I thought this was very interesting and genuine. EEM meditates every day -yoga - and has practised for 18 years. Has anyone seen anything like this before?

yes i have seen this before ,only i saw a longer documentary.
the man is a qui jong(i think thats right) practitioner and healer.
If I remember correctly the man got into trouble from his teacher or something for doing this as it was akin to showing off.
If you can locate the full documentary its well worth the watch, and the guy comes across as truly genuine.

The book is 'The Magus of Java' by Kosta Danaos. Fascinating read, and I have it right here in front of me.:p
Electric Eel Man is also known as Sifu John Chang. If you google and youtube his name you'll find stuff.

In this little documentary about John Chang, he was showing off and accidently hurt a bystander. His face dropped and the next day he said his long dead master visited him at night and was furious, because John made a vow to never show off, never hurt anyone. After that incident, John avoided further publissity, they say.
It is a very impressive reminder of what we are truly capable of anyways. :)

Qi Gong, Chi Kung, whatever... "Chi" is the subtle ethereal energy and "Kung" (as in Kung Fu) is work or ability, hence it somehow means energy work or energy ability.

The thing that stuck out for me was that he said we could all do this. But it took him 18 years of meditation . . . . does anyone know of any short cuts? I'm not knocking meditation in any way but the world might not have 18 years left ....... (hope that it does though :))

The fastest I've heard of anyone achieving this type of ability is six years. But they were of course guided by a qualified master. Roughly about half of those who try to combine the tai ji die in the process.
unless you could somehow get a hold of the thunder god and convince him to empower you, there is no shortcut to obtain this ability and use in a similar way. even if you did somehow achieve this, it is not the same power as what John chang has.
The external display of his power is not the most important thing, John Chang is a "immortal", like the jedi knights in star wars who can be seen as blue light beings

I recently posted two vids on meditation, what it really is and how to achieve it in Spirituality. They involve a discussion between Krishnamurti and a psychiatrist. Very interesting.
