NASA Explores Earth's Magnetic 'Dent'
Published 17th August 2020
https://www.nasa.gov/sites/default/files/styles/ubernode_alt_horiz/public/thumbnails/image/magnetic_field_cover-1.jpg
Earth’s magnetic field acts like a protective shield around the planet, repelling and trapping charged particles from the Sun. But over South America and the southern Atlantic Ocean, an unusually weak spot in the field – called the South Atlantic Anomaly, or SAA – allows these particles to dip closer to the surface than normal.
Currently, the SAA creates no visible impacts on daily life on the surface. However, recent observations and forecasts show that the region is expanding westward and continuing to weaken in intensity.
The South Atlantic Anomaly is also of interest to NASA’s Earth scientists who monitor the changes in magnetic strength there, both for how such changes affect Earth's atmosphere and as an indicator of what's happening to Earth's magnetic fields, deep inside the globe.

Extremely Rare Line-Up of Stars Is Coming
Published 15th August 2020
An extremely rare "Gravitational Lensing Event" is predicted to occur. Alpha Centauri A and B will line-up with a red supergiant star. This will create a circle of light which could be used to determine the presence, and the masses, of nearby planets.
The prediction is based on the trajectories of Alpha Centauri A and B, a fast moving pair of stars in the closest solar system to our own. Using both new and archive data, researchers have predicted the star's movements over the next 34 years.
This phenomenon was predicted by Einstein in his General Theory of Relativity in 1916. If the two objects are very closely aligned, eagle-eyed astronomers may catch a glimpse of an 'Einstein Ring' - a circle of light that curves around on all sides of the closest object.
In this case, Alpha Centauri A is predicted to move in front of a red supergiant star, called S5. In a statement on its website, the European Southern Observatory, said: "In May 2028, there is a strong chance that the light from S5 will create an 'Einstein Ring' around Alpha Centauri A, observable with ESO's telescopes.
Because the amount of mass in this nearby star determines exactly how the light bends around it, deviations from the expected gravitational lensing effect can be used to determine the presence, and the masses, of planets.
An extremely rare opportunity for planet hunting in the Alpha Centauri star system. It's coming 2028.

UFOs & Rockets: Someone Is Watching Us
Published 16th August 2020
https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/51YCDoDznBL.jpg
Ever since the Modern Age of UFOs began in 1947, UFOs have been closely monitoring humanity's progress into space. When the U.S. military began to actively launch missiles at White Sands in New Mexico, UFOs immediately made their presence known, not only following the missiles in full view, but sometimes intervening to cause the missiles to fall to Earth. When more rocket launches occurred, UFOs were often there. Wherever rockets were being launched, UFOs showed up, including not only White Sands, but China Lake, Vandenburg, Holloman and other areas. While the U.S. military scrambled to deal with the sudden UFO presence, at the same time they aggressively tried to cover-up the events.
But as the UFOs continued to show themselves, still sometimes disabling the rockets, whistle-blowers recognized the importance of what was happening and courageously alerted the public of what was happening.
These are not simple sighting. Under the J. Allen Hynek system, some might be classified as Close Encounters of the Second Kind, during which UFOs affect the environment (disabling a missile.) But in actuality, they are all human-initiated encounters and are more accurately classified as CE5 events.
This video presents about twenty cases in which UFOs have showed up during rocket launches. As most of these events have been covered up, the actual number is certainly much higher.
The incredible events that have occurred at White Sands, Holloman AFB, China Lake, Vandenburg AFB and other areas have yet to be fully revealed.
As this video will show, the UFO occupants' interest and monitoring of rocket launches is likely comprehensive, as there are cases in which UFOs have shown up during the launching of toy model rockets! Some UFO abductees have been told directly that we are being observed.
Why are UFOs monitoring and disabling missiles? What happened to all the camera footage showing these events? How many times has this happened? We all deserve to know the truth about the UFO presence on our planet. Cases like these are profoundly important and can be ignored no longer.
For those who would like to learn more, I have documented these (and other) cases in my book, "Not from Here: Volume Two," now available here (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01FOY69F6/ref=as_li_qf_asin_il_tl?ie=UTF8&tag=officialweb0f-20&creative=9325&linkCode=as2&creativeASIN=B01FOY69F6&linkId=a58cfa59efbc47c56c8b5b978152a4a7).

Jeremy McGowan | The Crate In The Desert
Published 12th August 2020
Ryan is joined by former Air Force Security Forces officer, Jeremy McGowan. Jeremy is a twelve- year veteran. He spent almost three years in the Middle East during Desert Storm and other operations, serving with Joint Special Operations Command and the DEA in performing counter-narcotics operations in the jungles of Colombia. But during an operation in the Jordanian Desert in 1995, something inexplicable occurred. He and a fellow security officer were ordered to guard a massive, unmarked crate in the middle of the desert. They were never told was in the crate or why they were guarding it. But while performing the cryptic duties one night, McGowan noticed something strange in the skies. Something that hovered directly over the crate and performed unbelievable maneuvers. Whatever it was, it seemed just as interested in the contents of that crate as McGowan was. And as we dig deeper in to the events of that night, we will be just as curious as well. McGowan runs us through the entire event, the aftermath, and his thoughts and theories on what was in the crate, where it went, and why the UFO may have been so interested in the contents.

One of the main jobs of Perseverance, the Mars 2020 rover, is to find signs of ancient microbial life on Mars. So, how will it meet this goal when it reaches the red planet next year?
We’ve been studying Mars from Earth since the 1600s and from space since the ‘60s.
From the High Resolution Imaging Science Experiment aboard the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter to the now present-day Mars 2020 rover Perseverance, astrobiologists have been searching for and collecting variables for decades regarding the existence of life on mars.
And NASA’s latest rover will serve as yet another puzzle piece in the ongoing journey that is finding signs of life on mars—specifically ancient microbial life.
Perseverance will dig around in Mars’ rocks looking for fossils, gathering samples to hang onto until future missions can hopefully ferry those samples back to Earth for further study.
And Mars 2020 rover will eventually be joined by the European-Russian ExoMars rover.
Find out more about the Perseverance mission, and the long history we have with searching for life on Mars in this Elements.

Space Weather News | Flares Pick Up & A Solar Storm Heads Towards Earth
Published 18th August 2020
This week our Sun holds our attention with multiple bright regions flaring and launching solar storms. One of these solar storms is partly Earth-directed and should impact Earth late on August 19 or by midday August 20. This storm is the first "fast" solar storm of this new cycle (compared to the slower, weaker storms during solar minimum). As such it could give us our best chance of aurora views yet down to mid-latitudes! On top of that we are managing to stay in the low 70s for solar flux, despite having a spotless Sun so amateur radio operators should enjoy marginal radio propagation on Earth's dayside over this next week. Of course radio propagation and GPS reception will be affected once the solar storm hits, but overall the boost in activity lately is a sure sign of Solar Cycle 25 really getting underway! Learn the details of the coming storm, how it will affect you, and see what else our Sun has in store this week.

The Sun May Have Started Its Life With A Binary Companion
Published 18th August 2020
https://www.cfa.harvard.edu/sites/www.cfa.harvard.edu/files/styles/width720/public/images/pr//2020-19.jpg?itok=FqUFtpzB
A new theory published today in The Astrophysical Journal Letters (https://iopscience.iop.org/article/10.3847/2041-8213/abac66) by scientists from Harvard University suggests that the Sun may once have had a binary companion of similar mass. If confirmed, the presence of an early stellar companion increases the likelihood that the Oort cloud was formed as observed and that Planet Nine was captured rather than formed within the solar system.
Dr. Avi Loeb, Frank B. Baird Jr. Professor of Science at Harvard, and Amir Siraj, a Harvard undergraduate student, have postulated that the existence of a long-lost stellar binary companion in the Sun's birth cluster—the collection of stars that formed together with the Sun from the same dense cloud of molecular gas—could explain the formation of the Oort cloud as we observe it today.

Exploding Stars May Have Caused Mass Extinction On Earth, Study Shows

Imagine reading by the light of an exploded star, brighter than a full moon—it might be fun to think about, but this scene is the prelude to a disaster when the radiation devastates life as we know it. Killer cosmic rays from nearby supernovae could be the culprit behind at least one mass extinction event, researchers said, and finding certain radioactive isotopes in Earth's rock record could confirm this scenario.
A new study led by University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign astronomy and physics professor Brian Fields explores the possibility that astronomical events were responsible for an extinction event 359 million years ago, at the boundary between the Devonian and Carboniferous periods.

Citizen Scientists Discover Dozens Of New Cosmic Neighbours In NASA Data
Published 18th August 2020
https://www.nasa.gov/sites/default/files/styles/full_width/public/thumbnails/image/a-cold-brown-dwarf-v2.jpg
We’ve never met some of the Sun’s closest neighbors until now. In a new study, astronomers report the discovery of 95 objects known as brown dwarfs, many within a few dozen light-years of the Sun. They’re well outside the solar system, so don’t experience heat from the Sun, but still inhabit a region astronomers consider our cosmic neighborhood. This collection represents some of the coldest known examples of these objects, which are between the sizes of planets and stars.
the white dwarf and a brown dwarf companion
In this artist’s rendering, the small white orb represents the white dwarf (a remnant of a long-dead Sun-like star), while the purple foreground object is the newly discovered brown dwarf companion, confirmed by NASA’s Spitzer Space Telescope. This faint brown dwarf was previously overlooked until being spotted by citizen scientists working with Backyard Worlds: Planet 9, a NASA-funded citizen science project.
Credits: NOIRLab/NSF/AURA/P. Marenfeld/Acknowledgement: William Pendrill
Members of the public helped make these discoveries through Backyard Worlds: Planet 9, a NASA-funded citizen science project that is a collaboration between volunteers and professional scientists. Backyard Worlds incorporates data from NASA’s Near-Earth Object Wide-Field Infrared Survey Explorer (NEOWISE) satellite along with all-sky observations collected between 2010 and 2011 under its previous moniker, WISE. Data from NASA’s retired Spitzer Space Telescope and the facilities of the National Science Foundation’s NOIRLab were also instrumental in the analysis.
“Vast modern datasets can unlock landmark discoveries, and it’s exciting that these could be spotted first by citizen scientists,” said Aaron Meisner, assistant scientist at NSF’s NOIRLab and the lead author of the study describing the brown dwarfs. “These Backyard Worlds discoveries show that members of the public can play an important role in reshaping our scientific understanding of our solar neighborhood.”

