Thanks Maia Gabrial... Love (and miss "real") storms. Turbulent weather is rare where I live. Where I grew up, there were dangerous thunderstorms, tornadoes and blizzards. I don't remember ever being afraid but really miss that adrenaline rush during the moment. Free Buzz from mother nature... tee hee.

This was the same storm in Calgary that produced the mammatus clouds - just earlier - note the light beam ;)

has anybody ever witnessed cloud formations that are moving in opposite directions? today, where i live clouds were moving to the east and other clouds were moving to the west. it was really weird. i have never seen this happen before. thanks for the vids and pics. very bizarre and awesome.

Mrs Anchor told me she read that odd looking clouds are often UFO's using steam as camouflage so as not to upset the natives. I'll ask her for a reference

I have seen it - it usually indicates a horizontal split in air mass movements - where the clouds at one level are following the air mass in one direction, wheres another air mass either above or below (although because of the distance this isn't always obvious), is moving in another direction - each pulling some clouds along with them. It is weird to see but not that rare.
