Will the Native American Culture Die?

Reading the touching tribute to Red Crow, I was taken back to a question that I often ask myself.

When will the Native Americans make a comeback?

A culture that seems so rich, spiritual, enlightened. A culture that was all but destroyed. A culture that seems to be killing itself with it's casino's, alcohol and drug addiction.

When do they band together, say no to all of that and get back in touch with thier spirits?

My knowledge of such things is limited, but from what I know and have read it is such a beautiful culture, one that I envy in many ways, but seems to be rapidly dissapearing.

I hope I do not offend with any of this, I truly just would love to see a discusion about this. I would love to see their culture reemerge INSPITE of all that has been done to them.

Well, in a way, it´s already dead.

A couple of days I was watching the Dances with Wolves movie, Directors Cut, which is a very long extended version of the regular movie. I think you should watch it as well. :)

Anyway, while I was watching it I was thinking the same things, my friend.

Why the hell did the world had to "evolve" from the European model of civilization?????

the genocide of native indians is one of the worst pages of US history. sadly, it is the very funding of the US that depended on it (later on african slave trade). I still remember stories of blankets offered by colons to the natives, blankets which had been poisoned with small pox or other lethal pathogens.

First we destroyed their culture, and now their remnants have watched us destroy our own culture. Maybe the time for destruction is nearly over. Maybe it's time to help each other out of our mutual destruction.