The iconic Arecibo Observatory in Puerto Rico was damaged last week when a large cable fell onto the radio telescope’s main reflector dish. We’re now learning more about this unfortunate incident, including how long it might take until the beleaguered observatory is back online.
During the early morning of Monday August 10, a thick auxiliary cable used to support a metal platform dropped onto the main reflector dish, producing a 100-foot-long gash. The golf ball-like Gregorian Dome was also damaged, as was a platform used to access the dome, which houses a multi-beam receiver. No one was hurt during the incident, but scientific work at Puerto Rico’s famous Arecibo Observatory is now on hold, pending repairs.
During a virtual press conference held on August 14, Francisco Córdova, the director of the Arecibo Observatory, described it as an “unprecedented event,” saying the cables, which were installed around 20 years ago, were supposed to last for another 15 to 20 years. Importantly, however, the cable did not snap. Rather, the 3-inch thick cable slipped out from a socket located on one of the observatory’s three support towers, he said.

A Car-Size Asteroid Flew Within 1,830 Miles Of Earth Over The Weekend, The Closest Pass Ever — And We Didn't See It Coming
Published 18th August 2020

A car-size asteroid flew within about 1,830 miles (2,950 kilometers) of Earth on Sunday.
That's a remarkably close shave — the closest ever recorded, in fact, according to asteroid trackers and a catalog compiled by Sormano Astronomical Observatory in Italy.
Because of its size, the space rock most likely wouldn't have posed any danger to people on the ground had it struck our planet. But the close call is worrisome nonetheless, since astronomers had no idea the asteroid existed until after it passed by.
"The asteroid approached undetected from the direction of the sun," Paul Chodas, the director of NASA's Center for Near Earth Object Studies, told Business Insider. "We didn't see it coming."

Scientists Determine Oumuamua Isn't Made From Molecular Hydrogen Ice After All
Published 18th August 2020
https://scx1.b-cdn.net/csz/news/800/2020/74-scientistsde.jpg
The debate over the origins and molecular structure of 'Oumuamua continued today with an announcement in The Astrophysical Journal Letters that despite earlier promising claims, the interstellar object is not made of molecular hydrogen ice after all.
The earlier study, published by Seligman & Laughlin in 2020—after observations by the Spitzer Space Telescope set tight limits on the outgassing of carbon-based molecules—suggested that if 'Oumuamua were a hydrogen iceberg, then the pure hydrogen gas that gives it its rocket-like push would have escaped detection. But scientists at the Center for Astrophysics | Harvard & Smithsonian (CfA) and the Korea Astronomy and Space Science Institute (KASI) were curious whether a hydrogen-based object could actually have made the journey from interstellar space to our solar system

One of the goals of the next generation of giant telescopes, now rapidly nearing completion, is to scour the nearby heavens for stars whose planets show signs of life.
If they find even a single such a world, Amedeo Balbi of the University of Rome Tor Vergata and Claudio Grimaldi of the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Lausanne say, it probably means that the galaxy is teeming with life-bearing worlds.
In fact, the two astrobiologists write in the journal Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, such a discovery would indicate that life-bearing worlds may well be more common than pulsars (which are believed to number in the order of 200,000 in the Milky Way galaxy alone).

The End Of UFO Disclosure?

The past three years have given the public much in the way of new authenticated information on the subject of UFOs. Recently, the Pentagon announced the formation of a UFO Task Force. The Road to a Congressional UFO Hearing, 1960’s Style
Published 18th August 2020
https://www.theblackvault.com/documentarchive/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/b-1.jpg
The world is abuzz that the United States Senate, namely the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence chaired by Senator Marco Rubio, is interested in a public UFO report created by the Intelligence Community (IC). In addition, the Department of Defense (DOD) recently announced a UAP Task Force, or UAPTF, which aims to investigate unidentified objects as they encroach on military installations. The effort is an exciting push towards transparency related to an issue that has intrigued the masses for decades, and one that is often encapsulated in secrecy and conspiracy allegations. However, this is not the first time Congressional interest into UFOs has happened. In fact, it’s happened before in a nearly identical fashion. Can this unfolding saga end the same way? Advocates for UFO disclosure sure hope not.

From most people’s perspectives, space law is a fairly niche field. Even more niche are particular sub-fields of space law, such as space human rights law. Despite being so niche, though, one can argue that space human rights law is extremely important. It defines how humans treat each other as they expand into new off-planet environments. It thus fundamentally shapes how humanity engages with space. To learn more about the intersection of human rights and space exploration, we spoke to Jonathan Lim, a solicitor at the law firm WiseLaw. He is also the founder of Jus Ad Astra, a project at WiseLaw that develops legal principles pertaining to space exploration.

Space News | Ben Hyde: Electric Universe Inspiring Gen Z
Published 14th August 2020
What does the future hold for education in the space sciences?
More than half a century ago, inspired interest in space exploration was remarkably high among the general public, as humanity’s attention was held rapt by the race to the Moon. However, in the 21st century, the public face of space science is less the astronaut than the physicist and astrophysicist.
When young people wish to learn of space science, they learn of the Big Bang and gravity-centric cosmology. They must try to make sense of concepts such as warped space-time, infinities and singularities. They’re told of a Universe that is 96% dark, comprised of matter and energy that are unproven, invisible and “poorly understood.”
However, today we know that more than 99% of the universe is composed of plasma. This universe is not "dark," it is alight with electric currents. And the physical mechanisms that spark the phenomena we see have been replicated for many decades in laboratories on Earth. Thus, one can see the potential for the electrical cosmology to inspire a new generation, through concepts that are both understandable and demonstrable.
Recently, we have engaged with an Electric Universe advocate who has made it his mission to introduce the young and curious to the ideas of the EU. His name is Benjamin Hyde, a television news science presenter at KSTU-FOX 13 Salt Lake City, and prolific social media science creator.
We are excited to formally introduce Ben to the EU community in his Space News debut. Here he describes SPARK (Science Programs Aimed Right at Kids), and how his efforts to interest and inspire Generation Z in the sciences is flourishing.

Humanoid UFO Occupants? Anthropomorphism?
Published 25th August 2020
Humanoid UFO Occupants? We have touched on this topic in the past on this channel, we discussed the similarities between us and them from an anatomical standpoint when it comes to the Grey's. I have even gone as far as to try and find a link to what these beings are wearing during close encounters...why they would necessarily even need to wear clothes? If there is one thing we can't ignore is that there is an anthropomorphic aspect of this phenomenon. I will be honest, at times I've wondered if this humanoid aspect could be the Achilles heel to all of this...is this just proof that this is all just a confabulation of the human mind? But as you all know I am a believer ufos are real.
So why...why humanoid with all the possibilities of evolution that could occur when thinking of an otherworldly species...why would they look similar to us? Why would they resemble human life here on earth?

India’s AstroSat Discovers An Ancient Galaxy; Findings Could Help Explain Origin Of Light Post Big Bang
Published 25th August 2020
Scientists from the Inter-University Centre for Astronomy and Astrophysics (IUCAA), Pune have discovered one of the earliest galaxies in the universe, situated about 9.3 billion light-years away from the Earth. The breakthrough discovery, published on Monday, was made using AstroSat—the first multi-wavelength satellite of India.
Launched by the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) on September 28, 2015, and developed by multiple research institutes from India and Canada, the satellite specialises in studying celestial sources in X-ray, optical and UV spectral bands simultaneously. It consists of five payloads that assist in capturing UV light coming from celestial objects.
The satellite, using its unique features, recently detected an extreme-ultraviolet light coming from the galaxy named AUDFs01. The discovery is expected to help our understanding of the earliest source of light in the universe.

Eleven Billion Years Of Our Universe’s History Were Missing… Until Now
Published 27th August 2020
https://www.sdss.org/press-releases/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/eboss_pr_v1.2.web_.png
After 20 years of mapping the night sky, one project has filled in an 11 billion year gap in our knowledge of the universe’s history.
Since 2000, the Sloan Digital Sky Survey, or SDSS, has been regularly studying the sky via its relatively small two-and-a-half meter telescope in New Mexico with the goal of creating the most detailed map of the observable universe ever.
The data produced by the SDSS has made it one of the most influential tools in cosmology. Over the years the project introduced new instruments like the Baryon Oscillation Spectroscopic Survey, or BOSS, which mapped the distribution of luminous red galaxies and quasars to establish a scale created by ripples in the very early universe.
SDSS is on its fifth study and if it is anything like the others it will reveal parts of the cosmos we've never seen before.

150ft-Wide Asteroid 2011 ES4 Will Fly By Earth At 0.3 Times The Distance To The Moon Next Week
Published 26th August 2020
An asteroid will fly by Earth at 0.3 times the distance to the Moon on September 1, 2020. Asteroid 2011 ES4, which measures approximately 150ft (50m) across, is expected to hurtle past the Earth at staggering speeds of 18,253mph (29,375kmh).
The space rock will pass by Earth at 0.00048 Astronomical Units (AU) away - approximately 44,550 miles (71,600 km). The CNEOS database reveals the asteroid will pass by the Earth on September 1 at 3.49pm BST (10.49am ET).
That asteroid has a condition code of seven (7) at the time, with 0 being good and 9 being highly uncertain. However, Space Agencies say it is of no threat to Earth.
Asteroid 2011 ES4 will pass safely, but it's a reminder that Earth has been vulnerable to cosmic impacts in the past, and will continue to be in the future.

A Bright Comet Is Plunging Toward The Sun
Published 27th August 2020
It's bright, and it's doomed. A new comet just discovered by the Solar and Heliospheric Observatory (SOHO) is plunging toward the sun where solar heating will almost certainly tear it apart.
"I know it doesn't look like much now, but this comet could become really bright--perhaps 2nd or 3rd magnitude as it passes by the sun on Thursday and Friday," says Karl Battams of the Naval Research Lab in Washington DC.
The comet is a Kreutz sungrazer--a fragment from the breakup of a giant comet many centuries ago. SOHO has discovered thousands of Kreutz sungrazers; tiny ones divebomb the sun almost every day. This fragment is bigger and brighter than usual.
Like other Kreutz comets, this one will probably disintegrate when heated. But will that happen before it reaches the sun or after?

Solar Storm Forecast | A Fizzle, Fast Wind, & Space Guests
Published 27th August 2020
This week our Sun quiets down from the series of solar storms and flares of last week. Although we were expecting one of the solar storms to hit Earth, it actually was near miss. The storm went just southeast of us. This was quite lucky for the recent Starlink launch because a similar storm from the same region did hit one of our upstream solar wind satellite monitors (STEREO A), and it was actually quite large! Since then the active regions that were firing the solar storms have rotated to the Sun's farside so things have become quiet again. However, we are still managing to stay in the low 70s for solar flux so amateur radio and emergency responders can expect to hold on to marginal radio propagation this week. GPS reception should also remain good, especially on Earth's dayside. Plus we have some more fast solar wind coming our way, which could give us a decent show of aurora at high latitudes. Learn the details of the solar storm near miss, see why it was lucky for Starlink, and find out what else our Sun has in store this week!

