Travis Walton | Real-Life Alien Abduction Story & Spiritual Message
Published 3rd June 2019
On November 5, 1975, a group of loggers in the mountains of northeastern Arizona observed a strange, unusually bright light in the sky. One of those men, Travis Walton, recklessly left the safety of his truck to take a closer look. What happened next sent his companions fleeing in fear. When Travis failed to reappear, the men were suspected of his abduction. For five days authorities mounted a massive manhunt in search of Walton or his body. Walton eventually reappeared, disoriented and initially unable to tell the details of his terrifying encounter. His book Fire in the Sky provides an account of his experience. A major motion picture was also made with the same name.

Chandra X-Ray Observatory
Markarian 1216
Published 3rd June 2019
Astronomers have identified a galaxy called Markarian 1216 (Mrk 1216 for short) that has a large amount of dark matter at its core.
Markarian 1216 is an unusual type of galaxy that has managed to avoid merging with other galaxies over billions of years.
Dark matter accounts for about 85% of the matter in the universe, although it has only been detected indirectly.
X-rays from Chandra observed at different distances from Mrk 1216's center allowed astronomers to "weigh" the dark matter in the middle of the galaxy.
Scientists have used this data to trace the evolution of galaxies like Markarian 1216 back over billions of years.
Future studies of this galaxy may provide the opportunity to test ideas about the nature of dark matter.
OM5pb8PoV9g
Isolated for billions of years, a galaxy with more dark matter packed into its core than expected has been identified by astronomers using data from NASA's Chandra X-ray Observatory.
The galaxy, known as Markarian 1216, contains stars that are within 10% the age of the universe. In other words, the stars are almost as old as the universe itself. Scientists have found that Markarian 1216 has gone through a different evolution than typical galaxies. This includes dark matter that, through gravity, holds the galaxy together. Dark matter is a mysterious substance that accounts for about 85% of the matter in the universe, yet does not give off or reflect light. Therefore, scientists have only been able to detect it indirectly so far, making it a challenge to learn about.
Markarian 1216 belongs to a family of elliptically shaped galaxies that are more densely packed with stars in their centers than most other galaxies. Astronomers think they have descended from reddish, compact galaxies called "red nuggets" that formed about a billion years after the Big Bang, but then stalled in their growth about 10 billion years ago.
If this explanation is correct, then the dark matter in Markarian 1216 and its galactic cousins should be tightly packed. To test this idea for the first time, a pair of astronomers studied the X-ray brightness and temperature of hot gas from Chandra at different distances from Markarian 1216's center. This allowed them to, in a sense, weigh, how much dark matter exists in the middle of the galaxy.
The researchers found a high concentration of dark matter in the center of Markarian 1216, confirming that Markarian 1216 descended from a red nugget galaxy. This tells us about the evolution of Mrk 1216 going back in time about ten billion years. Further studies of this galaxy may provide astronomers with the opportunity to test ideas about the nature of dark matter.

Just How Tough Is Earth Life? Tough Enough To Go Space And Still Thrive

Every time we send a spacecraft to another world, our Earth-based lifeforms are going with us. No matter how well we try to keep them clean, a few stowaways will always come along for the ride.
You’d think that years in the cold hard vacuum of space, suffering extreme temperature changes, and receiving brutal doses of radiation would be all it takes to sterilize any life caught on the outside of a lander or rover headed to Mars or Europa.
Well, think again. Life just demonstrated that it’s surprisingly ready to make the journey, and happy to get back to work the moment conditions improve.

Our Universe Has Antimatter Partner on the Other Side of the Big Bang, Say Physicists
Published 3rd June 2019
https://physicsworld.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/01/CPT-universe.png
Our universe could be the mirror image of an antimatter universe extending backwards in time before the Big Bang. So claim physicists in Canada, who have devised a new cosmological model positing the existence of an “antiuniverse” which, paired to our own, preserves a fundamental rule of physics called CPT symmetry. The researchers still need to work out many details of their theory, but they say it naturally explains the existence of dark matter.
Standard cosmological models tell us that the universe – space, time and mass/energy – exploded into existence some 14 billion years ago and has since expanded and cooled, leading to the progressive formation of subatomic particles, atoms, stars and planets.

“This is the first unambiguous detection of a two-planet system carving a disk gap,” said Julien Girard of the Space Telescope Science Institute in Baltimore, Maryland.
The host star, known as PDS 70, is located about 370 light-years from Earth. The young 6-million-year-old star is slightly smaller and less massive than our Sun, and is still accreting gas. It is surrounded by a disk of gas and dust that has a large gap extending from about 1.9 to 3.8 billion miles.

Vibrant Red Sprites Jets & Mysterious Green Afterglow
Published 5th June 2019
Pecos Hank with Red sprites, secondary jets and newly discovered "green afterglow" events appearing to be triggered by red sprites. A dozen vibrant red sprites were recorded on this evening and only two events had this green afterglow.
Current "Green Afterglow" Theories
Paul Smith,
I'm leaning towards it being an interaction with the airglow layer which is lowered due to gravity waves. I know that in heavy thunderstorms , gravity waves form in the airglow layer with deeper peaks and troughs and that the strongest nightglow emissions occur mostly in a relatively thin layer of atmosphere between 85 and 95 kilometers (53 and 60 miles) above the Earth’s surface. Little emission occurs below this layer since there’s a higher concentration of molecules, allowing for dissipation of chemical energy (via collisions rather than light production). Likewise, little emission occurs above that layer because the atmospheric density is so low that there are too few light-emitting reactions to yield an appreciable amount of light. I think that gravity waves perhaps caused deeper troughs pushing this layer of atmosphere associated with airglow down enough to interact with the sprite tops. Then it's a matter of only the most energetic sprites triggered within this trough produce the effect. It would explain why not all bright sprites have this and how not all tips have it in one bright event. Essentially like a tiger elve version of a sprite. Tiger-sprite. My pic of gravity waves in Texas airglow shows similar color.
Austin Feathers,
A plasma is typically a hot soup of ions and electrons which are thermalized (equal in temperature to the environment) and STUPID hot. But it's possible for certain conditions (radio frequency heating or extremely rapid electrical discharges, like in a sprite) for only electrons in a plasma to become thermalized, while ions and neutral atoms remain relatively cold. In nerdspeak this is a nonthermal plasma or non-equilibrium plasma. Since electrons have an extremely tiny mass, a nonthermal plasma stores little heat energy and has a very high extinction rate (becomes cold and nonconductive very quickly, looking more like a "flash"). What I think has happened here is a hot region of the sprite (a largely nonthermal plasma) has persisted for a period of time long enough to heat and partially thermalize much heavier ions and neutral atoms in the mesosphere. Ion extinction rates for these heavier species (looks like oxygen ions from the color) are much lower because they store a lot of thermal energy, so the glow persists much longer. Best guess at least!

The Alchemy of Neutron Star Collisions
Published 6th June 2019
Carl Sagan’s famous words: “We are star stuff” refers to a mind-blowing idea – that most atomic nuclei in our bodies were created in the nuclear furnace and the explosive deaths of stars that lived in the ancient universe. In recent years it’s become clear that the truth is even more mind-blowing. Many heavy elements - includes most precious metals - were produced in an even more spectacular event: the collision of neutron stars. In fact, according to a recent study most of the Earth’s supply of these elements was created in a single neutron star merger that took place near our Sun’s birth nebula 80 million years ago before Earth formed.
To quote Matt
"When I was in astrophysicist school they taught us that all of the elements of the periodic table between carbon and iron were produced in onion shells by nuclear fusion in the cores of very massive stars during the last phases of their lives. And that the elements heavier than iron were synthesized in the following supernova explosion. That latter process is well understood – the star’s dead core collapses and protons are converted to neutrons. The surrounding shells ricochet outwards, along with a layer of the iron and nickel core. The latter is blasted by a wave of neutrons, which get rammed into the escaping nuclei. Some of those captured neutrons convert back to protons and so elements all the way up the periodic table can be made. This is the rapid neutron capture or r-process. The rapid part is because neutrons are captured faster than nuclei can decay, making it possible to build very heavy nuclei."

