I just couldn't believe it...
Today the GOP-led House of Representatives, with the blessings and encouragement of the United States Council of Catholic Bishops and extremist religious groups such as the Family Research Council, passed a bill in a vote of 251 to 172 that would, among other things, allow doctors and hospitals to "exercise their conscience" by letting pregnant women facing emergency medical conditions die.
Yes. Die.
This is what the Republicans called the "Protect Life Act." And no, I am not kidding.

"Today, the House will consider H.R. 358, Restricting Women's Access to Reproductive Health Care Services (the so-called "Protect Life Act.") Supporters of this bill claim it is amending the Affordable Care Act to ensure U.S. taxpayer dollars are not used to fund abortions. However, the Affordable Care Act already prohibits the use of U.S. taxpayer dollars to fund abortions. Furthermore, H.R. 358 goes far beyond the Hyde Amendment. Its effect would be to restrict, for the first time, how women with private insurance can spend their own private dollars in purchasing health insurance.
Transcript: For a moment, I want to get back to what was asked about the issue on the floor today—that Mr. Hoyer addressed. He made a point, and I want to emphasize it. Under this bill—when the Republicans vote for this bill today, they will be voting to say that women can die on the floor and health care providers do not have to intervene if this bill is passed. It's just appalling. It falls right into their—it's a health issue. This is a health issue. And it falls right in there with a lot of other initiatives that they had coming up on the floor about clean air, clean water, mercury, you name it. America's families deserve better than this. And, again, today is another example of a wasted opportunity instead of taking up even an aspect of the President's jobs bill that could create jobs. I can't even describe to you the logic of what it is that they are doing. I just know that you'll see a large number of women on the floor today fighting for women's health issues as well as to point out how savage this is about withholding care for a woman because of this legislation."

I suppose the male pedophiles, rapists & men with various STDs can still decide on how their health insurance is spent....
US - Just don't export this to the rest of the world please (as per health plan, OBE etc):mad2:

Let women die and the child belongs to the state. Since most women are now single parents this would be convienient. Also, with mothers gone there would be no more births. Humm.....

Excellent point Pharaoh!
And too, we have to remember that those in Washington D.C. who are making these wild and horrific decisions, are not necessarily the human being elected to that position. IT may be something totally different.
There is a correction to the opening post's quoted area.
Correction: We have corrected an error in the name of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops; we inaccurately identified the group as the United States Council of Catholic Bishops. We also corrected the link in the vote count to access the final tally which is correctly cited in the text of the article. An earlier link was to the preliminary count.

WAKE UP
For more than a decade now [starting 1998], i'm feeling that this is a done deal.
This bill and the like drastically tell me that all of this is OVER already.
And that the cynic power "elite" know this, too.
Legislation like this is action based on fear *par excellence*. That's how i see it.

sooo are they basically saying that if an abortion is needed to save the mother they wont do the abortion and let her die? or does it also apply to birth complications where an abortion is not necissary? for instance a life threatening complication durring delivery????

TPTW have been moving down this path for a long time. They applauded and supported the woman's movement specifically to get women out of the home, so their children would go into daycare, thus fracturing the family a bit more. They also forbade anyone (women with children) receiving welfare from having a man live in the home, even the father. Destroy the family unit, and you have pliable slaves. By this action, it appears that they feel it's even better if you can get rid of the mother altogether. Shades of the Borg?
This is the mindset of these psychopaths. I can only take heart in the fact that 'they' won't be around very much longer, IF we can all 'stick together' and move into the new consciousness that both Mother Earth, and We so desperately need.

I'd just like to add a small reality check here. Within the US it is a fact that 70% of women have been raped or molested in their lives. However it is believed by researchers that the actual figures are more like 90% This is based on surveys where many victims will not admit to these events, and many more have such psychological trauma that they cannot remember it.
This bill, while shocking, is simply a conscious admission of what is already going on. In the mean time, it is the compassion or lack thereof, of health care workers which determines actual results. Currently the hospitals and doctors commit genocide every day. They do it with drugs that are highly toxic and cause many life threatening side effects. They do it by not caring for the whole person who comes to them, but only for the body parts, as though they are being presented with 'body machines' that breakdown and need parts like a car does. Depending on the source, between 98,000 and 700,000 annual deaths occur in American hospitals due to medical mistakes.
Hospitals are currently death traps in the US and many 'modern' countries. This is just one more event that shows the true attitude which is based more on profit and control of the herd than on anything resembling compassion or a desire help others become healthy.
I did not become healthy until I left western medicine. I was cut, poisoned, humiliated, and misdiagnosed for a number of things for the first 37 years of my life. One day I just decided I had enough! I have never been back since. (Oh, except that I was put on involuntary hold after awakening from Nirvikalpa Samadhi. While I still was unable to control my body movement and was completely catatonic, I was put into a 'mental hospital'. During that hold period I was further poisoned with medications which left me feeling very strange indeed)

Every American would be better off had we paid Congress to stay home and twiddle their thumbs. We'd certainly be far better off and even the wars wouldn't have been funded either. The more draconian laws they pass, the more outrageous we should be to the point where we shut their illegal, unconstitutional actions down entirely.
This is what happens next and all the laws ~ new and old ~ that should never have seen the light of day but were allowed to pass will be rescinded, and taken off the books. Literally thousands of ridiculous laws prohibit us from breathing free air and encroach us in ways never intended by our forefathers. All is changing now.
Just watch the protests as one by one these areas of all the old systems are shut down. Don't empower this corrupt Congress or give it energy. Soon we will send the lamers home who are tormenting the people on a daily basis in Congress. It ends now. Three cheers seem appropriate. I anticipate a whole new vista before this year is over, 2011. IMAGINE what it would feel like to have leadership that was actually working in our benefit. Imagine it and it will manifest. It's about time...

You go, Darla! Getting them out of power can't happen soon enough. And seeing all of their ridiculous laws rescinded will be such a relief.... Just wish we were over the hard part already....

Hey dude - this is an example of the lack of ascension of our species - contrary to what many believe. We are a primitive species and we have systems that will push for tighter and tighter control over human life. Conscientious objection must come from the heart and be consistent across society.
Human greed and stupidity is ingrained in our species. No amount of 'enlightenment' or 'ascension' appears to be able to transform human nature - in which some humans fall out of the sympathetic beatings of the human heart.
Very, very sad really. But I remain an optimist about our wonderful homo sapien sapiens ! :horn:

TPTW are certainly getting desperate as they blatantly push their agenda out in the open. I hope the kids on OWS keep pushing harder.