Research indicates the star stuff that formed our solar system contained more than enough hydrogen to create all of the Earth’s water.
Earth's oceans may have formed directly from the “star stuff” that coalesced into the early solar system, according to new research – challenging the idea that most of Earth’s water was delivered here by meteorites and comets.

ETs are abducting people and collecting their genetic material. They are abducting animals. And they are also abducting plants! As these accounts will show, ETs have been collecting a wide variety of plants for a very long time.
And that's not all. If you are taken onboard a UFO, the last thing you might expect to see is a forest. And yet, this has happened more than you might think.
And the cases get even stranger. In some cases, ETs provide advice about gardening. In others, they use more direct methods. Imagine a UFO shines down and causes a plant to double in size. There's more than one case like it!
Why are ETs collecting plants and growing forests onboard UFOs? What is the motive behind this agenda? ETs have been warning people about Earth changes for many years. Perhaps they have decided to take action themselves. Could UFOs be like Noah's Ark, trying to save the species of our planet?
Only one thing is for sure: ETs are here, and they are taking our plants.
If you are interested in learning more about cases like these, see my book, "Not from Here: Volume 2," available here (https://www.amazon.com/dp/153280458X/ref=as_sl_pc_qf_sp_asin_til?tag=officialweb0f-20&linkCode=w00&linkId=97cd2e7b79e304f582d246932da597d9&creativeASIN=153280458X).

Non Corporeal Intelligence & UFOs
Published 30th August 2020
Some believe that a non corporeal intelligence and #UFOs go hand and hand that the UFO phenomenon is not a physical phenomenon but that what we are experiencing an interaction or contact with a non corporeal intelligence that can manipulate our reality and make us see what we want to see....some say the classic image of the grey alien is just a humanoid facade put on by this intelligence to mimic and fit into our narrative to what we believe extraterrestrials would look like. Is it possible that this phenomenon mimics our technological advancements? before tic tacs and flying saucers there where unidentified airships and before that there were vmanas and chariots of the gods. Many aspects of the abduction phenomenon tie into the legends of pagan myth for example fairly folk...light beings and angels...is it the phenomenon that is changing or is that we are changing the myth?John Keel initially believed that we were dealing with extraterrestrial visitors but later in his life linked UFOs to supernatural concepts such as monsters, ghosts and demons. Keel used the term "ultraterrestrials" to describe UFO occupants he believed to be non-human entities capable of taking on whatever form they want. Here's where this idea in my opinion gets muddy. If we are to consider the case of Bob Lazar, and the recent claims made in one of the latest NYT articles of recovered crashed off-world vehicles, where physical craft have been retrieved and is being studied. This idea that these craft and these beings are just a facade put on by a nonphysical intelligence goes out the window. We must consider the reality that if they have recovered craft, they most likely have recovered occupants. I am surprised no one saw that hidden bombshell when reading the NYT article...Id have to say I lost some sleep over it... for example, consider cases like the crash in Aztec New Mexico did happen and bodies where recovered. So why did the mask or this facade not fade... as the lifeless occupant and chunks off world vehicles laid sprawled out..if its all just a facade why did it not fade back to where it came from? Like the image fades away when the film roll breaks and the projector shuts off? It looks like we are dealing with physical craft and physical beings at least in what we believe to be physical in our reality.I often think to my self, how can we expect to classify or explain within the parameters of human science or logic this alien phenomenon...we may be looking at the concept of physical reality in all the wrong ways..through a human lens.

The UAP also showed signs of anomalous acceleration, disappearing and reappearing in different spots in the sky, confirmed by two in the jet and observers on the ground near the Arak Heavy Water Reactor. The object was estimated to go between Mach 7 and Mach 10.

1979 Val Johnson UFO Encounter
Published 28th August 2020

Have you been to the Marshall County Historical Society Museum on E. Johnson Avenue, Warren, Minnesota? Visitors will feel the nostalgia of living in a small 1880s community through its historical buildings at the Settler’s Square. A stroll along the boardwalk presents attractions like a vintage bank, barbershop, tavern, school, church and many more. Its new 10,000 square foot-Visitor Centre has been attracting more guests because of its many exhibits, war artifacts room, collection of antique vehicles, and the so-called “UFO Car,” undoubtedly one of the museum’s star attractions. According to Sherlyn Meiers, Marshall County Historical Society Director, large crowds come to the museum just to see the early 1970s Ford LTD cruiser. And what is so special about this outmoded car that piques the interest of more people than a 1912 Maxwell, a Hart Parr Steamer, and a Studebaker Wagon of 1870s? The car with a shattered windshield and bent antennas is by all means not just any ordinary car. It was a central character in an alleged UFO encounter in 1979 which is popularly known as the “Val Johnson Incident” with Marshall County, Minnesota Deputy Sheriff Val Johnson as the sole witness of an out-of-this-world experience. Was it perpetrated by a force from outside of the human realm? Did Johnson face head-on an unidentified flying object?

Aurora From Space
Published 28th August 2020
The sight of the Earth's aurora from space is one of the most stunning views of our planet. Visible thanks to the efforts of the crew of the International Space Station (ISS), these incredible images were unimaginable just a few decades ago.
The aurora is caused by solar winds buffeting against our atmosphere. The ionised particles flowing through the electromagnetic field around our planet begin to glow in beautiful colours, creating these mesmerising lights in the sky. This same field, known as the magnetosphere, protects us from harmful radiation from the sun and other sources throughout our solar system.
The International Space Station is a site of great scientific significance. Astronauts from across the globe conduct research which expands our understanding of the planet we live on, as well as discovering how different objects and processes respond to a zero gravity environment. However, it is perhaps equally important as a symbol of international cooperation and a source of inspiration. The scientists on board conduct experiments designed by schoolchildren across the globe, maintain communications with amateur radio enthusiasts and even perform social media stunts, all to educate people about space and sustain our collective fascination with growth and scientific development.

Radio Science
Published 3rd February 2019 & 31st August 2020
Radio waves are used to communicated with spacecraft. We use them to send commands to the spacecraft and download data from them. But in many cases we can use the radio wave itself as a measuring instrument or sensor. In this episode of Celestial Sphere we look at few examples where radio waves are used as part of the sensors suite on a spacecraft. This is a two part series. Part 2 will focus on the use of radio waves to make scientific observations and take measurements.

NASA's latest mission is heading to the Trojan asteroids to help us answer some of the biggest questions about the origin of our solar system.
As of August 2020, NASA officially approved the construction of its asteroid hunting spacecraft named Lucy.
Lucy will be the first space mission in history to be launched to so many different destinations in independent orbits around our sun. The spacecraft will complete a 12-year journey visiting eight different asteroids in two large asteroid clouds near Jupiter known as the Trojan asteroids.
Although Lucy won’t be landing on any of the asteroids, the spacecraft will be mapping their surface geology, color, composition, densities, and it will even be keeping a look out for surprising mini satellites or rings that the asteroids could be pulling in.
Using an extensive suite of advanced instruments, Lucy will revolutionize our knowledge of planetary origins and the formation of the solar system.
Find out more about asteroid hunting Lucy in this Countdown to Launch.

Our Solar System Is Traveling Through The Debris Of Ancient Supernovae
Published 29th August 2020
We are all travelling through a cloud of ancient radioactive debris left behind by supernova explosions, according to a team of researchers looking in the ocean. By examining deep-sea sediments, experts from the Australian National University have been uncovering the mystery surrounding the space around our solar system.
The team examined sediment known to date back 33,000 years using a sensitive mass spectrometer and found traces of the isotope iron-60 formed when stars die. For the last few thousand years the solar system has been moving through a denser cloud of gas and dust and the team believe this is depositing iron-60 in our oceans.

The Sun Just Unleashed A Monster Eruption
Published 31st August 2020
The sun unleashed a monster eruption of super-hot plasma Monday (Aug. 31) captured on camera by a NASA spacecraft. The giant sun eruption, called a solar prominence, occurred at 0100 UTC. The prominence was so large, it expanded beyond the camera view of NASA's Solar Dynamics Observatory (SDO).
A colossal loop of glowing red plasma erupts from the higher left of the sun arcing up and out
of frame as it blasts away from the star. The red-glowing looped material is plasma, a hot gas
made of electrically charged hydrogen and helium.
The solar eruption is not headed straight for Earth, but it could deliver a glancing blow to our planet on Friday (Sep. 4).

Exploring The Tychos: Simon Shack, Tycho Brahe, Retrograde Mars & The Vital Importance Of The Moon
Published 30th August 2020
If someone told you that evidence suggests that the sun may not be the center of the solar system, and that while earth is not stationary it is possible that earth does not revolve around the sun, would you immediately reject that possibility and call them names because you are so convinced that the heliocentric model is correct that you will not entertain any challenges to that model?
What if you learned that the astronomer most famous for presenting the deciding arguments showing that the planetary data support the heliocentric model, Johannes Kepler, was in recent decades found to have falsified his data (data collected by the rigorous observations of his own mentor, who had died mysteriously), falsified in particular to try to force the heliocentric model to accommodate the motions of the planet Mars, whose motions are so difficult to explain that Kepler referred to his research on that planet as his "war on Mars" and ominously declared that: "By the study of the orbits of Mars, we must either arrive at the secrets of astronomy, or remain forever in ignorance of them" -- would the information of Kepler's apparently deliberate falsification (discovered in 1988 by a professor of the history of astronomy) make you any more open to examining evidence that Kepler's theory might not actually explain all of the evidence we have available to us regarding our own solar system?
This video is not supporting the flat earth theory, which I have examined and found to be hopelessly out of line with available research, nor is it supporting the concept of "geocentrism," which continues to be maintained by some individuals to this day (often in conjunction with a literalist interpretation of ancient scriptures).
Instead, this video explores some aspects of the important arguments of researcher Simon Shack, author of the "Tychos" model, which argues that the data and evidence we have available may best be explained by the hypothesis that our sun is part of a binary system -- as in fact over 80% of the stars we can examine appear to be as well (if not binary, then some other multiple and not solo, according to modern astronomy).
Simon's work suggests that Tycho Brahe, to whom Kepler acted as assistant and student, formulated a more accurate model of the heavens, but that after Brahe's untimely death, Kepler "flipped it on its head" and instead argued for a heliocentric solar system, despite data which contradicted Kepler's assertions -- and that if we update Tycho's analysis to include some of what we've discovered about binary systems, we can explain some evidence which poses serious problems for the heliocentric theory and which suggests that the heliocentric model may be gravely flawed and in need of radical revision.
You can see more about Simon's work and his Tychos model at tychos.info. This video cannot possibly explore all the evidence that Simon discusses: the interested viewer is also urged to check out Simon's 2018 book presenting a wealth of evidence and analysis.
I myself am open to exploring all the evidence and have not "made up my mind" about the mechanics of our solar system -- but I am keenly aware of other evidence which shows that we have been misled about a number of extremely important subjects including aspects of humanity's ancient history, and as discussed in this video, the subject of the motions of the heavenly bodies and the cycles of the heavens is closely related to my own area of research regarding the suppression of humanity's ancient wisdom and the undeniable existence of a world-wide system linking the ancient myths and the stars.