In this Discourse David Talbott extends his review of the ancient “labyrinth" theme, suggesting that a concrete explanation could lie within our reach: "It should go without saying that, in the absence of a concrete referent, such storytelling will appear to have no believable interpretation. But if we tentatively grant the presence of a natural provocation in the ancient sky, the story elements will be EXPECTED, even when a self-serving local variant fails to convince us.”

Dr. Miguel Alcubierre | Can We Travel Faster Than Light?
Published 6th June 2019
Dr. Miguel Alcubierre was inspired by Star Trek the Next Generation's example of warp drive faster than light technology on the starship Enterprise. In 1994 he wrote a paper on how we could bend and warp space and time to travel faster than light within the rules of Einstein's general relativity. NASA has and is currently exploring if it is possible to bend the fabric of space and achieve hyper fast space travel with the Eagle Works lab. John Michael Godier spoke with Dr. Miguel Alcubierre on the feasibility of the Alcubierre warp drive and if there has been any developments within physics, including the use of dark matter or dark energy, and anti-gravity, to be able to make this possible.

This was always a controversial finding, back in SFN 226 I reported that the group who found Dragonfly 44 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xMfwInmYI9o), an ultra diffuse galaxy with very little dark matter in it, had also taken a closer look at another galaxy, NGC1052-DF2 and wrote a paper, in Nature of all places, announcing that according to their observations, this galaxy rotated just like a galaxy would if it had no dark matter at all in it.

News Conference | NASA Opens International Space Station to Commercial Opportunities
Published 7th June 2019
During a June 7 news conference at Nasdaq in New York City, NASA announced that the International Space Station is now open for commercial business. A new policy provides the opportunity for up to two short-duration private astronaut missions to the space station beginning as early as 2020, if the market supports it. The policy also, for the first time, includes prices for use of U.S. government resources to pursue commercial and marketing activities aboard the station. The agency’s goal is to foster a robust ecosystem in low-Earth orbit through which it can purchase services as one of many customers. This will allow NASA to focus resources on its Artemis missions to land the first woman and next man on the Moon by 2024.

In recent years, the world has witnessed a sharp increase in the volume of investments in space activities, the spheres of application of its results and the number of participants. This raises a number of questions about the rules of the game in space. What is the distribution of roles between the private sector and the state in the leading space powers? How will national and international regulation change as the load on near-Earth space increases? What are the incentives and barriers to attracting the private sector to the space industry? What are the prospects for attracting extrabudgetary investments in the space sector in Russia and abroad, taking into account the specifics of creating space technology? How to ensure high efficiency of investments? When is the public-private partnership in the field of space activity most effective?

Exoplanet discoveries seem to be rolling in practically every day now; we’re getting really good at discovering alien worlds orbiting alien stars. The count right now stands at about 4,000 such planets discovered, which is incredible, given that the first one was only found in 1992!
Many different methods are used to discover them (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7ATtD8x7vV0), but one of the most impressive is direct imaging: Literally, taking an image of the planet next to its star. That is quite a feat, since a star can easily be a billion times brighter than a planet.

Cmdr. David Fravor | Tic Tac UFO : An Exclusive Interview With the Pilot Who Chased It
Published 1st June 2019
Cmdr. David Fravor is one of the most experienced fighter pilots in American history. In 2004 he engaged a UFO with his fighter jet. This close-encounter has become known around the world as the “TIC TAC” UFO event series. The US Government has confirmed the account - with video evidence.
Unidentified craft of unknown origin and intent are flying in our airspace with impunity. Our most advanced weapons and tracking systems are rendered powerless against them. We don’t know who built them; we don’t know who operates them.
Events like this are increasing globally - and the world is now being told.
The UFO presence is no longer in the realm of mythology. They are here.
TIC TAC UFO EVENT SERIES BACKGROUND:
Cmdr. Fravor is a badass Top Gun fighter pilot, and in 2004, the Commanding Officer of VFA-41 / the Black Aces. On November 14th of that year, The Nimitz Carrier Strike Group was preparing for deployment to the Arabian Sea. About 100 miles S/W off the coast of San Diego, routine pre-deployment workups were underway. It was 70 Degrees with clear skies, and an average wind speed of 3 mph. But this wasn’t a typical day.
Starting on November 10th the USS Princeton had been detecting multiple AAVs -Anomalous Aerospace Vehicles (UFOs) - operating in and around the vicinity of the Strike Group. The vehicles of unknown origin and function were tracked on radar, with returns descending from far above the radar’s scan volume - somewhere higher than 80,000 ft. Seemingly from outer-space, the targets would drop from above 80,000 ft to hover roughly 50 ft above the water in a matter of seconds; an impossibly fast rate of decent. And from what I’ve been told, at ICBM trajectories. This unique flight signature got the attention of radar operators and controllers of other observation platforms.
On November 14th, 2004 Cmdr. Fravor was flying a F/A-18F Super Hornet when he received orders to intercept an unidentified contact. This was not a drill or a simulation - this was real-world tasking.
Cmdr. Fravor was vectored to the location of the anomalous contact. He observed the craft visually, and described it as being “about 44 ft in length, solid white and oblong - similar to the shape of a TIC TAC”. The craft appeared to be “docking” with a larger USO (Unidentified Submerged Object), sitting just below the surface of the water. The USO appeared “cross-shaped”, and seemed to be causing a circular disturbance on the surface of the water. At some point the TIC TAC UFO “noticed” Cmdr. Fravor… so he decided to go after it.
He made an aggressive decent in pursuit of the UFO; with intent to engage. It suddenly began “mirroring” Cmdr. Fravor’s craft - before shooting off at an “impossible” speed.
Within less than 120 seconds the UFO was picked up on radar again - but at another rendezvous point - over sixty-miles away.
The UFO outmaneuvered anything imaginable by modern human technology. It also avoided contact with our advanced warfare defense systems. At one point, when filmed on a military FLIR (Forward Facing Infrared) imagery system - it “actively jammed” our most sophisticated weapons and tracking technology.
This craft - of undetermined origin and intent - displayed flight characteristics far beyond current propulsion technology known to man (or even understood within our current model of physics). It had no wings, rudder, tail-number or rotors. There were no heat signatures, plumes or exhaust. This was not a reactionary propulsion system; it was something else.
It is widely agreed by those with access to the data, that this craft was not of Earthly design; that it was gravitationally propelled, and was under intelligent control by someone. And it wasn’t alone.
The most astonishing thing about its maneuverability was its apparent disregard for the laws of inertia. It moved “like a ping-pong ball in an empty glass”, said Cmdr. Fravor. It appeared to defy gravity, space and time.
This event has become one of the best documented (and most important) UFO close-encounter cases in history.
Cmdr. Fravor said this was his “first and only” public appearance… we are lucky to have his testimony on public record in this way.

A combined historical and scientific approach is applied to ancient reports of what might today be called unidentified flying objects(UFOs). Many conventionally explicable phenomena can be weeded out, leaving a small residue of puzzling reports. These fall neatly into the same categories as modern UFO reports, suggesting that the UFO phenomenon, whatever it may be due to, has not changed much over two millennia.

The Elongated Skulls Of Paracas Peru & Their DNA
Published 8th June 2019
Recent and ongoing DNA tests reveal that the elongated-skull people of ancient Peru were not indigenous to South America and potentially migrated from the Black Sea and Crimea over 3000 years ago. This data shatters the belief that all pre-Columbian people came across the Bering Land Bridge some 12000 or so years ago before migrating southward. Also, medical examination of the skulls of the Paracas people shows that physical and genetic anomalies clearly indicate that they were not Homo sapiens. Additionally, DNA evidence shows that these people had red hair, light-colored skin, and likely green or blue eyes. Also, they were at least 6 inches taller than most Native Peruvians and had long thin necks. At the forefront of these scientific breakthroughs is author and researcher Brien Foerster, who will be leading us through the science of these mysterious ancient Peruvians.

A scarce two decades ago, the idea of other worlds around other stars, inhabited by other beings, lived in the realms of philosophy and science fiction. And yet here we stand today, counting these distant planets in the thousands, and slowly peering down through their atmospheres to answer questions about their habitability. It is staggering to think that this exoplanet revolution is happening in our lifetimes — that we will be remembered as the generation that discovered other worlds. The question now becomes, will we also be the first ones to find life in the universe beyond Earth?

