardous to Your Health and Violate Your Rights.

PG&E to let customers disable their smart meters

March 28, 2011 by Todd Woody

http://thegreenwombat.com/2011/03/28/pge-to-let-customers-disable-their-smart-meters/

I wrote this story for Grist, where it first appeared.

Over the past year, a revolt against the rollout of utility Pacific Gas & Electric’s smart meters has swept through Northern California as some customers claimed the devices’ wireless transmission of electricity data was harming their health. In response, city councils in a number of cities tried to ban their installation.

On Thursday, PG&E, acting under orders from state regulators, unveiled a proposal to let customers have their smart meter’s radio turned off — for a price. PG&E would charge a one-time fee ranging from $105 to $270 and then customers would pay between $14 and $20 a month for two years. All in all, it would cost about $600 for the average customer to disable their smart meter.

“This cost is based on what it costs PG&E to disable the radio, adjust our IT system, adjust our billing system, and to manually read customers,” Paul Moreno, a PG&E spokesperson, said in an email.

In other words, that’s the price of dumbing down smart meters.

Tens of the millions of the devices are being installed nationwide and are a linchpin of the coming smart grid. Smart meters monitor electricity use in real time, allowing utilities to better balance supply and demand and charge accordingly. Customers can use that data to adjust their electricity use when rates are high and pinpoint the power hogs in their homes.

PG&E expects nearly 150,000 of its 5.1 million customers to shut down their smart meters’ radio transmitters.

“There is a loss of the benefits of the smart grid (power outage detection, ability to participate in demand response programs to reduce peak demand energy and better utilize renewable power),” said Moreno.

While the rollout has gone fairly smoothly in Southern California, some activists in the greater Bay Area claim the frequencies emitted by the smart meters’ wireless transmitters have triggered migraines and myriad other health problems.

“I’m here to charge you with the following criminal counts,” one person told members of the California Public Utilities Commission at a meeting last September. “This is misguided, Big Brother green ideology that the smart meters support.”

“This is massive experimentation of massive proportions and we are the victims,” declared another person.

Mobile phones, microwave ovens, and a host of other household gadgets also emit such frequencies, and to date there has been no scientific evidence to support claims about the health effects of smart meters.

(When I was at Southern California Edison in Los Angeles last October, an executive told me that utility had received only a handful of complaints about its smart meters.)

Nonetheless, regulators ordered PG&E to allow customers to opt out of the smart-meter program. The utilities commission must approve the utility’s proposal, so expect more fireworks over the cost of disabling smart meters.
Smart Meters – A Call For Public Outrage

Smart Meters by DeesSource: rense.com. By Dr Bill Deagle MD AAEM A4M

Smart meters are the latest technological imposition of utilities generating power to force with no option to opt out a system of control of billing power consumption of consumers at peak energy time rates. This should come as no surprise, but Smart Grid is an Agenda 21 population control Carbon Tax based population TAX ! There is no Federal Law mandating Smart Meters, and even if there was it would be between the Utilities and Federal Regulators and cannot include a non-contracted third party, the consumer. It violates the Federal Wiretapping Laws and clearly builds databases for sale of private information of power usages with the electrical signature of every appliance and time use in the home. This is powerful marketing and control data in the hands of control-freak bureaucrats and marketing gurus.

Smart Meters thus have two primary areas of contention. First, they are a bold invasion of privacy and purport to have authority to gather data and modify behavior and consumption patterns of unwitting power consumers and market data to third parties and government and policing agencies. Second, they are a Class 2b Carcinogen even by WHO standards, and the mountain of toxic data is mounting that Smart Meters are thousands of times more toxic than even cell phones, causing cancer, insomnia, and numerous medical problems. The biological basis is energy transferred to cell membranes and molecules that open calcium and other ion channels and disrupt the non-covalent Van der Waals hydrogen bonds that hold the fragile double helix of DNA intact and cause 4D enzyme active site disruption with disturbed enzyme KMax and nutrient-enzyme interactions and cellular communications.

Utilizing an advanced ElectroSmog Electropollution Detector from Germany HF 35C 800 MHz – 2500 MHz, the Smart Meter from SDG&E placed on my home without notice Nov 2010 was tested last week. Sempra Utilities SDG&E’s Smart Meter produced a burst of ELF microwave radiation 1000s more powerful than a cell phone call at greater than 2000 uW/meter squared power levels every 5 to 15 seconds throughout the day and night. This meter is 10 feet from my studio broadcast desk. Testing beside my wife’s side of our bed, Friday August 26th 2011, pointed 20 yards to our neighbors garage mounted SDG&E meter, every 2 to 5 seconds a burst of ELF microwave radiation was detected over limit 2000+ uWatts of power per square meter.

