From the Washington Times comes this blatant bit of fear mongering: Feds concerned about hackers opening prison doors (http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2011/nov/4/feds-concerned-about-hackers-opening-prison-doors/)
It raises the specter of destroyed prisons and roving gangs of criminals assassinating political leaders.
Jeesh.
I'm suspecting it's another attempt at justifying more control of the Internet (hence my thread title.) But I suppose it could just be Mr. Strauchs and his daughter drumming up some good government contract business.

And in other news (unworthy of its own thread) - a light bulb broke in a West Virginia post office, and someone had a package of cookies in their locker.
The results: building evacuated for six hours, everyone quarantined, and robot sent in to secure the building: http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-501369_162-57318612/15-quarantined-in-powdery-package-blast-in-w.va/

Now if this isn't scraping the bottom of the damn barrel, I don't know what is.

Hmm...if stuxnet variants come back to bite them on the arse would that not be poetic justice...!?!!
Then of course there is the other probem of the solution not being viable due to putting multiple big red buttons at the disposal of people who can't rub two neurons together...
doh... that was the 'nuke it all' one...:p
From the hackers perspective just imagine the cudos if you worked out how to trigger the kill switch remotely then send via morse code the message 'Morons' by having the entire web go up and down accordingly...