Physicists Debate Hawking’s Idea That the Universe Had No Beginning

In 1981, many of the world’s leading cosmologists gathered at the Pontifical Academy of Sciences, a vestige of the coupled lineages of science and theology located in an elegant villa in the gardens of the Vatican. Stephen Hawking chose the august setting to present what he would later regard as his most important idea: a proposal about how the universe could have arisen from nothing.
Before Hawking’s talk, all cosmological origin stories, scientific or theological, had invited the rejoinder, “What happened before that?” The Big Bang theory, for instance — pioneered 50 years before Hawking’s lecture by the Belgian physicist and Catholic priest Georges Lemaître, who later served as president of the Vatican’s academy of sciences — rewinds the expansion of the universe back to a hot, dense bundle of energy. But where did the initial energy come from?

In this video, we focus on the first moon mission, Luna 1, NASA Pioneer Program to go to the Moon, Luna 2, and Luna 3. These were all missions intended to go to the Moon. At the time, the Soviet Union had launched the first satellite into orbit, Sputnik 1. This event started what we now know today as the Space Race. One of the goals for the early Space Race was to go to the Moon. NASA Pioneer Program and the Soviet Luna Program both tried to be the first Moon flyby, first Moon Impactor, first gravity assist, and take images of the surface. During the Early Space Race, the Soviet Union was ahead in both launch capabilities and overall control of their rockets. With Yuri Gagarin being the first man in space, and them achieving most challenges around the Moon, NASA needed to catch up.

Heracles
Published 9th June 2019
Overview of the Heracles mission. We are leading an alliance of international space agencies to prepare a robotic mission to the Moon to retrieve samples and return them to Earth.
The video shows a launch on an Ariane 6 rocket, separation from the rocket boosters over Earth and a transfer to the Moon.
The Heracles lander will target a previously unexplored region near the lunar South Pole as an interesting area for researchers. A lander with a rover inside and ascent module on top will land there.
Monitored and controlled from the lunar Gateway, the rover will scout the terrain in preparation for the future arrival of astronauts, and collect samples.
The ascent module will take off from the surface and fly to the Gateway with the samples taken by the rover.
When the ascent module carrying the sample container arrives, the Gateway’s robotic arm will capture it and extract the sample container. The sample container will be received by the astronauts via a science airlock and pack it in NASA’s Orion spacecraft that is powered by the European Service Module.
Orion will fly to Earth with astronauts and land with the Heracles lunar samples for analysis in the best laboratories on Earth.
Other goals of the mission include testing new hardware, demonstrating technology and gaining experience in operations while strengthening international partnerships in exploration. Its development will provide an Ariane 64-based lunar cargo lander available for commercialisation by European and partners’ industry.
Heracles is an international programme to use the Gateway to the fullest and deliver samples to scientists on Earth using new technology that is more capable and lighter than previous missions.

AAPC 2019 | Robert Powell & Peter Reali | USS Nimitz Strike Group 2004 Incident
Published 9th June 2019
Presentation Abstract:
On November 14th of 2004, the U.S. Navy’s Carrier Strike Group Eleven (CSG 11), including the USS Nimitz nuclear aircraft carrier and the USS Princeton missile cruiser, were conducting a training exercise off the coast of southern California when the Navy’s radar systems detected as many as 20 anomalous aerial vehicles (AAV). These AAVs were deemed a safety hazard to an upcoming air exercise and the Captain of the USS Princeton ordered an interception with two F/A-18F Navy jets. This paper examines the publicly available subset of these data: Eyewitness information from the pilots and radar operators; Freedom of Information Act releases of four navy documents; and a Defense Intelligence Agency released video taken by an F/A-18F jet using an AN/ASQ-228 Advanced Targeting Forward Looking Infrared (ATFLIR). The release of all navy records associated with this incident to enable a full, scientific and open investigation is strongly recommended.

Recorded 22nd May & Published 10th June 2019
Debashish Banerji, PhD, is Haridas Chaudhuri Professor of Indian Philosophies and Cultures and Chairman of the East West Psychology Department at the California Institute of Integral Studies in San Francisco. He is author of Seven Quartets of Becoming: A Transformative Yoga Psychology Based on the Diaries of Sri Aurobindo and also The Alternative Nation of Abanindranath Tagore, a book about his great grandfather. He edited an anthology about his great uncle, Rabindranath Tagore in the Twenty-First Century. His newest anthology is titled Critical Posthumanism and Planetary Futures.
Here he discusses the cosmology inherent in what is arguably the world's oldest religious scripture, aspects of which are surprisingly modern. He points out that the Vedas share many Indo-European traits. So, the Vedic pantheon is similar to the Greek. He refers to hymns celebrating the use of a mysterious entheogen known as "Soma". He elaborates upon the role of sacrifice in ancient India. He also notes that this ancient scripture can be viewed in a psychological context.

May 2019 : Earth Changes Summary
Published 9th June 2019
Winter is coming... In May! The sun has been spotless for 19 consecutive days - almost 3 full weeks, could this be one of the many signals of beginning of a new ice age, mini....or maxi?
May 2019 became yet another portent of what may be to come in the not so distant future for most of the world: sheets of rain, floods, massive hail, plunging temperatures, unseasonalable snow, damaged and failed crops, significant earthquakes, tornados and more volcano eruptions.
Heavy rains and widespread floods hit most of the US Midwest, parts of Europe, Asia and the Middle East.
In the US, the Mississippi river overflowed due to heavy rains, breaking historical records. At least three people died, and tens of thousands have been displaced.
In Europe, Germany and Austria received over 1 month's worth of rain that flooded streets and disrupted travel. While the Middle East saw flash floods leaving dozens dead, houses destroyed and streets wiped out. In China torrential rains turned deadly with over 200,000 affected.
Unseasonable snow also continued in May, with heavy blankets covering the Midwest and western US, with parts of Europe also affected, resulting in delayed planting and damaged crops. Meanwhile in Australia early snow falls dumped snow right across the country.
The Ring of Fire remained active this May with increased volcanic activity and a 6.2 Mag earthquake in El Salvador sparking panic and tsunami warnings. Peru was also rocked by a huge 8.0 Mag earthquake that was felt as far as Brazil, leaving one dead and several injured.
All that, and more, in this month's SOTT Earth Changes Summary...

Dr. Paige Godfrey | By Jove, It's Opposition Time
Published 10th June 2019
Join astrophysicist Dr. Paige Godfrey on Monday, June 10 beginning at 8 p.m. EDT (00:00UTC) for one of our favorite astronomical events of the year --- the mighty gas giant Jupiter at opposition.
Our host will explain what we are seeing through our telescopes at both the Canary Islands and Chile observatories as we focus on our Solar System’s largest planet throughout the night.
Being in opposition means that Earth will pass between Jupiter and the Sun and we will get one of the closest and longest looks we have of the planet all year as it is visible all night long.
Jupiter won’t be the only focus. The last time Slooh covered this event on April 7, 2017, there were only 67 known moons orbiting Jupiter. Today we know of at least 79, and the Galilean satellites, the four largest moons Io, Europa, Ganymede and Calisto will be part of the show as well. Remember that the enormity and brightness of Jupiter make its moons appear tiny in comparison, but these objects are some of the largest known bodies after the Sun and planets in our Solar System. We will be able to see all four moons as they orbit the planet, with Io (the closest moon) passing behind Jupiter during the second half of the night (known as an occultation).
Jupiter makes one complete rotation on its axis in just under ten hours (a Jovian day), so this makes for a quickly changing backdrop and allows Slooh’s experts to explain many of the Jovian features we will see that night, including the largest storm in the Solar System - the Great Red Spot.
By the end of the night, members will be able to map the entire surface of the planet using the images they capture from the Chile telescopes.

Mass Anomaly Detected Under the Moon's Largest Crater
Published 10th June 2019

A mysterious large mass of material has been discovered beneath the largest crater in our solar system—the Moon's South Pole-Aitken basin—and may contain metal from the asteroid that crashed into the Moon and formed the crater, according to a Baylor University study.
"Imagine taking a pile of metal five times larger than the Big Island of Hawaii and burying it underground. That's roughly how much unexpected mass we detected," said lead author Peter B. James, Ph.D., assistant professor of planetary geophysics in Baylor's College of Arts & Sciences.

