Via my friend Norio Hayakawa ...

Norio Hayakawa calls himself an unorthodox ufologist and activist. He has spent almost 10 years specifically investigating Area 51 in Nevada. He says that there is much more to Area 51 than just superficial facts made public about this well-known base. In 1990 he also began to investigate the strange goings-on at Dulce, New Mexico. After more than 45 years of researching the UFO phenomenon, he says that a conditioning of belief systems have been orchestrated since 1947 by a manipulative force that is preparing mankind for a near future mysterious scenario. The ingrained and "altered" realities behind both Area 51 and Dulce will play a role in that scenario. In March of 2009 he organized the first-ever Underground Base conference in Dulce, New Mexico.

Increasing opposition to cell phone towers, smart meters and ubiquitous wireless devices helped spur a healthy debate about this technology that has been released into the public without proper testing - doubtless as part of the relentless bid for Total Information Awareness and to track everybody's move, in order to feed this data into supercomputers and to front run the stock market. (My best guess).

In May 29, there was a panel in Walnut Creek, California presented by the California Brain Tumor Association and the recently formed -based W.I.S.E (Wireless Information and Safety Education). Panelists included Columbia University special lecturer and author Dr. Martin Blank; Lloyd Morgan, senior research fellow with the Environmental Health Trust, and representatives of the presenting organizations.

One of them was Ellie Marks, a Lafayette resident and executive director of the California Brain Tumor Association. She has testified before Congress and appeared on numerous national television shows to educate and promote legislation regulating the wireless industry.

"The Federal Communications Commission's 1996 regulation standards are outdated, said Marks. The limits deemed safe, she said, don't protect children and pregnant women.

"'We don't advocate against the technology, but use it with wires,' she said. 'Pregnant women, give up your phones, read the manuals (iPhone's says keep it 5/8 inch from the body) and keep them away from children. Remember, distance is your friend.'

"John Fowler, an on-air television presence in the Bay Area since 1978, said it was the 'slow tsunami of information that was being ignored by the money interests of wireless technology' that convinced him it was time to speak out. His special report on placing a cell phone in a bra -- shown during the discussion -- introduced audiences to women whose doctors told them their breast cancer might be related to cell phones.

"Blank, whose book 'Overpowered,' draws upon his over 30 years studying cellular biophysics as they relate to exposure to hazardous radiation, said he started out examining properties of cells and membranes. A colleague led him to investigations of the impact of EMFs on human health. Presenting peer-reviewed research spanning decades and arriving from all over the world, he said, 'You don't have to ask a scientist, you can ask a cell. It will show you what's happening.'

"Blank summarized the 'crisis in the science business,' saying distortions in reporting had forced him to become a 'reluctant activist.' He said accumulative exposure is a key; he advised powering off devices not in use, maintaining good overall health, using headsets or speaker phone settings, petitioning government and industry for biologically-based safety limits and replacing Wi-Fi in schools with cabled Internet connection -- the latter suggestion receiving vigorous audience applause.

"Morgan explained that children's more liquid brains and smaller, thinner skulls absorb more microwave radiation from wireless transmitting devices than do the brains of adults. Recent exponential increases in salivary gland and acoustic neuroma tumors -- their location reflecting exactly where a cell phone is held -- are harbingers, he said. And Google Glass, Morgan suggested, poses serious future danger because 'the eye is hugely sensitive (to EMFs).'"

Asked how to measure EMFs in the home, Marks demonstrated a meter reader, available on the consumer market at prices ranging from $300 to $2,000. Turning on her cell phone and checking for messages, dense crackling and popping sounds filled the community hall. Blank suggested a "poor man's meter" -- a portable radio, operating on battery, tuned to the end of the dial -- will emit radio frequency signals indicating the presence of EMFs.

Temperature in the Capital touched 45.1 degree Celsius on Sunday while it was 47.8 degree C in and around Palam airport making it the hottest day in 62 years giving no respite to people reeling under a blistering heat wave.

Adding to the woes of heat-ravaged Delhiites, frequent power cuts across the city aggravated the situation and made life miserable.

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) said there is no relief likely from the heat wave on Monday and similar weather conditions will continue.

Bear burglar stealing honey caught on camera in China

"A black bear has recently destroyed more than 70 beehives while stealing honey at a bee breeding base in a natural reserve in northeast China. The base started reporting beehive missing cases since the end of May and suspected that it was done by wild animals.