Typhoon Maysak sideswiped the Japanese island of Okinawa on Monday, with wind gusts as high as 101 mph, and is forecast to intensify into the equivalent of a Category 4 storm as it moves toward eventual landfall in South Korea. Maysak is currently the equivalent of a strong Category 3 hurricane, and is traversing warm ocean waters in an environment that is favorable for further intensification, according to the Joint Typhoon Warning Center (JTWC).
The storm is the second tropical system to head toward the Korean peninsula in a week, after Typhoon Bavi struck North Korea on Aug. 26. However, Maysak is expected to be more intense than Bavi was.
Though the storm’s center was passing about 50 miles west of the island, Okinawa experienced hurricane force wind gusts on Monday. At 10 a.m., Naha Airport recorded sustained winds of 47 mph, with a gust to 82 mph. Kadena Air Base observed sustained winds of 49 mph, with a gust to 77 mph.

The Toyota Lunar Cruiser
Published 1st September 2020
https://blog.toyota.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2019/03/Toyota-space-rover-concept-03.jpg
The Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) and Toyota Motor Corporation (Toyota) have announced today that they have named their manned pressurised rover the Lunar Cruiser. This follows a period of research into developing a lunar rover that uses fuel cell electric vehicle (FCEV) technologies.
The name Lunar Cruiser was chosen because of the long-held familiarity with Land Cruiser among consumers and development team members alike. The decision was made based on the quality, durability and reliability expected of the pressurised lunar rover – matching those values long held sacrosanct by Toyota for its unrivalled, all-wheel drive utility vehicle.
JAXA and Toyota signed a joint research agreement to work on a manned pressurised lunar rover last year, with an expected launch date in the latter half of the 2020s. The work involves the use of simulations to confirm power and heat dissipation performance while driving, the manufacture and assessment of prototype tyres and the use of virtual reality and full-scale models to consider the cabin layout for equipment.
Part of their focus has been working with a variety of industries to create new partners under the title of “Team Japan”, based on the theme of a lunar society pioneered by the manned pressurised rover. The meetings focus on how the manned pressurised rover becomes the starting point of a vision of a future lunar surface-based society, while discussing the challenges associated with this concept.
JAXA and Toyota will gather the knowledge, experience and technological capabilities of enterprises from across a variety of industries in their attempt to realise their vision of sustaining continuous activities on the surface of the moon as “Team Japan” moving forward.

Can The Moon Be A Person? As Lunar Mining Looms, A Change Of Perspective Could Protect Earth's Ancient Companion
Published 27th August 2020
Everyone is planning to return to the moon. At least 10 missions by half a dozen nations are scheduled before the end of 2021, and that's only the beginning.
Even though there are international treaties governing outer space, ambiguity remains about how individuals, nations and corporations can use lunar resources.
In all of this, the moon is seen as an inert object with no value in its own right.
But should we treat this celestial object, which has been part of the culture of every hominin for millions of years, as just another resource?

Close Encounter With Mars - We Are Fast Approaching The Red Planet
Published 1st September 2020
Earth and Mars are converging for a close encounter this Fall, one of the best since 2003, and their separation is rapidly shrinking–negative 9 km/s as of Sep. 1st. You are literally approaching the Red Planet.
Just a few days ago the brightness of Mars surpassed that of Sirius, the brightest star in the sky. Suddenly, Mars is almost bright enough to see in daylight and an easy target for backyard telescopes.
The best is yet to come. By the night of closest approach on Oct. 6th (0.4149 AU), Mars will more than double in brightness again, outshining everything in the night sky except Venus and the Moon. Throughout this apparition, the south pole will remain tilted toward Earth, giving observers a good view of the breakup of the ice cap as Martian spring turns into summer.
Can’t wait? Right now, a good time to look is just before daybreak when Mars is high in the southern sky. Keep watching as twilight creeps up the sky. The planet’s burnt orange hue looks beautiful when surrounded by the day’s first hint of morning blue.

They said this breakthrough is a “milestone” that could “significantly improve” our chances of finding extraterrestrial intelligence by dramatically expanding the number of stars available for searching. They said that, with their new analytical technique, they’ve increased the number of stars that can be analyzed by more than 200 times and have placed the best limits ever on the prevalence of artificial radio transmitters, dubbed techno-signatures, in the Milky Way.

ETs have been studying our planet for a very long time. They seem to be interested in all things Earth. They have taken humans onboard their craft. They have collected a wide variety of plants. And they are also taking animals. In fact, there are several cases on record in which experiencers have seen collections of live animals onboard UFOs. This video is not about animal mutilations; it's about something much more bizarre. As strange as it sounds, some abductees report being taken to visit alien zoos, containing animals from Earth, and also animals from other planets. Some UFOs, it seems, are very much like "Noah's Ark," preserving a wide variety of species.
Some of these cases have a very high level of strangeness, including chimera-like creatures from ancient mythology, or even in a few cases, dinosaur-like creatures.
The ETs' interest in animals is also betrayed by the many cases in which UFOs and extraterrestrials have been caught taking animals of all kinds. Farm animals seem to be a primary target, but a wide variety of animals have been abducted into UFOs.
In a few cases, ETs seem to be particularly interested in our closest animal companions, dogs and cats. One case contains a shocking revelation explaining why they have such a strong interest in our pets.
Alien zoos may sound strange, but there are too many cases to ignore. Something very strange is happening here.

The San Diego Sphere
Published 5th September 2020
On September 10th, 2014, Rick Ybarra pulled into his driveway near San Diego, CA around 6:45pm when he noticed a sphere in the sky. A retired Department of Defense therapist who worked at Naval Base San Diego and Submarine Base Point Loma, we recently spoke to him about the sighting.
The sphere had four meaningful observables, which were photographed in detail and captured on video:
*Stop/start movement
*Failure to move with the wind
*Metallic appearance
*Seemingly independent moving antennae-like appendages
It was 4-6 feet in size and 400 feet above the ground — Ybarra states he first thought it was a balloon, but slowly moved away from the hypothesis when it failed to move with the wind, and had a distinct metallic shell reflecting the twilight to the west. Ybarra showed the footage to colleagues in his chain of command — they had no explanation.
We sifted through historical archives and found a nearly identical craft in Brazilian Air Force files from 1968.
Days after his 2014 sighting, Ybarra says he felt an "urge" to go outside early in the morning when he noticed a fast-moving, spherical object on the horizon.

Space Weather News | Two Snake-Like Filaments & A Solar Storm
Published 2nd September 2020
This week our Sun shows more signs of the new solar cycle. Two big filaments have rotated into Earth-view and one has erupted as a solar storm! That we are seeing filaments on the Sun again is a welcome reminder that activity is ramping up. Even though the first filament launched to the East of Earth, we are watching the second filament closely because it is passing through the Earth-strike zone now and if it launches over the next couple of days, it could be an Earth-directed solar storm. Meanwhile, we are currently feeling the effects of some fast solar wind that has bumped us to storm levels multiple times and brought aurora down to mid-latitudes sporadically. Expect these conditions to continue over the next day or so before things return to quiet conditions. Learn the details of the ongoing solar storm as well as the filaments on the Sun, see how they could affect you, and find out what else our Sun has in store this week.

Has Earth's Oxygen Rusted The Moon For Billions Of Years?
Published 4th September 2020
https://scx1.b-cdn.net/csz/news/800/2020/1-hasearthsoxy.jpg
To the surprise of many planetary scientists, the oxidized iron mineral hematite has been discovered at high latitudes on the Moon, according to a study published today in Science Advances led by Shuai Li, assistant researcher at the Hawai'i Institute of Geophysics and Planetology (HIGP) in the UH Mānoa School of Ocean and Earth Science and Technology (SOEST).
Iron is highly reactive with oxygen—forming reddish rust commonly seen on Earth. The lunar surface and interior, however, are virtually devoid of oxygen, so pristine metallic iron is prevalent on the Moon and highly oxidized iron has not been confirmed in samples returned from the Apollo missions. In addition, hydrogen in solar wind blasts the lunar surface, which acts in opposition to oxidation. So, the presence of highly oxidized iron-bearing minerals, such as hematite, on the Moon is an unexpected discovery.

Titan: Saturn's Largest Moon
Published 5th September 2020
As with many objects in outer space, it's important to not just understand what it is, but how it was discovered from here on Earth.
Dutch astronomer Christiaan Huygens was the one to find TItan in 1655. Huygens was inspired by after Galileo found the four largest moons of Jupiter in 1610. While also being impressed with how much Galileo improved telescopes as a whole. So thus with the help of his brother he built his own telescopes, and eventually found TItan as a result. It was the sixth moon ever discovered, after Earth's Moon and the Galilean moons of Jupiter. So quite an achievement in its own right, and again, one that was found via homemade telescope.
That's a very special story if you think about it. Because this is a tale of astronomers being inspired by others that came before them (in this case Galileo) and wanting to mimic the success of those that inspired them...and succeeding. And they did it with telescopes that pale in comparison to the ones that we have now, and yet they did it. Inspiring indeed.
Now, as for the naming of the moon, it was first called Saturni Luna, which if you can't tell was basically "Saturn's Moon" in Latin. While the name was technically official for a while, even being put into a book of names about the objects in the sky, things got a bit convoluted as more moons got found around Saturn. Why? Because instead of names, they did numbers, with each moon being named "Saturn 1" and so on and so forth. Which on one hand makes sense because it seems easier to number things than name then. But eventually that had a bit of a problem because Saturn's moons started to get discovered in greater numbers. In fact, more moons of Saturn have been discovered within the last few years bringing its total to 82, and thus numbering them would've been hard for a whole host of reasons. So, names were brought back into the equations...so to speak.
The name Titan, and the names of all seven satellites of Saturn then known, came from John Herschel. He suggested the names of the mythological Titans, the brothers and sisters of Cronus, the Greek name of Saturn. In Greek mythology, the Titans were a race of powerful deities, descendants of Gaia and Uranus, that ruled during the legendary Golden Age. They were then dethroned by Zeus after prophecy foretold of Zeus kil*ing Cronus. They remained in the world, and many other stories from video games to Disney movies have shown them in a feud with the gods.
Thus, the name stuck, and the rest is history. Not surprisingly, the solar system as a whole has names dedicated to not just the Greek and Roman pantheons, but to others as well. Which if we're being honest, paints a much more interesting picture than just giving them numbers.
Titan’s internal structure isn’t entirely known, which isn't too much of a stretch when you think about our attempts to study it, but one model based on data from the Cassini-Huygens mission suggests Titan has five primary layers. The innermost layer is a core of rock about 2,500 miles (4,000 kilometers) in diameter. Around that core is a shell of water ice—a special type called ice-VI that is only found at extremely high-pressures. Around that is a layer of salty liquid water, on top of which sits an outer crust of water ice. As for the surface layer, well that is coated with organic molecules that have rained or otherwise settled out of the atmosphere in the form of sands and liquids.

