In fear of radioactive clouds blowing over my area (in JPN) and raining (especially when I go out jogging), I've been keeping track of wind movements (clouds) over Japan with the satellite images provided by the Japan Meteorological Agency.

However, when viewing the information provided by the Swiss Meteomedia simulation of radiation particle dispersion, I'm not sure if what I'm seeing is actually showing the true wind movement and if these images are reliable . What I mean to say is, when I compare the two animated images for the duration of a certain time, Satellite pictures show clouds moving North-East, while Meteomedia show clouds/air flow moving South-West.

Anyone with some background knowledge or have studied Meteorology, could you please help me understand if or what I'm not seeing correctly?

These are the two sites:

Japan Meteorological Agency (select duration in hours, then click PLAY)
