Top 5 dietary myths promulgated by the medical establishment:
1. The consumption of dietary fats (especially saturated fat) increases one's risk for obesity or leads to weight gain.
2. Saturated fats and cholesterol-containing foods increases one's risk for heart disease.
3. Calories are important in human nutrition.
4. You must exercise to lose weight.
5. The consumption of margarine is an effective treatment/prevention of heart disease.

Thanks Nearing - I haven't time to watch the videos at the moment, but the 5 myths you put at the beginning are a complete echo of the research I am doing at the moment. Have you read "Trick and Treat" by Barry Groves? We are tricked by the food industry and then treated by the pharmaceutical industry when we fall ill...

I haven't read that yet, Kathie. I am glad to see that more and more medical docs are figuring it out and becoming vocal about it though. Yep, we have been conned. It's a huge scam that is pertperuated because medical education after medical school is only offered by the Pharma companies. The docs are as brainwashed as the public. But a few have seen the light.

The doctors are all brainwashed so I stopped going to one. I got sick of looking at his eyes and listening to him. Most of the vets have gone the way of doctors too. Its more than just being ignorant about nutrition.

So true Nearing! I could add about 50 more items to that list. Most information people glean from "expert sources" is actually nothing more than marketing and advertising. Or worse, ghost written misinformation from the pharmaceutical bastards.
One thing that really bothers me is how they tie eating junk food to weight issues, all the while ignoring the health impact. If one eats in a healthful manner, weight takes care of itself. And no, calories are not a factor in weight control. It's WHAT you eat, not how much.

They gave her one anyway and 4 hours later her face was swollen horribly. I was nearly thrown out of the vet's office the next day I raised so much steam. Damn, I don't think I've ever been so mad.

I would have to agree that it's more than only ignorance. There is also a degree of intellectual laziness (easier to be spoon fed what Pharma tells you).
And, even, more the point, there is a fear of going outside of the herd and sticking one's neck out. When all of the big $ is one the side of Big Pharma and they control what the MSM says about medicine, docs who could lose their license by doing the right thing, tend not to listen to their conscience.

Wow. Yes, both the vet world and the medical world are a friggin' land mind for the aware consumer. But the more f us that raise a stink, the more they will have to start doing the right thing.

I dk if they can do the right thing, now. Because they have lost some skills. I took my dog to a real vet a month ago; I couldn't believe the things he told me (because I've been going to the city vets for so long); he knew a lot; he also knew how to do a diagnosis "by hand", so to speak, instead of relying on the specialists and the f****ing testing which is so expensive; he also still had compassion for both me and my dog. I had to drive for an hour to get their (an extra $20.00 but I saved several hundred dollars in vet fees).
I dk how much the governing bodies of these professionals are influencing all of this as well...that is, by making them do certain things as a "protection" from professional liability. The paranoia of governing bodies could be driving some of it. But the more "safety" for their insurance schemes; the more expensive for us. Not too many people have any guts to deal with this.
I think that "safety" is a satanic invention. Think of the things that are being invented to "protect us". Soon everyone and all the animals are going to chipped up; surveilled; scanned constantly for various reasons; and whatever else can be thought up, all in the name of "safety". Its never ending.
Also, I think it is partly because we don't have stable communities anymore. We don't have good communication or trust with each other.

Another tidbit from the video:
Avoid:
Bread, Pasta, Rice, Corn, Carrots, Potatoes, Cereals, Fruits, Fruit Juices, Beets, Cakes, Candies, and Margerine. [what do they have in common? SUGAR]
May Eat:
Meat (red), Lamb, Pork, Chicken (with skin), Eggs (whole), Cheeses, Cold cuts, All Veggies (except those listed on the other list), Butter, Mayonnaise.
--dang, my favorite veggie is the red beet root and I really like carrots. Oh well. Oh and there is no way I would eat anything coming from a pig, but that's just me.
The doctor himself, fixed his own cholesterol problems and lost 80 lbs sticking to this diet. Good for him!