How Space Triggers Herpes in Astronauts
Published 10th June 2019
The herpes simplex virus can hide deep in your DNA, evading your immune system for years, and sometimes make it to space by hitching onto the backs of astronauts and reactivating on the ISS. What is it about space that causes its comeback?

Herpes Virus Reactivation in Astronauts During Spaceflight and Its Application on Earth

"There is increasing evidence to suggest that these spaceflight-associated stressors chronically amplify the release of stress hormones, which negatively affects the immune system, especially the adaptive immune system facilitating latent herpes virus reactivation during and after spaceflight. Increased levels of salivary, plasma and urinary stress hormones such as cortisol and catecholamines commonly accompany spaceflight"

"With regard to future therapies, current inhibitors for pathways such as MAPK/NF-κB are unspecific, as they inhibit activity in both host and infected cells. We propose that a strategy for effective antiviral therapies would be to design specifically regulated inhibitors that do not lower signaling below functional physiological levels. By doing so, we can ensure that the activity of such signaling molecules is not reduced below threshold levels in uninfected or tumor cells. "

From 1957 to 1961, the United States turned its attention to space. The National Advisory Committee for Aeronautics became the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). The Army launched our first satellite, Explorer, with its Redstone rocket, and the Navy followed with its Vanguard system, then began developing the Polaris submarine-launched ballistic missiles (SLBMs). The Air Force was building the Thor, Atlas and Titan missiles, initially as intermediate range or intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBMs) for delivering nuclear warheads. Then, unknown to most of us, the National Reconnaissance Office (NRO) was created to use the best missiles to put intelligence-gathering satellites into space.
As a 7th grade student learning about this, I wondered, who is really in charge of U.S. space operations?

Space News | Eugene Bagashov | Birkeland Currents in Space : An Analysis
Published 29th May 2019
In the 21st century, with increasing frequency astronomical literature recognizes a long-taboo subject — the existence of electric currents in space: from the electrical Earth-Sun connection, to the electric currents connecting the gas giant planets to their respective moons, to the vast cosmic jets of active galactic nuclei.
Yet these recognitions overwhelmingly hold to ideas of strange gravitational and magnetic processes producing electric currents in kinds of closed systems. But what of the overwhelming evidence for the electrical circuitry connecting celestial objects and driving countless astrophysical phenomena?
Today, in part one of his four-part presentation physicist Eugene Bagashov begins outlining the research that he and several others in the Electric Universe community have been conducting into this question, based on retired Professor Donald Scott’s mathematical modeling of the structure of a type of electric current called a Birkeland current.

Space News | Eugene Bagashov | Birkeland Currents – Cosmic Distance & Other Puzzles
Published 12th June 2019
In this episode we delve more deeply into a highly promising ongoing investigation in the Electric Universe community. Previously, physicist Eugene Bagashov introduced the analysis he and several others in the EU community have conducted into the evidence for the pervasiveness of a type of electric current, called a Birkeland current within or nearby our cosmic neighborhood. Of course, when electric currents can’t be directly measured by space probes, the task of inferring their existence in space is complicated. Eugene and his colleagues have followed Dr. Donald Scott’s model of the structure of a Birkeland current. In part two of this four-part presentation, Eugene outlines in finer detail what he and his colleagues have found to date.

Hearing | Discovery on the Frontiers of Space: Exploring NASA’s Science Mission
Published 11th June 2019
Today, NASA’s Science Mission Directorate represents a $6.9 billion investment that funds space-based and suborbital science missions, ground-based research, data analysis, and technology development. These elements support NASA’s programs focused on planetary science, Earth science and applications, astrophysics, and heliophysics—the study of the Sun and its interactions with Earth and the solar system.
Through these programs, scientists are seeking answers to fundamental questions:
What is dark energy and, how and why is the Universe expanding, and at what rate?
How have the many chemical and physical processes that shaped the solar system evolved and interacted over time?
What are the structure, function, and biodiversity of Earth’s ecosystems, and how and why are they changing in time and space?
What are the origins of the Sun’s activity and how can we predict variations in the space environment?
In pursuing answers to these and other questions, NASA’s scientific findings, increasingly, become interwoven into our everyday lives—from decisions to reroute aircraft due to solar activity and space weather, to surveying the skies for potentially harmful near-Earth asteroids, to using ocean color and temperature maps for commercial fishery forecasting, or in using satellite data to assess the impacts of our changing climate, and much more.
Through an organized, science community-led process known as the “decadal surveys,” NASA’s Science Mission Directorate has benefited from a systematic approach to setting priorities that guide NASA’s planetary, heliophysics, astrophysics, and Earth science programs over ten-year periods. Not only do the decadal surveys guide the content of NASA’s science programs, they also help us commit to the highest priorities identified by the science community. The decadal surveys keep us honest and focused on top priorities when funding constraints or competing interests arise.
However, consistently following and implementing decadal priorities has not always been easy. The complexity involved in ambitious, large-scale missions has led, in some cases, to significant cost and schedule growth, so we must be vigilant in ensuring that NASA is as innovative in program and cost management as it is in advancing scientific discovery.
How can NASA and the community both encourage ambitious, breakthrough science while minimizing the unanticipated costs and delays that may come with pushing the edges of innovation? And must pushing the edges of innovation and discovery always be equated to large and expensive missions? Or can the use of small satellites and cubesats, and hosted payloads, where appropriate, also help us acquire scientific observations and measurements at lower cost?

Professor Jo Dunkley | Our Universe & How It Works
Published 12th June 2019
Most of us have heard of black holes and supernovas, galaxies and the Big Bang. But few of us understand more than the bare facts about the universe we call home. What is really out there? How did it all begin? Where are we going? Award-winning astrophysicist and Professor of Physics at Princeton University, Jo Dunkley traces the evolution of the Universe from the Big Bang fourteen billion years ago, past the birth of the Sun and our planets, to today and beyond. She explains cutting-edge debates about such perplexing phenomena as the accelerating expansion of the universe and the possibility that our universe is only one of many.

Space News | Stupendous Electric Currents Connect Galaxy Clusters
Published 14th June 2019
A new scientific discovery provides stunning confirmation of a foundational tenet of the Electric Universe and plasma cosmology. A team of scientists has discovered a vast radio-emitting filament of plasma which stretches across 10 million light-years, connecting two clusters of galaxies, called Abell 0399 and 0401.
The filament also marks the first time scientists have found a magnetic field connecting two galactic clusters. The radio emission the filament emits is synchrotron radiation, which the Electric Universe theory proposes is produced by spiraling electrons along an intergalactic Birkeland current.
In this episode, we discuss why this discovery affirms what must be true in an Electric Universe – there are no islands in space.

Schrodinger's Cat, Can it be saved?
A group of Yale researchers made quantum physics news by figuring out how to catch and save Schrödinger’s cat. A symbol of quantum superposition and unpredictability. Through observations they are able to anticipate its quantum jumps and act in real time to save it from proverbial doom.
This episode goes over it in detail but, Schrödinger’s cat explained briefly, it is the paradox used to illustrate the concept of superposition and quantum jumps and unpredictability in quantum physics.
John Michael Godier spoke with Yale’s Dr. Zlatko Minev and he explained what this new experiment and paper is, as well as how quantum physics works. He also discussed how this relates to Einstein’s quantum theory as well as if this will lead to new and exciting developments within the field of quantum mechanics and for the field of quantum computers 2019 and beyond.

They take us from the revelations of people like memory metal witness June Crane to the incredible and moving testimony of “Black Mac” Magruder. On the way, they discuss people like General Arthur Exon, who was a family friend of Whitley’s, who he introduced to the authors.
They also discuss the possible reasons that new UFO information is being bled out into public awareness now, and how this could turn out to be something other than what it seems, and the dangers inherent in that.

