Hi..
I thought I'd start a thread for CHOGM-related news, since it starts in 7 days, and there's bound to be at least some interesting bits of news coming from the little shindig they're having...

And I'm starting off with this article from the WA Today website.
The WA government has given our CCC (Corruption and Crime Commission) special coercive powers over minors during the CHOGM event.
http://www.watoday.com.au/wa-news/unease-over-chogm-special-powers-as-favoured-ccc-commissioner-named-20111019-1m74n.html
I'm not the best expert on what they are or what they do, so I'll just quote from wikipedia :
The Corruption and Crime Commission is a permanent investigative commission established by the Government of Western Australia in 2003, largely as a result of the findings of a Royal Commission into the state's police service. Its role is to investigate public corruption. It is Western Australia's most elite law enforcement agency with exclusive coercive powers which allow investigative techniques such as phone tapping, covert surveillance, compulsory testifying of witnesses and the seizure of documents.
There are quite a few people who are uneasy about the government letting minors appear before the CCC, and rightfully so....

... and all the other secret agencies who shall remain nameless (because we don't even know they exist! Remember - the Australian government keeps its' secrets REALLY well.) :)
SSIG would be the small-fry in the operation...
(As an aside, with all the police, defence force personnell, and whatnot over here - not to forget that wierd little thing about what Julia would say in the event of a terrorist attack - I can't help but wonder if they don't have something planned to happen at CHOGM???)

Commonwealth Heads Of Government Meeting is CHOGM.
And SSIG is State Security Investigations Group. Political police, virtually.

Apparently, GHOGM is their initialism: see here (http://www.thecommonwealth.org/subhomepage/33247/); they speak of "CHOGM 2011 Australia"

I've always had the feeling that Perth is an important city in the eyes of the secret societies (mainly due to its' location).... and I think the timing of CHOGM is...... interesting.....
it will be very interesting to see what, if anything, transpires during the CHOGM next week...

Yuck. I couldn't handle that for long.
I hate it when I have to be in court more than once a week.

I hear that!! People at work ask me why I don't use public transport (to save the planet). The Mastercard moment comes when I tell them the red pill dissolved my Peril Sensitive sunglasses and that the risk of being approached by three armed Transit police goons is a little too much temptation...:p

As I have said before, the WA Police are so incompetent, they couldn't catch a cold in Antarctica if they were running around naked.
