Gregg Braden (geologist and alternative science proponent) was on C2C very recently and he was asked about this. He said all warming period are intense and short but they are quickly followed by an ice age. This happens cyclically and can be predicted. Humans are contributing a little to the warming but aren't the cause of it AND cannot stop it from occurring.

It isn't the temp that we have control over, but the pollution!

The anthropogenic global warming meme is BS. As said above by Nearing pollution is a huge problem whether we are heading for a warm period or cool period. Poisoning Earth, Air and Water needs to stop, yesterday. The global warming crap does not address the rape and poisoning of the environment. It is pure distraction, a magicians trick. I find it fascinating that there doesn't seem to be any government initiatives to re-populate the forests of plants of this planet, considering most of the CO2 is absorbed naturally in nature. Why do I not here more proffessionals talk of this? :S

Well, apart from the fact that CO2 is not a danger, it's because the climate-change advocates at the top are only after control and don't care about the environment and thus should not be expected to be consistent in environmental issues.

I agree with the comments above. The issues are not so much with global tempretures but how we handle energy, fossil fuels, pollution and sustainability. For most people in the know, the major factor in global tempretures is what the sun is doing. We have little control over that.
