Hello all. I've been working for Wal-Mart (the epitomy of Evil) for a few years now and can't take it anymore. It's not that I don't like dealing with people, it's just the atmosphere, company BS, the way they want us to treat the associates, etc.

There is a large Tooling/Refitting Corporation with facilities as well as the US Corporate Office within 5 miles of my house. My neighbor works there, and has for years, and loves it. I have a strong industrial background anyway, so I applied today.

My neighbor also put in a good word for me, so hopefully this transition won't take too long. The company is currently hiring and I have no trouble passing the typical drug test, so hopefully this will work out for me.

I will be so relieved - both spiritually and mentally - to get away from that Retail Evil Blue Monster. Don't ever work for a retail Evil like them, they are one of the main downfalls of America, America's Factories, and America's job market. The way they treat their employees, below-poverty wages, and sub-standard insurance/benefits should be illegal. I only took the job originally because it was convenient. How sorry I was.

Any Positive Energy that you guys/gals can send my way would greatly help with this matter, and would help me as well.

Thanks!

Be at peace with them, be well with yourself and manifest what it is that you want.

anklebiter, you have no idea how much i appreciate your post. i've been working in retail for a while now. it is truly a microcosm of the corporatcrappacy of the world. they treat the employees like dirt. it's all about the money. they don't care how they get it either. i deal with irate people every single day who are pissed that they have purchased something that works like nothing. in the store that i work at, there is daily aggravation with not only the customers, but also the asm's and other lead management postions. there is a constant push and shove to get credit applications, sign the customers up for reward cards that don't really reward them with anything. i know 4 women who have been at my store for 25 years, and corporate could care less about their loyalty. they would fire them in a minute if their credit ratio falls. there was an instance the other day where a manager called another co-worker a spic......... down right filfth. this 'co-worker' is now filing a major law suit regarding this issue. if i ever get out of retail, i'm running far, far, away. it's like the circus is in town everyday. and i never liked the circus, even as a kid.

best of luck with the new insight. i truly hope that it works out for you. retail is a dirty business. i'm sending you much positive energy, run with it.
regards, corson

WE cannot find ourselves anywhere we're not meant to be. We are there to learn the lessons, and once we see what we need to see, it's time to move on. Each job allows us to connect to so many people. When the systems go through their transition period, anklebiter, those that had been enslaved within the systems will need to turn to someone for support, guidance, and understanding. Who better to turn to than a former employee who understands the Behemoth, and has moved beyond it?

I often wonder why I have had to endure such jobs as public toilet cleaner and McDonald's burger turner. Yet I am not living this life for myself, but in compassion for those who are lost in the system. People like us give those within Wal-Mart and other big hungry multinational nasties a path of courage and and knowledge, a way through. We are the Pathmakers! We will make the transition so much smoother for so many because of our experiences in these ILGs (Illuminati Limitation Generators, or 'work').

Know that you are much loved for the time you have spent in Wal Mart. It is an invaluable service to those stuck within it's belly.

Thank you.

Right on, Brother!

Believe me, I don't like working for Corporate America any more than the rest. But, i'm stuck working for someone until I can get my own business up and going. Though my family and I live a minimalist lifestyle, we still have monthly bills and there's no way around that right now.
That being said, I can put more toward sustainable living and renewable energy with this new job since it will pay much more than I make now. It's a sacrifice now (harder work, more hours) but will pay off in the long run.

The company is currently hiring and I have no trouble passing the typical drug test, so hopefully this will work out for me.

I hope good fortune finds you on the path you have chosen!

Is it normal for companies to do drug tests in order to work there? There are some security sensitive positions that require this but very few others here ever require drug tests. Just curious.

Again, good luck!

Thanks, dAka. I find that often when we begin making nicnames for people and places, it's a sign that we have 'a handle' on them, or we've 'got their number'. As a society we are rapidly evolving beyond the outdated concepts of 'work' towards a new way of being and a new way of doing.

Believe it or not, here in the USA it is quite common, especially in the industrial/production industry (what's left of it). Even Wal-Mart requires you to pass a drug test in order to work there - that's how common it is these days.

Good luck to you anklebiter! We do not need to be the slaves of an invisible empire, and you had the courage to break free. I know how hard it can be to find the courage to make that choice.

I worked for the aviation industry for 10 years until the end of this summer. Then I quit. The corporate evil therein would shock you. Enough was enough.

Freedom to you, and good journeys!

Everything is relative.

Sometimes you have to laugh at life.

Hope this helps in a small way (and best of luck going forward on your career).

Won't go the "funny people at walmart" route ... perhaps you have seen "them" and why you wish to move on.