What is the challenge and what must we do? We must first join by informing our neighbors and communities that we only win if all ELF pollution is dramatically reduced resulting in elimination of ALL Smart Meter Systems, reduction of Cell Towers and eventual replacement with Fiberoptic ports for public access such as the old style phone booths, and removal of WiFi networks proliferating everywhere.

What am I doing? I am an environmental doctor and pro se activist filing a Federal Suit against the CPUC California Public Utilities Commission and SDG&E with the JurisDictionary Course by Dr Fred Graves JD and legal research by Ron McDonald, legal and constitutional genius at strategic action plans for this and other important issues of our day. Jonathan Emord’s legal group has been offered the job of taking on the challenge of taking my environmental research and colleagues with medicolegal expertise in this area such as Dr Wm Rae MD AAEM director of the Dallas Environmental Health Center. We will also move from a local to national level attacking not only other state agencies and utilities but also proceeding against business and neighborhoods who refuse to remove smart meters that pollute our families and ourselves.

This is no small task, to take on the powerful utilities and control freak agencies with other agendas. However the alternative is total lack of personal privacy and irradiation causing the same micronuclei and DNA damage, premature aging and cellular pathology. Electrosmog ELF changes are similar to ionizing radiation from Chernobyl or Fukushima’s ionizing radioisotope particles, with health deterioration and behavioral problems, premature illness and death. We have really no choice but to stand up and take on corrupt government and authoritarian profit driven corporations with UN Agenda 21 driven population control plans. Join the fight, realizing that inaction and silence are complicity with this privacy and electro-pollution environmental extinction level event.

Tuesday August 30th 2011, I have hired an electrician to remove the Smart Meter and bolt it down with tags to prevent tampering with a safe analog meter. I will pay 100 % of my power bill but will not be bullied and irradiated in my own home by unwarranted privacy invasion and health dangers of high energy ELF polluting transmitter on my home or my neighbors homes.

I am available for interviews my phone or on camera, and may need a film crew if they try to cut my power or have police visit my premises to force reinstallation of the SDG&E smart meter transmitter.

Sheesh...

I've just twigged about something from yesterday's news!

In amongst all that hullaballoo about ripping gadaffi to shreds in the mid day sun, The BBC dropped a mighty little bomshell into the daily news.

(you remember that 9/11 comment, "this would be a great day to anounce bad news")

Yup, they sure did pop one in.

I can't remember the exact details, but, right there in the heat of the frenzy, they anounced that some review or other had decided that there was NO evidence that mobile phone usage was harmful to heath.

Yea, they keep on doing it don't they.

Have you tried to cover a bedroom with a material that will prevent the signal from entering? You can use a wire mesh or what I did, completely cover my room with a product that marijuana growers use to prevent the govt from looking into their grow rooms. Its called Thermashield protective poly by Viagrow. Overlap it and tape the seams with aluminum ventilationtion tape don't forget the floor, you can put carpet over it. don't forget to provide a ventilation system, you will be sealed up. Every time they fly over my house at five in the morning I smile because I know they cant see S#it. In fact I cant even get a cell signal, it goes completely dead in there so it should handle the meters. If you PM me I can send you some pics if you want, it looks a little crazy but it gives me an excellent feeling when I'm in there, it make s a difference for sure. BTW don't order that stuff in your name address or you will have the DEA digging through your trash.

I was just wondering about muffling the emmissions a little, (at least), in a perfectly legal manner, at low cost..... The foil materials reflect, fine, but why not also absorb much of the unwanted and noisy emissions at the meter location? Water comes to mind, as in the key to absorbing heat from a micro wave oven. If the frequency range is within the oven range, then why not hang up bunches of water filled, (disposable) jugs or bottle? If the water absorbs microwave radiation, it should slightly heat up and conduct this bit of sensible heat through bottle walls to the surrounding air, (rendering it less invasive as thermal radiation instead of microwave pulses). Artsy people might think of great little water based artworks to adorn meters and thus diminish the sharp microwave pulsing.

BEcause every pulse of RF they have sends a message back to the power company telling them EXACTLY what appliances you have running in you're house. How long they are running for, and when.

This provides marketing information which they can SELL to other companies.

You are taking their profits by not allowing them to monitor you. That is why they want to "discourage" people from removing it - with a hefty removal fee.

Also, they're probs in kahoots with the pharma companies too, like the school system is - RF radiation over time takes its toll on the body, makes you sick....

Siberia9 - Will Thermashield also protect against solar flares?