This is pretty much the diet I eat and have eaten for 4 years now. And yes when I started I was obese. But eating this way I have lost 110 pounds and I have kept it off for 4 years. It was amazing to me how much better my body felt when I ate that way. I feel more alert and have more energy. I just feel better eating like this. It is extremely rare that I eat bread or rice. I don't eat pasta at all. I also limit my sugar intake. I never eat anything with over 7 grams of surger. I feel better than I ever have in my life from eating this way.

Over a decade ago, I got a seal point siamese male kitten.
He was very nervous around my older cat, she used to spit at him and be aggressive.
He would pee all over the place and just raise chaos.
I had to take him to the vet for something else and I mentioned this.
The vet wanted to put him on anti depressants!
So, I abused the hell out of him and took Fleaman home.
Anti depressants. Pfffffft. Quackery.

The Bach Flower Remedy called Rescue Remedy can do wonders for cats with emotional disorders
also, red beets and carrots in moderation will not hurt you.. but you may want to avoid them during weight loss endeavors.. They are an integral part of the Gerson therapy and carrot juice can be part of curing diabetes if done right

Hi Nearling,
Thank you for your post. I’m afraid, though, that I don’t agree with everything you say. Excuse me if I make the following comments:
I agree that we should eat fewer cereals, though believe that gluten-free ones are better: e.g. rice, corn/maize, buck wheat, millet and (can’t remember the name, that South American cereal) but you are definitely right when you say we should be sparing with cereals.
I think we should be sparing with dairy products, too, and only eat organic ones. (I think organic butter is good for you, especially goat's butter). It is considered a special food by the Tibetans just as maize/corn is considered a superfood by the curanderos of Peru.
I don’t agree about potatoes, especially sweet potatoes or beetroot. It is known that beetroot helps prevent diabetes so it’s a little simplistic to say that sweet foods shouldn’t be eaten and I believe that pumpkins are very good for you and they are sweet. In fact most vegetables are sweet, like carrots, cabbage and courgettes/zucchini. A doctor nearly destroyed my health by telling me not to eat these ‘sweet’ vegetables and bananas. Luckily, I realized in time that I was depleting my body of valuable potassium and magnesium and suffered terrible muscle spasms. There is a big difference between refined sugar and cane sugar for example.
The important thing is to eat organic food. Corn/maize and soya (which apparently should only be eaten fermented and in small quantities) are nearly all genetically modified and soya is found in most everything you buy in the supermarket (see Tarka the Duck’s thread).
I don’t know if this is true but I have read that pork and beef are not good for you. I personally think any meat that is not organic is pretty dangerous – added hormones, radiated or chemicals added to get rid of bacteria and animals fed all kinds of genetically modified foodstuffs or foodstuffs of animal origin.
I would strongly recommend, too, that people eat organic food. There is hardly anything in the supermarkets today that hasn’t been contaminated in some way or other.
No offence meant – just my point of view!
Bye!

I agree with most of your good foods except...cold cuts. They contain sodium nitrate which causes cancer according to http://www.naturalnews.com/011148.html.
Also there is a sweetener thats actually quite tasty and good for you called Just Like Sugar, it is a Natural Dietary Fiber obtained from Chicory Root, Calcium and Vitamin C.

Yes it was really hard to cut out the carbs. I was a carb-aholic. But when it hit me that I was feeling so much better from not eating it, it became easier to do. After 4 years of eating this way, if I do eat some bread or rice now, I can immediately feel how it makes my body feel. It feels all bloated and and weighed down. That is best way I can describe how it makes me feel.

Greetings Everyone: A great alternative sweetener is Stevia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stevia
It's a natural sweetener and has NO effects such as the artificial sweeteners. Can buy it at most health food stores. There is definitely good quality and bad quality products so a person will have to check them out and find the most pure form in their area.
Enjoy!

I agree with your assessment on cold cut, Kendall. Just for clarity, the list isn't mine but is from Dr. Carlson's video. There is much that I would add or change on his lists. Obviously his main concerns are weight and heart disease.
He doesn't mention seafood nor alcohol. Nor does he say anything about organic vs non or GMO foods. I would hope that somewhere on his site or in his book he states that one shouldn't eat anything unless it's organic and that seafood should be limited due to the mercury toxicity. And don't get me started on the poison that is unfermented soy.
Never-the-less, although the info above isn't complete, it is a good start.