Io: Jupiter's Volcanic Moon
Published 6th September 2020
In many ways, Io is one of the more popular moons of Jupiter. It's been referenced many a time as we'll note later. But how did we learn about this very special moon?
The first reported observation of Io was made by Galileo Galilei on 7 January 1610 using a 20x-power, refracting telescope at the University of Padua. However, in that observation, Galileo could not separate Io and Europa due to the low power of his telescope, so the two were recorded as a single point of light. Io and Europa were seen for the first time as separate bodies during Galileo's observations of the Jovian system the following day, January 8th, 1610 ( this is used as the discovery date for Io by the IAU).
The discovery of Io and the other Galilean satellites of Jupiter was published in Galileo's Sidereus Nuncius in March 1610. In his Mundus Jovialis, published in 1614, Simon Marius claimed to have discovered Io and the other moons of Jupiter in 1609, one week before Galileo's discovery. Galileo doubted this claim and dismissed the work of Marius as plagiarism. Regardless, Marius's first recorded observation came from 29 December 1609 in the Julian calendar, which equates to January 8th, 1610 in the Gregorian calendar, which Galileo used. Given that Galileo published his work before Marius, Galileo is credited with the discovery.
But the end of the "discovery" did not end there. Because for basically 250 years various astronomers tried to learn more about Io. But because of its place in space all they could usually see was a ball of light. It would take a while for them to start to parse out the details of the moon.
Improved telescope technology in the late 19th and 20th centuries allowed astronomers to resolve (that is, see as distinct objects) large-scale surface features on Io. In the 1890s, Edward E. Barnard was the first to observe variations in Io's brightness between its equatorial and polar regions, correctly determining that this was due to differences in color and albedo between the two regions and not due to Io being egg-shaped, as proposed at the time by fellow astronomer William Pickering, or two separate objects, as initially proposed by Barnard. Later telescopic observations confirmed Io's distinct reddish-brown polar regions and yellow-white equatorial band.
Telescopic observations in the mid-20th century began to hint at Io's unusual nature. Spectroscopic observations suggested that Io's surface was devoid of water ice (a substance found to be plentiful on the other Galilean satellites).
So as you can see, this wasn't just a discovery of trying to find the moon, but to try and understand what it was and what it was like in regards to its very nature. Which would be further expanded upon in the future via attempts to explore the moon with probes and satellites.
In the late 1960s, a concept known as the Planetary Grand Tour was developed in the United States by NASA and the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL). It would allow a single spacecraft to travel past the asteroid belt and onto each of the outer planets, including Jupiter, if the mission was launched in 1976 or 1977. However, there was uncertainty over whether a spacecraft could survive passage through the asteroid belt, where micrometeoroids could cause it physical damage, or the intense Jovian magnetosphere, where charged particles could harm sensitive electronics.

Moons Beyond Our Solar System
Published 6th September 2020
Most of the planets in the Solar System have moons. We have discovered almost 200 in our Solar System alone, and so we expect that the Milky Way is teeming with moons- perhaps more moons than planets and stars. With this many, it greatly increases the number of worlds in the galaxy which could support life- and so we are keen to find them. However, they are so distant and dark that detecting extrasolar moons, or "exomoons", is a tremendous challenge.

August 2020: Earth Changes Summary
Published 4th September 2020
Last month, more than 1.5 million acres burned in 9 days in California, forcing the evacuation of more than 100,000 people. The fires were caused by unusual intense 'dry-lightning storms', which focused on the San Francisco Bay area in a short time period - an event comprising around 11 percent of the average annual lightning activity for the entire state...
No, it's not 'man-made global warming', as the media claims, nor is it 'elite-made weather', as alternative media claims. The climate globally is 'going wonky' in part because the planet's very atmosphere is changing.
Extreme weather has only worsened the exodus of people from California over the last decade. About five million Californians have left the state for a net population loss of more than one million people. Colorado was also hit last month by the largest wildfire in the state's history. The Pine Gulch fire has burned 139,006 acres and left ranchers with little-to-no grazing for cattle and worried about long-term impacts.
In Algeria, over 1,200 fires have devoured almost 9,000 hectares of forests. The North African country has experienced more frequent forest fires in recent years but the causes remain unclear. Negligence? Coal-traffickers? Increased lightning strikes? Who knows, but the fact is something unusual is going on there too.
Sheets of rain, typically resulting heavy flooding, landslides and huge hailstones continued destroying houses, basic infrastructure and crops around the world in August, impacting the lives of dozens of millions of people. In South Asia alone, an estimated 17.5 million people suffered the consequences of record-breaking monsoon floods. Nearly 700 died and thousands have been displaced. China, Bangladesh and India continue to be the most affected.
South Korea has suffered from unusually heavy downpours for over 2 months now, marking the country's longest and worst-ever monsoon season. Now, the strongest typhoon of the year is on its way to the Korean peninsula, so the deluge is unlikely to abate anytime soon.
Snow in Australia, southern Brazil and South Africa is normal this time of year - it's still winter there (barely), but what are we to make of August snowfalls in Yunnan, China; Dagestan, Russia; the Alps and Pyrenees in Europe? A foretaste perhaps of a cold northern winter to come.
Given the amount of water falling out of the sky the world over, if the unprecedented slowdown in the North Atlantic Gulf Stream holds, we may soon be entering an extended winter.

Title: The Exceptional Astronomical Discoveries of the Ancient Greeks
Abstract: In 800 BC, the Greeks were eking out an existence in impoverished city states and infertile fields, the illiterate remnants of an apocalypse that destroyed their civilization 400 years prior. They could not have imagined that they would rise from the ashes to become the premier civilization of the Mediterranean, spreading their new culture from Spain to India. Greek innovations in politics, philosophy, and art would form the foundation of Western civilization. Perhaps the most impactful Greek contributions were in science. Far surpassing all other ancient civilizations, the Greeks used the scientific method to discover Earth's shape, measure its circumference, calculate the size and distance of the Moon, and debate whether Earth orbits the Sun. I will tell the story of this remarkable civilization, discuss how they learned about the cosmos, and summarize the pivotal role their achievements played in kickstarting the Scientific Revolution and ushering in modernity.

Sometimes some of the prettiest sights for skywatchers require no special equipment, but are best appreciated with our unaided eyes. Over the next several mornings, look eastward and you'll see the Moon rising against a background of distant stars.
The brightest of these stars is Aldebaran. It's an orange giant star in the zodiac constellation Taurus the Bull.
September 9, 2020: Between Aldebaran and the Moon, at a distance of 150 light-years, is one of the closest star clusters in our neighborhood of the Milky Way, called the Hyades. Just above the Moon is another star cluster called the Pleiades, also known as the Seven Sisters. At 410 light-years away, this cluster is more than twice distant as the Hyades but it appears much brighter because it contains young hot stars, and is much more concentrated in volume.
If you miss the show on Wednesday, you have a second chance to see it on Thursday morning.
But wait there's more!
This must be the best part of the sky at this time of the year! You can see bright Venus , Sirius, Betelgeuse, Rigel, Procyon, Pollux, Castor, Capella light up the morning sky.

Astronomers using the Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array (ALMA) and the SPHERE (Spectro-Polarimetric High-contrast Exoplanet Research) instrument on ESO’s Very Large Telescope (VLT) have discovered a rare circumtriple protoplanetary disk with misaligned dust rings around the young hierarchical triple system GW Orionis. They give two possible scenarios for the misalignment: either the disk was torn apart by the gravitational pull from the stars, or by a newborn planet.

Paul Dean | Possible UFO Detection Documents Through FOIA
Streamed & Published 7th September 2020
Guest Paul Dean discusses what he has uncovered through Freedom of information documents, un-mined sources of government entities that have detected, tracked and made conclusions on anomalous aerial objects. There have been extremely unusual aerospace events; plus, the results of FOIA work into historical records of the USAF Space Command; NORAD; the FAA, and more.
BIO: Paul Dean is an Australian researcher who focuses on government and military involvement and response to the so-called UFO phenomena. Working alone for 20 years, Paul became an expert in official documentation related to the UFO issue. Seven years ago he began tackling the problem directly, and became instrumental in seeing that the Australian government release hitherto classified files from the Royal Australian Air Force, Air Services Australia, the Australian Transport Safety Bureau, and the National Archives of Australia. He works extensively with Australian based researcher Keith Basterfield on UFO case analysis and the preservation of UFO-related records. Further, Paul started working on the US scene with "old school" researchers like Barry Greenwood, Brad Sparks and Jan Aldrich.
Paul and his team use the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) to obtain records, and he is hot on the trail of 100s of never-before-seen classified military files. Recent discoveries include UFO sighting reports created during the Vietnam War, and administrative records related to a pair of highly classified "UFO tracking" programs which were ran by the US Army and US Air Force during America's involvement in that conflict. Other fresh finds include Federal Bureau of Investigation records related to the interrogation of UFO researchers in the 1970's, and a current Federal Aviation Administration system for logging military intercepts of unknown objects in America's airspace. Paul has also begun requesting UFO records from the USAF's Air Force Space Command, which will include files from the 21st Space Wing and the vital Joint Functional Component Centre for Space at Vandenburg Air Force Base. Paul believes there are likely hundreds of thousands of UFO records still held by elements of the US government, and works tirelessly to source their location and availability status. All-in-all, Paul has acquired a total of 240,000 pages of UFO-related government and military records from around the world, and tens of millions of pages of non-government UFO records, including books, newsletters, monographs, newspaper articles, case studies, letters, and magazine articles.