I don't know about that man, I guess it depends on the strength and what exactly is coming from the Sun. An EMP type of pulse,,, maybe if you completely seal the room. My door over lapse's on the edges and the bottom by 2.5 inches with the sheilding, and I put only the smallest slice required for the doorknob mechanism and If you want electricity (I dont) you will have to cut just enough for the plug to fit thru and then wrap the plug up with the material. It seems to work really well for cell signal, that much I am sure about.

There are some cheap imatations out there but the Thermoshield stuff has been tested so I buy that, its worth the money to know what you are buying in my oppinon.

I also doubt that it would do much to prevent them from using the X-ray vans they now have at all the local police stations to snoop you, with you in the house BTW . Alot of people here are wraping their guns in aluminum foil to thow them off. But I dont know, they can see through steel shipping containers with them but I guess thats another subject all together.

Thanks for those mentioning ideas. I have been playing with some ideas already (caught by surprise) ...due to budgetary restraints (ran out of funds) I havn't tried many.

I stopped the nausea with a special medication and accupuncture (so no more expensive Emergency room and doctor visits...so saved some there). And I put Versatile Diodes on each meter (which helped too) and on my person. Then I ran out of funds (really).

I like some of the ideas but I don't have the authority to build anything major. I moved instead to the one room that doesn't bother me much and live there mainly now. How long this can last is not my call. I don't own the house,...just a relative in pain.

I did see that someone built a screen ....see www.lessemf.com. I am waiting for more information before I try to borrow more money to put one together (as mentioned on the site...which I got off Rense.com) you put the screen inside the house and it have various materials incorporated (which you have to put together yourself and is expensive....ouch!). This supposedly gets the microwaves to not enter the house and they are both absorbed and reflected. YOu have to go to the site to see this idea (hard to explain).

I am also waiting on my chiropractor asking someone (a plumber he knows) who build a lead box with a small appenture (hole to let the signal get out to the electric company) around his (he got the idea from his dentist office). No idea if that works.

Dang girl, I got an extra roll you want me to send it to you, and then you can get someone around there to build you a deal that covers your bed??? Surely you can get someone to donate a few 2"X4"s and screws, heck I think I have a roll of that alluminum tape too.

Microwaves have funny radiation patterns. If you completely seal that meter, so the power company can't read it, they will come calling, no doubt, and I wouldn't expect them to be sympathetic.

If you leave a large enough hole in the shield you put around the meter so that the power company still gets a reading (no telling how large a hole that would have to be) then the radiation pattern around the edge of that hold could be put more or less radiation where you are - hard to say.

Really hard to say ... as someone who has been (to a small degree) involved in designing the shielding for new computer system designs in order to get them to pass FCC Class A (business) or B (residential) certification, the dangdest little details can throw the radiation strength and pattern entirely off. It's a bit of a black art, and the few engineers (not me) who had an instinct for it were treated kindly by management.

Hi sibera9,
About the roll you mention, as I mentioned I had to move out of the bedroom I had (which was instantly taken by another relative....that is the way it is these days)...so no bed to build any structure around and if I kick them out (well that won't happen anytime soon, maybe in a year ...), then....so lots of what ifs as I don't understand your idea (as I probably need 'proof'....like a website testifying to it....to convince the people who own the house to let me try). The one website with a structure for the bed wanted $1400. So confused about all of it (and so is everyone...I know).

And what about the rest of my day? Still doesn't solve those issues. But the screen I will build (when I have an extra 300 or more...that is just for the materials....on lessemf.com), would be more helpful overall. And that still doesn't solve the other meter that I have to convince the people who live in that room to let me install a structure in their bedroom. I hate smart meters.

thanks though

Great News!! PG&E BEGINS REMOVING ‘SMART’ METERS DUE TO HEALTH EFFECTS

PG&E BEGINS REMOVING ‘SMART’ METERS DUE TO HEALTH EFFECTS
Widening Call for Immediate Return of Analogs; Disconnection of “Mesh” Wireless Network

SANTA CRUZ, CA.—Just as PG&E enters the final phase of its deployment of wireless “smart” meters in California, the largest of the state’s Investor Owned Utilities (IOU’s) has reversed course, quietly beginning to replace the ‘smart’ meters of those reporting health impacts with the old trusty analog version. Consumer rights and health groups immediately seized on the news, demanding that millions of Californians unhappy with their new wireless meters get their analogs returned immediately at no cost.

