Someone brought up this on another thread about the nutjob pepper sprayer at Walmart on Black Friday. Plus it mentioned the grandfather who was body slammed to the floor. As I was researching Walmart, I accidentally came across this New York Daily News article that I'd like to share with everyone. See what you think:

Los Angeles police have yet to decide if they will charge a woman accused of using pepper spray on a shopping crowd at Walmart on Thanksgiving, the Los Angeles Times reported.

Investigators also declined to discuss her motive for doing it - whether she felt threatened by the crowd or merely wanted to clear people away so she could shop.

"We have her identity and we know who she is and where she is at. When appropriate action needs to be taken, we know where to find her," said Officer Bruce Borihanh, a police spokesman told CNN. "She's a suspect, but she's not booked or anything, so we're not releasing her name.

The unidentified woman, who turned herself into police on Friday night, was released as police continue to interview witnesses and investigate the case, which made international headlines.

Police said earlier that she was looking to beat shoppers to a discounted Xbox 360 set.

About 20 Walmart shoppers complained of burning eyes and sore throats after the incident, the Times reported.

The suspect, according to the report, paid for the Xbox before leaving the store.

The LAPD wasn't the only police department busy investigating a Black Friday incident at Walmart.

In Arizona, police said they were conducting an investigation into the arrest a 54-year-old man at one of the retail stores, CNN reported.

Jerald Newman was charged with shoplifting and resisting arrest and released Saturday. But his grandson, Nicholas Nava, told KNXV that his grandfather simply put the video game under his shirt to avoid protect it from other shoppers as they made their way to the register.

CNN reported that a police officer approached Nava and then eventually slammed him to the ground, leaving his face bloodied.

"We may have an independent agency conduct the inquiry, just to show transparency," a spokesman said.

Newman, meanwhile, has hired an attorney and plans on speaking with reporters later this week, CNN reported.

If her excuse was to move people out of the way so she could shop, I think it's pretty shabby. What would happen if all of us thought like this? There would be alot of injured people....

They are still deciding if there are charges to be pressed so she isn't off scott-free, though using pepper spray in a public environment without reason should come with compensation for all those affected at the very least.

This type of behaviour is dangerous and selfish and I feel it was a tactical strategy rather than feeling anxious in a crowd, because if she felt anxious being in large groups, then she should not have gone in the first place, therefore the attack was premeditated imho.

Didn't the report say it happened in a toney neighbourhood? If a full explanation for not charging her is not published, it will make people wonder if this isn't another case of 'who you know' or 'having friends in high places' letting her off.

I agree! As others have said, this woman could have been doing this to give the authorities the excuse to pass more legislation limiting people's rights!

Due to the baseless culture and lack of connection to fundamentals, the human body has managed to find it's own version of being connected to fundamentals. the body responded to the base impetus signals...and the mind followed suit. All channeled through the door of emotions.

In this case, the idea of fundamentals being displaced into shopping for shiny crap, instead of feeding the family.

Her instincts and his instincts were correct, but displaced in a surreal non reality.

Their bodies have made passionate survival sex moves on a plastic society rubber doll.

These are extreme examples and stick out of the forest of what we cal the norm...our norm...which is essentially the same as theirs.

My car is my horse, the gas station is my field of hay for feeding it, and the supermarket is my hunting range.

Underneath all of our so called civilization, the animal remains.

I bet dimes to doughnuts, a pushy lady like that, armed with a can of pepper spray was an off duty cop. She has more rights than we do.