Jupiter Facts & History
Published 8th September 2020
A key part of astronomy as a whole is knowing when people first saw and documented key objects in the sky, this of course includes the planets like Jupiter. But as history has shown us, it's not something that was discovered recently, but rather, farther into the past than you would expect.
The first finding of Jupiter dates back to at least the Babylonian astronomers of the 7th or 8th century BC. The ancient Chinese also observed the orbit of Suìxīng and established their cycle of 12 earthly branches based on its approximate number of years; the Chinese language still uses its name when referring to years of age.
By the 4th century BC, these observations had developed into the Chinese zodiac, with each year associated with a Tai Sui star and god controlling the region of the heavens opposite Jupiter's position in the night sky; these beliefs survive in some Taoist religious practices and in the East Asian zodiac's twelve animals, now often popularly assumed to be related to the arrival of the animals before Buddha. The Chinese historian Xi Zezong has claimed that Gan De, an ancient Chinese astronomer, discovered one of Jupiter's moons in 362 BC with the unaided eye. If accurate, this would predate Galileo's discovery by nearly two millennia. Though obviously this is a bit up for debate.
Either way though, as you can see, Jupiter has been known about in the sky for quite some time, with many different civilizations keeping track of it and the entities around it.
The Seasons And Orbits
In regards to our solar system, Jupiter is the biggest of our planets. It's so big you can put 1300 Earths into it with no issues. Which means that everything just has to be bigger on the planet, am I right? Well...no.
For example, in terms of its daily orbit? It rotates on its axis faster than any of the planets that we have in our system. For Jupiter, a day takes only about 10 hours. That's less than half an Earth day, and you thought time flew on our planet!
But there's a catch...because that "everything is bigger..." line does apply to how the year works on Jupiter. Given its distance from the sun, and how fast it moves, a year on Jupiter takes...12 Earth years! Or 11.86 to be a bit more precise. That means that for every 12 orbits around the sun for Earth, Jupiter will have just completed a singular loop. So as you can see, it's a bit of a tradeoff. You may have faster days on Jupiter, but you'll also have MUCH longer years.
Finally, for the seasons, the gas giants have a bit different of a system in terms to seasons. Because they are made of gas, no solid surface, and that means that their clouds dictate their seasonal outbursts as much as the sun does. To that end, Jupiter is known to be a very stormy planet, and then when it gets to a certain point near the sun, it can change in one area and be cold, while the other can be hot.
Oh, and seasons last 3 years there, so there's that.
Consider this one of the many reasons we don't see to inhabit Jupiter...for now.
The Moons
In 1610, Italian polymath Galileo Galilei discovered the four largest moons of Jupiter (now known as the Galilean moons) using a telescope; thought to be the first telescopic observation of moons other than Earth's.

Data From Yutu-2 Suggests Top Layer Of Lunar Regolith Is Material Thrown From Nearby Crater
Published 9th September 2020
https://scx1.b-cdn.net/csz/news/800/2019/2-moon.jpg
A team of researchers has found evidence suggesting that the regolith material on which the Chinese rover Yutu-2 is situated consists mainly of material that was thrown there when an asteroid struck the moon nearby. In their paper published in the journal Nature Astronomy, the group describes their analyses of data sent back by the rover and what they learned from it.
Back in late 2018, China made history by launching a probe to the far side of the moon, which subsequently released a lunar rover called Yutu-2 after it landed in January 2019. The landing site was the Von Karman Crater in the South Pole-Aitken Basin—believed to be the largest and oldest impact structure on the moon's surface. The rover was equipped with ground-penetrating radar that has been used to learn more about the materials that make up the lunar regolith.

'Second Sun' Theory Indicates That 'Planet Nine' Is Not Alone In The Outer Solar System
Published 8th September 2020
Our Sun had a companion and there could be many undiscovered dwarf planets in the outer Solar System. That’s according to a new paper from scientists from Harvard University.
Published recently in The Astrophysical Journal Letters, the paper by Dr. Avi Loeb, Professor of Science at Harvard and Harvard undergraduate student Amir Siraj goes against the dominate “lone star” thinking about the Sun’s origin.
Their radical-sounding theory that the Solar System may have once been a binary star system—so consisting of two stars orbiting a common point in space—perhaps shouldn’t come as a surprise.

Something Exploded On The Far Side Of The Sun
Published 9th September 2020
Solar Minimum is not as quiet as you think. In the early hours of September 8th, something exploded on the farside of the sun. The Solar and Heliospheric Observatory (SOHO) saw the debris flying over the sun's western limb.
The blast site was hidden from view, so we don't know what exploded. It probably wasn't a sunspot. More likely, a filament of magnetism became unstable and erupted, hurling bits of itself and surrounding plasma into space. The fact is that the Sun is at a minimum of activity and the cause of this large explosion is not yet entirely clear.
The resulting coronal mass ejection (CME) will miss Earth. But consider this: If the explosion had occurred only a couple weeks later, when the blast site would be facing Earth, we would now be bracing for a moderately strong geomagnetic storm.

A Flight Through the CANDELS Ultra Deep Survey Field
Published 9th September 2020
This visualization traverses the CANDELS Ultra Deep Survey (UDS) field to showcase the varied appearances of galaxies and their three-dimensional distribution. The sequence features a dense cluster of galaxies about 6 billion light-years away and extends to galaxies at more than twice that distance. Because the light from these galaxies has travelled for billions of years across space, the images show the galaxies as they appeared billions of years ago. In addition, the expansion of space has redshifted the light of these galaxies toward longer wavelengths (i.e., to the red end of the visible-light region and into the infrared-light region). The changes seen in galaxies during the fly-through illustrate the changes in galaxy structure and appearance over billions of years of cosmic history.
CANDELS is an acronym for the Cosmic Assembly Near-infrared Deep Extragalactic Legacy Survey project. One of the largest projects ever done with the Hubble Space Telescope, CANDELS surveyed five fields to study the development of galaxies over time. The CANDELS observations of the UDS field complement ground-based observations from the United Kingdom Infrared Telescope.
Astronomers and visual artists extracted over 26,000 galaxies from the Hubble UDS images and created a computer model based on the measured and estimated properties. Note that the distances used in the visualization are significantly compressed for cinematic purposes.

Astronomers have found at least 45 planets orbiting distant stars that possess Earth-like qualities including a similar atmosphere and life sustaining liquid water.
Experts from Luleå University of Technology, Sweden, created a new way to determine the habitability of these distant worlds by studying their atmosphere.
The team found a way to use information on 'atmospheric species', that is chemicals in the atmosphere, and how fast they escape into space to determine how close an exoplanet is in terms of temperature and composition to the Earth.

Looks Like The Pentagon Has No Intention Of Sharing UFO Information
Published 10th September 2020
https://hotair.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/pentagon-aerial.jpeg
Some disappointing news on the UFO front came out this week, likely dampening the hopes of many people in the ufology community who have been eagerly looking forward to some sort of forthcoming disclosure from the government on this subject. As regular readers are already aware, there was considerable excitement in the air this summer following a number of revelations and surprising announcements on the topic of Unidentified Aerial Phenomena (UAPs). First we saw a request from the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence, led by Marco Rubio, for a public report from the Pentagon’s UAP Task Force. This came as quite a surprise to people, including many in the government, who didn’t even know that we had a UAP Task Force.
That was followed by an official announcement of the formation of the task force by the Pentagon. After that, major newspapers such as the New York Times began digging into the subject, even raising the prospect of the potential disclosure of additional programs that might even include an acknowledgment of a government “crash retrieval program” that could be in possession of “off-world materials.

How Big Money Is Powering A Massive Hunt For Alien Intelligence
Published 10th September 2020
https://www.sciencemag.org/sites/default/files/styles/article_main_image_-_1280w__no_aspect_/public/telescope-grid.jpg
In 2015, Sofia Sheikh was at loose ends. Her adviser at the University of California (UC), Berkeley, with whom she studied hot, giant exoplanets, had left for a new job. Browsing reddit, she saw a post about a lavishly funded new search for extraterrestrial intelligence (SETI) and noticed that its leader was also at UC Berkeley: astrophysicist Andrew Siemion. She asked her former adviser for an introduction and met with Siemion when he was still unpacking boxes in a new office. “Everything’s kind of history from there,” says Sheikh, who became the team’s first undergraduate student.
Sheikh is now a Ph.D. student at Pennsylvania State University (Penn State), University Park, where she led a radio survey of 20 nearby star systems aligned with Earth’s orbital plane. If an intelligent civilization inhabited one of these systems and pointed a powerful telescope our way, they would see Earth passing in front of the Sun, and they might detect signs of life in our atmosphere. They might even decide to send us a message. The results, published in February in The Astrophysical Journal, were unsurprising. “Spoiler alert: no aliens,” Sheikh jokes.
SETI researchers are used to negative results, but they are trying harder than ever to turn that record around. Breakthrough Listen, the $100 million, 10-year, privately funded SETI effort Siemion leads, is lifting a field that has for decades relied on sporadic philanthropic handouts. Prior to Breakthrough Listen, SETI was “creeping along” with a few dozen hours of telescope time a year, Siemion says; now it gets thousands. It’s like “sitting in a Formula 1 racing car,” he says. The new funds have also been “a huge catalyst” for training scientists in SETI, says Jason Wright, director of the Penn State Extraterrestrial Intelligence Center, which opened this year. “They really are nurturing a community.”

Three Weeks Without Sunspots - NASA, NOAA To Discuss Solar Cycle Prediction During Media Teleconference
Published 12th September 2020
The Sun has been blank for 22 days--more than three weeks without sunspots. Solar Cycle 25 started months ago, but the new cycle is not yet strong enough to break the icy grip of Solar Minimum. Until sunspots reappear, solar activity will remain low.
At the moment there are no nascent sunspots on the solar disk, so the spotless days counter is likely to keep ticking. Stay Tuned for more blank Suns.
NASA, NOAA to Discuss Solar Cycle Prediction During Media Teleconference
NASA and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) will discuss predictions for the upcoming solar cycle during a media teleconference at 1 p.m. EDT Tuesday, Sept. 15. Tracking the solar cycle is a key part of better understanding the Sun and mitigating its impacts on human technology and infrastructure.
During the teleconference, experts on the Solar Cycle 25 Prediction Panel will discuss recent updates in solar cycle progress, and the forecast for the upcoming cycle, Solar Cycle 25.
The Sun goes through regular cycles of activity lasting approximately 11 years. During the most active part of the cycle, known as solar maximum, the Sun can unleash immense explosions of light, energy, and solar radiation – all of which create conditions known as space weather. Space weather can affect satellites and astronauts in space, as well as communications systems – such as radio and GPS – and power grids on Earth. When the Sun is most active, space weather events become more frequent.