‘Smart’ meters are new wireless utility meters being installed as part of the “smart” grid initiative, spearheaded by technology firms and backed by the Obama administration and the Department of Energy. Promises ranging from lower utility bills to enhanced renewable generation capacity have failed to materialize, with widespread reports of higher bills, privacy violations, fires and explosions, and commonly reported health impacts such as headaches, nausea, tinnitus, and heart problems associated with powerful wireless transmissions. Widely disparate political groups- from members of the Green Party to the Tea Party and Occupy protesters have attacked the program, and dozens of grassroots organizations have sprouted up over the past several months to fight what they call an undemocratic, unconstitutional and dangerous assault on people in their own homes and neighborhoods. Dozens of people have been detained or arrested for peaceful civil disobedience and even simply speaking out against deployments.[1]

In California, more than 47 cities and counties have demanded a halt to installation, and a dozen local governments have passed laws prohibiting the controversial technology. [2] The ‘smart’ meter issue has further angered a public already seething at the utilities over repeated gas explosions, safety breaches at nuclear reactors, and an increasingly extortionate rate structure. Word of California’s ‘smart’ meter nightmare has spread across the country and around the world, prompting some utilities to place smart meter plans on hold, and recently Nevada’s PUC to call for investigations into the health effects and other smart meter problems.[3]

Now in a dramatic turnaround that could signal the beginning of a widespread recall of wireless ‘smart’ meters, on October 28th PG&E re-installed a classic spinning disc analog meter on the home of Santa Cruz, CA resident Caitlin Phillips, who had been suffering headaches and other symptoms from her ‘smart’ meter. The move comes in response to verbal directives from the California Public Utilities Commission President Michael Peevey, who recently told members of the public that the utility “will provide for you to go back to the analog meter if that’s your choice.” The CPUC has been slow to respond to thousands of ordinary citizens reporting health effects from the new meters.

When a Wellington Energy installer (contracted with PG&E) came to install a smart meter at her home, Caitlin asked the installer to get off her property and not install, because of what a neighbor had told her about possible health damage and privacy violations. “When I returned home later, I discovered a smart meter on my house. That night I awoke to severe anxiety, headache, and buzzing in my teeth, and realized the new smart meter was on the other side of the wall from my bed.” Caitlin reported her experience to PG&E and the CPUC, who both declined to rectify the situation. When the symptoms persisted, Caitlin sought the assistance of the Scotts Valley based group Stop Smart Meters! who provided an analog meter and referred her to a professional who could help her remove her ‘smart’ meter. As soon as the analog was installed, Caitlin’s symptoms disappeared.

Frustrated and outraged about her treatment by the utility and the PUC, Caitlin travelled to San Francisco to speak at a commission meeting on Oct. 20th. About a week later, PG&E crews were at her house replacing her temporary analog meter with a brand new official PG&E analog meter. This is believed to be the first time PG&E have willingly replaced an analog meter on the home of someone suffering from health effects.[4]

An “opt-out” proceeding overseen by an Administrative Law Judge is underway at the CA Public Utilities Commission, yet those suffering (in some cases severe) health impacts have been stuck in limbo as utilities refuse to remove the harmful meters upon request- until now.

“There are hundreds of thousands- if not millions- of people suffering in their homes from forced ‘smart’ meter radiation,” said Joshua Hart, Director of the grassroots organization Stop Smart Meters! “The utilities and PUC’s must respond promptly to all requests that analogs be returned. The alternative is that people will increasingly turn to independent professionals to remove unwanted ‘smart’ meters from their homes, a reasonable action we assert is within our legal rights. Protecting your family’s health is not tampering.”

PG&E and other utilities have also been responding to health complaints by replacing wireless ‘smart’ meters with digital meters that are “wireless-ready.” These digital meters have been associated with health problems from “dirty electricity” frequencies that pass into a home via the electrical wiring. These “trojan horse” meters have been roundly rejected by those who report continuing health impacts after installation. Susan Brinchman, Director of San Diego based Center for Electrosmog Prevention. said “At this point, the burden of responsibility is on the utilities to demonstrate that any new meter they want to install on our homes is safe. Communities have the right to retain analog meters at no extra charge. Period.”

But some good news is underway.

In California, more than 47 cities and counties have demanded a halt to halt installation, and a dozen local governments have passed laws prohibiting the controversial technology.

Period.”

I did file a complaint with the TURN organization. I havn't decided how I am going to change the people's idea (of where I live and who own the residence I live at, much like the burden placed on other renters) that the smart meters are a great idea and it is just me complaining that is the issue.

Since, in a broader way, this amplifies my desire to see world wide change, as I do everything that can be done for everyone, I feel sorry for those who are putting these dangerous microwave amplifying devices on their friends and neighbors homes.

It isn't much different, in several ways, than the soldiers who fire radiation missiles into Iraq and Afghanistan (and two other middle eastern countries...or so I have heard) homes and then come home and try to forget the damage they left behind for innocent cilivilians to deal with (and die horribly from).

We are just dying or so much slower (and more deviously....as it is largerly ignored in the public air waves).
