The way of Wyrd, by Brian Bates, published in 1983, is a fascinating book about Anglo Saxon spirituality, with lots of similarities to the writings of Carlos Castaneda; whom he met.
A novel based on a thousand year text found in the vaults of the British library, but reckoned by historians to reflect oral traditions stemming from many centuries earlier, that manuscript is a handbook of healing remedies, sacred ceremonies, and spiritual secrets of an indigenous shaman of ancient England - teachings for today from our ancient past.
This was a popular book amongst certain people when it came out, i wondered if any of you had ever read it, and what you thought. i particularly liked the leap into the abyss at the end of the book, which of course parallels Castanedas books, and gives an insight into Anglo Saxon shaman practices, which i always wondered about.