Stargates of the Ancients
Published 14th June 2019
The ancient record is replete with stories about stargates and dimensional portals to other realms. The Sumerians, Egyptians, Native Americans, Mayans and many more ancient cultures all record accounts of some type of device that enables inter-stellar or inter dimensional travel through space and time. Most mainstream academics dismiss these accounts as pure myth and fail to apply any worthwhile analysis. Instead, they claim these mysterious stories are nothing more than the result of our ancient ancestors’ very active imaginations. They summarily dismiss even the possibility of the existence of such technology in order to keep their own historical paradigm intact. But, even within their own world of academia, these critics have a formidable foe – the theoretical physicist.

Gian Quasar | Investigating UFO's, Cold Cases & The Bermuda Triangle
Published 14th June 2019
For 29 years Gian J. Quasar has investigated the world of the unknown, unseen, mysterious and macabre— unexplained disappearances, cryptids, UFOs, claims of the occult, ancient legends, and the most undeniable and compelling, the hunt for human predators: serial killers.
Quasar, however, is neither the eager believer nor the humbug debunker. It is because these topics became surrounded by a cottage industry of endless myth and folklore that he entered the fray. His purpose was to simply find the truth for himself. Yet he does not tread in this dangerous world with the extemporanea of popular journalism. He employs the tools used in History, coining the term ‘investigative historian.’
Quasar’s name (under whatever pronunciation) has become synonymous with the Bermuda Triangle. The subject lay dormant for 20 years until he presented the result of 9 years of investigation on the web in 1999. Thereafter McGraw-Hill rushed his first book Into the Bermuda Triangle to publication in 2003.

Normalcy bias and apathy continue to rule the day for the majority of populations in first world industrialized militarized nations, most especially the United States. As biosphere and societal collapse accelerate, few are yet willing to face or acknowledge what is unfolding on the wider horizon. How much longer can mainstream media propaganda maintain the facade of normalcy? Can populations be awakened in time to make a difference?
The challenges we collectively face are immense, but not yet impossible to alter in the right direction. All who are awake and aware are needed in the desperate effort to fully expose the atrocities in our skies and on countless other fronts.

Dane Wigington | Are We Approaching Zero Hour?
Recorded 12th & Published 13th June 2019
In this episode of The Revolutionary Radio Project, I address the issue of chemtrails along with my guest Dane Wigington of geoengineeringwatch.org
Folks, we HAVE TO do something about this before it’s too late. We may literally be a decade (or less) away from “zero hour.” With so much of our world dying and being destroyed, it is critically important we do all we can to wake up everyone we know to the reality of what’s happening in the skies above and to the Earth below.
And when it comes to sharing this and all of the other research I and others I've interviewed have done on a wide range of topics, I believe there is no more effective way to do so than through a mainstream science fiction series, that has the potential to literally reach hundreds of millions of people with truth, in an entertaining way. 8,000-Year-Old Petroglyphs Found Inside the World’s Largest Meteorite Crater

https://www.ancient-origins.net/sites/default/files/field/image/Vredefort-Crater.jpg
The Vredefort Structure in South Africa is the largest, and second oldest meteorite Impact Crater on Earth, 190 miles wide and created by a 10-mile wide asteroid that struck the earth approximately 2 billion years ago.
Scientists estimate is was travelling at almost 43,500 miles per hour when it struck the Earth and although today the crater is greatly eroded, you can still see the shape of the crater in satellite imagery.
It is largest than the Chicxulub site in Mexico that was responsible for the extinction of the dinosaurs approximately 65 million years ago and today, it is a UNSECO World Heritage Site because of its geological interest.
But now the crater is also of archaeological interest because whilst geologists were working on the site, they stumbled across a number of ancient engravings also known as petroglyphs, finds that will help experts learn about ancient human civilisation in Southern Africa. Watch the video to find out more about these amazing discoveries.

Toxic Gases in Habitable Zone Could Hinder Emergence of Alien Life
Published 15th June 2019
https://physicsworld.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/06/Trappist-1-635x318.jpg
The habitable zone for complex life around many stars could be much smaller than previously thought once the concentrations of carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide on planets is considered. That is the conclusion of astrobiologists in the US, who say that high concentrations of these gases could completely preclude the existence of life on planets orbiting some stars.
The search for extraterrestrial life often focuses on what is known as the “habitable zone” of stars. This is commonly defined as the range of distances from a host star warm enough for liquid water, a key requirement for life, to exist on a planet’s surface. However, according to Edward Schwieterman, at the University of California, Riverside, and his colleagues that description works for basic, single-celled microbes, but not for more complex creatures – everything from simple sponges to humans.

Apollo Program Lunar Surface Experiment Package (ALSEP) Passive Lunar Seismic Experiment
Published 15th June 2019
Made prior to the Apollo 11 Moon landing, this issue of the Apollo Digest entitled "Examining the Moon" shows the components of the Apollo Lunar Surface Experiment Package (ALSEP) being deployed by a technician wearing an Apollo spacesuit in a simulated lunar environment. He carries them on a "barbell" that weighs about 30 pounds on the Moon but 200 on Earth. The Apollo Lunar Surface Experiments Package (ALSEP) comprised a set of scientific instruments placed by the astronauts at the landing site of each of the five Apollo missions to land on the Moon following Apollo 11 (Apollos 12, 14, 15, 16, and 17). Apollo 11 left a smaller package called the Early Apollo Scientific Experiments Package, or EASEP.
At 2:49 a nuclear generator containing Plutonium 238 is shown, which can provide electricity to power the experiments. Plutonium 238 only emits Alpha Rays so it presents no threat to the astronauts.
The instrumentation and experiments that would comprise ALSEP were decided in February 1966. Specifically, the experiments, institutions responsible, and principal investigators and coinvestigators were:
Passive Lunar Seismic Experiment: Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Frank Press; Columbia University, George Sutton; Georgia Tech, Robert Hostetler. This is shown at 3:34.
Lunar Tri-axis Magnetometer: Ames Research Center, C. P. Sonett; Marshall Space Flight Center, Jerry Modisette. This is shown at 4:47.
Medium-Energy Solar Wind: Jet Propulsion Laboratory, C. W. Snyder and M. M. Neugebauer. This is shown at 3:59.
Suprathermal Ion Detection: Rice University, J. W. Freeman, Jr.; Marshall Space Flight Center, Curt Michel. This is shown at 4:45.
Lunar Heat Flow Management: Columbia University, M. Langseth; Yale University, S. Clark.
Low-Energy Solar Wind: Rice University, B. J. O'Brien.
Active Lunar Seismic Experiment: Stanford University, R. L. Kovach; United States Geological Survey, J. S. Watkins.
At 4:30 the Central Data Station is shown being deployed.
The ALSEP was built and tested by Bendix Aerospace in Ann Arbor, Michigan. The instruments were designed to run autonomously after the astronauts left and to make long-term studies of the lunar environment. They were arrayed around a Central Station which supplied power generated by a radioisotope thermoelectric generator (RTG) to run the instruments and communications so data collected by the experiments could be relayed to Earth. Thermal control was achieved by passive elements (insulation, reflectors, thermal coatings) as well as power dissipation resistors and heaters. Data collected from the instruments were converted into a telemetry format and transmitted to Earth.
The ALSEP was stored in the Lunar Module's Scientific Equipment (SEQ) Bay in two separate subpackages. The base of the first subpackage formed the Central Station while the base of the second subpackage was part of the RTG. A subpallet was also attached to the second subpackage which usually carried one or two of the experiments and the antenna gimbal assembly. On Apollo 12, 13, and 14, the second subpackage also stored the Lunar Hand Tool Carrier (HTC). The exact deployment of experiments differed by mission. The following pictures show a typical procedure from Apollo 12.

It's Bloody Science!
How An Ancient Supernova (That Hit Earth) Could Explain Human Evolution
Published 15th June 2019
Last month, researchers from the University of Kansas studied the possibility that a supernova 2.6 million years ago could have triggered lightning storms across Earth. This would've likely increased the frequency of cloud-to-ground lightning strikes, increasing the number of wildfires.
These supernova-fueled fires appear to have caused the conversion of forests to savannah fauna across the planet. This matters because scientists have long thought that the fauna conversion is a central factor behind pre-humans' evolution to bipedalism in Africa.
Fortunately for us today, the scientists do not think any supernova are close enough to trigger increased lightning frequency now. Betelgeuse, the closest star capable of going supernova in the next million years, is about 200 parsecs from Earth -- too far to have the same affects as the supernova 2.6 million years ago.