This Massive Wall Of Galaxies Is Lurking Beyond The Milky Way
Published 14th September 2020
https://static01.nyt.com/images/2020/07/10/science/10SCI-OUTTHERE-COSMICWALL02/10SCI-OUTTHERE-COSMICWALL02-superJumbo.jpg
Cosmographers recently revealed a massive wall of galaxies lurking shockingly close by. But why was it hidden from our view for so long?
Cosmographers’ goal is to map out the observable universe, and from their findings we can not only learn more about the structures that make up everything we can see, we also gain insight into the things we cannot see.
The universe is full of massive structures hidden from our view, like the area of the sky above the South Pole that has been dubbed the “Zone of Avoidance,” in our very own Milky Way.
Some cosmographers pulled out some clever tricks to peer into the Zone of Avoidance. Using a catalog of the motions and distances of 18,000 galaxies called Cosmicflows-3, the scientists noticed that some galaxies were moving faster or slower than expected, and seemed to be drawn to something in the middle, something hidden in the Zone of Avoidance.
Computer models revealed a wall made up of thousands of galaxies at least 600 million light-years deep and 1.4 billion light-years across, forming a bow shape over the southern hemisphere’s sky.

The Virgo Supercluster
Published 12th September 2020
In this segment of our “How far away is it” video book, we cover our local supercluster, the Virgo Supercluster.
We begin with a description of the size, content and structure of the supercluster, including the formation of galaxy clusters and galaxy clouds. We then take a look at some of the galaxies in the Virgo Supercluster including: NGC 4314 with its ring in the core, NGC 5866, I Zwicky 18, the beautiful NGC 2841, NGC 3079 with is central gaseous bubble, M60, M100, M77 with its central supermassive black hole, NGC 3949, NGC 3310, NGC 4013, the unusual NGC 4522, NGC 4710 with its "X"-shaped bulge, NGC 1052, Hanny’s Voorwerp, NGC 3256 and NGC 4414. Then we continue with galaxy gazing with: NGC 1427A, NGC 3982, NGC 1300, NGC 5584, the dusty NGC 1316, NGC 4639, NGC 4319, NGC 3021 with is large number of Cepheid variables, NGC 3370, NGC 1309, and 7049.
At this point, we have enough distant galaxies to formulate Hubble’s Law and calculate Hubble’s Red Shift constant. From a distance ladder point of view, once we have the Hubble constant, and we can measure red shift, we can calculate distance. So we add Red Shift to our ladder. We end with a review of the distance ladder now that Red Shift has been added.

The Strangest Black Holes In The Universe!
Published 14th September 2020
You all must have come across the term Black Hole. But do you know what exactly a Black Hole is? Black holes are objects that are so dense that not even light can escape their gravity, and since nothing can travel faster than the light, nothing can escape from inside a black hole. To put it in simple words, Black hole is an object so dense that not even light can escape its surface. Have you ever wondered if light can’t escape a black hole, how can we see black holes?

Venus Facts & History
Published 12th September 2020
The History Of Venus
Before we get into the facts and figures and the numbers behind the planet that is Venus, we probably should talk about how we discovered it. After all, Astronomy has been going on for a very long time, and people have found planets like Venus like before you would expect them to.
In the Old Babylonian period, the planet Venus was known as Ninsi'anna, and later as Dilbat. The name "Ninsi'anna" translates to "divine lady, illumination of heaven", which refers to Venus as the brightest visible "star".
The ancient Greeks initially believed Venus to be two separate stars: Phosphorus, the morning star, and Hesperus, the evening star. Pliny the Elder credited the realization that they were a single object to Pythagoras in the sixth century BCE, while Diogenes Laërtius argued that Parmenides was probably responsible for this rediscovery. Though they recognized Venus as a single object, the ancient Romans continued to designate the morning aspect of Venus as Lucifer, literally "Light-Bringer", and the evening aspect as Vesper, both of which are literal translations of their traditional Greek names.
When the Italian physicist Galileo Galilei first observed the planet in the early 17th century, he found it showed phases like the Moon, varying from crescent to gibbous to full and vice versa. When Venus is furthest from the Sun in the sky, it shows a half-lit phase, and when it is closest to the Sun in the sky, it shows as a crescent or full phase. This could be possible only if Venus orbited the Sun, and this was among the first observations to clearly contradict the Ptolemaic geocentric model that the Solar System was concentric and centered on Earth. Which was one of many theories about how about our world and our universe were at the 'center of it all" when it fact that couldn't be further from the truth.
The atmosphere of Venus was discovered in 1761 by Russian polymath Mikhail Lomonosov. Venus's atmosphere was observed in 1790 by German astronomer Johann Schröter. Schröter found when the planet was a thin crescent, the cusps extended through more than 180°. He correctly surmised this was due to scattering of sunlight in a dense atmosphere. Later, American astronomer Chester Smith Lyman observed a complete ring around the dark side of the planet when it was at inferior conjunction, providing further evidence for an atmosphere.
Believe it or not, it wasn't until the 1900's when more details and research was done on Venus, mainly because its shape, distance and phases didn't give a lot of clues as to its various inner workings. Radar observations in the 1970s revealed details of the Venusian surface for the first time, thus giving scientists much more to work with.
The first robotic space probe mission to Venus, and the first to any planet, began with the Soviet Venera program in 1961. The United States' exploration of Venus had its first success with the Mariner 2 mission on 14 December 1962, becoming the world's first successful interplanetary mission, passing 34,833 km (21,644 mi) above the surface of Venus, and gathering data on the planet's atmosphere.
Since then, numerous probes and satellites have been taken to Venus to study it in some capacity. There has even been talks of putting a rover on the planet in the same style that NASA has done with Mars, but that hasn't happened as of yet.
Orbits and Rotations
Venus is known as our "sister planet", because in many ways it's like Earth. It's only a little bit smaller, has an atmosphere that is full of gasses, and we do know that it has a definitive surface like certain other planets in our solar system, but we'll get to that more later.

Here she discusses recent articles she has coauthored that were published in the New York Times concerning ongoing government interest in UFOs. The Navy now acknowledges that unidentified aerial phenomena (UAP) are real, and some officials say the unexplained objects seem to have capabilities beyond our current earthly technology. Additionally, it appears that materials have been collected and are being studied. Much of this interest is highly classified.

Solar Storm Forecast | Our Sun Has Bad Aim With Storms To The East & West
Published 15nd September 2020
This week our Sun continues to fire solar storms, but with some terrible aim! One in particular that launched to the west of Earth gave us in a beautiful display in coronagraphs. The source of this storm was not visible on the Earth-facing Sun, but it likely came from the filament regions we watched cross through our field of view last week. Sadly, the bright regions that fired the other non-Earth directed solar storms have since fizzled and we are hovering at the low edge of marginal-to-poor radio propagation this week on earth's dayside. We do have another bright region that will rotate into Earth- view in a few days, but it may only give us a slight boost in the solar flux so amateur radio operators will just have to hang in there this week. Meanwhile we also have a remnant coronal hole rotating into the Earth-strike zone over the next couple days that will send us a burst of fast wind. This should give aurora photographers at high latitudes a bit of a show, especially by mid week. Overall. though the storm is expected to be pretty mild. This is good news for GPS reception, which should be good everywhere, except possibly near the aurora. Learn the details of the near misses, catch up on aurora photos from recent solar storms, and see what else our Sun has in store this week!

Understanding the Sun’s behavior is an important part of life in our solar system. The Sun’s powerful outbursts can disturb the satellites and communications signals traveling around Earth, or one day, Artemis astronauts exploring distant worlds. NASA scientists study the solar cycle so we can better predict solar activity. As of 2020, the Sun has begun to shake off the sleep of minimum, which occurred in December 2019, and Solar Cycle 25 is underway. Scientists use several indicators to track solar cycle progress.

Measuring The Distance To The Moon Using Only A Smartphone Camera

Smartphones aren’t just communications devices, they’re packed with sensors and backed up by processing power, and using these I was able to perform a measurement of the distance to the moon on a whim. In the modern world science is not something that’s gated by access to technology, but is available to all. Albireo is a beautiful optical double star in the constellation of Cygnus. It is represented as the 'head of the swan', and when you view it in a telescope, two stars can be seen...one is blue and the other is orangish-gold. It has been debated for some time about whether this is a binary system or an optical binary. Research points to this being an optical double between the orange and blue star. However, the orange star has binary companion of its own! So when you are looking at this star, you are looking at a triple star system.
On a personal note, Albireo is special to me because I named my cat after this star. He has one blue eye and one golden eye, which is a genetic condition known as heterochromia. Meet him in this video!

NASA Satellites Spot Nanojets On The Sun

September Equinox 2020
Published 18th September 2020
The Equinox is when the Sun's rays are directly over the equator. That happens twice a year when day and night are almost equal in lengths.
The 2020 September Equinox happens on Tuesday, Sept. 22, at 13 31 UTC. Although the equinox happens at the same moment worldwide, your clock time will depend on your time zone. For time zones in the continental U.S., this equinox comes early in the morning on September 22 (9 31 a.m. EDT, 8 31 a.m. CDT, 7 31 a.m. MDT and 6 31 a.m. PDT).
Why does Earth have seasons?
The Earth has seasons not because it gets closer to the Sun in the summer and then further away from the Sun in the winter. It does get a little closer and further from the Sun in its orbit, but what really causes the seasons is the fact that the Earth is tilted.
Winter Solstice
High summer for the Southern Hemisphere, Winter for the Northern Hemisphere.
What happens in Spring and Fall?
Equinox: The time when the Sun crosses the plane of the Earth's equator, making equal length of night and day.

Elon Musk Is Set To Mine A Golden Asteroid Worth $700 Quintillion
Published 18th September 2020
Out there in space, right now above our heads, is a wealth of knowledge. And in this case, we mean that literally. Believe it or not, in our very solar system, there is an asteroid that is thought to be the remnants of a planet core. And that means that all those pricey metals that we have to dig for here on Earth, are exposed, and ripe for the taking. Estimates put this giant space faring gold mine at 10,000 quadrillion dollars, and who knows, if we can get up there to explore it up close, we may find that it is worth even more. What would this do to our economy? Just how rich would this make everyone on earth if it was split evenly? Are there any missions planned to get up there? Oh, we got your answers right here. In today’s video we are getting scientific, while making sure to not skimp out on the riches, so we can give you the scoop on this nearby, giant, golden asteroid. If it piques your interest, you’re not alone. None other than Elon Musk has made comments about his thoughts on mining this bad boy, and considering SpaceX will be the company that supports NASA in this quest, you better believe it’s something we should all take seriously. It would bring all new meaning to the phrase, the rich only get richer. So sit back, relax, and get ready to countdown from ten, as we fire all the thrusters and blast off into the final frontier to give you the scoop on the absurd amount of gold floating around in our solar system.

