Hi Jack,
thanks for sharing.
I too had my first sighting on Monday night. It looked exactly like this!
It was just past midnight and quite far away. I called my son to have a look and we had a look through binoculars.
We could not make out clearly what shape it was, other than that it was a shape of some sort, emitting many colours. It was stationary for over an hour.

Anyway, not only did we see this, we also saw a line of red lights, that seemed to appear and disappear in the same spot.
This only lasted a few minutes but looked something like the red line of lights in the next video @ about 2:16 minutes.

I live in the middle of nowhere in Germany and Chinese lanterns are banned in our area. There is also no airport or military anywhere near us.
We thought about running for our camera but decided against it incase we missed the opportunity of seeing it come closer and it really was too far away.
Needless to say, I had great difficulty in sleeping. I was so overwhelmed with joy! :)

They emit beautiful colors, is this a characteristic of UFOs from outer space as opposed the ones built by USA/Nazi group and associates.
Jackovesk, I would like to say, how much I appreciate all the work you do for this site.
Bless you for sharing your interests.

Thank you Jackovesk for this post. To make a long story very short.

My wife spotted this 2 months ago(we live in Switzerland) in the NE region of the sky. Since then I have noticed two unique qualities of this object:

1 . When focusing on it, it sometimes moves to a distance where the different colors cannot be seen(violet, white, faint blue, green)

2. Most of the time, it has been observed in the NE evening sky. I say most because I actually saw it one clear morning around 4:45 AM also in the NE sky which clearly indicated that it was not a stellar object

Very interesting!

Due to the weather lately, I have not seen it in a week.

Thanks again.

I have observed this same object here in Brazil, about a week ago, at about 17:00.

It was exactly the same, apparently blinking several colors, however, I´m not sure if this is an UFO or a planet. I´ve watched it for about 20 minutes and it didn´t move. The light coming from planets and stars can vary among the spectrum of visually perceived colors, due to atmospheric refraction index changes.

I´m on the fence about this one, as I´ve seen it as well.

Does anyone know if there was a planet closer to us a couple of weeks ago?

Cheers,

Raf.

Personally I Do Not Believe Planets or Stars Can Emit Colors Like That! And Jupiter Is Pretty Close Right Now in Our Solar System.

Hi Raf,
I have a Skyscout. Jupiter is the brightest planet in the sky for the last month. In fact, Jupiter is almost at the plane as the object of discussion but it is more east than north when the skies are clear.

Thanks

No, they don´t actually emit different colors, of course, but atmospheric refraction changes can make us perceive their light with different colors of the visual spectrum (like colors of the rainbow), depending on several atmospheric factors, like temperature, air moisture, pollution gases, and many more...

So, there´s a big chance it might be Jupiter. When I observed it it was fixed on the sky, making no short-term perceivable movement, and it had the same characteristics of the object filmed above. This would also explain why many other persons saw the same object, from different parts of the world.

Cheers,

Raf.

It looks nice, what bothers me though is that it kind of stays stationary or "floats", I have never witnessed an alien craft in the sky, sure I've seen lots of UFO's, but those weren't spaceships from what I can tell, or maybe I am just way too skeptical to recognize one, even if it's waving and screaming at me: "Idiot! Over here! My god... She is blind, nm, let's get outta here", lol.

Anyway, what I thought, when I saw the video was that there are balloons (and kids toys) with LED flash lights attached to them (far fetched?), don't know how high they can go, but they do have hours of flash time and they emit bright lights from what I understand. There seems to be some dark ring around the lights in the video, almost like a casing, spins clockwise?

Maybe it was an alien craft, something intelligently maneuvered etc... But sure is one heck of a disco ball for a craft, lol. (And where can I get one of those, I wanna commute in a disco ball too).

Laura, I don´t think it´s toy or a hoax. It´s most probably Jupiter. I´ve heard and read many reports about this "color blinking static UFO" on the past weeks, from several parts of the world.

Cheers,

Raf.

By the way, I´ve just received this message from an amateur astronomer friend:

"Ontem Jupiter tinha a mostra seus 4 satelites.
Hoje vou trabalhar na fixaçao da maquina no telescopío pra ver se consigo fotografar melhor."

"Yesterday, Jupiter was showing his 4 satelites.
Today I´ll work on the recording camera fixation to the telescope, to see if I can take some good pictures".

This might explain what our friend, Ineffable Hitchhiker , described on post #2:

"We could not make out clearly what shape it was, other than that it was a shape of some sort, emitting many colours. It was stationary for over an hour.

No, it is not Jupiter, Raf.

The Object appears more North East and Jupiter is more East than the Object. I confirmed this manually and with the Sky Scout. I also saw this object in the morning while most of the other sitings were in the same position (NE) in the evening. It would be a good conclusion that it is not a planet or star if it was seen in almost the same position in the sky in the morning and in the evening. Planets and Stars do not do this due to the Earth's rotation.

Well, last time I saw this exact object, it was at 340° NW. I´m in Brazil.

Hmm. Very Interesting, Raf.

You are not in the same plane as I to see the object and Jupiter at the same time which leads to the remote possiblity that we are seeing perhaps 2 object in different parts of the planet.

Maybe its a UFO

Well, maybe it is!! However, I´ve been hearing so many reports about this thing, and due to it´s apparent stationary characteristics, I think it´s a planet, probably Jupiter. I think that if it was indeed a UFO, many amateur astronomers would have noticed.

From my experience watching UFOs, I´ve learned to only confirm if something is a UFO if it does at least one of these things:

-Moves very fast.
-Appears and disappears from nowhere.
-Make fast sharp turns and maneuvers.
-It has a perceivable shape.

I´ve seen hundreds of supposed UFOs, and a couple of real ones. Most things I´ve seen, both personally and in videos, are planes, comets, satellites, planets, chinese lanterns or toys with LEDs.

Of course, among these thousands of mistaken UFO reports, there are the real ones. They are out there, I´m sure of it, but I´m afraid that this is not the case.

Cheers,

Raf.

Well, I wouldn't call it a hoax either, since that applies the person with the cam/the guy who posted the video intended to fool other people watching that video.

I was just throwing the possibility out there for someone spotting someone else's balloon/toy in the sky and taking video of it.

Or it might be a planet. I don't have a telescope to check, where planets are, or proper knowledge of where Jupiter might be on a given date and time, since it's been sighted in so many countries, I assume? The position of it to Earth that is. I don't know. And I will repeat that as many times as I have to. I simply don't know.

I guess I am just having a funny day and wanted to share what I saw in the video and thought of it, it was a comedic relief. I'll try and edit that out for future, if desired. At least I thought it was funny, thinking of an alien flying in a disco ball, and that's a sincere remark, I'm not trying to make fun of anyone, sorry if it came out like that.