Chandra X-Ray Observatory
A Tour of the Fornax Cluster
Published 17th June 2019
Scientists have found evidence that pairs of stars have been kicked out of their host galaxies. This discovery, made using data from NASA’s Chandra X-ray Observatory, is one of the clearest examples of stellar pairs being expelled from their galactic base.
Astronomers use the term “binary” system to refer to pairs of stars orbiting around each other. These stellar pairs can consist of combinations of stars like our Sun, or more exotic and denser varieties such as neutron stars or even black holes.
Neutron stars form when a massive star explodes as a supernova and the core of the star collapses onto itself. Under certain conditions, these gargantuan blasts that create the neutron star are not symmetric. The recoil effect can kick the star with such force that it is expelled from the galaxy where it resides. These new Chandra results show that sometimes a companion star is forced to exit the galaxy as well.
How do astronomers look for these banished pairs? If the companion star is close enough, then matter from it will swirl toward the denser neutron star and form a disk around the neutron star. The strong gravitational forces from the neutron star cause the material in this disk to move more rapidly as it approaches the neutron star, and frictional forces in the disk heat the gaseous disk to tens of millions of degrees. At these temperatures, the disk glows in X-ray light.
Astronomers found signatures of X-ray binaries – that is, those binaries that give off X-rays -- outside of galaxies in the Fornax galaxy cluster. They did this by studying about 15 days’ worth of Chandra data taken between 1999 and 2015. The Fornax cluster is relatively nearby at a distance of some 60 million light years from Earth in the constellation sharing its name.
By combining the large Chandra dataset with optical observations, researchers made a census of X-ray sources within about 600,000 light years of the central galaxy in the Fornax cluster. Astronomers concluded that about 30 sources in the Fornax cluster were likely to be pairs of stars that had been kicked out of the center of their host galaxies. The research team hopes to look for more evicted binaries around other galaxies using Chandra in the future.

Here he describes the historical context in which the Upanishads were produced, originally as elaborations on the Vedas and Brahmanas. The changing literature reflected changing social conditions among the urban dwellers, forest dwellers, priests, and rulers. New concepts are added as Vedantic thinking reflects back upon itself. The beginnings of Indian philosophy emerge, combined with an emphasis on various spiritual practices such as chanting.

Astronauts Left Poop on the Moon. We Should Go Get It!
Published 18th June 2019
Astronauts landed on the moon for the first time 50 years ago, and they left a bunch of stuff up there — including their poop. Scientists want to know: Is there anything alive in there?
Our poop is over 50 percent bacteria, and we don’t know if any of that bacteria can survive in the moon’s inhospitable environment. But if we go back to check it out, that poop could answer some big scientific questions — including how life started in the broader universe.

The First 4000 Exoplanets - Animation and Sonification (360° Video)
Published 13th June 2019
On June 13, 2019, the number of known exoplanets passed 4000 according to the NASA Exoplanet Archive! To celebrate, we have animated their discoveries in time and converted them into music. A circle appears at the position of each exoplanet as it is discovered with a colour that indicates which method was used to find it (see below). The size of the circle indicates the relative size of the planet's orbit and the pitch of the note indicates the relative orbital period of the planet. Planets with longer orbital periods (lower orbital frequencies) are heard as low notes and planets with shorter orbital periods (higher orbital frequencies) are heard as higher notes. The volume and intensity of the note depends on how many planets with similar orbital periods were announced at the same time. The discovery of a single planet will be quiet and soft while the discovery of many planets with similar periods is loud and intense. The quiet background hum is created by converting the colours of bright stars that appear in the Milky Way into sound.

Two Potentially Life Friendly Planets Found Orbiting a Nearby Star
Published 18th June 2019
A tiny, old star just 12 light-years away might host two temperate, rocky planets, astronomers announced today. If they’re confirmed, both of the newly spotted worlds are nearly identical to Earth in mass, and both planets are in orbits that could allow liquid water to trickle and puddle on their surfaces.
Scientists estimate that the stellar host, known as Teegarden’s star, is at least eight billion years old, or nearly twice the sun’s age. That means any planets orbiting it are presumably as ancient, so life as we know it has had more than enough time to evolve. And for now, the star is remarkably quiet, with few indications of the tumultuous stellar quakes and flares that tend to erupt from such objects.

A “Leaked” UFO Document & A Disturbing Agenda
Published 18th June 2019 By Nick Redfern
https://mysteriousuniverse.org/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/top-secret-640x375.png
In 2002, Timothy Cooper – a UFO researcher from Big Bear Lake, California, who is no longer involved in the subject – sold all of his UFO files to ufologist Dr. Robert Wood. I spent a week ensconced in an Orange County, California motel room carefully logging every one of the items contained within Cooper’s vast document collection – having been hired to do so by Bob Wood. One of those items was a controversial, undated, 8-page extract from a longer, very seldom seen, document titled UFO Reports and Classified Projects: The CIA Perspective. Provided to Cooper, indirectly by an alleged CIA source that he referred to as the “Blue Boy,” it details a controversial theory that links Roswell with down-to-earth (as opposed to extraterrestrial) biological warfare activities and the Nazis. The document appears to be a draft of a briefing paper, and provides a concise history of the role of the United States’ Government and military with respect to UFOs. The opening pages, which would have provided us with a date, are unfortunately missing; but the 1990s are mentioned. Like so many supposedly leaked documents, it’s incredibly difficult to say for sure if it is the real deal or carefully-crafted disinformation. The available portions of the document are provided in full and begin as follows, and under the heading of “Historical Perspective.”

Space News | Eugene Bagashov | Local Birkeland Currents – A Closer Look
Published 19th June 2019
In recent years, an incredible development has transpired in the space sciences — mainstream astronomical literature now rather routinely acknowledges the existence of electric currents in space. But the question is, how significant a role do these electric currents play in the dynamics of the Universe? In our most recent Space News, we reported on the discovery of a radio-emitting plasma filament which connects two galaxy clusters across the unfathomable distance of 10,000,000 light-years. If electric currents connect celestial objects at such vast cosmic distances, as plasma cosmologists have proposed for decades, then how might we also detect electric currents in our own celestial neighborhood?
Today, physicist Eugene Bagashov and several colleagues are attempting to answer this question through a detailed analysis of the conditions near our solar system. In part three of this four-part presentation, Eugene continues his discussion on the evidence for plasma currents connecting our solar system with the nearby interstellar environment.

Human beings have always watched the skies, so it’s not surprising that astronomy is the oldest of all sciences. But what about other animals, can they see the stars too? Or are they indifferent to the charms of the night sky? In this talk, Dr. Michael West will present evidence that some animals use the stars to hunt or to migrate, while others lack the visual acuity to be stargazers.
Michael West is Deputy Director for Science at Lowell Observatory. He received his PhD in astronomy from Yale University and held research, teaching and leadership positions on four continents before coming to Flagstaff in 2015. He’s disappointed that, as far as he can tell, his dog has no interest in the stars.

Astronomers Find Earliest Example of Merging Galaxies
Published 19th June 2019

Thirteen billion years ago, two galaxies collided to make something totally new. Each of those galaxies was among the universe’s first, since the cosmic clock had only been ticking for less than a billion years. As the galaxies’ dust and gas swirled together, new generations of stars were born, and their light began racing across the cosmos until it collided with the 66 radio telescopes that make up the Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array (ALMA) in Chile’s Atacama Desert.
The pair of galaxies, known as B14-65666, were previously observed by the Hubble Space Telescope as two blobs of stars. But ALMA’s radio gaze also revealed dust clouds, oxygen, and carbon in the galaxies, suggesting the two are actually one system moving at different speeds. This means the galaxies are almost certainly merging with each other. Due to the mixing of the two galaxies’ materials, the new galactic offspring is producing a burst of new stars, forming baby suns at a rate about 100 times that of the Milky Way. It’s the earliest known example of merging galaxies yet discovered.