Meteorite Study Calls Into Doubt A Popular Theory About The Early Solar System
Published 16th September 2020
https://scx1.b-cdn.net/csz/news/800/2020/meteoritestu.jpg
It is generally accepted that the inner region of the early solar system was subject to an intense period of meteoric bombardment referred to as the late heavy bombardment. However, researchers have found evidence that suggests this period occurred slightly earlier than thought and was less intense but also more prolonged. Such details about this period could impact theories about the early Earth and the dawn of life.
Around 4 billion years ago, the solar system was far less hospitable than we find it now. Many of the large bodies we know and love were present, but probably looked considerably different, especially the Earth. We know from a range of sources, including ancient meteorites and planetary geology, that around this time there were vastly more collisions between, and impacts from, asteroids originating in the Mars-Jupiter asteroid belt.

Meteorites From Vesta Found On Asteroid Bennu
Published 21st September 2020

In an interplanetary faux pas, it appears some pieces of asteroid Vesta ended up on asteroid Bennu, according to observations from NASA’s OSIRIS-REx spacecraft. The new result sheds light on the intricate orbital dance of asteroids and on the violent origin of Bennu, which is a “rubble pile” asteroid that coalesced from the fragments of a massive collision.

Published 20th September 2020
For the last five years, on this series, Thunderbolts colleague Andrew Hall has presented an extraordinary reconstruction of catastrophic events on Earth, exploring the telltale clues these events imprinted on our planet’s surface. As Andy has explained, many of the fractal patterns we see on Earth cannot be explained through any traditional geological process. However, these geological features find intriguing analogues in some of the highest energy atmospheric phenomena seen in our solar system today.
In part one of this two part presentation, Andy presents the seventh installment of his "Eye of the Storm" series with an examination of the remarkable filamentary and dendritic patterns seen on planet Earth — patterns whose explanation may be found in the ancient events that created the cultural memory of a mythical creature, the dragon.

Sunset Over The Earth
Published 25th September 2020
8K HDR is the future of video. In a world first, we modified a RED Helium 8K camera to shoot 8K video fo the Earth in space. This incredible 8K video was shot over Belgium at sunset, capturing the sun's rays reflecting off the clouds minutes before it descends below the horizon. Shot using a Zeiss CP.3 T2 15mm XD lens, this video shows the Earth's true curvature with no barrel distortion from 120,000 feet (36,000 metres) altitude.
This stunning technical achievement was only possible thanks to the collaboration between our engineering department and the team at RED. Working closely with exclusive access to their design specs and internal software, we were able to modify the camera's thermal control system to develop a completely novel combined temperature regulation method which uses the extreme cold of space to offset the camera's own heat output. That's one way to void a warranty!

Heat, wildfires and smoke in the US West have been relentless. The climate engineers can continue the trend for as long as they choose. The scheduled weather for the West is for more of the same. In the eastern half of the US a round of engineered winter weather is being staged. As food crops and fish harvests around the world continue to collapse, the CV-19 societal lockdown scenario is being advanced. How long till forced vaccinations are a part of the equation? The following quote is from a statement just given to Geoengineering Watch by a medical physician, Dr. Anthony Parkes:
"When doctors refuse to even look at evidence on vaccine injuries or genetically engineered viruses, simply dismissing them as conspiracy theories, I truly fear for the future of humanity"~Anthony C Parkes MB, ChB, FRCS (London). In the Western Pacific, a broad area of interest has developed into Tropical Depression 15W, which is unlikely to affect significant land areas. Another area of interest persists to its west, with a low chance of formation.
In the east, a system or perhaps two could form off the coast of Mexico near the end of the five day forecast period. Chances also remain, albeit very slim, for a tropical cyclone near the Bahamas this weekend or early next week.

Full Harvest Moon
Published 26th September 2020
According to folklore, the Harvest Moon is the Full Moon that falls closest to the autumnal equinox, the beginning of northern autumn. In the days before light bulbs, farmers relied on moonlight to help them harvest their crops. Many crops ripen all at once in late summer and early autumn, so farmers found themselves extremely busy at this time of the year. They have to work after sundown. Moonlight became an essential part of farming and thus, the Harvest Moon was born.
There's more to the Harvest Moon, however, than just an old-fashioned name. It realy is special. Throughout the year the Moon rises, on average, about 50 minutes later each day. But near the Equinox, this difference shrinks to only 30 minutes.
The reason is, at the beginning of autumn the Moon's orbital path makes a narrow angle with the evening horizon. For several nights in a row around the time of the Harvest Moon, the Moon rises almost at sunset.
And you know what happens when the Moon rises at sunset? Low-hanging Moons are reddened by clouds and dust. Not only that, they are swollen to outlandish size by the Moon illusion, a well known but still mysterious trick of they eye, that makes low-hanging Moons seem much larger than they really are.
When you add these effects together the Harvest Moon often looks like a great pumpkin. The experience is repeated for several nights in a row around the Equinox. A great pumpkin-colored Moon rising in the east is a nice way to end the day.
At sundown on October 1-2, go outside, face east and enjoy the Harvest Moon.

In the first hour, Richard and special guest-host Victor Viggiani welcomes Canada's former Minister of Defence and Deputy Prime Minister to discuss the 15th anniversary of his groundbreaking statement on UFOs at the University of Toronto, as well as his views on the "sinister cabal" he says is controlling our political and financial institutions.
GUEST: The Hon. Paul Hellyer was Canada’s youngest Member of Parliament when he was first elected in 1949 and the youngest cabinet minister appointed to Louis S. St. Laurent’s government eight years later. Although Hellyer is best known for the unification of the Canadian Armed Forces and for his 1968 chairmanship of the Task Force on Housing and Urban Development, he has maintained a life-long interest in macroeconomics. This led him to form Action Canada, a populist movement dedicated to the concepts of full employment and low inflation with an emphasis on quality-of-life issues. Through the years, as a journalist and political commentator, he has continued to fight for economic reforms and has written several books on the subject. In recent years he has become interested in the extraterrestrial presence and their superior technology that we have been emulating. In September 2005 he became the first person of cabinet rank in the G8 group of countries to state unequivocally "UFO’s are as real as the airplanes flying overhead.

FBI Files On The Socorro UFO Landing, April 24th 1964
Published 28th September 2020
https://www.theblackvault.com/documentarchive/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/b-1.jpg
The Lonnie Zamora incident was an alleged UFO close encounter. It occurred on Friday, April 24, 1964, at about 5:50 p.m., on the outskirts of Socorro, New Mexico. Several primary witnesses emerged to report their version of the event, which included the craft’s approach, conspicuous flame, and alleged physical evidence left behind immediately afterward. Lonnie Zamora, a Socorro police officer who was on duty at the time, claimed to have come closest to the object and provided the most prolonged and comprehensive account. Some physical trace evidence left behind—burned vegetation and soil, ground landing impressions, and metal scrapings on a broken rock in one of the impressions—was subsequently observed and analyzed by investigators for the military, law enforcement, and civilian UFO groups. The event and its body of evidence is sometimes deemed one of the best documented and most perplexing UFO reports.
It was immediately investigated by the U.S. Army, U.S. Air Force, and FBI, and received considerable coverage in the mass media. It was one of the cases that helped persuade astronomer J. Allen Hynek, one of the primary investigators for the Air Force, that some UFO reports represented an intriguing mystery. After extensive investigation, the Air Force’s Project Blue Book was unable to come up with a conventional explanation and listed the case as an “unknown”.

Published 2nd October 2020
The mystery of planet nine deepens as a new theory from Amir Siraj and Avi Loeb of Harvard attempts to explain what exactly might be hiding in the oort cloud. A primordial black hole? Or. The suns lost twin? Was the Sun a binary twin and is that twin our planet nine?

Solar Storm Forecast | A Bright Region Leaves & Solar Storm Wanes With A Mini-Storm Kiss
Published 6th October 2020
This week we are settling down from an extended period of solar storming, but not before we get one last little kiss from our Sun. After reaching G2 storm levels last week from some fast solar wind, we have been slowly quieting down, but then over this past day, a mini-solar storm has hit from a stealthy storm launch. Since Earth's magnetic shield has been so rattled recently, this mini-storm has bumped us back up to active conditions. So this means we could get more sporadic aurora over the next day or so, especially at high latitudes. On top of that, this mini-storm may cause additional issues for satellite operators in GEO as the high energy fluxes with build up again in the wake of this mini-storm. Radio operators and GPS users will appreciate the ending of the recent storming, but with bright region 2773 rotating to the Sun's farside, this means solar flux is returning to the low 70s, bringing with it poor radio propagation on Earth's dayside. Sadly, these conditions will likely last for another week or more, as we do not yet see any bright regions on the Sun's farside that will rotate into view over this next week. However, GPS users will appreciate the low flux as it means GPS reception will improve even at low latitudes. Learn the details of the recent solar storming, catch up on aurora photos over this past week, and see what else our Sun has in store!

Malcolm Robinson | UFOs In The UK
Broadcast 5th & Published 6th October 2020
One of the most incredible close encounter cases ever to have occurred in Scotland occurred on November 9th, 1979 when forestry worker Robert (Bob) Taylor encountered a hovering dome shaped object above a clearing in Dechmont Woods near Livingston, Central Scotland. He was then 'attacked' by two spherical objects with spikes that rushed out from beneath this object and pulled him towards the larger object. This case stands head and shoulders above any other Scottish UFO case and has the prestigious hallmark of being the only case officially investigated by the police and forensic science laboratories in Great Britain. UFO researcher Malcolm Robinson was one of the investigators on this astonishing case and in this blockbusting book he provides all the facts and figures. The Dechmont Woods Incident stands the test of time as being one of the biggest UFO cases in the annals of British UFOlogy.

Robert Fleischer | UFOs: The Situation In Germany
Published 2nd October 2020
UFOs don't exist in Germany - officially, at least. While the German government denies any interest in flying saucers, its military seriously claims that they never had anything unusual on their radar screens which they could not eventually identify. Thus, you hardly ever hear anything from Germany about UFOs. The German journalist and researcher Robert Fleischer is trying to change that. For more than 13 years, he has been working to find out what the German government really knows about UFOs, digging into government archives and asking questions to politicians and the military. In his presentation, he discusses what the German Bundestag knows about Flying Saucers, how the German intelligence agency BND investigated UFO reports during the Cold War, what politicians say about the subject and how it all relates to the situation in Germany after World War II.
About Robert Fleischer: Robert is a TV journalist, presenter and filmmaker. He has worked for a number of German public broadcast TV networks and writes articles for magazines in Germany and abroad. In 2007, he founded Exopolitics Germany (www.exopolitik.org) and in 2013, he launched ExoMagazin.tv, a subscription-based online TV magazine for open-minded people.
He not only reports on UFOs and the paranormal but also on a wide array of subjects, including politics, future sciences and consciousness research. His work has been featured in major TV and radio shows as well as newspaper articles. He holds a university degree in conference interpreting for French and Spanish and has given talks in many European countries, including
Austria, Switzerland, Italy, Spain, Portugal, the Czech Republic and the UK.