The monitoring video showed that the black bear first opened a beehive with its mouth and ran away very quickly, which the staff analyzed as a move to avoid bee stinging.

The black bear came back later and carried away the beehives after the bees inside the hives had flown away, monitoring video showed."

Massive twin tornadoes rip through Nebraska

Hey ... I live in Nebraska ... (for better of worse).

That looked nasty! Double tornado ... don't remember seeing that before.

Tornadoes were a couple hundred miles north and the city I live in has never had a tornado within the city limits (two theories on is the lay of the land and the other a native American Indian blessing ... who knows???

Anyway most of "tornado alley" happens to our south (Kansas, Oklahoma, Missouri etc).

This front is heading due East and is expected to clash with some warmer upward flowing air from the Gulf ~ this might create weather storm havoc from Montana all the way over to Michigan later today just North of You ...

"One of the results of Earth having a tilted axis is, for better or worse, the seasons. On June 21st, we'll be at one extreme point in Earth's seasonality: the summer solstice. Here's what that means.

The axis of the earth is tipped 23.45°. This means that most of the time part of the earth is tipped toward the sun and is getting more sunlight and warmth, and another part is tipped away and is getting less sunlight and warmth. When the northern hemisphere is tilted toward the sun, the days are longer and the sun is high in the sky. The weather is warmer and we have summer. Six months later, the northern hemisphere is tilted away from the sun and the days are shorter and the sun is low in the sky. The temperature grows cold and we have winter.

Every planet with an axial tilt has seasons. Mars has a tilt almost exactly the same as earth's, so its seasons are similar (albeit twice as long). Jupiter, on the other hand, with an axial tilt of just 3.13°, has scarcely any seasons to speak of at all. The weirdest might be Uranus, whose axis is tipped 97.77°."

The accounting of the financial cost of the nearly decade-long Iraq War will go on for years, but a recent analysis has shed light on the companies that made money off the war by providing support services as the privatization of what were former U.S. military operations rose to unprecedented levels.

Private or publicly listed firms received at least $138 billion of U.S. taxpayer money for government contracts for services that included providing private security, building infrastructure and feeding the troops.

Ten contractors received 52 percent of the funds, according to an analysis by the Financial Times that was published Tuesday.

The No. 1 recipient?

Houston-based energy-focused engineering and construction firm KBR, Inc. (NYSE:KBR), which was spun off from its parent, oilfield services provider Halliburton Co. (NYSE:HAL), in 2007.

The company was given $39.5 billion in Iraq-related contracts over the past decade, with many of the deals given without any bidding from competing firms, such as a $568-million contract renewal in 2010 to provide housing, meals, water and bathroom services to soldiers, a deal that led to a Justice Department lawsuit over alleged kickbacks, as reported by Bloomberg.

Who were Nos. 2 and 3?

Agility Logistics (KSE:AGLTY) of Kuwait and the state-owned Kuwait Petroleum Corp. Together, these firms garnered $13.5 billion of U.S. contracts.

As private enterprise entered the war zone at unprecedented levels, the amount of corruption ballooned, even if most contractors performed their duties as expected.

According to the bipartisan Commission on Wartime Contracting in Iraq and Afghanistan, the level of corruption by defense contractors may be as high as $60 billion. Disciplined soldiers that would traditionally do many of the tasks are commissioned by private and publicly listed companies.

Even without the graft, the costs of paying for these services are higher than paying governement employees or soldiers to do them because of the profit motive involved. No-bid contracting - when companies get to name their price with no competing bid - didn't lower legitimate expenses. (Despite promises by President Barack Obama to reel in this habit, the trend toward granting favored companies federal contracts without considering competing bids continued to grow, by 9 percent last year, according to the Washington Post.)

Even though the military has largely pulled out of Iraq, private contractors remain on the ground and continue to reap U.S. government contracts. For example, the U.S. State Department estimates that taxpayers will dole out $3 billion to private guards for the government's sprawling embassy in Baghdad.

The costs of paying private and publicly listed war profiteers seem miniscule in light of the total bill for the war.

Last week, the Costs of War Project by the Watson Institute for International Studies at Brown University said the war in Iraq cost $1.7 trillion dollars, not including the $490 billion in immediate benefits owed to veterans of the war and the lifetime benefits that will be owed to them or their next of kin."