Howard Crowhurst | The Nebra Sky-Disc
Published 20th June 2019
In 1999, near Nebra in the Saxony region of Germany, two treasure hunters made one of the most extraordinary discoveries in the history of archaeology. The bronze and gold object they discovered has come to be known as the Nebra sky disc and is the oldest recognised representation of the night sky, estimated to be some 3600 years old, dating it to 200 years before the first images in Egypt. The implications behind the disc’s existence were so enormous that the reaction of some authoritative specialists was to deny the disc’s authenticity. Following his groundbreaking work on the Carnac alignments Howard Crowhurst reveals the hidden meaning of one of the most enigmatic objects ever unearthed and shows the profound understanding it encodes.
Howard Crowhurst was born in North Wales. He has been living in Brittany since 1986 and has become one of the leading experts on the megaithic monuments of the Carnac area. From 1990 to 2004, he was vice president of the Association Archéologique Kergal and as such he took part in the french TV documentary, Carnac. In 2006, he launched the Summer Solstice in Plouharnel event with the Plouharnel Tourist Office. He founded the ACEM-Association for the Knowledge and Study of Megaliths, whose aim (amongst other things) is to create a 3D computer model of the Carnac megalithic complex. He appeared at Megalithomania in 2009 and 2011 when he introduced his incredible research on geometry and metrology to the world. http://www.epistemea.fr/

A Quick Look @ The Coma Cluster
Published 20th June 2019
Galaxy clusters are the largest structures in the Universe held together by gravity.
Enclosing the hundreds or thousands of galaxies are enormous amounts of superheated gas that glow in X-ray light.
Understanding how this gas behaves is crucial to learning about these cosmic giants.
A new study with NASA's Chandra X-ray Observatory reveals insight into the viscosity, or "stickiness," of the hot gas in one cluster.
Researchers found the viscosity of the hot gas in the Coma galaxy cluster was lower than they expected.
In other words, the hot gas in Coma acts more like milk swirling around in coffee than honey.
Scientists think this low viscosity in Coma may have to do with small irregularities in the galaxy cluster's magnetic field.

With a new telescope situated on a scenic plateau in Tenerife, Spain, MIT planetary scientists now have an added way to search for Earth-sized exoplanets. Artemis, the first ground-based telescope of the SPECULOOS Northern Observatory (SNO), joins a network of 1-meter-class robotic telescopes as part of the SPECULOOS project (Search for habitable Planets EClipsing ULtra-cOOl Stars), which is led by Michael Gillon at the University of Liège in Belgium and carried out in collaboration with MIT and several other institutions and financial supporters. Artemis is the latest product of a collaboration with MIT’s Department of Earth, Atmospheric and Planetary Sciences (EAPS). The other network telescopes that make up the SPECULOOS Southern Observatory — named Io, Europa, Ganymede, and Callisto after the four Galilean moons of Jupiter — are up and running at the Paranal Observatory in Chile, busily scanning the skies for exoplanets in the Southern Hemisphere.

Preston Dennett | Aliens @ School
Recorded 21st May | Published 16th June 2019
On September 1994, more than fifty students at Ariel Elementary School in Ruwa, Zimbabwe witnessed a UFO land next to their school. Two apparent extraterrestrials exited the craft and began to communicate with some of the students. This event electrified the UFO community and made international headlines. This may sound like a unique encounter, but it is not. The truth is, UFOs have been visiting our schools for more than fifty years. These are not simple sightings. In the vast majority of cases, the sightings last for hours or even days. In many of the cases, the UFOs actually land. In some of the cases, humanoids are seen. Often the visitations are so intense that government and military officials become involved. The sases come from across the United States and the world, including such countries as England, Scotland, France, Australia and more.
In this presentation, Preston Dennett will reveal the startling details of more than a dozen extensive school-UFO encounters both famous and unknown. Why are UFOs visiting our schools? How are the ETs influencing our children?
Supported by firsthand eyewitness testimonies, drawings and photos, these unique cases will forever change how you view the UFO phenomenon.

Three more U.S. senators received a classified Pentagon briefing on Wednesday about a series of reported encounters by the Navy with unidentified aircraft, according to congressional and government officials — part of a growing number of requests from members of key oversight committees.
One of them was Sen. Mark Warner (D-Va.), the vice chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee, whose office confirmed the briefing to POLITICO.

Episode Three | We Are Not Alone
Published 4th June 2019
For decades scientists, and some disinformation apologists like NASA, have told us that
it is mathematically impossible for Earthlings to be the only sentient beings in a cosmos
comprising millions of star systems. What they haven’t told us, even those few who are
really in the know, is that some of the aliens, as we call them, have been visiting Earth for
a very long time.
The U.S. government is aware of the crashes that occurred in the 1940s including the
ones that were reported from Roswell, New Mexico, in 1947 when the U.S. began to take
the subject very seriously and gave the matter a security rating higher than the H-bomb.
They immediately began to back-engineer one of the saucers and have spent trillions of
dollars over the last 70 years building a formidable fleet of space-faring vehicles while all
the time denying that UFOs existed.
Skeptics insist visitors couldn’t visit Earth because, at the speed of light, it would take too
long to get here. So one of the first things to learn is that gravity travels faster than light,
so gravity and anti-gravity machines can do the same. Then there is the question of
wormholes in space, that are an aid to navigation.
Visitors came from Venus, Mars, the Pleiades, Andromeda, Centauri, and Zeta Reticuli,
the origin of the Greys that crashed their vehicle near Roswell, to mention just a very
few.
In the mid-1960s an armada of about 50 flying saucers flew south across central Europe.
The Supreme Allied Commander (SACEUR) was just about to push the panic button
when the discs turned around and flew north over the Pole. SACEUR ordered an
investigation that lasted three years, and concluded beyond any doubt, that at least four
species had been visiting Earth for thousands of years.
The visitors are all more advanced technologically than we are, and some have been
sharing their knowledge with us, which accounts for much of our rapid advancement for
the last 50 years or so. They are also more advanced spiritually than we are, and serve
our Creator God. Unfortunately, there is at least one exception we should be aware of.
So Congress should forthwith establish a bi-partisan committee to investigate the
amazing secrets waiting to be exposed if a general amnesty from the National Security
Act is granted. Political leaders must inform themselves as quickly as possible in order to
reclaim control of their country from the Cabal.
There are literally hundreds of fine books on UFOs, and there is a long list of
recommended reading at the back of Len Kasten’s excellent book, The Secret History of
Extraterrestrials: Advanced Technology and the Coming New Race. Each of the three
books in my trilogy contain references to the ETs, their presence and their technology in
the context of how humankind is affected.

Michael Masters, Ph.D - 'UFOs are Time Machines' from the Future
Published 20th June 2019
Tonight's special guest cautiously examines the premise that extraterrestrials may instead be our distant human descendants, using the anthropological tool of time travel to visit and study us in their own hominin evolutionary past. Dr. Michael P. Masters, a professor of biological anthropology specializing in human evolutionary anatomy, archaeology, and biomedicine, explores how the persistence of long-term biological and cultural trends in human evolution may ultimately result in us becoming the ones piloting these disc-shaped craft, which are likely the very devices that allow our future progeny to venture backward across the landscape of time. Moreover, these extratempestrials are ubiquitously described as bipedal, large-brained, hairless, human-like beings, who communicate with us in our own languages, and who possess technology advanced beyond, but clearly built upon, our own. These accounts, coupled with a thorough understanding of the past and modern human condition, point to the continuation of established biological and cultural trends here on Earth, long into the distant human future.

Power and profit continue to be the primary motive of so many in industrialized societies, even over the obviously essential need for a living planet. What will it take for reason to prevail in this equation? Will the increasingly draconian social media censorship successfully keep populations in the dark? Many still believe that technology will somehow magically save us from ourselves at the last possible moment. Question, how is that going so far? In the meantime, while the biosphere implosion is accelerating by the day, the military industrial complex is trying to make the case that a nuclear war is winnable. How long do we have on the current course?
Priorities must change for a much larger percentage of the population if we are to have any chance of changing course. Can we still make a difference at this late hour? How can we know unless we try? We must also never forget this, the fight for the greater good matters in and of itself.

