Hello everyone.

Today I post about a phenomenon that you've all surely heard about called "Déjà Vu" (which is french meaning "already seen") thanks to a very famous movie called "Matrix" ^^.

I experience "Déjà Vu" sometimes and have always wondered what the hell it was.
I've had my last one today, a very strong one, my grand-uncle had a heart attack yesterday and I went to the hospital to see him today, he's being kept in the coma right now, his brain suffered a lack of oxygen for too long. When I was leaving and about to say goodbye to his wife, I had a strong feeling of "Déjà Vu", like I had seen this moment already, the moment when I say goodbye to his wife, it was feeling like I had dreamed it already.

I've had another "Déjà Vu" during the week and it is a phenomenon that I experience once in a while. Contrary to how it was shown in the movie "Matrix", to me it's not giving the feeling of "The same thing happening twice in a row", the feeling I have about it is that it's a moment I've had a dream about, generally it feels like it's something I've dreamed a while ago, like years ago.

It's a pretty strange feeling and I have nobody amongst the people I know who I feel I could talk about this to, so I talk about it here, I'd like to know if you avalon people ever experienced "Déjà Vu" and if you have an idea of what exactly this phenomenon could be, anyone having an explanation for it?

Hi Asyloth,

Try searching Google or YouTube for 'Anthony Peake deja vu'.
He offers some VERY interesting theories about the nature of this phenomenon, which you may find interesting.
Normally I'd provide links, but unfortunately I'm typing this on my phone and don't have that capability.
Good luck with your search for answers.......

I have experienced deja vu hundreds of times. I find it both mystifying and exciting. Sometimes a little spooky, depending on the context. It seems to come in clusters of mostly unrelated events. Every time, the feeling is very strong that I have lived that moment before and I know what is coming next.

Yeah, we can do that.

Many Times I read somewhere a long time ago that it means you are on the correct path.

What I think may be happening is that the usual gap (a fraction of a second) between perception and processing is bridged, for some reason, so perception and processing (interpretation of the perception by the brain) become almost or entirely simultaneous, creating the illusion of familiarity.

You may also want to read what Henri Bergson wrote about it.

It's a fascinating phenomenon, for sure.

It happens to me often too. Sometimes i go through periods where it happens more often then not. also its like i've dreamed it before.

I dont have anything for you to research or read about but i thought id just let you know i do it too :)

Most my intuition comes from my dreams and most of the deja vu is triggered after i see an object or something specific happens. Like for example ill see a red napkin fall off a table and then a conversation or something will happen that i feel ive heard or has happened before. I usually dont get it for normal everyday happenings, something heavily emotional (either negative or possitive, but usually what i see as negative) is usually associated with it.

i wish you the best with your grand uncle and hopes everything turns out alright.

peace

I totally disagree with that. If it is an illusion, then how come most of my déjà vu experiences come with the ability to predict future events with 100% accuracy?

Good description. When this kind of thing happens, for example, I know the exact words that are about to be said before they are spoken.

I wasn't going to say anything, Rob but you seem to have a song for every occasion.

It reminds me of a road-trip from Melbourne to Queensland with my kids, many years ago. Perhaps fifty times in one day, all it took was one word or phrase and I would start singing a song that tied in with the word or phrase. I drove them crazy after a while. Bwahahaaa. At least the kids were entertained and not fighting, for a change.

Hey Cjay,

Question. Outside of the deja vu scenario, do you ever feel that when you focus enough on what somebody is saying, or for example you are listening to a new song, you can almost say what they are going to say next before they even say it? If this is nonesense, then ignore it.. But I can do this but it's hard to explain.

Yes Phoenix, more often than déjà vu itself.

Precisely because perception and reading are simultaneous (or almost, the gap being too minuscule for even the fastest brain to perceive it), and we are simply not used to such processing speed. Our brains do not normally work that way.

Perhaps we're talking about a different phenomenon, but for the "classical" deja vu, when people suddenly feel "this has happened once before", it is characteristic that people THINK - or rather, feel - they could predict exactly what is going to happen next.... but they can't. They only "recognise" it AFTER it happens, if only milliseconds later.

Anyway, I would recommend anyone to read Bergson, regardless of what theories one may be partial to.
He is one of the most lucid researchers of anything human of all time, in my opinion.

LATER EDIT:

Since I foresee another absence, I thought it'd be nice to "finish" my contribution with this very famous poem that hinted - presumably - to the same interpretation that people yearn for when discussing this phenomenon, only much earlier than the Matrix.... and much more beautifully, in my opinion. :)

Sudden Light

I HAVE been here before,
But when or how I cannot tell:
I know the grass beyond the door,
The sweet keen smell,
The sighing sound, the lights around the shore. 5

You have been mine before,—
How long ago I may not know:
But just when at that swallow’s soar
Your neck turn’d so,
Some veil did fall,—I knew it all of yore.

Has this been thus before?
And shall not thus time’s eddying flight
Still with our lives our love restore
In death’s despite,
And day and night yield one delight once more?

Dante Gabriel Rossetti , writing in 1853 or 1854.

Hi Asyloth,

Deja Vu is something I have experienced many times. What I have come to learn about the phenomenon is that it is a way a showing you during pivotal times in your life that you are "on the path". By this I mean the path that you chose prior to this life in which certain events are planned for your life lessons. These plans can be changed as we go, because we do still have free will when returning for this life. So to have this just know that this is something you are meant to experience.

I know when I have these moments now they are even combined with a warm feeling to my solar plexus and sometimes oddly a certain taste. My last major deja vu was when I made a move that took a lot of hard thought and heart ache. When arriving at my new residence I was looking out a sliding glass door to the back yard when I had the Deja Vu moment. Also, the most amazing thing was during the time I was feeling this a Hawk came and landed on the deck I was looking out onto. Hawks for me are a spirit symbol, which made this an even more powerful experience.

So in short be aware and learn from this lesson you are going through. Ask yourself "what am I to learn here" and wait for that quiet whisper from within to tell you.

Asyloth-

Thank you for the post, most mystifying :)
In fact, just a minute in wrote that my deja vu experiences had some how seemed to have increased over the past few weeks.

I think deja vu experiences and dreams are somehow related.
We experience one when we are asleep and the other when we are awake.
Though in dreams we do not have a 'premonition' of the event, the process involved in the brain or wherever this happens from is the same.

It is almost like accessing a different dimension or the same dimension ahead of time.
I believe our subconscious mind has this ability and we are able t experience them now.

I also do not accept the scientific reasoning being a 'malfunction' of the brain or anything like that..
i guess you know why when you experience one and the feeling is real & you can tell whats gonna happen next :)

Deja vu is an interesting topic. But I believe it is us astral traveling into the future. Foreseeing things that are meant to be. And as Referee said.... it does mean we are on the right path. Another concept is that our Destiny is already mapped out and the deja vu's are just reminders because we wrote our own Destinies before we are born. Just thought I would throw those concepts out ;)

It's a fascinating phenomenon, for sure.

I have had this happen to me so many times in my life, I decided that I would test it.
So, when I get it I try to recall if I know the next scenes.
Most times, I do and it happens as I recall what I saw before.
I don't get it much anymore, but now I can sense things, such as the police for example.
When I am out on the road, I can sense they are around before I see them.
My theory is, that deja vu can be the beginnings of your sense of intuition or similar starting to activate.