The Interiors of Exoplanets May Well Hold the Key to Their Habitability
Published 23rd June 2019
https://i2.wp.com/manyworlds.space/wp-content/uploads/2019/06/56b8bd2e4705b.jpg?resize=676%2C406&ssl=1
The quest to find habitable — and perhaps inhabited — planets and moons beyond Earth focuses largely on their location in a solar system and the nature of its host star, the eccentricity of its orbit, its size and rockiness, and the chemical composition of its atmosphere, assuming that it has one.
Astronomy, astrophysics, cosmochemistry and many other disciplines have made significant progress in characterizing at least some of the billions of exoplanets out there, although measuring the chemical makeup of atmospheres remains a immature field.
But what if these basic characteristics aren’t sufficient to answer necessary questions about whether a planet is habitable? What if more information — and even more difficult to collect information — is needed?

Alien space probes?
Are there alien civilizations?
The search for extraterrestrial intelligence has mainly focused on searching for radio signals. However, John Michael Godlier spoke with Dr. Robert Zubrin about a new theory he proposes which posits that alien space probes would be seeding life throughout the universe using bacteria.
Are alien civilizations sending signs? If so, Dr. Zubrin proposes that we search for these microbes, a form of deep space communication, within our own solar system on Mars, Venus, and Titan. He also asks if bacteria was sent to Earth from another intelligent alien civilization as a form of panspermia.

Subaru Telescope Identifies the Outermost Edge of the Milky Way System
Published 24th June 2019
https://3c1703fe8d.site.internapcdn.net/newman/csz/news/800/2019/6-subarutelesc.jpg
A team of researchers identified the outermost edge of the Milky Way galaxy. Using the Subaru Telescope, the researchers examined the boundary of the stellar system that makes up the galaxy. The ultimate size of the galaxy is 520,000 light years in radius, 20 times larger than the distance between the galactic center and our solar system (26,000 light years) (Figure 1). Stars that reach these outermost regions of the galaxy during their orbital motions are ancient stellar populations with ages as old as 12 billion years. The spatial extent in which these ancient stars wander is, therefore, important for understanding the Milky Way's formation.

Astronomers See “Warm” Glow of Uranus’s Rings
Published 20th June 2019
https://news.berkeley.edu/wp-content/uploads/2019/06/four_panel_plot750.jpg
The rings of Uranus are invisible to all but the largest telescopes — they weren’t even discovered until 1977 — but they’re surprisingly bright in new heat images of the planet taken by two large telescopes in the high deserts of Chile.
Composite image of Uranus’s atmosphere and rings at radio wavelengths, taken with the ALMA array in December 2017. The image shows thermal emission, or heat, from the rings of Uranus for the first time, enabling scientists to determine their temperature: a frigid 77 Kelvin (-320 F). Dark bands in Uranus’s atmosphere at these wavelengths show the presence of molecules that absorb radio waves, in particular hydrogen sulfide gas. Bright regions like the north polar spot (yellow spot at right, because Uranus is tipped on its side) contain very few of these molecules.
The thermal glow gives astronomers another window onto the rings, which have been seen only because they reflect a little light in the visible, or optical, range and in the near-infrared. The new images taken by the Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array (ALMA) and the Very Large Telescope (VLT) allowed the team for the first time to measure the temperature of the rings: a cool 77 Kelvin, or 77 degrees above absolute zero — the boiling temperature of liquid nitrogen and equivalent to 320 degrees below zero Fahrenheit.

Arjuna's Choice . . . & Yours?
Published 24th June 2019
All the world's ancient myths are built on a common system of celestial metaphor, designed to convey profound and very practical truths for our blessing and benefit.
The Bhagavad Gita is one of the most beloved and well-known of the world's ancient scriptures, containing the wisdom imparted to Arjuna by the divine Lord Krishna. But it would not have taken place at all had Arjuna not made the right decision when presented with the choice between having Krishna as his non-combatant charioteer or having an army of Krishna's Narayana warriors at his side.
This choice itself can be shown to reflect specific constellations in the heavens -- and to carry a powerful truth for our own lives, in this very present moment.

James Tyberonn & Earth-Keeper Present: Prolific Researcher, British Author & Speaker, Andrew Collins, Live @ Arklantis presenting from his book The Cygnus Key.
Built at the end of the last ice age around 9600 BCE, Göbekli Tepe in southeast Turkey was designed to align with the constellation of the celestial swan, Cygnus--a fact confirmed by the discovery at the site of a tiny bone plaque carved with the three key stars of Cygnus. Remarkably, the three main pyramids at Giza in Egypt, including the Great Pyramid, align with the same three stars. But where did this ancient veneration of Cygnus come from?
Showing that Cygnus was once seen as a portal to the sky-world, Andrew Collins reveals how, at both sites, the attention toward this star group is linked with sound acoustics and the use of musical intervals “discovered” thousands of years later by the Greek mathematician Pythagoras. Collins traces these ideas as well as early advances in human technology and cosmology back to the Altai-Baikal region of Russian Siberia, where the cult of the swan flourished as much as 20,000 years ago. He shows how these concepts, including a complex numeric system based on long-term eclipse cycles, are derived from an extinct human population known as the Denisovans. Not only were they of exceptional size--the ancient giants of myth--but archaeological discoveries show that this previously unrecognized human population achieved an advanced level of culture, including the use of high-speed drilling techniques and the creation of musical instruments.

Salt-Loving Bacteria’s Survival Skills Bode Well for Life on Mars
Published 25th June 2019
http://blogs.discovermagazine.com/d-brief/files/2019/06/15-195_perspective_2.jpg
Mars’ surface is dry and dusty. But researchers know there’s water there. It’s locked up in the polar ice caps, and occasionally it probably seeps to the surface as liquid. And at night, the Red Planet’s plummeting temperatures raise the humidity drastically, possibly to 80 or 100 percent.
For good or ill, Mars also has vast salt deposits made of calcium sulfate, iron sulfate and magnesium sulfate. And salts, which come in many varieties, are usually good at mixing with water to form brines, a salty liquid. In fact, in many cases, they are good at pulling water straight from the humid air to mix and form a brine.

Cyanide Compounds Discovered in Meteorites May Hold Clues to the Origin of Life
Published 25th June 2019
https://www.nasa.gov/sites/default/files/styles/full_width/public/thumbnails/image/meteorite_compounds_vs_active_sites_in_hydrogenases.png?itok=qewnh9U7
Cyanide and carbon monoxide are both deadly poisons to humans, but compounds containing iron, cyanide, and carbon monoxide discovered in carbon-rich meteorites by a team of scientists at Boise State University and NASA may have helped power life on early Earth. The extraterrestrial compounds found in meteorites resemble the active site of hydrogenases, which are enzymes that provide energy to bacteria and archaea by breaking down hydrogen gas (H2). Their results suggest that these compounds were also present on early Earth, before life began, during a period of time when Earth was constantly bombarded by meteorites and the atmosphere was likely more hydrogen-rich.

NEAF Talks | Sara Seager | Mapping the Nearest Stars for Habitable Worlds
Published 25th June 2019
Exoplanets are planets that orbit stars other than the sun. Thousands of exoplanets are already known, with compelling evidence that billions more exist in our Milky Way Galaxy; that nearly every star should have planets. Beyond their discovery, a new era of “exoplanet characterization” is underway with an astonishing diversity of exoplanets driving the fields of planetary science and engineering to new frontiers.
PROFESSOR SARA SEAGER is a planetary scientist and astrophysicist. She has been a pioneer in the vast and unknown world of exoplanets, planets that orbit stars other than the sun. Her ground-breaking research ranges from the detection of exoplanet atmospheres to innovative theories about life on other worlds to the development of novel space mission concepts. Now, dubbed an “astronomical Indiana Jones”, she on a quest after the field’s holy grail, the discovery of a true Earth twin. Dr. Seager earned her PhD from Harvard University and is now the Class of 1941 Professor of Planetary Science, Professor of Physics, and Professor of Aerospace Engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Among many other accolades, Professor Seager is a MacArthur Fellow, a member of the US National Academy of Sciences, a lifetime Honorary Member of the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada, and has Asteroid 9729 Seager named in her honor.

Is Ufology being sanitized and prepared for consumption?
